Definitions

  • This disclosure relates to a device used for inspecting gear tooth contact and a tooth contact inspection method using the same.
  • Gear tooth contact is one of the factors that affect gear noise, transmitted power, and transmission efficiency, and tooth contact inspections are performed when gears are assembled or maintained.
  • tooth contact inspections workers apply paint to the tooth surfaces, engage the gears, transfer the paint that has been scraped off by the meshing or the paint that remains after scraping off onto a tape, and visually observe the paint transferred to the tape to evaluate the tooth contact center of gravity, area, etc.
  • conventional inspection methods have issues such as reduced judgment accuracy due to stains on the tape onto which the paint has been transferred and unclear tooth surface contours, and the method being dependent on the skill of the worker. Therefore, a method has been proposed to achieve quantitative gear tooth contact inspection that does not rely on the worker's visual sensory inspection.
  • the gear tooth contact inspection method described in Patent Document 1 involves applying paint to the surface of the gear to be inspected or to the mating surface of the gear that meshes with this gear, transferring any remaining paint on the surface to be inspected that peels off as the gear pair rotates onto a tape, and then photographing the tape with the transferred paint using a camera.
  • the resulting image data is then processed by a computer to inspect the tooth contact condition on the surface to be inspected.
  • Patent Document 1 does not clarify how to identify the area of the surface to be inspected, and does not provide information such as the dimensions and positions of the tooth contact on the tooth surface or the errors contained therein.
  • This disclosure has been made in consideration of the above circumstances, and its purpose is to improve the measurement accuracy of the dimensions and positions of tooth contact on the tooth surface in gear tooth contact inspection.
