- the HMI includes any component capable of receiving a command from the user, whether this command relates to the driving of the vehicle or to the control of interior equipment, and/or capable of transmitting information to the driver.

- the vehicle’s operating mode can, in particular, identify whether the vehicle is stationary or moving;
- any other information descriptive of the current situation of the vehicle for example vehicle speed, number of passengers, etc.
- control module 101 activates a second function of the vehicle, the second function being distinct from the first function, at least as a function of the user input received in step 302.
- the second function which is any function distinct from the first DAA function.
- the second function can be activated by interaction with a pictogram already used by the first DAA function, and the deployment of the second function thus imposes no additional clutter on the graphical interface 200.
- the second function may be an infotainment function or a vehicle safety function.
- the second function may use, just like the first DAA function, the camera 106 described above. It is thus possible to enhance the functions of the vehicle, without adding new components to the vehicle, and without cluttering up the graphical interface 200, since the pictogram 201 is already used to indicate the operating state of the first function. A pooling of graphical elements and hardware components may thus be provided between the first and second functions.
- Steps 303 and 304 are implemented only in certain embodiments of the invention. Indeed, the control module 101 can activate the second function at step 305:
- the second function may be a single second function, which is implemented upon receipt of input of a given type on the first pictogram 201 , or may be selected from among several possible second functions, the selection being made from the given type.
- the other possible second functions may thus be associated with other types of user input;
- the second function may be a single second function, which is implemented upon reception of the user input in the given vehicle situation, identified by the descriptive information obtained in step 304, or may be selected from several possible second functions, the selection being made from the descriptive information of the current vehicle situation.
- the other possible second functions may thus be associated with driving situations other than the given vehicle situation; or
- the second function may be a single second function, which is implemented on reception of the user input of the given type, identified in step 304, and in the given vehicle situation, identified by the descriptive information obtained in step 304, or may be selected from several possible second functions, the selection being made from the type of user input determined in step 303 and from the descriptive information of the current vehicle situation determined in step 304.
- the other possible second functions may thus be associated with other combinations of user input types and vehicle situations.
- Activating the image capture function by the interior camera 106 may comprise, at a step 306, acquiring an image and storing the acquired image in a memory of the vehicle 100 accessible via the central screen 103.
- the memory is not shown in FIG. 1.
- the interior camera 106 may be oriented so as to acquire an image representing at least the driver.
- a field of vision of the camera 106 may be adapted according to information indicating the number of passengers in the vehicle. Such information may be obtained by the control module 101 from a seat belt reminder function, also called “Seat Belt Reminder” in English.
- the seat belt reminder function indicates that the passenger seat belt is not fastened
- the field of vision of the camera 106 may be adapted by the control module 101 to acquire an image centered on the driver.
- the seat belt reminder function indicates that the passenger seat belt is fastened
- the field of view of the camera 106 can be adapted by the control module 101 to acquire an image including the driver and the passenger.
- the image capture function by the interior camera 106 by receiving a user input on the picogram 201 can be implemented in a current situation of the vehicle in which the vehicle is moving.
- the user input allowing the activation of the image capture function by the interior camera 106 can be of the long press type for example.
- the image acquired during step 306 is not displayed on the graphic interface 200 of the central screen 103, so as not to disturb the driver while driving the vehicle, the vehicle then being in a moving situation.
- activating the function for viewing an image stored in the vehicle 100 may comprise, at a step 307, the display by the control module 101, on the central screen 103, of at least one image stored in the vehicle. No restriction is attached to the source from which said at least one stored image comes.
- the stored image may come from activating the image capture function during step 306 described above while the vehicle 100 is moving.
- activation of the image viewing function in step 307 may be implemented when the current vehicle condition is that the vehicle is stationary.
- the image viewing function is only activated if the vehicle is stationary, for example when it is determined in step 304 that the current vehicle condition is that the vehicle is in “parking” mode.
- the type of user input for selecting the image viewing function may be a click, or single tap, on the first pictogram 201.
- the user while the image viewing function is activated, the user, driver or passenger, can browse the stored images and display them on the central screen 103.
- the control module 101 verifies that the vehicle 100 is still in parking mode, at a step 308. If a change in the operating mode of the vehicle is detected, from parking mode to a driving mode, the image display function can be interrupted and the method returns to step 301.
- the vehicle interior monitoring function 100 may be activated following a user input received on the first pictogram 201 , while the current situation of the vehicle is that the vehicle is stationary, in particular in parking mode.
- the activation of the vehicle interior monitoring function 100 may in particular follow the reception of a user input of the long press type on the first pictogram 201 .
- the control module 101 may thus be able to implement, in the same current parking mode situation, either the vehicle interior monitoring function or the image display function, the selection of one or the other of the functions being made according to the type of user input.
- activating the vehicle interior monitoring function 100 may include the following steps:
- the control module 101 changes a color of the first pictogram 201, in order to indicate that the activation is effective.
- the control module 101 may indicate that a locking of the vehicle 100 is required to activate a sentinel mode of the vehicle interior monitoring function 100. That is, although the function is already active, the sentinel mode is not activated until the driver locks the vehicle;

- the sentinel mode is activated, in which surveillance of the interior of the vehicle is implemented on the basis of images acquired by the camera 106.
- the sentinel mode may involve the acquisition of images in the event of detection of movement inside the vehicle.
- control module 101 is capable of implementing two of the three second functions mentioned above, or the three second functions mentioned above, or even other second functions not described, which are then called “second possible functions”, and step 305 makes it possible to select one of the second possible functions, depending on the current situation of the vehicle identified in step 304, and/or the type of user input identified in step 303.
