光ファイバ、光ファイバリボン、および光ファイバケーブル
 本開示は、光ファイバ、光ファイバリボン、および光ファイバケーブルに関する。
 本出願は、2024年5月29日出願の日本出願第2024-087493号に基づく優先権を主張し、前記日本出願に記載されたすべての記載内容を援用するものである。
 一般に、光ファイバは、光伝送体であるガラスファイバを保護するための被覆樹脂層を備えている。被覆樹脂層は、例えば、ガラスファイバと接するプライマリ樹脂層と、プライマリ樹脂層の外側に形成されるセカンダリ樹脂層とを有している。プライマリ樹脂層およびセカンダリ樹脂層は、それぞれ光重合性化合物および光重合開始剤を含有する紫外線硬化性の樹脂組成物から形成される。
 光ファイバを接続する場合、ガラスファイバから被覆樹脂層の一部を除去する必要がある。特許文献1には、プライマリ樹脂層に対するミネラルオイルの接着角およびセカンダリ樹脂層の弾性率に着目して、被覆樹脂層の除去性を調整することが開示されている。

 ミネラルオイル等のオイルに光ファイバを浸漬すると、被覆樹脂層がオイルを吸収し、ガラスファイバに対する被覆樹脂層の密着力が低下することがある。光ファイバには、水だけでなく、オイルに浸漬しても一定の密着力を有する被覆樹脂層を備えることが求められている。一方、光ファイバが蛍光灯等の光に暴露されると、被覆樹脂層の硬化反応が経時的に進行して、ガラスファイバに対する被覆樹脂層の密着力が高くなりすぎることがある。被覆樹脂層のガラスファイバに対する密着性が高すぎると被覆除去性が低減し、ガラスファイバから被覆樹脂層を除去するときに、ガラスファイバの外周に被覆樹脂層の一部が残ってしまうことがある。
 本開示は、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化を低減した被覆樹脂層を備える光ファイバ、光ファイバリボン、および光ファイバケーブルを提供することを目的とする。
 (1)本開示の一態様に係る光ファイバは、コアおよびクラッドを含むガラスファイバと、ガラスファイバを被覆する被覆樹脂層とを備え、被覆樹脂層が、光重合性化合物およびホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤を含有する樹脂組成物の硬化物と、トリメチル安息香酸と、を含み、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤の含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であり、トリメチル安息香酸の含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.2質量%以下である。
 光ファイバの生産プロセスにおいて、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤は分解して光重合性化合物の重合に関与する一方で、一部は分解せずに光ファイバ中に残存することがある。分解したホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤は、光ファイバが蛍光灯等の光に暴露された場合、反応雰囲気中に存在する水等の酸素原子または水素原子を含有する分子と反応して、トリメチル安息香酸を形成することがある。トリメチル安息香酸が形成されると、トリメチル安息香酸はプライマリ樹脂層に含まれるシランカップリング剤とガラスファイバとの反応を促進するので、ガラスファイバから被覆樹脂層を除去し難くなることがある。一方、光ファイバ中のトリメチル安息香酸が少ない場合、シランカップリング剤とガラスファイバとの反応が十分に進まず、ガラスファイバと被覆樹脂層との間に適切な密着力が生じ難くなることがある。
 本実施形態に係る光ファイバは、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤の含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であり、トリメチル安息香酸の含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.2質量%以下であるので、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化を低減することができる。
 (2)上記(1)において、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、上記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステル、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシド、およびトリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含んでもよい。
 (3)上記(2)において、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、上記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドであってもよく、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、上記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.1質量%以下であってもよい。
 (4)上記(2)において、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、上記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルであってもよく、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 (5)上記(2)において、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、上記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドであってもよく、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 (6)上記(2)において、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、上記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルであってもよく、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 (7)本開示の一態様に係る光ファイバリボンは、並列に配置された複数の上記(1)から(6)のいずれかに記載の光ファイバと、複数の上記光ファイバを被覆して連結する連結樹脂層と、を備える。このような光ファイバリボンは、耐マイクロベンド特性および低温特性に優れている。
