Description

배터리 모듈용 버스바 접합판 및 이를 포함하는 배터리 모듈
본 발명은 배터리 모듈에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 벤딩 구조의 버스바 접합판 및 이러한 버스바 접합판을 통해 FPCB 파손이 방지되는 배터리 모듈에 관한 것이다.
이차전지는 충전이 불가능한 일차전지와는 달리, 충·방전이 가능한 전지를 말하는 것으로서, 휴대용 기기뿐만 아니라 전기적 구동원에 의하여 구동하는 전기차량(EV, Electric Vehicle), 하이브리드 차량(HEV, Hybrid Electric Vehicle) 등에 응용되고 있다.
현재 널리 사용되는 이차전지의 종류에는 리튬 이온 전지, 리튬 폴리머 전지, 니켈 카드뮴 전지, 니켈 수소 전지, 니켈 아연 전지 등이 있다. 이러한 단위 이차전지 셀, 즉, 단위 배터리 셀의 작동 전압은 약 2.5V ~ 4.6V이다. 따라서, 이보다 더 높은 출력 전압이 요구될 경우, 다수의 배터리 셀을 직렬로 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성한다. 또한, 배터리 팩에 요구되는 충방전 용량에 따라 다수의 배터리 셀을 병렬 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성하기도 한다. 따라서, 상기 배터리 팩에 포함되는 배터리 셀의 개수는 요구되는 출력 전압 또는 충방전 용량에 따라 다양하게 설정될 수 있다.
다수의 배터리 셀을 직렬/병렬로 연결하여 배터리 팩을 구성할 경우, 적어도 하나의 배터리 셀, 바람직하게, 다수의 배터리 셀로 이루어지는 배터리 모듈을 먼저 구성하고, 이러한 배터리 모듈을 적어도 하나 이용하고 기타 구성요소를 추가해 배터리 팩을 구성하는 방법이 일반적이다. 여기서, 배터리 모듈은 다수의 배터리 셀이 직렬 내지 병렬로 연결된 구성요소를 의미하고, 배터리 팩은 용량 및 출력 등을 높이기 위해 다수의 배터리 모듈이 직렬 내지 병렬로 연결된 구성요소를 의미할 수 있다.
배터리 모듈은 버스바(busbar)를 이용하여 다수의 셀을 전기적으로 연결하여 구성되고, 배터리 셀의 전극리드가 버스바에 연결된다.
그리고, 이러한 버스바가 모듈 내 버스바 프레임 부품의 FPCB(Flexible Printed Circuit Board)의 회로부에 연결되는데, 해당 FPCB는 모듈 조립공정 또는 주행 중 충격에 의해 파손될 가능성 있다. 해당 FPCB 회로부에 크랙 발생시 배터리 구동에 심각한 문제를 초래할 수 있다.
본 발명은 전술한 바와 같은 문제점을 해결하기 위한 것으로, 버스바 프레임 부품의 FPCB(Flexible Printed Circuit Board)의 회로부와 버스바를 연결하기 위한 벤딩 구조 버스바 접합판 및 이러한 버스바 접합판을 통해 해당 FPCB 파손을 방지할 수 있는 배터리 모듈을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 배터리 모듈용 버스바 접합판은 복수의 전지셀을 포함하는 배터리 모듈에서 복수의 상기 전지셀의 전기적 연결을 위한 버스바와 회로기판을 연결하기 위해 상기 버스바에 결합되는 배터리 모듈용 버스바 접합판에 있어서, 상기 버스바에 결합되는 버스바 결합부; 상기 회로기판에 연결되는 기판 결합부; 및 상기 버스바 결합부와 상기 기판 결합부 사이의 연결부;를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
또한, 상기 버스바 결합부, 상기 기판 결합부 및 상기 연결부는 일체로 형성될 수 있다.
또한, 상기 버스바 접합판은 단차지게 형성된다.
또한, 상기 버스바 결합부는 상기 기판 결합부보다 상기 배터리 모듈의 외측에 배치된다.
또한, 상기 연결부의 일단은 상기 버스바 결합부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 내측방향으로 연장된다.
또한, 상기 기판 결합부의 일단은 상기 연결부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 폭방향으로 연장된다.
또한, 상기 버스바 접합판은 상기 버스바와 동일한 재질로 이루어진다.
상기 버스바 결합부는 정사각형으로 이루어질 수 있다.
상기 기판 결합부는 말린(rolled) 단부를 가질 수 있다.
본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 배터리 모듈은 복수의 전지셀이 적층되는 전지셀 적층체; 상기 전지셀 적층체를 수용하기 위한 모듈 케이스; 및 상기 전지셀을 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 버스바; 상기 전지셀 적층체의 일측에서 하나 이상의 상기 버스바가 배치되는 버스바 프레임; 및 상기 버스바 프레임 상에 배치되는 회로기판; 상기 버스바와 상기 회로기판의 전기적 연결을 위해 상기 버스바에 결합되는 버스바 접합판;을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.
상기 버스바 프레임 상의 상기 회로기판은 평판으로 이루어질 수 있다.
본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 버스바 접합판 및 배터리 모듈은 벤딩 구조의 버스바 접합판을 통해 해당 FPCB 파손을 방지할 수 있다.

