Abstract
본 발명의 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 커버-셀 어셈블리가 제공된다. 상기 커버-셀 어셈블리는, 제1 방향으로 적층되는 양극 및 음극을 포함하는 전극 어셈블리; 상기 전극 어셈블리를 수용하는 케이스; 상기 케이스에 결합되는 셀 커버; 및 상기 셀 커버의 일 면과 상기 케이스 사이의 에어 포켓을 포함하고, 상기 셀 커버는 상변화 물질(PCM; Phase Change Material)을 포함할 수 있다.
Description
본 발명은 커버-셀 어셈블리, 이를 포함하는 배터리 셀 어셈블리 및 이를 포함하는 배터리 팩에 관한 것이다.
본 출원은 2024년 7월 6일에 출원된, 한국 출원 번호 10-2024-0093498의 이익을 주장하며, 해당 출원은 여기에 전체로서 참조된다.
이차 전지는 일차 전지와 달리 복수번의 충방전이 가능하다. 이차 전지는 핸드셋, 노트북, 무선 청소기 등의 다양한 무선 기기의 에너지원으로 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 최근, 에너지 밀도 개선 및 규모의 경제로 인해 이차 전지의 단위 용량당 제조 비용이 획기적으로 감소하고, BEV(battery electric vehicle)의 항속거리가 연료 차량과 동등한 수준으로 증가함에 따라, 이차 전지의 주요 쓰임새는 모바일 기기에서 모빌리티로 이동하고 있다.
모빌리티용 이차 전지의 기술 개발의 트렌드는 에너지 밀도 및 안전성의 개선이다. 모빌리티용 이차 전지의 안전성은 승객의 생명과 직결되는 바 매우 중요하다. 이차 전지의 안전성은 기계적 강건성, 전기적 절연의 신뢰성 및 열 폭주 이벤트 발생시 열 전달 지연을 통해 달성될 수 있다.
본 발명의 기술적 사상이 해결하고자 하는 과제는 안전성이 제고된 커버-셀 어셈블리를 제공하는 것이다.

상술한 과제를 해결하기 위한 본 발명의 예시적인 실시예들에 따르면, 커버-셀 어셈블리가 제공된다. 상기 커버-셀 어셈블리는, 제1 방향으로 적층되는 양극 및 음극을 포함하는 전극 어셈블리; 상기 전극 어셈블리를 수용하는 케이스; 상기 케이스에 결합되는 셀 커버; 및 상기 셀 커버의 일 면과 상기 케이스 사이의 에어 포켓을 포함하고, 상기 셀 커버는 상변화 물질(PCM; Phase Change Material)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전극 어셈블리 및 상기 케이스는 배터리 셀을 구성하고, 상기 셀 커버는 상기 배터리 셀의 주면과 상기 제1 방향으로 오버랩하는 제1 부분 및 상기 제1 부분과 연결되며, 상기 배터리 셀과 상기 제1 방향과 교차하는 제2 방향으로 오버랩하는 제2 부분을 포함하고, 상기 에어 포켓은 상기 배터리 셀과 상기 셀 커버의 상기 제2 부분 사이에 배치되며, 상기 배터리 셀의 상기 주면 및 상기 셀 커버의 상기 제1 부분은 밀착할 수 있다.