 (8)本開示の一態様に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記(7)に記載の光ファイバリボンが、ケーブル内に収納されている。このような光ファイバリボンケーブルは、耐マイクロベンド特性および低温特性に優れている。
 (9)本開示の一態様に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記(1)から(6)のいずれかに記載の光ファイバが、ケーブル内に複数収納されている。このような光ファイバリボンケーブルは、耐マイクロベンド特性および低温特性に優れている。
 本開示によれば、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化を低減した被覆樹脂層を備える光ファイバ、光ファイバリボン、および光ファイバケーブルを提供することができる。

[本開示の実施形態の詳細]
 本開示の実施形態に係る光ファイバ、光ファイバリボン、および光ファイバケーブルの具体例を、必要により図面を参照しつつ説明する。本開示はこれらの例示に限定されず、請求の範囲によって示され、請求の範囲と均等の意味および範囲内でのすべての変更が含まれることが意図される。以下の説明では、図面の説明において同一の要素には同一の符号を付し、重複する説明を省略する。本実施形態において、(メタ)アクリレートは、アクリレートまたはそれに対応するメタクリレートを意味し、(メタ)アクリル酸等の他の類似表現についても同様である。
(光ファイバ)
 図1は、一実施形態に係る光ファイバの一例を示す概略断面図である。光ファイバ10は、光伝送体であるガラスファイバ13と、ガラスファイバ13に接してガラスファイバ13を被覆する被覆樹脂層16とを備えている。
 ガラスファイバ13は、コア11と、コア11を覆うクラッド12とを備えている。ガラスファイバ13は、ガラス製の部材であって、例えば、シリカ(SiO)ガラスを含む。ガラスファイバ13は、光ファイバ10に導入された光を伝送する。コア11は、例えば、ガラスファイバ13の中心軸線を含む領域に設けられている。コア11は、例えば、純SiOガラス、GeOが添加されたシリカガラス、またはフッ素元素が添加されたシリカガラスを含む。クラッド12は、コア11を囲む領域に設けられている。クラッド12は、コア11の屈折率より低い屈折率を有している。クラッド12は、例えば、純SiOガラス、またはフッ素元素が添加されたSiOガラスを含む。
 被覆樹脂層16は、クラッド12を覆う樹脂層であり、紫外線硬化性の樹脂組成物を用いて形成される。被覆樹脂層16は、ガラスファイバ13の外周を被覆するプライマリ樹脂層14と、プライマリ樹脂層14の外周を被覆するセカンダリ樹脂層15と、を有する。プライマリ樹脂層14は、クラッド12の外周面に接しており、クラッド12の全体を被覆している。セカンダリ樹脂層15は、プライマリ樹脂層14の外周面に接しており、プライマリ樹脂層14の全体を被覆している。プライマリ樹脂層14の厚さは、例えば、10μm以上50μm以下である。セカンダリ樹脂層15の厚さは、例えば、10μm以上40μm以下である。被覆樹脂層16は、セカンダリ樹脂層15の外周を被覆する着色樹脂層を更に備えていてもよい。
 被覆樹脂層16は、光重合性化合物およびホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤を含有する樹脂組成物の硬化物と、トリメチル安息香酸と、を含み、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤の含有量は、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であり、トリメチル安息香酸の含有量は、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.2質量%以下である。これにより、密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化を低減した光ファイバを得ることができる。
 光ファイバにおけるホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤およびトリメチル安息香酸の含有量は、被覆樹脂層を形成するために用いる樹脂組成物に配合するホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤の量、光ファイバを作製する際の製造速度、光ファイバ作製後に紫外線を追加照射するまでの時間を変更すること等により調整することができる。
 ホスフィンオキシド系光重合性開始剤としては、例えば、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド(Omnirad TPO-N、IGM Resins B.V.製)、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステル(Omnirad TPO-L、IGM Resins B.V.製)、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシド(Omnirad 819、IGM Resins B.V.製)、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステル(Omnipol TP、IGM Resins B.V.製、)、およびビス(2,6-ジメトキシベンゾイル)-2,4,4-トリメチルペンチルホスフィンオキサイドが挙げられる。
