En outre, le dispositif hydraulique présente les particularités suivantes a. il comporte un mécanisme à commande hydrau lique permettant à volonté d'introduire ou de ne pas introduire une correction entre le palpeur et le dispositif hydraulique sur lequel il agit, per mettant ainsi un premier copiage (ébauche) mé nageant une certaine surépaisseur de matière, enlevée ensuite lors d'un deuxième copiage (fini tion) ;
Pour suivre le fonctionnement du dispositif com plet, il faut préciser le sens de fonctionnement des divers contacteurs représentés sur les fig. 4 et 5 le contact 35, normalement ouvert, est fermé lorsque le doigt 30 vient rencontrer la butée 32 vers la gau che ; le contact 36, normalement ouvert, est fermé de la même façon lorsque le doigt _30 vient rencon trer la butée 33 à droite ; le contact 80, normalement ouvert, se trouve fermé lorsque le galet 25 rencontre la collerette 27 vers le haut (ce qui provoque le mou vement vers le haut du poussoir 79) ;
Reproduction device for a lathe The reproduction process for a lathe has long been known, consisting in separating the transverse carriage from its screw drive and replacing the latter with a device, generally hydraulic, moving this carriage transversely, so that one of its points follows the path of a template, while the carriage advances longitudinally in a uniform movement.
This device ceases to be applicable when the profile to be produced exhibits excessively rapid ascents, in particular straight shoulders. To remedy this it is known to have the slide ensuring the sliding of the transverse carriage on the longitudinal carriage, at an angle of inclination such that when the carriage moves away from the axis of the workpiece, the result is a longitudinal displacement component opposed to the advance movement and capable, under certain conditions, of canceling this advance and thus producing straight shoulders.
However, with such devices, the longitudinal advance speed of the carriage remains constant or, if it varies, it is according to a program comprising discontinuous values. Under these conditions, the real speed of advance, measured tangentially to the profile, varies constantly according to the slope of this profile. Consequently, the machining of the material cannot be carried out under optimum conditions of profitability.
In order to be able to make the real feedrate measured tangentially to the profile constant, it would necessarily be necessary to act on both the longitudinal and transverse displacements of the tool. For this, one could imagine a probe bearing on the jig and capable of undergoing slight transverse and longitudinal movements controlling independently and respectively the transverse and longitudinal movements of the tool-holder carriage, an intermediate device regulating the speed of these two controls of the tool-holder. a complementary way. However, such a positive statement would be extremely complicated.
The present invention relates to a reproduction device for a lathe, characterized in that it comprises a transverse carriage sliding perpendicularly to the axis of the lathe on a longitudinal carriage, the two carriages each being driven by a hydraulic control, however that a fear, driven by the transverse carriage, follows a fixed template, being able to move slightly in one direction, inclined both with respect to the directions of the transverse movement and of the longitudinal movement and situated in a substantially plane parallel to these two directions,
the whole arranged so that an infinitesimal movement of the probe acts on a hydraulic device, according to the profile of the jig, to progressively reduce the transverse speed, to cancel it and change its direction, and, always by means of this hydraulic, gradually reduce the longitudinal speed, cancel it and change its direction, making possible by these means a constant linear advance on the reproduced profile.
In a preferred embodiment of the device, the feeler is arranged at one of the ends of a part in the form of a rocker arm acting through its other end on a hydraulic device, the pivot axis of this part being arranged in a plane parallel to the directions of longitudinal and transverse displacements and forming an angle with these two directions.
In addition, the hydraulic device has the following features a. it comprises a hydraulic control mechanism allowing at will to introduce or not to introduce a correction between the probe and the hydraulic device on which it acts, thus allowing a first copying (roughing) saving a certain extra thickness of material, then removed during a second copy (finite tion);
b. it has one or more successive roughing positions in which stops arranged on a barrel determine the depths of cut, while the same probe, meeting the same template as previously, determines the longitudinal strokes by causing the return of the carriages, the same device according to a. saving extra thickness on the blank part.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows in perspective a lathe to be reproduced equipped with said embodiment of the device.

Fig. 3 is a view from the left of FIG. 2.