본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 배터리 모듈(1000)은 복수의 전지셀(110)이 적층된 전지셀 적층체(100), 전지셀 적층체(100)를 수용하는 모듈 케이스(200), 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일면 및/또는 타면 상에 위치하는 버스바 프레임(300), 버스바 프레임(300)의 외측에 배치되는 절연 커버(500), 및 절연 커버(500)의 외측에 배치되는 엔드 플레이트(400)를 포함할 수 있다.
상기 전지셀 적층체(100)는 복수의 전지셀(110)이 일 방향을 따라 적층되어 이루어질 수 있고, 복수의 전지셀(110)은 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 복수의 전지셀(110)이 적층되는 방향은 도 2에서 X축 방향(또는 -X축 방향)일 수 있다.
전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면으로부터 후면을 향하는 방향, 또는 그 반대 방향은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 길이 방향으로 정의될 수 있고, 도면상에서 Y축 방향일 수 있다. 또한, 전지셀 적층체(100)의 상면으로부터 하면을 향하는 방향, 또는 그 반대 방향은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 폭 방향으로 정의될 수 있고, 도면상에서 Z축 방향일 수 있다.
전지셀 적층체(100)의 길이 방향은 전지셀(110)의 길이 방향과 실질적으로 동일할 수 있다. 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 및 후면에는 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)가 위치할 수 있고, 배터리 모듈(1000)의 버스바(310, 320)는 전극리드(111, 112)와의 전기적 연결을 용이하게 형성하도록 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 및 후면과 가까이 배치될 수 있다.
전지셀(110)은 파우치형 전지셀로 제공될 수 있고, 파우치형 전지셀은 단위 면적당 적층되는 수가 최대화될 수 있다. 그러나, 전지셀(110)은 반드시 파우치형으로 제공되어야 하는 것은 아니며, 각형, 원통형 또는 그 밖의 다양한 형태로 제공될 수도 있다.
파우치형으로 제공되는 전지셀(110)은 전극조립체 및 이 전극조립체를 수용하는 셀 케이스(115)를 포함할 수 있다(도 3 참조).
전지셀(110)의 셀 케이스(115)는 전극조립체를 수용하기 위한 것으로 파우치형 셀 케이스(115)일 수 있다. 셀 케이스(115)는 하부 케이스와, 하부 케이스를 덮는 상부 케이스를 포함하고, 상, 하부 케이스는 일체로 이루어질 수 있다. 또한, 도 3에 도시된 바와 같이 상, 하부 케이스의 연결부분이 절곡되어 폴딩되는 구조로 이루어질 수 있다. 그리고, 도시된 바와 같이 상부 케이스가 하부 케이스를 완전히 덮고 주변부에 실링부(114)가 형성될 수 있다.
상, 하부 케이스는 모두 내부 피복층, 금속층 및 외부 피복층을 포함하는 라미네이트 구조로 이루어질 수 있다. 내부 피복층은 금속층을 기준으로 셀 케이스(115) 내측에 위치하는 것으로, 전극조립체와 직접 접촉하므로 절연성과 내전해성을 가져야 하고, 또 외부와의 밀폐를 위하여 실링성 즉, 내부층끼리 열 접착된 실링 부위는 우수한 열접착 강도를 가지는 것이 요구된다. 금속층은 내부 피복층과 외부 피복층 사이에 위치하여 외부로부터 수분이나 각종 가스가 전지 내부로 침투하는 것을 방지하는 배리어층에 해당되고, 내부 피복층에 접하는 금속층의 바람직한 재료로는 가벼우면서도 성형성이 우수한 알루미늄(Al) 박막을 사용할 수 있다. 외부 피복층은 금속층을 기준으로 셀 케이스(115)의 외측에 위치하는 것으로, 이러한 외부 피복층은 전극조립체를 보호하면서 내열성과 내화학성을 확보할 수 있도록 인장강도, 투습방지성 및 공기투과 방지성이 우수한 내열성 폴리머를 사용할 수 있고, 일례로 나일론 또는 폴리에틸렌테레프탈레이트를 사용할 수 있다.
상, 하부 케이스에는 각각 수용홈(116)이 형성될 수 있고, 상, 하부 케이스의 수용홈(116) 내에 전극조립체가 수납될 수 있다.
셀 케이스(115)에 수납되는 전극조립체는 긴 시트형의 양극 및 음극 사이에 분리막이 개재된 후 권취되는 구조로 이루어지는 젤리-롤형 전극조립체, 장방형의 양극 및 음극이 분리막을 사이에 개재한 상태로 적층되는 구조의 단위셀들로 구성되는 스택형 전극조립체, 단위셀들이 긴 분리필름에 의해 권취되는 스택-폴딩형 전극조립체, 단위셀들이 분리막을 사이에 개재한 상태로 적층되어 서로 간에 부착되는 라미네이션-스택형 전극조립체 등으로 이루어진 군에서 하나일 수 있다.
또한, 전극조립체는 두 개의 전극탭과, 이 전극탭에 각각 용접부에 의해 연결되는 두 개의 전극리드(111, 112)를 포함할 수 있다.
