 本発明は、通信装置に関する。
 高品質な無線通信を行うために、様々な無線品質の予測技術が様々研究開発されている。例えば、複数の伝搬路を有する無線通信システムの受信機側において、遮蔽物の移動を予測し、伝搬路の切り替えを制御する通信制御方法が知られている(例えば、特許文献1参照)。

 基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システムでは、各基地局で通信可能なエリアに限界があるため、端末の移動により、ハンドオーバ(通信先の基地局の変更)が発生する。ハンドオーバにより、無線品質が劣化する場合としない場合があるが、従来の技術では、ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測していないため、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化によって、無線品質の予測精度が低下していた。
 本発明の実施形態は、上記の課題に鑑みてなされたものであって、基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システムにおいて、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測できるようにする。
 上記の課題を解決するため、本発明の実施形態に係る通信装置は、基地局と無線通信を行う通信装置であって、ハンドオーバが発生したときに、前記ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と無線品質の情報とを記憶するデータベースと、ハンドオーバが予測されるときに、前記データベースに記憶した情報に基づいて、当該ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測し、出力する無線品質予測部と、を有する。
 本発明の実施形態によれば、基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システムにおいて、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測できるようになる。

 以下、図面を参照して本発明の実施の形態(本実施形態)を説明する。以下で説明する実施形態は一例に過ぎず、本発明が適用される実施形態は、以下の実施形態に限られない。
 <システム構成>
 図1は、本実施形態における無線通信システムのシステム構成の例を示す図である。無線通信システム1は、基地局10a、10b、・・・と、基地局10a、10b、・・・と無線通信を行う端末20と、を含む。無線通信システム1には、例えば、LTE(Long Term Evolution)、及び/又は5G(5th Generation)等の無線通信システムが含まれるが、これに限られない。なお、以下の説明において、基地局10a、10b、・・・のうち、任意の基地局を示す場合、「基地局10」を用いる。また、図1に示した基地局10の数は一例であり、2つ以上の他の数であってよい。
 (課題について)
 基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システム1では、各基地局10で通信可能なエリアに限界があるため、端末20の移動により、ハンドオーバ(通信先の基地局の変更)が発生する。例えば、図1において、端末20が、基地局10aと無線通信が可能な無線エリア11aから、基地局10bと無線通信が可能な無線エリア11bに移動するものとする。この場合、端末20の移動により、基地局10aから基地局10bにハンドオーバが発生し、このときに、無線品質が劣化する可能性がある。しかし、従来の技術では、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測することは困難である。
 そこで、本実施形態では、基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システム1において、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測できるようにするために、端末20は、例えば、図2に示すような機能構成を有している。
 <機能構成>
 図2は、本実施形態に係る端末の機能構成の例を示す図である。図2に示すように、端末(通信装置)20は、アンテナ201、通信部202、実績値DB(Database)203、ハンドオーバ予測部204、及び無線品質予測部205等を有する。端末20は、コンピュータの構成を備えており、例えば、通信部202、実績値DB(Database)203、ハンドオーバ予測部204、及び無線品質予測部205等は、当該コンピュータで実行されるプログラム等によって実現される。
 なお、端末20は、本実施形態に係る通信装置の一例であり、例えば、LTE、及び/又は5G等の移動体通信システムのユーザ端末(UE: User Equipment)を想定している。ただし、これに限られず、本実施形態に係る通信装置は、基地局10と無線通信を行う通信機能を有する様々な装置であってよい。例えば、本実施形態に係る通信装置は、端末20、又は端末20の機能を搭載した、車両、シニアカー、ロボット、又はドローン等の装置であってもよい。
 通信部202は、アンテナ201を介して、基地局10と無線通信を行う通信処理を実行する。例えば、通信部202は、基地局10からの電波を受信する受信処理を実行する。また、通信部202は、例えば、基地局10からの電波の受信結果、又は無線品質予測部205による予測結果等を、基地局10へ送信する送信処理を実行する。さらに、通信部202は、通信処理を制御する通信制御処理を実行する。