Fig. 4 is the general hydraulic diagram of the device.
Fig. 5, the electrical diagram of the assembly. Figs. 6 and 7 of the explanatory diagrams.
The tour shown in fig. 1 comprises in the usual way, a fixed headstock equipped for example with a three-jaw chuck, 1 with con centric clamping for driving the part, and a tailstock 2. At the lower part is arranged an assembly 3 of two trolleys for normal work without reproduction. The reproduction device 4 is arranged at the top. This reproduction device comprises a longitudinal carriage 5 sliding on guides 6 and moved by a jack 7, the cylinder of which is fixed and the rod of which is integral with the carriage 5.
On this carriage 5 can slide, on vertical slides 8, the transverse carriage 9, carrying the hydraulic device 10 and the tool holder 11, itself carrying the tool 12. The workpiece and the template are shown in mixed lines in fig. 1 and designated respectively by 13 and 14.
The reproduction device 4 itself is shown in detail in FIGS. 2 and 3. We find in these figures the longitudinal carriage 5 and the slides 6 on which it slides, moved by the jack 7. The body of this jack is fixed on the frame of the lathe and its rod 15 is fixed to the carriage 5 The transverse carriage 9 slides on the vertical slides 8, moved by a jack 16, the body of which is fixed on the longitudinal carriage 5 and of which the rod 17 is fixed on the transverse carriage. The two jacks 7 and 16 are double-acting and are fed from the inside of the rod, which is hollow and has two concentric channels each opening onto one of the faces of the piston.
At the upper part of the hydraulic device 10, integral with the transverse carriage 9, is the feeler consisting of a part in the form of a rocker 18 oscillating about an axis 19, inclined relative to the horizontal and located in a plane vertical parallel to the axis of the lathe. This part 18 comprises at its end a feeler finger 20 intended to come into contact with the jig 14, and at the other end a rod 21 with micrometric adjustment passing through the upper wall of the device 10 by means of a bellows. rubber 22 for sealing.
On the left side of the device 10 also protrudes the end of a lever 23 also passing through the wall through a rubber bellows 24 for sealing. The end of this lever 23 comprises a roller 25 moving along a generatrix of a vertical let barrel 26, integral with the longitudinal carriage 5. This barrel comprises at its upper part a rette adhesive 27, and in the vicinity of the lower part a number of adjustable stops 28 which can slide smoothly in, six longitudinal grooves 29 arranged all around the barrel.
This barrel can undergo a rotational movement around its vertical axis using a mechanism which will be studied later.
The longitudinal carriage 5 also comprises a finger 30 articulated at 31 and whose tilting is caused by two end-of-travel stops 32 and 33, the position of which can be adjusted along a slide 34. During the movement of the longitudinal carriage 5 , when this finger 30 swings in one direction or another under the effect of these end-of-travel stops 32 and 33, it acts, on the one hand on two micro-contacts 35 and 36, and on the other hand, also on the device 10 by means of two flexible transmissions 37 and 38.
Finally, the longitudinal carriage 5 also comprises a finger 39 articulated around an axis parallel to the axis of the lathe and provided at its upper part with a roller 40. It is actuated during the longitudinal movements of the carriage 5, by cams. longitudinal 41 which can be placed on the fixed part of the lathe above the end stops. These cams act on the roller 40 and the lever 39 actuates a hydraulic control to cause the rapid longitudinal advance, as will be seen later.
The hydraulic device 10 comprises a certain number of hydraulic and mechanical elements shown schematically in FIG. 4 where it was assumed that all these elements were brought together in the same plane. The rod 21 penetrating the upper part of the device and transmitting the movement of the feeler, acts by means of a ball 42 on a transverse distributor 43 which itself actuates an auxiliary distributor 44 in contact with its end. This auxiliary distributor 44 can control an amplifying piston 45, which acts on a lever articulated at 47. This lever itself acts on the bush 48 of the distributor 44, this bush being able to slide in the block.