두 개의 전극리드(111, 112) 중 하나의 전극리드(111, 112)는 양극탭에 연결되는 양극리드일 수 있고, 나머지 하나의 전극리드(111, 112)는 음극탭에 연결되는 음극리드일 수 있다. 일례로 양극의 전극리드(111)는 알루미늄(Al)으로 이루어질 수 있고, 음극의 전극리드(112)는 구리(Cu)로 이루어질 수 있다.
전극리드(111, 112)에는 각각 리드필름(113)이 부착될 수 있다. 전극리드(111, 112)에 결합되는 리드필름(113)은 전극리드(111, 112)와 셀 케이스(115) 사이에 위치하여 전극리드(111, 112)와 셀 케이스(115) 사이에 단락이 발생되는 것을 방지하고 밀봉력을 향상시켜 전해액의 누출 등을 방지할 수 있다.
두 개의 전극리드(111, 112)는 전극조립체의 양측에 각각 배치되는 것으로 도시되었으나, 전극탭의 배치에 따라 전극조립체의 일측에만 배치될 수도 있다.
상기 모듈 케이스(200)는 전지셀 적층체(100) 및 이와 연결된 전장품을 외부의 물리적 충격으로부터 보호하기 위한 것일 수 있고, 모듈 케이스(200)는 전지셀 적층체(100) 및 이와 연결된 전장품을 모듈 케이스(200)의 내부 공간에 수용할 수 있다.
모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 다양할 수 있고, 일례로 모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 모노 프레임의 구조일 수 있다. 여기서, 모노 프레임은 상면, 하면 및 양 측면이 일체화된 금속 판재의 형태일 수 있다. 모노 프레임은 압출 성형으로 제조될 수 있다. 다른 예로, 모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 U자형 프레임과 상부 플레이트(상면(201))가 결합된 구조일 수 있다. U자형 프레임과 상부 플레이트가 결합된 구조의 경우, 모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 하면 및 양 측면이 결합된 또는 일체화된 금속 판재인 U자형 프레임의 상측에 상부 플레이트가 결합되어 형성될 수 있으며, 각 프레임 또는 플레이트는 프레스 성형으로 제조될 수 있다. 또한, 모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 모노 프레임 또는 U자형 프레임 외에 L형 프레임의 구조로 제공될 수도 있으며, 상술한 예에서 설명하지 않은 다양한 구조로 제공될 수도 있다.
모듈 케이스(200)의 구조는 전지셀 적층체(100)의 길이 방향을 따라 개방된 형태로 제공될 수 있다. 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 및 후면은 모듈 케이스(200)에 의해 가려지지 않을 수 있다. 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)는 모듈 케이스(200)에 의해 가려지지 않을 수 있다. 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 및 후면은 후술할 버스바 프레임(300), 엔드 플레이트(400) 또는 버스바(310, 320) 등에 의해 가려질 수 있으며, 이를 통해 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 및 후면은 외부의 물리적 충격 등으로부터 보호될 수 있다.
전지셀 적층체(100)와 모듈 케이스(200)의 내부면 중 일측면 사이에는 압축 패드(150)가 위치할 수 있다.
압축 패드(150)는 전지셀 적층체(100)에서 도면상 X축 방향으로 전지셀 적층체(100)의 최외곽에 있는 전지셀(110)에 대향되도록 배치될 수 있다.
또한 도시되지 않았으나, 전지셀 적층체(100)와 모듈 케이스(200)의 내부면 사이에는 열전도성 수지가 주액될 수 있으며, 주액된 열전도성 수지에 의하여 전지셀 적층체(100)와 모듈 케이스(200)의 내부면 중 일면 사이에 열전도성 수지층(미도시)이 형성될 수 있다. 이 때, 열전도성 수지층은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 Z축 상에 위치할 수 있으며, 열전도성 수지층은 전지셀 적층체(100)와 모듈 케이스(200)의 -Z축 상에 위치한 바닥면 사이에 형성될 수 있다.
상기 버스바 프레임(300)은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일면 상에 위치하여, 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일면을 커버함과 동시에 전지셀 적층체(100)와 외부 기기와의 연결을 안내할 수 있다. 구체적으로 버스바 프레임(300)은 도시된 바와 같이 전지셀 적층체(100)의 전면 또는 후면 상에 위치할 수 있고, 상면, 하면, 또는 측면에 위치할 수도 있다. 버스바 프레임(300)에는 버스바(310, 320) 및 모듈 커넥터 중 적어도 하나가 장착될 수 있다. 도 2에 도시된 바와 같이, 버스바 프레임(300)의 일면은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일면 또는 타면과 연결되고, 버스바 프레임(300)의 타면은 버스바(310, 320)에 연결될 수 있다.
버스바 프레임(300)은 전기적으로 절연인 소재로 이루어지거나 절연 소재를 포함할 수 있다. 버스바 프레임(300)은 버스바(310, 320)가 전극리드(111, 112)와 접합된 부분 외에 전지셀(110)들의 다른 부분과 접촉하는 것을 제한할 수 있으며, 전기적 단락이 발생되는 것을 방지할 수 있다.
버스바 프레임(300)은 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일측 및 타측에 각각 위치할 수도 있다.