 実績値DB203は、通信部202でハンドオーバが発生したときに、当該ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と、無線品質の情報とを記憶するデータベースである。ここで、基地局の情報には、例えば、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10のPCI(Physical Cell ID)、又はCID(Cell-ID)等の識別情報が含まれる。或いは、基地局の情報には、ハンドオーバ元の基地局10の識別情報と、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10の識別情報とが含まれる。また、無線品質の情報には、例えば、スループット等の無線品質の変化量、又は無線品質の値等が含まれる。なお、実績値DB23は、本実施形態に係るデータベースの一例である。
 ハンドオーバ予測部204は、基地局10の無線パラメータ、及び/又は端末(通信装置)20の位置等に基づいて、端末20のハンドオーバ先の基地局10を予測するハンドオーバ予測処理を実行する。なお、ハンドオーバ予測部204の具体的な処理内容の例については後述する。
 無線品質予測部205は、端末(通信装置)20のハンドオーバが予測されるときに、実績値DB203に記憶した情報に基づいて、当該ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測し、出力する無線品質予測処理を実行する。例えば、無線品質予測部205は、端末20がハンドオーバ先の基地局にハンドオーバした場合の無線品質の変化量、無線品質の値、又は無線品質が劣化するか否か等を予測する。
 好ましくは、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した無線品質の情報の最悪値、平均値、又は分位数(パーセンタイル)等に基づいて、無線品質の変化を予測する。
 また、無線品質予測部205は、予測結果を所定の出力先へ出力する。例えば、無線品質予測部205は、予測結果を、通信部202を介して現在通信中の基地局10等へ送信(出力)する。
 なお、図2に示した端末(通信装置)20の機能構成は一例である。例えば、端末20は、通信部202でハンドオーバが発生したときに、当該ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と、無線品質の情報とを実績値DB203に記憶して、管理する情報管理部等を有していてもよい。また、端末20は、無線品質予測部205による予測結果を出力(送信)する出力部等を有していてもよい。
 <処理の流れ>
 続いて、本実施形態に係る無線品質予測方法の処理の流れについて説明する。
 図3は、本実施形態に係る無線品質の予測処理の例を示すフローチャートである。この処理は、例えば、図2で説明した各機能構成を有する端末(通信装置)20が実行する無線品質の予測処理の例を示している。
 ステップS301において、端末20の通信部202は、アンテナ201を介して、無線情報を受信する。
 ステップS302において、端末20は、受信した無線情報に基づいて、ハンドオーバの直後であるか否かを判断する。ハンドオーバの直後である場合、端末20は、処理をステップS303へ移行させる。一方、ハンドオーバの直後でない場合、端末20は、処理をステップS304へ移行させる。
 ステップS303に移行すると、端末20は、基地局10の情報と、無線品質の情報を、実績値DB203に記憶する。なお、実績値DB203に記憶する情報として、本実施形態では、次の2つの方法を想定している。
 第1の方法は、ハンドオーバが発生したときに、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10の情報(例えば、PCI、又はCID等)、無線品質の情報(例えば、無線品質の変化量、又は無線品質の値)を、実績値DB203に記憶する方法である。例えば、図4において、端末20が、基地局a~基地局dのいずれかから、基地局Xへハンドオーバした場合、端末20は、ハンドオーバ先の基地局Xの情報と、無線品質の情報とを、実績値DB203に記憶する。この方法は、無線品質の劣化が、特定の基地局に起因する場合、又は周辺環境に起因する場合等に適している。
 第2の方法は、ハンドオーバが発生したときに、ハンドオーバ元の基地局10の情報と、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10の情報と、無線品質の情報と、を実績値DB203に記憶する方法である。例えば、図4において、端末20が、基地局aから、基地局Xへハンドオーバした場合、端末20は、ハンドオーバ元の基地局aの情報と、ハンドオーバ先の基地局Xの情報と、無線品質の情報とを、実績値DB203に記憶する。この方法は、例えば、無線品質が良い基地局10から、無線品質が悪い基地局10へのハンドオーバで、無線品質が大幅に劣化する場合等に適している。
 好ましくは、第1の方法、第2の方法のいずれの場合も、端末20は、ハンドオーバが発生したときの無線パラメータ情報を、実績値DB203に記憶しておく。この無線パラメータ情報には、例えば、通信中の基地局10である通信中基地局のRSRP(Reference Signal Received Power)、及び通信中の基地局10に隣接する基地局10である隣接基地局のRSRP等が含まれる。