 Omnipol TPは、下記式(1)で表される構造を有している。式(1)において、a、bおよびcはそれぞれ独立に0以上の整数であり、a+b+cは3以上である。
 密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤は、例えば、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステル、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシド、およびトリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含んでもよい。
 密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドであってもよく、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.1質量%以下、0.001質量%以上0.09質量%以下、または0.001質量%以上0.08質量%以下であってもよい。
 密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルであってもよく、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドであってもよく、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 密着性および被覆除去性の経時変化をより低減する観点から、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルであってもよく、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルの含有量が、光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であってもよい。
 本実施形態に係る樹脂組成物は、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤とは異なる他の光重合開始剤を更に含有してもよい。他の光重合開始剤としては、例えば、1-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシルフェニルケトン、2,2-ジメトキシ-2-フェニルアセトフェノン、1-(4-イソプロピルフェニル)-2-ヒドロキシ-2-メチルプロパン-1-オン、および2-メチル-1-[4-(メチルチオ)フェニル]-2-モルホリノ-プロパン-1-オンが挙げられる。
 光重合性化合物は、被覆樹脂層のヤング率を調整する観点から、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートを含んでもよい。ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、ポリオール化合物と、ポリイソシアネート化合物と、水酸基含有(メタ)アクリレート化合物との反応物を用いることができる。ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートは、1種を単独でまたは2種以上混合して用いてもよい。
 ポリオール化合物としては、例えば、ポリテトラメチレングリコール、ポリプロピレングリコール、およびビスフェノールA・エチレンオキサイド付加ジオールが挙げられる。ポリイソシアネート化合物としては、例えば、2,4-トリレンジイソシアネート、2,6-トリレンジイソシアネート、イソホロンジイソシアネート、およびジシクロヘキシルメタン4,4’-ジイソシアナートが挙げられる。水酸基含有(メタ)アクリレート化合物としては、例えば、2-ヒドロキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシブチル(メタ)アクリレート、1,6-ヘキサンジオールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、ペンタエリスリトールトリ(メタ)アクリレート、2-ヒドロキシプロピル(メタ)アクリレート、およびトリプロピレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレートが挙げられる。
 プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率を調整する観点から、ポリオール化合物の数平均分子量(Mn)は、1000以上10000以下、1500以上9000以下、または2000以上8000以下であってもよい。セカンダリ樹脂層のヤング率を調整する観点から、ポリオール化合物のMnは、300以上3000以下、400以上2500以下、または500以上2000以下であってもよい。
 ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートを合成する際の触媒として、ジブチルスズジラウレート、ジブチルスズジアセテート、ジブチルスズマレート、ジブチルスズビス(メルカプト酢酸2-エチルヘキシル)、ジブチルスズビス(メルカプト酢酸イソオクチル)、ナフテン酸銅、ナフテン酸コバルト、ナフテン酸亜鉛、トリエチルアミン、1,4-ジアザビシクロ〔2.2.2〕オクタン、2,6,7-トリメチル-1,4-ジアザビシクロ〔2.2.2〕オクタン、オクチル酸ビスマス、2-エチルヘキサン酸ビスマス、ネオデカン酸ビスマス、酢酸ビスマス、ジルコニウムテトラアセチルアセトネート、ノルマルプロピルジルコネート、ノルマルブチルジルコネート、ジルコニウムモノアセチルアセトネートを使用してもよい。易入手性または触媒性能の点から、触媒としてジブチルスズジラウレートまたはジブチルスズジアセテートを使用してもよい。
 ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートを合成する際に炭素数5以下の低級アルコールを使用してもよい。低級アルコールとしては、例えば、メタノール、エタノール、1-プロパノール、2-プロパノール、1-ブタノール、2-ブタノール、2-メチル-2-プロパノール、1-ペンタノール、2-ペンタノール、3-ペンタノール、2-メチル-1-ブタノール、3-メチル-1-ブタノール、2-メチル-2-ブタノール、3-メチル-2-ブタノール、および2,2-ジメチル-1-プロパノールが挙げられる。