도 6은 본 발명의 일실시예에서 버스바 프레임(300)을 도시한 도면이다. 버스바 프레임(300)의 일면에 버스바(310, 320)가 장착될 수 있고, 버스바(310, 320)는 전지셀 적층체(100) 또는 전지셀(110)들과 외부 기기 회로를 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 것일 수 있다. 버스바(310, 320)는 복수 개가 배치될 수 있고, 전지셀 적층체(100) 또는 버스바 프레임(300)과 엔드 플레이트(400) 사이에 위치함으로써 외부의 충격 등으로부터 보호될 수 있으며, 외부의 수분 등에 의한 내구성 저하가 최소화될 수 있다.
버스바(310, 320)는 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)를 통해 전지셀 적층체(100)와 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다.
구체적으로 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)는 버스바 프레임(300)에 형성된 리드 슬릿을 통과한 후 구부러져 버스바(310, 320)와 연결될 수 있다.
버스바(310)는 전지셀을 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 것일 수 있고, 버스바(310)의 양측에 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)가 연결될 수 있고, 버스바(310, 320)의 일측에 연결되는 전극리드(111)는 양극리드일 수 있고, 버스바(310, 320)의 타측에 연결되는 전극리드(112)는 음극리드일 수 있다.
그리고, 버스바(310, 320)에는 버스바 접합판(busbar weld plate)(330)이 결합될 수 있다. 버스바 접합판(330)은 센싱부(센싱 플레이트)(350)의 회로기판(FPCB(Flexible Printed Circuit Board))(340)에 연결될 수 있다.
즉, 센싱부(350)는 버스바(310, 320)에 결합된 버스바 접합판(330)을 통해 버스바(310, 320)에 연결되어 전지셀(110)의 전압 등을 센싱할 수 있다.
본 실시예에서 센싱부(350)의 회로기판(FPCB)(340)은 버스바 프레임(300)에 배치될 수 있고, 버스바 프레임(300) 상에서 회로기판(340)은 평판 형태로 이루어질 수 있다.
본 발명의 일실시예에서 버스바 접합판(330)은 도 8에 도시된 바와 같이 단차진 형태로 이루어질 수 있다.
구체적으로 버스바 접합판(330)은 버스바 결합부(331), 연결부(332), 및 기판 결합부(333)를 포함할 수 있고, 전반적으로 버스바 접합판(330)은 얇은 플레이트 형태로 배터리 모듈(1000)의 폭방향(X축 방향 또는 -X축 방향)을 따라 연장될 수 있다. 버스바 접합판(330)은 버스바(310, 320)의 길이방향(Z축 방향)에 직교하는 방향으로 연장될 수 있다.
버스바 결합부(331)는 버스바 접합판(330)에서 버스바(310, 320)와 결합되는 부분으로 배터리 모듈(1000)의 폭방향(X축 방향 또는 -X축 방향)으로 연장될 수 있고, 버스바(310, 320)의 상부에서 용접 등으로 버스바(310, 320)에 접합될 수 있다. 버스바(310, 320)의 일면(전면)에는 전지셀(110)의 전극리드(111, 112)가 결합될 수 있고, 전극리드(111, 112)가 결합되는 버스바(310, 320)의 일면에서 전극리드(111, 112)가 연결되지 않는 부분에 버스바 결합부(331)가 결합될 수 있다. 버스바 결합부(331)는 버스바(310, 320)의 상부 좌측에서 우측방향으로 연장될 수 있다.
연결부(332)는 버스바 결합부(331)와 기판 결합부(333) 사이에서 버스바 결합부(331)와 기판 결합부(333)를 서로 연결한다.
연결부(332)는 그 일단이 버스바 결합부(331)에서 절곡되어 배터리 모듈(1000)의 내측방향(전지셀(110) 방향)(Y축 방향 또는 -Y축 방향)으로 연장될 수 있다. 연결부(332)의 일단은 버스바 결합부(331)에서 약 90도로 절곡될 수 있다. 도 7, 및 도 9에서와 같이 연결부(332)는 버스바 결합부(331)의 우측단에서 절곡되어 버스바(310, 320) 측면에 배치될 수 있다.
기판 결합부(333)는 버스바 접합판(330)에서 회로기판(FPCB)(340)에 연결되는 부분으로 기판 결합부(333)의 일단이 연결부(332)에서 절곡되어 배터리 모듈(1000)의 폭방향(X축 방향 또는 -X축 방향) 또는 인접한 버스바(310, 320) 방향으로 연장될 수 있다.
버스바 접합판(330)에서 버스바 결합부(331), 연결부(332), 및 기판 결합부(333)는 일체로 형성될 수 있고, 단차진 형태로 이루어질 수 있다. 본 실시예에서 버스바 접합판(330)은 알루미늄, 구리 등의 금속재질로 이루어질 수 있다. 그리고, 버스바 접합판(330)은 버스바(310, 320)와 동일한 재질로 이루어질 수 있다. 즉, 버스바(310, 320)가 알루미늄으로 이루어지면 버스바 접합판(330) 또한 알루미늄으로 이루어질 수 있고, 버스바(310, 320)가 구리로 이루어지면 버스바 접합판(330)도 구리로 이루어질 수 있다.