On the other hand, the device 10 comprises a longitudinal distributor 49 arranged above the amplifying piston 45. The device also comprises two thermostatic sliders, 50 and 51 each comprising expandable elements 52 causing the sliding of a sleeve 53, recalled by the spring 54, and inside which slides a drawer 55 obs progressively tracing the orifice 56 of the sleeve, with the aid of an inclined triangular slot 57 with which it is provided. The position of the spool 55 of the choke 50 can be adjusted by means of a cam 58 rotating about a fixed axis and controlled by an adjustment knob 59.
On the contrary, the position of the spool 55 of the throttle 51 is controlled by a cam 60 similar to the previous one, but whose axis, instead of being fixed, is moved by the end of the lever 46 mentioned above. . In addition, to allow the rotation of this control under the action of a button 61, while allowing transverse movement, the cam 60 and the button 61 are joined by a shaft 62 comprising two cardan-type joints.
Two electromagnets are placed in the device 10, one designated by 63 has its core drawn downwards (arrow 64) when it is energized. In its movement, it closes a valve 65, at its lower part, returned by a spring 66. At the same time, by its upper part, it causes the tilting of a lever 67 by means of a spring 68. This lever 67 acts on the transverse distributor 43 already mentioned. The other electromagnet designated 69 has its core attracted upward (arrow 70) when energized.
In its movement it also closes a valve 71, at its lower part, lifted by a spring 72, at the same time as at its upper part it acts by means of a lever 73 on the longitudinal distributor 49. Both ex tremités of this same lever 73 also act flexible transmissions 37 and 38 already mentioned.
The device 10 also comprises a small jack 74 which is normally in abutment upwards, pushed by a spring 75 into a well-determined position. When oil under pressure is admitted to the upper face of the piston of this cylinder, via a pipe 74b, this cylinder takes a low position adjustable by means of a button 76 actuating a cam 76a. In its movement, the jack acts on the lever 77 causing a slight horizontal displacement of the ball 42. When the pressure acts on the jack, the ball moves to the right.
Finally, the device 10 comprises the lever 23 already mentioned, the end of which protruding outside the mechanism comprises the roller 25 which bears on the barrel 26. Its other end 78 acts directly on the transverse distributor 43. In addition , this same lever 23 acts on a push-button 79 controlling two micro-contacts 80 and 81. Another micro-contact 82 is also located at the lower part of the device and is controlled by the amplifier piston 45 through the intermediary of a lever 83.
The whole of the hydraulic device 10 described is, let us recall, integral with the transverse carriage 9 which also comprises the tool holder 11, while the barrel 26 has its axis secured to the longitudinal carriage 5. The device intended to rotate this barrel on itself comprises a small cylinder 84 whose rod, cut in the form of a rack, produces the rotation of a gear 85.
This gear drives the axis 86 of the barrel 26 in rotation, by the intermediary of a free wheel, arranged in such a way that when the pressure is sent to the jack 84, the latter moves in the direction of the arrow. 87 and the gear 85 rotates without driving the axis 86. On the contrary, when the pressure is removed, the cylinder moves in the opposite direction under the effect of the undefined spring, and the gear 85 drives this. times the axis of the barrel and rotates it by a determined angle.
For the following explanations, it will be assumed that the barrel let is in six positions and that each return movement of the gear 85 causes it to rotate one sixth of a turn. The rod of the cylinder 84 comprises a lug 88 acting on a micro-contact 89 when the cylinder reaches the end of its travel in the direction of the arrow 87. Finally, the axis 86 of the barrel drives a series of five cams 90 acting respectively on five micro-contacts designated by the numbers 91, 92, 93, 94 and 95.
Finally, the longitudinal carriage also comprises the finger 39 already mentioned, comprising a roller 40 actuated, during the longitudinal movements of the carriage, by a fixed rectilinear cam 41. This finger 39 is articulated around an axis 96 parallel to the axis of the lathe and has another end 97 which acts on a valve 98 in the opening direction when the cam presses on the roller.
As indicated on the hydraulic diagram in fig. 4, all the hydraulic components mentioned are interconnected by means of pipes arranged according to the diagram. The device 10 is supplied with the aid of three pipes 99a, 99b and 99c connecting it to three oil flow sources supplied by a pump 100 connected to a tank 101 and arranged on the frame of the machine, while a pipe 102 ensures the return of the oil without pressure to this reservoir 101. Naturally, the four pipes 99a, 99b, 99c and 102 are of the flexible type to allow the device to move. They are also visible in fig. 1.