 光重合性化合物は、被覆樹脂層に適度な靱性を付与する観点から、エポキシ(メタ)アクリレートを含んでもよい。エポキシ(メタ)アクリレートとしては、ビスフェノール骨格を有するジグリシジルエーテル化合物と、(メタ)アクリル酸等の(メタ)アクリロイル基を有する化合物との反応物を用いることができる。エポキシ(メタ)アクリレートは、1種を単独でまたは2種以上混合して用いてもよい。
 エポキシ(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、ビスフェノールAジグリシジルエーテルの(メタ)アクリル酸付加物、ビスフェノールAFジグリシジルエーテルの(メタ)アクリル酸付加物、およびビスフェノールFジグリシジルエーテルの(メタ)アクリル酸付加物が挙げられる。
 光重合性化合物は、セカンダリ樹脂層のヤング率を調整する観点から、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートおよびエポキシ(メタ)アクリレートの少なくとも一方を含んでもよい。
 光重合性化合物は、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートおよびエポキシ(メタ)アクリレート以外の光重合性化合物(以下、「モノマー」という。)を更に含むことができる。
 モノマーとしては、例えば、重合性基を1つ有する単官能モノマーおよび重合性基を2つ以上有する多官能モノマーが挙げられる。モノマーは、1種を単独でまたは2種以上を混合して用いてもよい。
 単官能モノマーとしては、例えば、メチル(メタ)アクリレート、エチル(メタ)アクリレート、プロピル(メタ)アクリレート、n-ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、s-ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、tert-ブチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソブチル(メタ)アクリレート、n-ペンチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソペンチル(メタ)アクリレート、へキシル(メタ)アクリレート、ヘプチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソアミル(メタ)アクリレート、2-エチルヘキシル(メタ)アクリレート、n-オクチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソオクチル(メタ)アクリレート、イソデシル(メタ)アクリレート、ラウリル(メタ)アクリレート、2-フェノキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、3-フェノキシベンジルアクリレート、フェノキシジエチレングリコールアクリレート、フェノキシポリエチレングリコールアクリレート、4-tert-ブチルシクロヘキサノールアクリレート、テトラヒドロフルフリル(メタ)アクリレート、ベンジル(メタ)アクリレート、ジシクロペンテニル(メタ)アクリレート、ジシクロペンテニルオキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、ジシクロペンタニル(メタ)アクリレート、ノニルフェノールポリエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、ノニルフェノキシポリエチレングリコール(メタ)アクリレート、イソボルニル(メタ)アクリレート等の(メタ)アクリレート系モノマー;(メタ)アクリル酸、(メタ)アクリル酸ダイマー、カルボキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート、カルボキシペンチル(メタ)アクリレート、ω-カルボキシ-ポリカプロラクトン(メタ)アクリレート等のカルボキシ基含有モノマー;N-(メタ)アクリロイルモルホリン、N-ビニルピロリドン、N-ビニルカプロラクタム、N-(メタ)アクリロイルピペリジン、N-(メタ)アクリロイルピロリジン、3-(3-ピリジン)プロピル(メタ)アクリレート、環状トリメチロールプロパンホルマールアクリレート等の複素環含有モノマー;マレイミド、N-シクロへキシルマレイミド、N-フェニルマレイミド等のマレイミド系モノマー;(メタ)アクリルアミド、N,N-ジメチル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N,N-ジエチル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-ヘキシル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-メチル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-エチル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-ブチル(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-メチロール(メタ)アクリルアミド、N-メチロールプロパン(メタ)アクリルアミド等のアミド系モノマー;(メタ)アクリル酸アミノエチル、(メタ)アクリル酸アミノプロピル、(メタ)アクリル酸N,N-ジメチルアミノエチル、(メタ)アクリル酸tert-ブチルアミノエチル等の(メタ)アクリル酸アミノアルキル系モノマー;N-(メタ)アクリロイルオキシメチレンスクシンイミド、N-(メタ)アクリロイル-6-オキシヘキサメチレンスクシンイミド、N-(メタ)アクリロイル-8-オキシオクタメチレンスクシンイミド等のスクシンイミド系モノマーが挙げられる。