이와 같이 버스바 접합판(330)이 버스바(310, 320)와 동일한 재질로 이루어질 경우 용접으로 동종 접합될 수 있고 용접성이 개선될 수 있다.
배터리 모듈(1000)에서 회로기판(FPCB)(340)에 대해 버스바(310, 320)가 평면상에 배치되지 않을 수 있다.
즉, 회로기판(FPCB)(340)보다 버스바(310, 320)가 배터리 모듈의 길이방향(Y축 방향 또는 -Y축 방향)으로 더 돌출되어 배치될 수 있다. 이 경우 회로기판(FPCB)(340)에 단차 구간 또는 꺾임 구간이 발생할 수 있고 조립 공정에서 회로기판(FPCB)(340)에 단차 구간 또는 꺾임 구간에 크랙(crack)이 발생하거나 배터리 모듈(1000)이 장착된 차량 주행 중 충격에 의해 파손될 가능성이 있다.
본 실시예에서는 버스바 접합판(330)에 단차 구성 또는 벤딩 구성을 적용함으로써 회로기판(FPCB)(340)을 꺾임 구간(단차 구성)이 없는 평판으로 구성하거나 꺾임 구간을 최소화하여 회로기판(FPCB)(340) 내 단선 가능성을 감소시킬 수 있다.
버스바(310, 320)에 의해 전지셀 적층체(100)를 구성하는 전지셀(110)들이 직렬 또는 병렬로 연결될 수 있다.
한편, 도 10 및 도 11은 본 발명에서 제2 실시예에 따른 버스바 접합판(330)을 도시한 도면이다.
제2 실시예에 따른 버스바 접합판(330)이 전술한 제1 실시예와 다른 점은 제2 실시예에서는 버스바 접합판(330)의 버스바 결합부(331)가 정사각형으로 이루어진다는 점이다. 제2 실시예의 버스바 접합판(330) 또한 버스바 결합부(331), 연결부(332), 및 기판 결합부(333)를 포함할 수 있다.
이와 같이 제2 실시예에서 버스바 접합판(330)의 버스바 결합부(331)가 정사각형으로 이루어짐으로써 버스바 접합판(330)의 방향을 가로-세로로 전환이 가능하다는 점이다.
도 10은 버스바 접합판(330)이 버스바 프레임(300)의 폭방향(X축 방향)으로 배치된 예를 도시한 것이고, 도 11은 버스바 접합판(330)이 버스바 프레임(300)의 높이방향(Z축 방향)으로 배치된 예를 도시한 것이다. 도 10에서는 버스바 접합판(330)의 연결부(332)가 버스바(310, 320)의 측면을 덮는 형태로 이루어지고, 도 11에서는 버스바 접합판(330)의 연결부(332)가 버스바(310, 320)의 상면을 덮는 형태로 이루어질 수 있다.
제2 실시예에서는 버스바(310, 320), 버스바 프레임(300), 회로기판(340)의 배치에 따라 버스바 접합판(330)의 방향을 가로 또는 세로로 전환하여 배치할 수 있는 장점이 있다.
그 외 구성 및 효과에 대해서는 전술한 제1 실시예와 동일하여 여기서는 그 상세한 설명은 생략한다.
도 12 및 도 13은 본 발명에서 제3 실시예에 따른 버스바 접합판(330)을 도시한 도면이다.
제3 실시예에 따른 버스바 접합판(330)이 이전 실시예와 다른 점은 제3 실시예에서는 버스바 접합판(330)의 기판 결합부(333)의 단부가 연결부(332) 방향으로 구부러질 수 있고, 연결부(332)방향으로 말린(rolled) 형태로 이루어질 수 있다는 점이다. 제2 실시예의 버스바 접합판(330) 또한 버스바 결합부(331), 연결부(332), 및 기판 결합부(333)를 포함할 수 있다.
제3 실시예에서 버스바 접합판(330)의 기판 결합부(333)는 연결부(332) 방향으로 구부러진 또는 연결부(332) 방향으로 말린 단부(333a)을 가질 수 있다.
도 13에 도시된 바와 같이 기판 결합부(333)는 회로기판(340)의 통공(341)을 통과할 수 있다. 즉, 기판 결합부(333)는 회로기판(340)의 일면에서 통공(341)을 통과하여 반대쪽 타면으로 나올 수 있고, 구부러진 단부(333a) 또는 말린 단부(333a)는 회로기판(340)의 타면에서 회로기판(340)에 접촉할 수 있다.
제3 실시예에서 기판 결합부(333)는 회로기판(340)의 통공(341)에 삽입되고, 연결부(332) 방향으로 말린 단부(333a)가 회로기판(340)에 접촉함으로써 회로기판(340)과 보다 견고하게 결합될 수 있고 전기적 연결이 안정적으로 유지될 수 있다. 그리고, 기판 결합부(333)에서 단부(333a)는 강성이 향상될 수 있다.
버스바(310, 320)는 하나의 배터리 모듈(1000)을 다른 배터리 모듈(1000)에 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 터미널 버스바(320)를 포함할 수 있다.
다른 배터리 모듈(1000)과 연결되기 위해서 터미널 버스바(320)의 적어도 일부는 엔드 플레이트(400)의 외부로 노출될 수 있으며, 엔드 플레이트(400)에는 이를 위한 터미널 개구부(410)가 구비될 수 있다.
