Abstract
1. Sponge applicator head (1) for placing on a bottle for a surface treatment medium, such as shoe dye, particularly shoe whitener, wherein the open-pored sponge (2) is partially enclosed as well as compressed by an insert (3) to be plugged into the bottle neck and protrudes from the insert (3) on the outside in the shape of a mushroom or calotte, characterised thereby, that the insert (3) - underneath the uncompressed as well as radially projecting sponge rim (8) - possesses an about axially extending annular groove (10) with holes (11) passing through the insert (3) to the interior of the bottle.