 光重合性化合物は、プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率を調整する観点から、アルキレンオキサイド変性された多官能モノマーを含んでもよい。アルキレンオキサイド変性された多官能モノマーは、エチレンオキサイド(EO)鎖およびプロピレンオキサイド(PO)鎖からなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1種を有してもよい。エチレンオキサイド鎖を「(EO)n」、プロピレンオキサイド鎖を「(PO)n」と表すことができる。nは1以上の整数であり、2以上または3以上であってもよく、30以下、25以下、または20以下であってもよい。アルキレンオキサイド変性された多官能モノマーとしては、例えば、アルキレンオキサイド変性ジ(メタ)アクリレート、およびアルキレンオキサイド変性トリ(メタ)アクリレートが挙げられる。
 アルキレンオキサイド変性ジ(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、ポリエチレングリコールジ(メタ)アクリレート、イソシアヌル酸エチレンオキサイド変性ジ(メタ)アクリレート、エチレンオキサイド変性ビスフェノールFジ(メタ)アクリレート、エチレンオキサイド変性ビスフェノールAジ(メタ)アクリレート、ポリプロピレングリコールジ(メタ)アクリレート、プロピレンオキサイド変性ビスフェノールAジ(メタ)アクリレート、およびプロピレンオキサイド変性ネオペンチルグリコールジ(メタ)アクリレートが挙げられる。
 アルキレンオキサイド変性トリ(メタ)アクリレートとしては、例えば、トリメチロールプロパントリ(メタ)アクリレート、トリメチロールオクタントリ(メタ)アクリレート、トリメチロールプロパンポリエトキシトリ(メタ)アクリレート、トリメチロールプロパンポリプロポキシトリ(メタ)アクリレート、トリメチロールプロパンポリエトキシポリプロポキシトリ(メタ)アクリレート、トリス[(メタ)アクリロイルオキシエチル]イソシアヌレート、およびペンタエリスリトールトリ(メタ)アクリレートが挙げられる。
 本実施形態に係る樹脂組成物は、プライマリ樹脂層に好適に適用する観点から、シランカップリング剤をさらに含有してもよい。
 シランカップリング剤は、樹脂組成物の硬化の妨げにならなければ、特に限定されない。シランカップリング剤としては、例えば、テトラメチルシリケート、テトラエチルシリケート、メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシラン、ビニルトリクロロシラン、ビニルトリエトキシシラン、ビニルトリス(β-メトキシ-エトキシ)シラン、β-(3,4-エポキシシクロヘキシル)-エチルトリメトキシシラン、ジメトキシジメチルシラン、ジエトキシジメチルシラン、3-アクリロキシプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-グリシドキシプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-グリシドキシプロピルメチルジエトキシシラン、γ-メタクリロキシプロピルトリメトキシシラン、N-(β-アミノエチル)-γ-アミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン、N-(β-アミノエチル)-γ-アミノプロピルトリメチルジメトキシシラン、N-フェニル-γ-アミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-クロロプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシラン、γ-アミノプロピルトリメトキシシラン、ビス-[3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピル]テトラスルフィド、ビス-[3-(トリエトキシシリル)プロピル]ジスルフィド、γ-トリメトキシシリルプロピルジメチルチオカルバモイルテトラスルフィド、およびγ-トリメトキシシリルプロピルベンゾチアジルテトラスルフィドが挙げられる。
 本実施形態に係る樹脂組成物は、レベリング剤、消泡剤、酸化防止剤、増感剤等を更に含有してもよい。
 本実施形態に係る樹脂組成物の25℃での粘度は、保存安定性の観点から、1000mPa・s以上、1500mPa・s以上、または2000mPa・s以上であってもよく、塗布性の観点から、10000mPa・s未満、8000mPa・s以下、または6000mPa・s以下であってもよい。
 プライマリ樹脂層14は、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートを含む光重合性化合物、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤、およびシランカップリング剤を含有する樹脂組成物を硬化させて形成することができる。
 プライマリ樹脂層14のヤング率は、光ファイバの耐マイクロベンド特性を向上する観点から、23℃±2℃で0.80MPa以下、0.70MPa以下、0.60MPa以下、または0.55MPa以下であってもよい。プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率が0.80MPa以下であると、外力がガラスファイバに伝わり難くなり、マイクロベンドによる伝送損失増を抑制し易くなる傾向がある。プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率は、光ファイバの低温特性をより向上する観点から、23℃±2℃で0.10MPa以上、0.15MPa以上、0.20MPa以上、または0.35MPa以上であってもよい。
 プライマリ樹脂層14のヤング率は、23℃でのPullout Modulus(POM)法により測定できる。光ファイバの2箇所を2つのチャック装置で固定し、2つのチャック装置の間の被覆樹脂層(プライマリ樹脂層およびセカンダリ樹脂層)部分を除去し、次いで、一方のチャック装置を固定し、他方のチャック装置を固定したチャック装置の反対方向に緩やかに移動させる。光ファイバにおける移動させるチャック装置に挟まれている部分の長さをL、チャックの移動量をZ、プライマリ樹脂層の外径をDp、ガラスファイバの外径をDf、プライマリ樹脂層のポアソン比をn、チャック装置の移動時の荷重をWとした場合、下記式からプライマリ樹脂層のヤング率を求めることができる。
 ヤング率(MPa)=((1+n)W/πLZ)×ln(Dp/Df)