터미널 버스바(320)는 그 일단부(제2부분(322))가 절연 커버(500)의 개구부(510)와 엔드 플레이트(400)의 터미널 개구부(410)를 통해 노출될 수 있다.
도 4에 도시된 바와 같이 터미널 버스바(320)는 전지셀(110)의 전극 리드(111, 112)와 연결되는 제1 부분(321) 및 터미널 개구부(410)를 통해 외부로 노출되는 제2 부분(322)을 포함할 수 있다. 또한, 터미널 버스바(320)는 제1 부분(321)과 제2 부분(322) 사이에 형성된 벤딩부(323)를 더 포함할 수 있다.
터미널 버스바(320)에서 제1 부분(321)은 벤딩부(323)를 통해 제2 부분(322)과 연결될 수 있고, 제1 부분(321)의 일면과 제2 부분(322)의 일면은 서로 수직할 수 있다. 즉, 터미널 버스바(320)에 구부러진 벤딩부(323)를 형성하여, 제2 부분(322)이 돌출되어 절연 커버(500)의 안착부(530)에 안착되고, 제2 부분(322)이 팩 버스바(미도시)와 전기적으로 연결될 수 있다. 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부를 구성하는 제2 부분(322)에는 결합공(322a)이 형성되고 이 결합공(322a)에 삽입되는 고정핀(미도시)에 의해 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)이 고정된다.
본 실시예에서 버스바 프레임(300)에는 양측에 두 개의 터미널 버스바(320)가 배치될 수 있다.
두 개의 터미널 버스바(320)에서 하나의 터미널 버스바(320)는 양극(+)의 터미널 버스바(320)일 수 있고, 다른 하나는 음극(-)의 터미널 버스바(320)일 수 있다.
본 실시예에서 도 6에서 좌측의 터미널 버스바(320)는 양극(+)의 터미널 버스바(320)일 수 있고 알루미늄(Al)으로 이루어질 수 있다.
알루미늄으로 이루어지는 좌측의 터미널 버스바(320)에는 알루미늄으로 된 양극의 전극리드(111)가 접합될 수 있고, 동종의 금속 접합으로 이루어져 용접성이 개선될 수 있다.
도 4에서 터미널 버스바(320)의 제1 부분(321)에 전극리드(111)가 용접으로 접합될 수 있다. 터미널 버스바(320)는 니켈 도금(Ni plating) 및 주석 도금(Sn plating)이 이루어질 수 있다.
또한, 터미널 버스바(320)에서 벤딩부(323)에는 버스바 접합판(330)이 결합될 수 있다. 전술한 바와 같이 센싱부는 터미널 버스바(320)에 결합된 버스바 접합판(330)을 통해 터미널 버스바(320)에 연결되어 전지셀(110)의 전압 등을 센싱할 수 있다. 터미널 버스바(320)에도 전술한 실시예들의 버스바 접합판(330)이 적용될 수 있다.
본 실시예에서 알루미늄으로 이루어지는 좌측의 터미널 버스바(320)에는 알루미늄의 버스바 접합판(330)이 결합될 수 있다. 따라서, 알루미늄으로 이루어지는 양극의 터미널 버스바(320)에 용접으로 동종 접합될 수 있고 용접성이 개선될 수 있다.
도 6에서 우측의 터미널 버스바(320)는 음극(+)의 터미널 버스바(320)일 수 있고 구리(Cu)로 이루어질 수 있다.
구리로 이루어지는 우측의 터미널 버스바(320)에는 구리로 된 음극의 전극리드(112)가 접합될 수 있고, 동종의 금속 접합으로 이루어져 용접성이 개선될 수 있다.
또한, 우측의 터미널 버스바(320)에도 버스바 접합판(330)이 결합될 수 있고, 구리로 이루어지는 음극의 터미널 버스바(320)에 구리의 버스바 접합판(330)이 용접으로 동종 접합될 수 있고 용접성이 개선될 수 있다.
상기 엔드 플레이트(400)는 모듈 케이스(200)의 개방된 면을 커버함으로써, 전지셀 적층체(100) 및 이와 연결된 전장품을 외부의 물리적 충격으로부터 보호하기 위한 것일 수 있다. 이를 위해 엔드 플레이트(400)는 소정의 강도를 가지는 물질로 제조될 수 있고, 예를 들어, 엔드 플레이트(400)는 알루미늄과 같은 금속 또는 플라스틱 소재를 포함할 수 있다.
엔드 플레이트(400)에는 터미널 개구부(410)가 형성될 수 있다. 터미널 개구부(410)는 엔드 플레이트(400)의 양측에 각각 배치될 수 있고, 터미널 개구부(410)를 통해 절연 커버(500)의 일부 및 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2 부분(322))가 노출될 수 있다.
그리고, 엔드 플레이트(400)의 양측에 위치하는 터미널 개구부(410) 사이에는 커넥터 개구부가 위치할 수 있고, 커넥터 개구부를 통해 모듈 커넥터가 외부로 노출될 수 있다.