Likewise, the pipes 103, 104, 105, 106 connecting the hydraulic device 10 to the longitudinal carriage 5 are also flexible and visible in FIGS. 2 and 3. In addition, the small jacks 74 and 84 are also connected respectively by pipes 74b and 84b to solenoid valves 74a and 84a.
The electrical diagram in fig. 5 shows how the electrical devices mentioned are interconnected. We see the two current arrivals 107 and 108 supplying through the micro-contacts 35, 36, 80, 81, 82, 89, 91, 93, 94, 95, the electromagnets 63 and 69 as well as the solenoid valves 74a and 84a mentioned above. In addition, the diagram includes six relays 109, 110, 111, 112, 113, 114 as well as a contact 115 to start the cycle.
We will now study the operation of the reproduction device by examining what the reactions of this device will be according to the action received by the probe.
It will be assumed to begin with that the electromagnet 63 is excited, that is to say that its core is drawn downwards, closing the valve 65 and compressing the spring 68. If the finger 20 of the probe n 'is not in contact with the template 14, under the effect of this spring 68 acting on the lever 67, the rod of the transverse distributor 43 will move upwards, causing the feeler 18 to tilt via the ball 42 acting on the rod 21. The pressurized oil arriving through 99c is then distributed in the pipe 116 which communicates with the upper face of the piston of the cylinder 16.
This piston therefore goes ash, bringing with it the transverse carriage, while the oil, discharged by the underside of the piston, goes through the pipe 117 that the distributor 43 communicates with the pipe 118. The valve 65 being closed, this exhaust is forced to be done through the thermostatic throttle 50, the pressure-less exhaust finally being through the pipe 119 which joins the return pipe 102 passing through the thermostatic element 52 The descent of the transverse carriage is therefore done with a reduced speed, adjustable by the button 59, and constant regardless of the importance of the lifting of the distributor 43.
This speed is also independent of the temperature of the oil, thanks to the thermostatic compensation produced by the expandable element 52. In fact, when the oil heats up, its viscosity decreases and the leakage through the various passages would tend to increase. increase in flow, which is avoided thanks to the action of the element 52 which moves the sleeve 53, therefore the orifice 56 downwards so as to reduce the passage and to maintain constant the speed of the piston of the cylinder 16 .
If now it is assumed that in the downward movement of the transverse carriage 9 and of the hydraulic device 10 the finger of the feeler 20 comes to meet the jig 14, the rod 20 will push the distributor 43 downwards through the ball 42. The downward movement will therefore stop when the distributor 43 has taken a position as shown in FIG. 4, position in which the ducts 116 and 117 are closed.
This stop position corresponds to an extremely precise equilibrium position, because if the finger of the probe 20 rises, if only by a small amount, gold by a few fractions of hundredths of a millimeter, this is sufficient to lower the distributor 43 by a corresponding amount, which brings together the pipe 117 to the inlet 99c and the pipe 116 to the exhaust 118, and has the effect of remon ter the rod 17 of the cylinder 16 and the transverse carriage 9. This ascent is effected at a speed sufficient to instantly catch up with the weak ascent mentioned above.
Likewise, if the feeler descended by a very small amount, also of the order of a few fractions of a hundredths of a millimeter, this would be sufficient to bring together in the same way, 116 at the inlet 99c and 117 at the outlet 118, so as to instantly correct the position of the carriage.
These movements of the feeler 18 also act on the auxiliary distributor 44 situated in the extension of the distributor 43. As seen in FIG. 4, the arrival of pressurized oil 99b directly and permanently supplies the lower face of the amplifying piston 45, and at the same time the upper orifice 120 of the bush 48 of the auxiliary distributor. This same sleeve also comprises an orifice 121 communicating with the upper face of the amplifier piston 45 and an orifice 122 communicating with the exhaust pipe 119 which itself communicates with the exhaust 102. The lever 46 already mentioned and articulated in 47 acts by a roller 47a on the sleeve 48, and it is actuated by the amplifying piston 45 by means of a roller 47b.