 セカンダリ樹脂層15は、ウレタン(メタ)アクリレートおよびエポキシ(メタ)アクリレートの少なくとも一方を含む光重合性化合物と、ホスフィンオキサイド系光重合開始剤とを含有する樹脂組成物を硬化させて形成することができる。
 光ファイバの耐マイクロベンド特性を向上する観点から、セカンダリ樹脂層15のヤング率は、23℃±2℃で750MPa以上、800MPa以上、900MPa以上、または1000MPa以上であってもよい。セカンダリ樹脂層のヤング率の上限値は特に制限されないが、セカンダリ樹脂層に適度の靱性を付与する観点から、23℃±2℃で2000MPa以下、1800MPa以下、または1500MPa以下であってもよい。
 セカンダリ樹脂層15のヤング率は、例えば、以下の方法で測定することができる。まず、光ファイバをアセトンとエタノールとの混合溶剤に浸漬し、被覆樹脂層のみを筒状に抜き出す。この際、プライマリ樹脂層とセカンダリ樹脂層は一体となっているが、プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率はセカンダリ樹脂層の1/10000以上1/1000以下のヤング率であるため、プライマリ樹脂層のヤング率は無視することができる。次に、被覆樹脂層から真空乾燥により溶剤を除いた後、23℃で引張試験(引張速度は1mm/分)を行い、2.5%歪の割線式によりヤング率を求めることができる。
 上記光ファイバの製造方法は、コアおよびクラッドを含むガラスファイバの外周に、被覆樹脂層の形成に用いられる樹脂組成物を塗布する塗布工程と、塗布工程の後に紫外線を照射することにより樹脂組成物を硬化させる硬化工程と、を含んでもよい。
(光ファイバリボン)
 本実施形態に係る光ファイバを用いて光ファイバリボンを作製することができる。本実施形態に係る光ファイバリボンは、上記光ファイバと、複数の上記光ファイバを被覆して連結する連結樹脂層とを備える。本実施形態に係る光ファイバリボンは、上記光ファイバを用いることで、耐マイクロベンド特性および低温特性に優れている。
 図2は一実施形態に係る光ファイバリボンを示す概略断面図である。光ファイバリボン100は、複数の光ファイバ10と、光ファイバ10がリボン用樹脂により(一体的に)被覆されて連結された連結樹脂層40とを備えている。図2では、一例として4本の光ファイバ10が示されているが、その本数は特に限定されるものではない。
 光ファイバ10は接して並列された状態で一体化されていてもよく、一部または全部の光ファイバ10が一定間隔をあけて並列された状態で一体化されていてもよい。隣り合う光ファイバ10同士の中心間距離Fは、220μm以上280μm以下であってもよい。中心間距離を220μm以上280μm以下とした場合は、既存のV溝に光ファイバを載せ易く、一括融着性に優れる光ファイバリボンを得ることができる。光ファイバリボン100の厚さTは、光ファイバ10の外径にもよるが、164μm以上285μm以下であってもよい。
 図3は、光ファイバが一定間隔をあけて並列された状態で一体化された光ファイバリボンの一例を示す概略断面図である。図3に示す光ファイバリボン100Aは、2本の光ファイバ10がリボン用樹脂により一定の間隔をあけて12本連結されている。リボン用樹脂は、連結樹脂層40を形成している。
 リボン用樹脂としては、一般にリボン材として知られている樹脂材料を用いることができる。リボン用樹脂は、光ファイバ10の損傷防止性、分断容易性等の観点から、シリコーン樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、ウレタン樹脂等の熱硬化型樹脂、または、エポキシアクリレート、ウレタンアクリレート、ポリエステルアクリレート等の紫外線硬化型樹脂を含有してもよい。
 光ファイバ10が一定間隔をあけて並列されている場合、すなわち隣り合う光ファイバ10が接することなくリボン用樹脂を介して接合されている場合、光ファイバ10同士の中央における連結部の厚さは、150μm以上220μm以下であってもよい。光ファイバリボンをケーブルに収納する際に変形し易いことから、光ファイバリボンは、光ファイバの連結部に凹みを有していてもよい。凹みは、連結部の一方側の面に角度が狭くなる三角形状に形成されていてもよい。
 本実施形態に係る光ファイバリボンは、長手方向および幅方向に間欠的に連結部と非連結部とを有してもよい。図4は、一実施形態に係る光ファイバリボンの外観を示す平面図である。光ファイバリボン100Bは、複数本の光ファイバと、複数の連結部20と、非連結部(分断部)21とを有している。非連結部21は、光ファイバリボンの長手方向に間欠的に形成されている。光ファイバリボン100Bは、2本の光ファイバ10A毎に、連結部20と非連結部21とが長手方向に間欠的に設けられた間欠連結型の光ファイバリボンである。「連結部」とは、隣り合う光ファイバが連結樹脂層を介して一体化している部分をいい、「非連結部」とは、隣り合う光ファイバが連結樹脂層を介して一体化しておらず、光ファイバ間にギャップがある部分をいう。
 上記構成を有する光ファイバリボンには、2心毎に設けられた連結部20に非連結部21が間欠的に設けられているので、光ファイバリボンを変形し易い。よって、光ファイバリボンを光ファイバケーブルに実装する際に、容易に丸めて実装できるので、高密度実装に適した光ファイバリボンとすることができる。また、非連結部21を起点として連結部20を容易に裂くことができるので、光ファイバリボンにおける光ファイバ10の単心分離が容易になる。
(光ファイバケーブル)
 本実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記光ファイバリボンがケーブル内に収納されている。本開示の一実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記光ファイバリボンがケーブル内に収容されている。本実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記複数の光ファイバをリボン用樹脂で被覆せずにケーブル内に収納した態様であってもよく、本開示の他の一実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記光ファイバが、ケーブル内に複数収容されている。本実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルは、上記光ファイバまたは上記光ファイバリボンを用いることで、耐マイクロベンド特性および低温特性に優れている。