엔드 플레이트(400)는 전지셀 적층체(100)의 일면 상에 위치하는 버스바 프레임(300) 또는 버스바(310, 320)를 덮으면서 모듈 케이스(200)와 결합될 수 있다. 엔드 플레이트(400)의 각 모서리는 모듈 케이스(200)의 대응하는 모서리와 용접, 볼트 체결, 후크 체결 등의 방법으로 결합될 수 있다.
엔드 플레이트(400)는 전지셀 적층체(100)의 양면을 덮도록 모듈 케이스(200)의 일면 및 타면에 각각 위치할 수 있다. 본 실시예에서는 모듈 케이스(200)의 전후면에 엔드 플레이트(400)가 위치하는 예를 도시하였다.
절연 커버(500)는 엔드 플레이트(400) 내측에 배치될 수 있고, 버스바 프레임(300)외측에 배치될 수 있다. 또한, 엔드 플레이트(400)와 버스바 프레임(300) 사이에 전기적 절연을 위한 절연 커버(500)가 위치할 수 있다. 즉, 전지셀 적층체(100)로부터 외측으로 버스바 프레임(300), 절연 커버(500) 및 엔드 플레이트(400)가 순차적으로 위치할 수 있다. 엔드 플레이트(400)와 마찬가지로 버스바 프레임(300) 및 절연 커버(500)는 각각 복수로 구성될 수 있다.
절연 커버(500)는 전기적 절연 소재로 이루어지거나 절연 소재를 포함할 수 있고 버스바(310, 320)가 엔드 플레이트(400)와 접촉하는 것을 차단할 수 있다.
절연 커버(500)는 개구부(510) 및 안착부(530)를 포함할 수 있다. 개구부(510)는 절연 커버(500)의 상부 양측에 각각 배치될 수 있고, 개구부(510)를 통해 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2 부분(322))가 노출될 수 있다.
그리고, 절연 커버(500)의 양측에 위치하는 개구부(510) 사이에는 커넥터 개구부가 위치할 수 있고, 커넥터 개구부를 통해 모듈 커넥터가 외부로 노출될 수 있다.
절연 커버(500)는 엔드 플레이트(400)의 내부면에 위치할 수 있으며, 엔드 플레이트(400)의 내부면에 밀착될 수 있으나, 반드시 그러한 것은 아니다.
전술한 바와 같이 개구부(510)를 통해 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2 부분(322))가 노출될 수 있고, 이 노출된 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2 부분(322))가 안착부(530)에 안착될 수 있다. 따라서, 안착부(530)는 개구부(510)에 인접하게 배치될 수 있고 상부 외측면에 배치될 수 있다.
안착부(530)는 그 상면에 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)이 안착될 수 있고 따라서 안착부(530)의 상면이 안착면을 형성할 수 있다. 또한, 도 5에 도시된 바와 같이 안착부(530)는 터미널 버스바(320)를 고정하기 위한 고정부재(531)를 포함할 수 있다.
고정부재(531)는 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)을 고정할 수 있고, 고정홀(531a)을 포함할 수 있다.
상기 고정홀(531a)에 고정핀(미도시)이 삽입될 수 있다. 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)에 형성된 결합공(322a)에 삽입되는 고정핀(미도시)이 고정홀(531a)에 결합되어 고정됨으로써 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)이 절연 커버(500)에 고정될 수 있다.
따라서, 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)이 절연 커버(500)의 안착부(530)에 안착되고 안착부(530)에 배치되는 고정부재((531)에 제2 부분(322)이 안착되어 접촉하게 된다.
그리고, 노출되는 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2부분(322))를 덮는 터미널 커버부(미도시)가 절연 커버(500)에 배치될 수 있다.
한편, 배터리 모듈(1000)간 전기적 연결은 팩 버스바(미도시)를 통해 이루어질 수 있다. 팩 버스바는 하나의 배터리 모듈(1000)을 인접한 다른 배터리 모듈(1000)이나 BDU(Battery Disconnection Unit)와 연결하기 위한 부재로써, 터미널 버스바(320)의 노출된 일단부(제2 부분(322))와 연결될 수 있다. 일례로, 팩 버스바가 터미널 버스바(320)의 일단부(제2 부분(322)의 상부에 중첩되어 연결될 수 있다.
팩 버스바의 일단이 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322) 위에 중첩하여 배치된 후 고정핀이 팩 버스바의 결합공 및 터미널 버스바(320)에서 제2 부분(322)의 결합공(322a)에 순차 삽입된 다음 고정핀이 안착부(530)의 고정홈(531a)에 고정되어 팩 버스바를 터미널 버스바(320)에 연결할 수 있다.
그리고, 고정핀에 의해 팩 버스바와 함께 터미널 버스바(320)의 제2 부분(322)이 절연 커버(500)에 고정될 수 있다.
전술한 바와 같은 본 발명에 따른 하나 이상의 배터리 모듈(1000)은 배터리 팩(2000)을 형성할 수 있다. 도 14에 도시된 바와 같이 본 발명의 일실시예에 따른 배터리 팩(2000)은 팩 케이스(2100) 내부에 적어도 하나 이상의 배터리 모듈(1000)을 수용할 수 있고, BMS(Battery Management System), 냉각 시스템 등의 각종 제어 및 보호 시스템을 포함할 수 있다.