패드는 복수의 배터리 셀(121)의 스웰링을 흡수할 수 있다. 패드는 신축성 물질을 포함할 수 있다. 패드는 PU(Poly Urethane)을 포함할 수 있다. 패드는 내화 소재를 포함할 수도 있다.
배터리 셀 어셈블리(120)는 복수의 배터리 셀(121)을 각각 커버하는 셀 커버(121F)를 더 포함할 수 있다. 전술한 바와 같이, 셀 커버(121F)는 상변화 물질을 포함할 수 있다.
배터리 팩(100)은 팩 하우징(110)의 측벽들(112, 113, 114, 115)에 결합되는 팩 리드(119)를 더 포함할 수 있다. 팩 리드(119)는 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120) 및 전장 부품과 같이 배터리 팩(100) 내부에 실장되는 요소들을 커버할 수 있다. 팩 리드(119)는 예컨대 볼팅과 같은 기계적인 결합 수단에 의해 팩 하우징(110)에 고정될 수 있다.
도 10에서 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)의 배열은 3 * 2의 배치라고 할 수 있다. 도 10에 개시된 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)의 배치는 비제한적인 예시로서, 어떠한 의미에서도 본 발명의 기술적 사상을 제한하지 않는다. 당업계의 통상의 기술자는 여기에 설명된 바에 기초하여 M * N으로 배치된 (여기서, M, N 각각은 2 이상의 정수) 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)에 용이하게 도달할 수 있을 것이다.
배터리 팩(100)은 BMS(Battery Management System)을 더 포함할 수 있다. BMS는 배터리 팩(100)의 모니터링, 밸런싱 및 제어 등을 수행하도록 구성될 수 있다. 배터리 팩(100)의 모니터링은 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120) 내부의 특정 노드들의 전압 및 전류의 측정 및 배터리 팩(100) 내부의 설정된 위치들의 온도의 측정을 포함할 수 있다. 배터리 팩(100)은 상술된 전압, 전류 및 온도를 측정하기 위한 계측기들을 포함할 수 있다.
배터리 팩(100)의 밸런싱은 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)의 사이의 편차를 줄이는 동작이다. 배터리 팩(100)의 제어는 과충전, 과방전 및 과전류의 발생을 방지하는 것을 포함한다. 모니터링, 밸런싱 및 제어를 통해 배터리 팩(100)은 최적 조건에서 동작할 수 있으며, 이에 따라 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120) 각각의 수명 단축이 방지될 수 있다.
배터리 팩(100)은 냉각 장치, PRA(Power Relay Assembly) 및 안전 플러그 등과 같은 추가적인 전장 부품들을 더 포함할 수 있다. 냉각 장치는 냉각 팬을 포함할 수 있다. 냉각 팬은 배터리 팩(100) 내부의 공기를 순환시킴으로써 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120) 각각의 과열을 방지할 수 있다. PRA는 고전압 배터리의 전력을 외부 부하(예컨대, 차량의 모터)로 공급하거나 차단하도록 구성될 수 있다. PRA는 전압 서지 등과 같은 이상 전압이 발생하는 상황에서 외부 부하(예컨대, 차량의 모터)로의 전원 공급을 차단함으로써 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120) 및 외부 부하(예컨대, 차량의 모터)를 보호할 수 있다. 추가적인 전장 부품들은 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)과 측벽(115)의 사이에 개재될 수 있다. 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)과 측벽(115)의 사이의 공간은 전장 부품 실장 영역이라고 지칭될 수도 있다.
배터리 팩(100)은 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)을 전기적으로 연결시키도록 구성된 복수의 인터 버스바들을 더 포함할 수 있다. 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)은 복수의 인터 버스바들에 의해 직렬로 연결될 수 있다. 이에 따라, 배터리 팩(100)은 외부의 부하(예컨대, 차량의 모터)에 높은 전압을 출력하도록 구성될 수 있다.
도 10 및 도 11을 참조하여 설명한 배터리 팩(100)은 각각 배터리 셀(121)을 커버하며, 상변화 물질을 포함하는 셀 커버(121F)를 포함하는 복수의 커버-셀 어셈블리들(122)로 구성된 복수의 배터리 셀 어셈블리들(120)을 포함할 수 있다. 이에 의해, 상변화에 의해 열을 흡수하거나 방출하여 배터리 팩(100)의 온도를 관리할 수 있다.
본 발명의 기술적 사상에 의한 실시예들에 따라, 안전성이 제고된 배터리 팩(100)을 제공할 수 있다.

Claims (11)
- 제1 방향으로 적층되는 양극 및 음극을 포함하는 전극 어셈블리;상기 전극 어셈블리를 수용하는 케이스;상기 케이스에 결합되는 셀 커버; 및상기 셀 커버의 일 면과 상기 케이스 사이의 에어 포켓을 포함하고,상기 셀 커버는 상변화 물질(PCM; Phase Change Material)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 전극 어셈블리 및 상기 케이스는 배터리 셀을 구성하고,상기 셀 커버는 상기 배터리 셀의 주면과 상기 제1 방향으로 오버랩하는 제1 부분 및 상기 제1 부분과 연결되며, 상기 배터리 셀과 상기 제1 방향과 교차하는 제2 방향으로 오버랩하는 제2 부분을 포함하고,상기 에어 포켓은 상기 배터리 셀과 상기 셀 커버의 상기 제2 부분 사이에 배치되며,상기 배터리 셀의 상기 주면 및 상기 셀 커버의 상기 제1 부분은 밀착한 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제2 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버의 상기 제1 부분은 상기 배터리 셀의 상기 주면을 완전히 덮는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제2 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버의 상기 제1 부분은 상기 배터리 셀의 상기 주면의 적어도 일부를 덮지 않는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 케이스와 상기 셀 커버는 제1 방향과 교차하는 제2 방향으로 이격한 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버는 패드 케이스 및 상기 패드 케이스에 의해 패키징 된 상기 상변화 물질을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제6 항에 있어서,상기 패드 케이스는 실리콘, 폴리우레탄, 폴리프로필렌, 금속, 및 스테인리스 스틸 중 선택되는 하나를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버는 시트 및 상기 시트 상에 적용된 코팅 층을 포함하고,상기 코팅 층은 상기 상변화 물질을 내포하는 캡슐 및 상기 캡슐과 혼합된 바인더를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버는 상기 상변화 물질을 밀봉하는 폴리머 필름을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 제1 항에 있어서,상기 셀 커버는 열전도 컴파운드 층 및 상기 열전도 컴파운드 층 내에 분산된 상기 상변화 물질을 내포하는 캡슐을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 커버-셀 어셈블리.
- 팩 하우징;상기 팩 하우징 내에, 제1 방향으로 배열된 복수의 배터리 셀; 및상기 복수의 배터리 셀 중 대응하는 것에 결합된 복수의 셀 커버를 포함하고,상기 복수의 셀 커버 각각의 제1 부분은 상기 복수의 배터리 셀의 주면과 상기 제1 방향으로 밀착하고,상기 복수의 셀 커버 각각의 제2 부분은 상기 복수의 배터리 셀의 상부와 상기 제1 방향과 교차하는 제2 방향으로 이격하고,상기 셀 커버는 상변화 물질(PCM; Phase Change Material)을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 배터리 팩.