 光ファイバケーブルとしては、例えば、複数のスロット(溝)を有するスロット型の光ファイバケーブルが挙げられる。スロット内には、上記光ファイバリボンを、各スロットにおける実装密度が25%から65%程度となるように実装することができる。実装密度とは、スロットの断面積に対するスロット内に実装される光ファイバリボンの断面積の割合を意味する。
 本実施形態に係る光ファイバケーブルの一例について、図5および6を参照しつつ説明する。図5および6では、間欠連結型の光ファイバリボンを収納しているが、リボン用樹脂で被覆されていない光ファイバを複数本束ねた状態で収納してもよい。
 図5は、上述した間欠連結型の光ファイバリボン100Bを使用するスロットレス型の光ファイバケーブル60の概略断面図である。光ファイバケーブル60は、円筒型のチューブ61と、複数の光ファイバリボン100Bとを有する。複数の光ファイバリボン100Bは、アラミド繊維等の介在62で束ねられていてもよい。また、複数の光ファイバリボン100Bは、それぞれ異なるマーキングを有していてもよい。光ファイバケーブル60は、束ねられた複数の光ファイバリボン100Bを撚り合わせ、その周囲にチューブ61となる樹脂を押し出し成形し、テンションメンバ63と共に外被64を被せて形成された構造となっている。防水性が要求される場合は、吸水ヤーンをチューブ61の内側に挿入してもよい。チューブ61は、例えば、ポリブチレンテレフタレート、高密度ポリエチレン等の樹脂を用いて形成することができる。チューブ61の外側には、引き裂き紐65を設けてもよい。
 図6は、上述した間欠連結型の光ファイバリボン100Bを使用するスロット型の光ファイバケーブル70の概略断面図である。光ファイバケーブル70は、複数のスロット71を有するスロットロッド72と、複数の光ファイバリボン100Bとを有する。光ファイバケーブル70は、中央にテンションメンバ73を有するスロットロッド72に、放射状に複数のスロット71が設けられた構造となっている。複数のスロット71は、光ファイバケーブル70の長手方向に螺旋状またはSZ状に撚られた形状で設けられていてもよい。各スロット71には、並列状態からばらされて密集状態にされた光ファイバリボン100Bがそれぞれ複数収納されている。各光ファイバリボン100Bは、識別用のバンドル材で束ねられていてもよい。スロットロッド72の周囲には押さえ巻きテープ74が巻かれ、押さえ巻きテープ74の周囲には外被75が形成されている。
 以下、本開示に係る実施例および比較例を用いた評価試験の結果を示し、本開示を更に詳細に説明する。なお、本開示はこれら実施例に限定されない。
[プライマリ樹脂層用の樹脂組成物]
(光重合性化合物)
 光重合性化合物として、分子量4000のポリプロピレングリコールと、イソホロンジイソシアネートと、ヒドロキシエチルアクリレートとを反応させて得られるウレタンアクリレートa、ノニルフェノールEO変性アクリレート(EO-NPA、東亞合成株式会社製、商品名「アロニックスM-113」)、N-ビニルカプロラクタム、およびネオペンチルグリコールジアクレートを準備した。
(光重合開始剤)
 ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤として、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド(IGM Resins B.V.製、商品名「Omnirad TPO-N」)、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシド(IGM Resins B.V.製、商品名「Omnirad 819」)、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステル(IGM Resins B.V.製、商品名「Omnirad TPO-L」)、およびトリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステル(IGM Resins B.V.製、商品名「Omnipol TP」)を準備した。
(シランカップリング剤)
 シランカップリング剤として、3-メルカプトプロピルトリメトキシシラン(MPTS)を準備した。
 表1に示す配合量(質量部)で、光重合性化合物、光重合開始剤、およびシランカップリング剤を混合して、プライマリ樹脂層用の樹脂組成物を作製した。
[セカンダリ樹脂層用の樹脂組成物]
(光重合性化合物)
 光重合性化合物として、分子量1000のポリプロピレングリコールと、イソホロンジイソシアネートと、2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレートとを反応させて得られるウレタンアクリレートb、分子量600のポリプロピレングリコールと、イソホロンジイソシアネートと、2-ヒドロキシエチルアクリレートとを反応させて得られるウレタンアクリレートc、エポキシアクリレート(ビスフェノールAジグリシジルエーテルのアクリル酸付加物、大阪有機化学工業株式会社製、商品名「ビスコート#540」)、イソボルニルアクリレート、トリメチロールプロパンポリエトキシトリアクリレート(Miwon Specialty Chemical Co., Ltd.製、商品名「Miramer M3150」)、およびトリメチロールプロパントリアクリレートを準備した。
(光重合開始剤)
 アルキルフェノン系光重合開始剤として、1-ヒドロキシシクロヘキシルフェニルケトン(IGM Resins B.V.製、商品名「Omnirad 184」)を準備し、ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤として、Omnirad TPO-N、Omnirad TPO-L、Omnirad 819、およびOmnipol TPを準備した。
 表2に示す配合量(質量部)で、光重合性化合物および光重合開始剤を混合して、セカンダリ樹脂層用の樹脂組成物を作製した。
[光ファイバの作製]