 ステップS304に移行すると、端末20のハンドオーバ予測部204は、端末20のハンドオーバ先(ハンドオーバ先の基地局10)を予測する。ハンドオーバ先の予測方法として、本実施形態では、次の3つの方法を想定している。
 第1の方法は、現在通信中の基地局10(以下、通信中基地局と呼ぶ)と、通信中基地局に隣接する基地局10(以下、隣接基地局と呼ぶ)の無線パラメータ(RSRP等)から、ハンドオーバ先を予測する方法である。例えば、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、通信中基地局からのRSRPより、隣接基地局からのRSRPが大きい場合、当該隣接基地局に端末20がハンドオーバすると予測する。例えば、図5に示すように、時刻t、t+1において、通信中基地局のRSRP、隣接基地局AのRSRP、及び隣接基地局BのRSRPが変化したものとする。この場合、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、端末20が、通信中基地局から隣接基地局Bへハンドオーバすると予測する。
 第2の方法は、端末20の過去のハンドオーバ位置からハンドオーバ先を予測する方法である。ここでは、端末20の位置と、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10との関係に再現性があることを想定している。第2の方法では、端末20は、ハンドオーバが発生したときに、基地局10の情報と、無線品質の情報に加えて、端末20の位置を示す位置情報を、実績値DB203に記憶しておく。例えば、図6に示すように、過去に基地局10aと通信中の端末20が、地点Aにおいて、基地局10bへハンドオーバしたものとする。この場合、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、基地局10aと通信中に、端末20の位置が地点Aに移動した場合に、端末20が基地局10aから基地局10bへハンドオーバすると予測する。
 第3の方法は、端末20の過去のハンドオーバ位置、通信中基地局と隣接基地局の無線パラメータの情報、及び端末20の位置情報等に基づいて、ハンドオーバ先を予測する方法である。ここでは、機械学習等によるハンドオーバ先の予測を想定している。例えば、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、現在の端末20の位置情報と、基地局10の無線パラメータから、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10を予測するように予め学習した機械学習モデルを用いて、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10を予測する。
 ステップS305において、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、ステップS04の処理で、ハンドオーバが予測されるか否かを判断する。ハンドオーバが予測される場合、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、処理をステップS306へ移行させる。一方、ハンドオーバが予測されない場合、ハンドオーバ予測部204は、図3の処理を終了する。
 ステップS306に移行すると、端末20の無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報に基づいて、ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測する。無線品質の変化の予測方法として、本実施形態では、次の3つの方法を想定している。
 第1の方法は、実績値DB203の最悪値から、無線品質の変化を予測する方法である。この方法は、安定した通信が必要なアプリケーション(以下、アプリと呼ぶ)の利用を想定している。
 例えば、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図7に示すような、スループット変化量のCDF(累積分布関数)割合を示すグラフ700を作成し、最小値(最悪値)を、ハンドオーバによるスループットの変化量の予測値とする。或いは、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図8に示すような、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの実績件数のグラフ800を作成し、最小値(最悪値)を、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの予測値とする。なお、スループットは、無線品質の一例である。また、無線品質予測部205が、グラフ700、又はグラフ800等のグラフを作成することは必須ではなく、グラフを用いずに最悪値を求めてもよい。
 第2の方法は、実績値DB203の平均値から、無線品質の変化を予測する方法である。この方法は、通常のアプリの利用を想定している。