In reality, the ratio between the lever arms 47-47a and 47-47b is much smaller than shown in fig. 4; it can easily be of the order of a hundredth. Assuming the distributor 44 is stationary, the amplifying piston 45 will act on this lever, as has just been said, so that the sleeve 48 is placed in a position such as the orifice 121, connected to the face. upper piston 45, communicates neither with the pressure inlet 120, nor with the exhaust 122. In reality, the upper section of the piston 45 being greater than its lower useful section, the equilibrium of the latter will not be reached that when the pressure in 121 will have the value of the pressure in 120, reduced in the ratio of the above-mentioned sections.
This is only possible because the orifices 120 and 122 open extremely close to the ridges of the distributor 44. If it is in fact assumed that the pressure in 121 is greater than that required, that is to say gets closer to the value of the pressure in 120, immediately the piston 45 will descend by making the sleeve 48 rise again through the lever 46, and this descent will continue until the orifice 120 is sufficiently closed by the distributor 44 and, if necessary, that the exhaust 122 begins its function.
On the contrary, if the pressure in 121 is lower than that required for equilibrium, the piston 45 will rise again, thus lowering the sleeve 48 until the exhaust 122 is sufficiently closed and, if necessary, the inlet 120 sufficiently open to adjust the correct pressure.
If now we no longer assume that the distributor 44 is fixed, but capable of small displacements, it can easily be seen that for each position of the distributor 44 corresponds an extremely precise position of the amplifying piston 45 and that this position is exactly the one that would be obtained. if the bush 48 were integral with the distributor 44, and the multiplication of the movement is produced only by the lever 46, except that the force to move 44-48 would be that necessary to move 45 multiplied in the ratio lever arms, a very important ratio, as we have seen.
This amplifier piston 45 therefore multiplies the amplitude of the movement of the distributor 44 without introducing a parasitic force thereon.
We will now examine what happens if we act artificially on the displacement of the probe 20 Initially, the probe 20 is assumed to be below its normal position. As has been shown, the distributor 43 produces the descent movement of the carriage 9 at a speed which decreases as the probe 20 approaches its normal position, this speed ending up being canceled out exactly when this probe is in its normal position (which we define in this way). At this moment, the amplifier piston 45 is at the end of its downward stroke.
Secondly, it is assumed that the probe is artificially raised by an infinitesimal amount (a few hundredths of a millimeter for example) from its normal position. As we have seen, this produces the ascent of the carriage 9; at the same time, this movement of a few hundredths of a millimeter applied to the distributor 43, is transmitted to the distributor 44, which produces a re-rise of the piston 45 of several millimeters, taking up the clearance left between the upper part of the piston 45 and the lower part of the longitudinal distributor 49.
This movement is also transmitted through the lever 46 to the axis of the cam 60, which has the effect of gradually closing the choke 51, therefore gradually reducing the longitudinal speed, if, as will be assumed, the electro- magnet 69 is also excited and pushes the longitudinal distributor 49 downwards, causing the right face of the piston of the cylinder 7 to communicate, via the pipe 105 with the pressure inlet 99a, and the left face, via the pipe 104, with the line 123 on which the choke 51 acts (the valves 71 and 98 being closed).
Thirdly, it is assumed that the fear blade 20 continues to move upwards by a few additional hundredths of a millimeter. This movement, transmitted by the distributor 43 to the distributor 44, causes the piston 45 to continue to rise in its amplified movement, acting on the longitudinal distributor 49, so as to first cancel the speed, then possibly change its direction ( by combining sant 104 on arrival 99a and 105 on exhaust 123).
The reactions of the device produced as has been indicated are therefore indeed those which had been explained above. This device makes it possible to achieve a real speed of advance, measured tangentially to the profile, which is constant and, moreover, it makes it possible to reproduce a wide variety of profiles which may in particular include straight shoulders and even re-entrant parts. Suppose for example, as shown schematically in FIG. 4, that the profile of the jig 14 successively comprises a rising conical part 14a, a conical profile of the cendant 14b, a right shoulder 14c and a right shoulder 14d with corner stitching at the base, each of these shapes being connected together by cylindrical parts.
