Abstract

The invention provides a method for the selection of the plant species Triticum aestivum L. on the ability to bind nitrogen from the atmosphere and the selection of diazotrophs for the examination of wheat genotype using passages of diazotrophs through generations of plants. Creating an effective genotype-diazotroph association, thanks to the nitrogenase enzyme complex, enables the binding of atmospheric nitrogen to a plant-accessible form. This increases the amount of nitrogen in the soil, reduces investment related to limited energy sources and low agricultural production, and increases the protection of the environment.