팩 케이스(2100)는 하부 하우징(2110) 및 하부 하우징(2110) 상측에 결합되는 상부 하우징(미도시)을 포함할 수 있고, 하부 하우징(2110) 및 상부 하우징의 내부 공간에 복수의 배터리 모듈(1000)이 수납될 수 있다.
한편, 본 발명의 실시예에서는 배터리 팩(2000) 내부에 복수의 배터리 모듈(1000)이 수용되는 예를 도시하였으나, 배터리 팩(2000) 내부에 복수의 전지셀(110)이 바로 배치될 수도 있다.
이와 같이 구성되는 본 발명에 따른 배터리 모듈(1000) 및 배터리 팩(2000)은 다양한 디바이스에 적용될 수 있다. 구체적으로 전기 자전거, 전기 자동차, 하이브리드 자동차 등의 운송 수단이나 ESS(Energy Storage System)에 적용될 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않고 이차 전지를 사용할 수 있는 다양한 디바이스에 적용 가능하다.
도 15는 배터리 팩(2000)이 장착된 전기 자동차(V)를 도시한 도면이다. 전기 자동차(V)에서는 배터리 팩(2000)으로부터 전원을 공급받는 모터에 의해 휠이 구동되어 전기 자동차가 운행될 수 있다.
본 발명은 이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 바람직한 실시예를 들어 설명하였으나, 상기한 실시예에 한정되지 아니하며 본 발명의 정신을 벗어나지 않는 범위 내에서 당해 발명이 속하는 기술분야에서 통상의 지식을 가진 자에 의해 다양한 변경과 수정이 가능할 것이다.
본 발명은 FPCB 파손을 방지할 수 있는 벤딩 구조의 버스바 접합판 및 이를 포함한 배터리 모듈을 제공할 수 있다.

Claims (20)

  1. 복수의 전지셀을 포함하는 배터리 모듈에서 복수의 상기 전지셀의 전기적 연결을 위한 버스바와 회로기판을 연결하기 위해 상기 버스바에 결합되는 배터리 모듈용 버스바 접합판에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은
    상기 버스바에 결합되는 버스바 결합부;
    상기 회로기판에 연결되는 기판 결합부; 및
    상기 버스바 결합부와 상기 기판 결합부 사이의 연결부;
    를 포함하는 배터리 모듈용 버스바 접합판.
  2. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부, 상기 기판 결합부 및 상기 연결부는 일체로 형성되는 버스바 접합판.
  3. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은 단차지게 형성되는 버스바 접합판.
  4. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부는 상기 기판 결합부보다 상기 배터리 모듈의 외측에 배치되는 버스바 접합판.
  5. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 연결부의 일단은 상기 버스바 결합부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 내측방향으로 연장되는 버스바 접합판.
  6. 제5항에 있어서,
    상기 기판 결합부의 일단은 상기 연결부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 폭방향으로 연장되는 버스바 접합판.
  7. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은 상기 버스바와 동일한 재질로 이루어지는 버스바 접합판.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부는 정사각형으로 이루어지는 버스바 접합판.
  9. 제1항에 있어서,
    상기 기판 결합부는 말린(rolled) 단부를 가지는 버스바 접합판.
  10. 복수의 전지셀이 적층되는 전지셀 적층체;
    상기 전지셀 적층체를 수용하기 위한 모듈 케이스; 및
    상기 전지셀을 전기적으로 연결하기 위한 버스바;
    상기 전지셀 적층체의 일측에서 하나 이상의 상기 버스바가 배치되는 버스바 프레임; 및
    상기 버스바 프레임 상에 배치되는 회로기판;
    상기 버스바와 상기 회로기판의 전기적 연결을 위해 상기 버스바에 결합되는 버스바 접합판;을 포함하는 배터리 모듈.
  11. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은
    상기 버스바에 결합되는 버스바 결합부;
    상기 회로기판에 연결되는 기판 결합부; 및
    상기 버스바 결합부와 상기 기판 결합부 사이의 연결부;
    를 포함하는 배터리 모듈.
  12. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부, 상기 기판 결합부 및 상기 연결부는 일체로 형성되는 배터리 모듈.
  13. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은 단차지게 형성되는 배터리 모듈.
  14. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부는 상기 기판 결합부보다 상기 배터리 모듈의 외측에 배치되는 배터리 모듈.
  15. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 결합부는 정사각형으로 이루어지는 배터리 모듈.
  16. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 기판 결합부는 상기 연결부 방향으로 말린(rolled) 단부를 가지는 배터리 모듈.
  17. 제11항에 있어서,
    상기 연결부의 일단은 상기 버스바 결합부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 내측방향으로 연장되는 배터리 모듈.
  18. 제17항에 있어서,
    상기 기판 결합부의 일단은 상기 연결부에서 절곡되어 상기 배터리 모듈의 폭방향으로 연장되는 배터리 모듈.
  19. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 접합판은 상기 버스바와 동일한 재질로 이루어지는 배터리 모듈.
  20. 제10항에 있어서,
    상기 버스바 프레임 상의 상기 회로기판은 평판으로 이루어지는 배터리 모듈.