During operation, the probe 20 occupies the position indicated in FIG. 4, the transverse carriage 9 being in equilibrium, the longitudinal carriage moving with a movement of constant advance regulated by the throttle 51, the piston 45 being in the low position.
As seen above, the tool 12 therefore cuts in the part 13 a cylinder corresponding to the cylinder dre of the jig 14.
When the finger of the probe 20 approaches the base of the conical part 14a, it undergoes a slight upward movement and immediately acts on the distributor 43 which balances in a position such that the speed of ascent of the carriage 9 is exactly that which corresponds to the execution of the cone. This position of the distributor 43 is located very slightly below the normal position defined previously (the probe 20 being itself, slightly above its normal position).
As a result, the amplifier piston 45 is no longer in the lower position, but raised by an amount corresponding to that from which the assembly 43-44 has descended, multiplied by the amplification ratio. This rise of the piston 45, acting by means of the lever 46 on the axis of the cam 60, produces a reduction in the speed of longitudinal advance.
It can therefore be seen that at each speed of transverse ascent of the carriage 9 corresponds, in a continuous manner, a longitudinal speed of the carriage 5, and this correspondence can be adjusted so that the actual speed of advance, measured according to the profile, is constant, whatever the slope of the latter, which can in particular have any curvilinear shape.
If, after having resumed the execution of the cylinder which follows part 14a, the feeler arrives at the top of the descending conical part 14b, the feeler finger will, on the contrary, be lowered and the distributor 43 will take a position of equilibrium. slightly above its normal position and corresponding to the execution of this cone. This time, the amplifier piston 45 remains in abutment in the lower position. In this case, the correction of the longitudinal speed does not act, this speed remaining constant and equal to the speed set by the throttle 51, which eliminates the defect of most of the known devices, in particular the method of the recalled inclined carriage. above, in which this speed, on the contrary, is accelerated for the slopes of the ashes.
In any event, the downward slope which one seeks to achieve in practice remains generally of a limited value and this correction is not necessary. Furthermore, if it was desired to produce this correction, it could be obtained by increasing the stroke of the piston 45 downwards and by modifying the mechanism acting on the spool 55.
The feeler finger 20 following the cylinder again now approaches the bottom of the right shoulder 14c. Thanks to the inclination of the axis 19, the finger 20 is moved upwards and the mechanism acts as before, but it is easily seen that, whatever the speed of ascent taken by the carriage 9, the finger 20 butting against the flat face will always continue to move upwards until this movement transmitted by 43-44 and amplified by piston 45 acts on distributor 49 and ends up canceling the longitudinal speed. Only the transverse speed remains, the value of which is set by the throttle 50. At the top of the right shoulder 14c, the device again executes the cylindrical part, the descent of the probe producing the resumption of longitudinal speed.
If now the feeler finger 20 approaches the corner stitch of the shoulder 14d, it will start by executing the descending part in the same way as 14b, then after a straight or curvilinear resource it will start the right ascending part of the same way as 14c until you meet the undercut part. At this moment, the feeler finger is lifted by a new amount, this displacement transmitted by 43-44, as previously, and amplified by the piston 45, moves the distributor 49 upwards to produce the change of direction longitudinal movement, which produces the desired effect.
To clearly show all the advantages of the device, we will now examine the operation of a complete cycle of the lathe taken as an example, from the introduction of the blank to its completion.
The blank 13 being placed on the lathe, either manually or by an automatic distributor, the operator or the mechanism engages the rotational movement of the lathe and at the same time closes the contact 115 </ B> of fig. 5. The lathe thus started will automatically execute, with the device taken as an example, four roughing passes, one rough copy pass and one finish copy pass. These six passes corresponding to the six positions of barrel 26.