 例えば、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図7に示すような、スループット変化量のCDF(累積分布関数)の割合を示すグラフ700を作成し、最小値に代えて平均値を、ハンドオーバによるスループットの変化量の予測値とする。或いは、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図8に示すような、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの実績件数のグラフ800を作成し、最小値に代えて平均値を、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの予測値とする。なお、無線品質予測部205が、グラフ700、又はグラフ800等のグラフを作成することは必須ではく、グラフを用いずに平均値を求めてもよい。
 第3の方法は、実績値DB203の分位数(パーセンタイル値)から、無線品質の変化を予測する方法である。この方法は、通常のアプリの利用を想定している。
 例えば、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図9に示すような、スループット変化量のCDF(累積分布関数)の割合を示すグラフ900を作成する。また、無線品質予測部205は、例えば、パーセンタイル値が20%の場合のスループット変化量を、ハンドオーバによるスループットの変化量の予測値とする。或いは、無線品質予測部205は、実績値DB203に記憶した情報から、図10に示すような、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの実績件数のグラフ1010を作成する。また、無線品質予測部205は、例えば、HO直後のスループットの20パーセンタイル値を、ハンドオーバ直後のスループットの予測値とする。なお、無線品質予測部205が、グラフ700、又はグラフ800等のグラフを作成することは必須でなく、グラフを用いずにパーセンタイル値等を求めてもよい。
 なお、第1~第3の無線品質の予測方法は、端末20が実行するアプリケーションが選択してもよいし、端末20を利用するユーザが設定してもよい。或いは、端末20は、第1~第3の無線品質の予測方法のうち、いずれか1つを実装しているもの等であってもよい。
 ここで、図3に戻り、フローチャートの説明を続ける。ステップS307において、無線品質予測部205は、予測結果を出力する。例えば、無線品質予測部205は、予測結果を通信部202に出力し、通信部202は、当該予測結果を基地局10へ送信する。
 図3の処理を繰り返し実行するにより、本実施形態によれば、基地局10と端末20が無線通信を行う無線通信システム1において、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測することができる。
 <ハードウェア構成>
 本実施形態に係る端末(通信装置)20、及び基地局10等は、いずれも、コンピュータでプログラムを実行することにより実現できる。
 すなわち、端末20、通信装置、及び基地局10等は、コンピュータに内蔵されるCPUやメモリ等のハードウェア資源を用いて、当該装置で実施される処理に対応するプログラムを実行することによって実現することが可能である。上記プログラムは、コンピュータが読み取り可能な記録媒体(可搬メモリ等)に記録して、保存したり、配布したりすることが可能である。また、上記プログラムをインターネットや電子メール等、ネットワークを通して提供することも可能である。
 図11は、コンピュータのハードウェア構成の例を示す図である。図11の例では、コンピュータ1100は、それぞれバスBSで相互に接続されているドライブ装置1000、補助記憶装置1002、メモリ装置1003、CPU1004、インタフェース装置1005、表示装置1006、入力装置1007、出力装置1008等を有する。
 コンピュータ1100で処理を実現するプログラムは、例えば、CD-ROM又はメモリカード等の記録媒体1001によって提供される。プログラムを記憶した記録媒体1001がドライブ装置1000にセットされると、プログラムが記録媒体1001からドライブ装置1000を介して補助記憶装置1002にインストールされる。ただし、プログラムのインストールは必ずしも記録媒体1001より行う必要はなく、ネットワークを介して他のコンピュータよりダウンロードするようにしてもよい。補助記憶装置1002は、インストールされたプログラムを格納すると共に、必要なファイルやデータ等を格納する。
 メモリ装置1003は、プログラムの起動指示があった場合に、補助記憶装置1002からプログラムを読み出して格納する。CPU1004は、メモリ装置1003に格納されたプログラムに従って、当該装置に係る機能を実現する。インタフェース装置1005は、ネットワーク等に接続するためのインタフェースとして用いられる。表示装置1006はプログラムによるGUI(Graphical User Interface)等を表示する。入力装置1007はキーボード及びマウス、ボタン、又はタッチパネル等で構成され、様々な操作指示を入力させるために用いられる。出力装置1008は演算結果を出力する。
 なお、CPU1004は、例えば、DSP(Digital Signal Processor)、PLD(Programmable Logic Device)、又はFPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)等のプロセッサであってもよい。
 (補足)
 本実施形態における端末(通信装置)20、及び基地局10等は、専用装置による実現に限らず、汎用コンピュータで実現するようにしてもよい。その場合、この機能を実現するためのプログラムをコンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体に記録して、この記録媒体に記録されたプログラムをコンピュータシステムに読み込ませ、実行することによって実現してもよい。なお、ここでいう「コンピュータシステム」とは、OSや周辺機器等のハードウェアを含むものとする。
