Die Waren befinden sich nun auf der Warentransportfläche 14 und werden entlang der Transportrichtung (siehe Pfeil A) so an dem Warenerfassungsfenster 32 vorbeigeführt, daß die Warenkennzeichnung (Strichkodemarkierung) von der hinter dem Fenster befindlichen Abtasteinrichtung erfaßt und die darauf befindliche Information auf dem Bildschirm 42 des Datensichtgeräts 43 bzw. 43' angezeigt und/oder zu einer Datenverarbeitungseinrichtung übertragen werden kann. Bei besonders sperrigen und schweren Waren ist die Warenkennzeichnung vorzugsweise auf Seitenflächen angebracht, die dann jeweils zum Warenerfassungsfenster 32 gedreht werden müssen. Ist ein solches Drehen der Ware zu umständlich oder beschwerlich oder befindet sich die Warenkennzeichnung in einer extremen Position, können die auf der Warenkennzeichnung befindlichen Informationen bzw. die dort enthaltenen Daten auch mittels der manuell bedienbaren Abtasteinrichtung 54 aufgenommen und von der Steuereinrichtung verarbeitet werden. Da die Abtasteinrichtung einen gewissen Streubereich zuläßt, muß das Warenerfassungsfenster 32 nicht exakt in Höhe der Warenkennzeichnung angeordnet sein. Die Bedienfläche 35 befindet sich oberhalb des Warenerfassungsfensters und der Warentransportfläche, so daß der Benutzer die darauf befindlichen Elemente in einer für ihn ergonomischen Stellung bzw. Haltung bedienen kann.