To monitor the operation of the complete device, it is necessary to specify the direction of operation of the various contactors shown in fig. 4 and 5 the contact 35, normally open, is closed when the finger 30 meets the stop 32 to the left; the contact 36, normally open, is closed in the same way when the finger _30 comes to meet the stop 33 on the right; the contact 80, normally open, is closed when the roller 25 meets the collar 27 upwards (which causes the upward movement of the pusher 79);
the contact 81, normally open, is on the contrary closed when the roller 25 meets one of the stops 28 (which causes the downward movement of the pusher 79); the contact 82, normally open when the piston 45 is in the lower position, is closed when the piston 45 rises by a certain stroke; the contact 89, normally closed, is opened by the lug 88 when the rod of the cylinder 84 reaches the end of its travel in the direction of the arrow 87.
The contactors from 91 to 95 are controlled, as has been said, by cams 90 rotating with the barrel; their open or closed state depends on the position of the barrel. Schematically shown in FIG. 6, according to the six positions of the barrel, designated by Pl, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, the closed state of these contacts by a solid line, and the open state by the absence of a line .
We assume at the start the barrel 26 in position P1, consequently the contacts 91, 92, 93, 94 closed. The brief closing of contact 115, simultaneous at the start of the tour, therefore supplies relay 109 which acts and remains in the active position thanks to the holding circuit coming from relay 111. Thus, the electro 63 is energized and produced, as is the case. 'saw, the center of the carriage 9. This descent continues until the roller 25, meeting a stop 28, causes the lever 23 to tilt, which produces on the one hand the balancing of the carriage 9 by the action of the roller 78 on the distributor 43, and on the other hand, the closing of the contact 81 by the pusher 79.
The closing of this contact 81 supplies the relay 114 which acts and remains in the active position thanks to the holding circuit coming from the relay 111. Thus, the electro 69 is energized and produces the longitudinal displacement of the carriage, which thus performs the turning on the diameter given by the stop 28 and corresponding to the first roughing pass. At the same time, another contact of the relay 111 supplies the relay 110 which will subsequently remain in the active position thanks to the holding circuit passing through 92 which remains closed. The charioteing occurs until the probe 20 abuts, for example, on 14d.
At this moment, as we have seen, the amplifier piston 45 rises by a certain amount, which has the effect of closing the contact 82. This contact supplies the relay 111, which remains in the active position thanks to a control circuit. maintenance passing through 89. If the feeler finger 20 does not meet the profile, the stock removal continues until the stop 32, meeting the finger 30, closes the contact 35 which supplies 111 and produces the same effect. Thus, the solenoid valve 84a is supplied and controls the movement of the jack 84 in the direction of the arrow 87.
At the same time, the holding circuits of the relays 109 and 114 are cut off and consequently the appliances 63 and 69, no longer being energized, return to the rest position, returned respectively by the springs 66 and 72, which produces the rapid return of the trolleys by opening valves 65 and 71 and acting on distributors 43 and 49.
At the end of the stroke of the jack 84, the lug 88 -opens the contact 89 cutting off the holding circuit of the relay 111 (the contact 82 is open following the priming of the return). Thus, the solenoid valve 84a, no longer supplied with power, closes and allows the return of the cylinder 84, in the direction opposite to the arrow 87, which results in the rotation of the barrel and brings it to position P2. The rise of the carriage 9 is balanced when the roller 25 meets the collar 27, which furthermore has the effect of closing the contact 80. Likewise, the return to the right of the carriage 5 stops in equilibrium when the finger 30 meets the end-of-travel stop 33 and acts on the distributor 49 via the flexi bles 37 and 38. In addition, this same finger 30 closes the contact 36.
Under these conditions, the barrel being in position P2, the contacts 92, 93 and 94 remain closed but the contact 91 opens and the relay 110 remains in the active position as we have seen. Thus, as soon as the contacts 80 and 36 are both closed, the relay 109 is supplied with power and remains in the active position as previously thanks to its holding circuit. The same process begins again but with a new stop 28 therefore a deeper pass, the turn being produced either by the stop 32, or by the meeting of the finger 20 with the shoulder 14d or another shoulder.
Finally, from this second blank pass, the barrel turns again, as before, and produces in position P3 a third blank, and in position P4 a fourth blank, each corresponding to a stop 28, after which it passes to position P5 .