 また、「コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体」とは、フレキシブルディスク、光磁気ディスク、ROM、CD-ROM等の可搬媒体、コンピュータシステムに内蔵されるストレージデバイス等の様々な記憶装置を含む。さらに「コンピュータ読み取り可能な記録媒体」とは、インターネット等のネットワークや電話回線等の通信回線を介してプログラムを送信する場合の通信線のように、短時間の間、動的にプログラムを保持するもの、その場合のサーバやクライアントとなるコンピュータシステム内部の揮発性メモリのように、一定時間プログラムを保持しているものも含んでもよい。
 また上記プログラムは、前述した機能の一部を実現するためのものであってもよく、さらに前述した機能をコンピュータシステムにすでに記録されているプログラムとの組み合わせで実現できるものであってもよく、PLD、又はFPGA等のハードウェアを用いて実現されるものであってもよい。
 <実施形態の効果>
 本実施形態によれば、基地局と端末が無線通信を行う無線通信システムにおいて、ハンドオーバに起因する無線品質の劣化を予測できるようになる。
 また、無線品質が劣化するハンドオーバと劣化しないハンドオーバを、ハンドオーバ先の基地局10を基に予想することが可能となり、無線品質の予測精度が向上する。
 <実施形態のまとめ>
 本明細書には、少なくとも下記各項の通信装置、予測方法、及びプログラム等が開示されている。
(第1項)
 基地局と無線通信を行う通信装置であって、
 ハンドオーバが発生したときに、前記ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と無線品質の情報とを記憶するデータベースと、
 ハンドオーバが予測されるときに、前記データベースに記憶した情報に基づいて、当該ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測し、出力する無線品質予測部と、
 を有する、通信装置。
(第2項)
 基地局の無線パラメータ、及び/又は前記通信装置の位置に基づいて、ハンドオーバ先の基地局を予測するハンドオーバ予測部を有し、
 前記無線品質予測部は、前記通信装置が前記ハンドオーバ先の基地局にハンドオーバした場合の前記無線品質の変化量、前記無線品質の値、又は前記無線品質が劣化するか否かを予測する、
 第1項に記載の通信装置。
(第3項)
 前記無線品質予測部は、前記データベースに記憶した前記無線品質の情報の最悪値、平均値、又は分位数に基づいて、前記無線品質の変化を予測する、第1項又は第2項に記載の通信装置。
(第4項)
 前記基地局の情報は、
 前記ハンドオーバが発生したときのハンドオーバ先の基地局の識別情報、又は
 前記ハンドオーバが発生したときのハンドオーバ元の基地局の識別情報とハンドオーバ先の基地局の識別情報、
 を含み、
 前記無線品質の情報は、前記無線品質の変化量、又は前記無線品質の値を含む、
 第1項~第4項のいずれかに記載の通信装置。
(第5項)
 基地局と無線通信を行う通信装置が、
 ハンドオーバが発生したときに、前記ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と無線品質の情報とをデータベースに記憶し、
 ハンドオーバが予測されるときに、前記データベースに記憶した情報に基づいて、当該ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測し、
 予測結果を出力する、
 予測方法。
(第6項)
 第5項に記載の予測方法をコンピュータに実行させる、プログラム。
 以上、本実施形態について説明したが、本発明はかかる特定の実施形態に限定されるものではなく、特許請求の範囲に記載された本発明の要旨の範囲内において、種々の変形・変更が可能である。

Claims (4)

  1.  基地局と無線通信を行う通信装置であって、
     ハンドオーバが発生したときに、前記ハンドオーバにおける基地局の情報と無線品質の情報とを記憶するデータベースと、
     ハンドオーバが予測されるときに、前記データベースに記憶した情報に基づいて、当該ハンドオーバによる無線品質の変化を予測し、出力する無線品質予測部と、
     を有する、通信装置。
  2.  基地局の無線パラメータ、及び/又は前記通信装置の位置に基づいて、ハンドオーバ先の基地局を予測するハンドオーバ予測部を有し、
     前記無線品質予測部は、前記通信装置が前記ハンドオーバ先の基地局にハンドオーバした場合の前記無線品質の変化量、前記無線品質の値、又は前記無線品質が劣化するか否かを予測する、
     請求項1に記載の通信装置。
  3.  前記無線品質予測部は、前記データベースに記憶した前記無線品質の情報の最悪値、平均値、又は分位数に基づいて、前記無線品質の変化を予測する、請求項1に記載の通信装置。
  4.  前記基地局の情報は、
     前記ハンドオーバが発生したときのハンドオーバ先の基地局の識別情報、又は
     前記ハンドオーバが発生したときのハンドオーバ元の基地局の識別情報とハンドオーバ先の基地局の識別情報、
     を含み、
     前記無線品質の情報は、前記無線品質の変化量、又は前記無線品質の値を含む、
     請求項1に記載の通信装置。