 直径125μmのガラスファイバの外周面に、プライマリ被覆用の樹脂組成物とセカンダリ被覆用の樹脂組成物とをそれぞれ塗布した。次いで、紫外線を照射することでそれぞれの樹脂組成物を硬化し、プライマリ被覆層およびセカンダリ被覆層を形成し、光ファイバを作製した。プライマリ被覆層の厚さを32μm、セカンダリ被覆層の厚さを28μmとし、外径245μmの光ファイバを作製した。光ファイバの作製は、製造速度3000m/分で行った。また、光ファイバを作製した後、必要に応じて光ファイバに追加で紫外線照射を実施した。試験例1~14は実施例に相当し、試験例15~18は比較例に相当する。
[評価]
 各試験例の光ファイバについて、以下の評価を行った。結果を表3、表4および表5に示す。
(ホスフィンオキシド系開始剤およびトリメチル安息香酸の含有量)
 光ファイバ0.5gをバイアル瓶に入れ、アセトン20mLを加え、超音波洗浄機で60分間抽出を行った。抽出液をガスクロマトグラフ(GC)により測定することで、光ファイバ中のホスフィンオキシド系開始剤およびトリメチル安息香酸の含有量(質量%)を求めた。測定装置として、株式会社島津製作所製の「GC2030」を用い、カラムとして、フロンティアラボ社製の「UA-1」(無極性、内径0.25mm×長さ30m、膜厚0.25μm)を用いた。測定温度は、100℃から昇温速度20℃/分で160℃まで昇温後、昇温速度5℃/分で230℃まで昇温し、次いで昇温速度60℃/分で350℃まで昇温後、350℃で15分保持した。
(被覆除去力)
 光ファイバを85℃のジェリー(SHANGHAI HONGHUI OPTICS COMMUNICATION TECH.CO.,LTD.製、商品名「LT-410」)に120日間浸漬した。JIS C 6821に準じて、光ファイバの被覆除去力(N)を浸漬前後で測定し、国際規格(IEC60793-1-2)に準じて、光ファイバの被覆除去力の平均値を求めた。国際規格における被覆除去力の平均値は、1.0N以上5.0N以下である。
(プルアウト力)
 40W白色蛍光灯から60cmの距離に光ファイバを配置し、1000ルクスの光を室温で7日間照射した。1000ルクスの光を照射する前後の光ファイバについて、ガラスファイバから被覆樹脂層を引き抜く時の10mmあたりのプルアウト力を特開2001-194565号公報等に記載の方法に基づき測定した。プルアウト力の変化率を下記式から算出した。

Claims (9)

  1.  コアおよびクラッドを含むガラスファイバと、前記ガラスファイバを被覆する被覆樹脂層と、を備える光ファイバであって、
     前記被覆樹脂層が、光重合性化合物およびホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤を含有する樹脂組成物の硬化物と、トリメチル安息香酸とを含み、
     前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤の含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下であり、
     前記トリメチル安息香酸の含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.2質量%以下である、光ファイバ。
  2.  前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシド、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステル、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシド、およびトリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルからなる群より選ばれる少なくとも1つを含む、請求項1に記載の光ファイバ。
  3.  前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドであり、
     前記2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルジフェニルホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.1質量%以下である、請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
  4.  前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルであり、
     前記2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイルフェニルホスホン酸エチルエステルの含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下である、請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
  5.  前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドであり、
     前記フェニルビス(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィンオキシドの含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下である、請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
  6.  前記ホスフィンオキシド系光重合開始剤が、トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルであり、
     前記トリ[フェニル(2,4,6-トリメチルベンゾイル)ホスフィン酸]ポリエチレングリコールエステルの含有量が、前記光ファイバの総量を基準として、0.001質量%以上0.5質量%以下である、請求項2に記載の光ファイバ。
  7.  並列に配置された複数の請求項1から請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の光ファイバと、複数の前記光ファイバを被覆して連結する連結樹脂層と、を備える、光ファイバリボン。
  8.  請求項7に記載の光ファイバリボンが、ケーブル内に収納された、光ファイバケーブル。
  9.  請求項1から請求項6のいずれか一項に記載の光ファイバが、ケーブル内に複数収納された、光ファイバケーブル。