In this position P5, as shown in fig. 6, the contacts 92 and 94 remain closed but the contact 93 is this time open and, moreover, there is no stop 28. The return of the carriages, acting as previously on the contacts 80 and 36, produces the power supply to relay 109 which remains in the active position. The electromagnet 63 being energized, produces the descent of the carriage 9, but this time it is the contact of the finger 20 on the template 14 which produces the balancing of the carriage and the closing of the contact 81. Consequently, the relay 114 acts and remains in the active position, producing the longitudinal displacement, but this time the movements of the probe do not produce the return of the carriages, because the contact 93, being open, condemns the action of the contact 82.
The copying is thus obtained according to the process indicated above.
However, in all the previous roughing passes, as well as in the copying in position P5, the contact 94 remains closed. As a result, the solenoid valve 74a maintains the pressure on the actuator 74 acting on the ball 42, and the tool 12 remains at a certain distance from the desired profile, measured at an angle in the direction of movement of the probe 20, and adjusted by control 76, thus leaving a slight allowance which will be removed during the copy-finish pass.
The stop 32 having acted on the finger 30 and caused the return of the carriages and the rotation of the barrel as before, the latter assumes the position P6. Contact 94 opens, causing cylinder 74 and ball 42 to move into the rest position; only contact 92 remains closed and relay 110 is always in the active position. The copying-finishing is always controlled by the closing of the contacts 36 and 80 (returns) and takes place this time following exactly the profile, until the stop 32, acting on the finger 30, closes the contact 35 and produces the return of the carriages and the rotation of the barrel.
At this moment, the contact 92 opens in the intermediate position before closing again in position P1; but the relay 110 has returned to rest and the cycle stops. On the other hand, the contact 91 closes allowing both the action of the contact 115 for a new cycle.
To reduce the cycle time, it is possible to have cams 41 to produce a rapid advance of the longitudinal carriage during movements during which the tool is not working, in particular during the approach. It is easy to see that these cams 41 act, via the roller 40, on the lever 39 which opens a valve. 98 allowing the exhaust of the cylinder 7 to be done freely without passing through the throttle 51.
In addition, it is possible, if desired, not to use the six positions of the barrel. If, for example, we suppose that we want to make two roughing passes only, followed by a roughing-copying and a finishing, the cams acting on the contacts 92, 93, 94 and 95 will then be modified. according to the diagram of FIG. 7. The two blanks P1, P2, occur as before, and the copy-rough and copy-finish occur at P3, P4 (as before at P5, P6). At this time, the barrel must be returned to position P1 for the next cycle. This is where the contact 95 comes in, which closes when the barrel is completely in position P5 (and P6).
The last rotation of the barrel, controlled by the end of copying-finishing, brings it to position P5 and closes contact 95 at the end of its travel. This feeds relay 112 which remains in active position thanks to its holding circuit on. by the contact 89 (which is closed, since the rotation of the barrel corresponds to the return of the jack 84). But the relay 112 supplies via its other contact the relay 111 which thus produces the power supply to 84a and the advancement of the cylinder in the direction of the arrow 87. At the end of the stroke of the cylinder 84, the contact 89 cuts off the circuit of the cylinders. relay 111 and 112 and the barrel rotates from P5 to P6 during the return of the cylinder 84.
At the end of stroke of the barrel in position P6, the contact 95 closes again and in the same way produces a new rotation of this barrel which stops in position P1 ready for the next cycle. During all these empty evolutions of the barrel, the hydraulic device remains stationary following the breaking of the contact 92 having brought the relay 110 to rest. Thanks to this improvement, it is possible in the same way to use in the cycle only the operations that one wishes, whatever they may be.
Of course, the cams 90 consist of added elements so as to be able to carry out all the combinations in a universal manner.
Thus, in addition to the advantages that the reproduction device presents with regard to copying, that is to say a real advance speed always optimum with a relatively simple device and easy to adjust, we see that a lathe equipped with this device also has the advantage of being able to carry out an automatic cycle with several roughing passes before copying-roughing and copying-finishing, and without requiring, like the usual reproduction lathes, of, blank stops arranged on a large longitudinal barrel and delimiting the stroke of the successive passes.
In fact, with the device described, we have seen that the roughing of the part is obtained automatically and without any adjustment other than that of the depth of pass stops.
