Description

Vehicle grille and method for designing vehicle grille
The present invention relates to a vehicle grille and a method for designing a vehicle grille.
This application claims priority based on Japanese Patent Application No. 2022-171323, filed in Japan on October 26, 2022, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference.
For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a vehicle equipped with a vehicle front grille. As shown in Patent Document 1, the vehicle front grille is disposed at the front of the vehicle. Furthermore, such a vehicle front grille is generally positioned between two headlights disposed at the front of the vehicle.
Japanese Patent Publication No. 2003-81034
However, a vehicle grille such as the vehicle front grille disclosed in Patent Document 1 is an exterior part that can be seen from outside the vehicle. Such a vehicle grille may be used as a support for supporting other exterior parts. For example, a vehicle grille disposed between two headlights may be used as a support for supporting an upper garnish located above the two headlights. However, due to deformation of the vehicle grille itself or deformation of the vehicle parts supporting the vehicle grille, the upper garnish after assembly may be shifted slightly downward from its original installation position. In such a case, the upper garnish may interfere with the headlight. In other words, when the vehicle grille supports a second exterior part located above a first exterior part, the second exterior part may interfere with the first exterior part. In such a case where the first exterior part and the second exterior part interfere with each other, it becomes necessary to redesign the overall shape of the vehicle grille, and large-scale measures such as remaking a mold are required as necessary.
The present invention was made in consideration of the above-mentioned problems, and aims to make it possible to easily adjust the height position of a second exterior part in a vehicle grill that supports a second exterior part located above a first exterior part.

The fifth aspect of the present invention is the fourth aspect, in which two adjacent first through holes of the plurality of first through holes are arranged at a constant distance in the vertical direction, and the positions of the plurality of second through holes in the vertical direction are constant.

In a seventh aspect of the present invention, the vehicle grille of any one of the first to sixth aspects includes a temporary retaining claw portion provided on one of the lower part and the upper part, and a latchable portion provided on the other of the lower part and the upper part and capable of latching the temporary retaining claw portion.
In an eighth aspect of the present invention, the vehicle grille of any one of the first to seventh aspects is provided with a plurality of decorative parts that are visible from the outside, and the plurality of decorative parts are attached to the lower part.
The ninth aspect of the present invention is a method for designing a vehicle grille that supports a second exterior part located above a first exterior part, the vehicle grille comprising a lower part that is fixed to an external part, an upper part to which the second exterior part is fixed and at least a portion of which is located above the lower part and fastened to the lower part, and a height determination unit that determines the vertical position of the upper part relative to the lower part, and the method includes a shape tentative determination process for tentatively determining the shapes of the lower part and the upper part, a positional relationship confirmation process for confirming the positional relationship between the first exterior part and the second exterior part using the lower part and the upper part whose shapes have been tentatively determined in the shape tentative determination process, a height adjustment process for adjusting the vertical position of the upper part relative to the lower part by the height determination unit based on the confirmation result of the positional relationship confirmation process, and a determination process for determining the vertical position of the upper part relative to the lower part based on the adjustment result of the height adjustment process.
The tenth aspect of the present invention is the ninth aspect, wherein the height determining portion is provided on one of the lower part and the upper part and includes a height determining protrusion that contacts the other part from above and below, and the height adjustment process adjusts the amount of protrusion of the height determining protrusion in the above and below direction, and the determination process determines the shapes of the lower part and the upper part including the height determining protrusion whose amount of protrusion has been adjusted in the height adjustment process.
The eleventh aspect of the present invention is the ninth aspect, wherein the height determining portion includes a plurality of first through holes formed in either the lower part or the upper part, and a plurality of second through holes formed in the other of the lower part or the upper part, each corresponding to the plurality of first through holes, and the vertical distance between two adjacent first through holes of the plurality of first through holes is different from the vertical distance between two adjacent second through holes of the plurality of second through holes corresponding to the two first through holes, and the height adjustment step includes selecting one first through hole from the plurality of first through holes and selecting one second through hole from the plurality of second through holes for inserting a pin member therethrough, and the determination step includes inserting and engaging the pin member through the selected one first through hole and one second through hole.
According to the present invention, the vehicle grille is divided into an upper part and a lower part. Furthermore, the height-direction position of the upper part relative to the lower part can be changed by the height-regulating unit. Therefore, for example, if it becomes necessary to correct the positional relationship of the second exterior part relative to the first exterior part, the height-direction position of the second exterior part relative to the first exterior part can be adjusted by adjusting the height-direction position of the upper part relative to the lower part by the height-regulating unit, without having to reconsider the overall shape of the vehicle grille. Therefore, according to the present invention, in a vehicle grille that supports the second exterior part located above the first exterior part, the height-direction position of the second exterior part can be easily adjusted.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of a vehicle grille and a method for designing a vehicle grille according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. In the following description, an example in which the vehicle grille of the present invention is applied to a radiator grille will be described. However, the present invention is not limited to radiator grilles, and can be applied to grilles installed in vehicles.
Hereinafter, the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle in which the vehicle grille of the present invention is installed may be referred to simply as the "fore-and-aft direction", the width direction of the vehicle may be referred to simply as the "width direction" (or "vehicle width direction"), and the up-and-down direction of the vehicle may be referred to simply as the "up-and-down direction" (or "height direction").
A first embodiment of the present invention will be described below.
1 is a front view of a vehicle 100 equipped with a radiator grille (vehicle grille) according to this embodiment. The radiator grille 1 according to this embodiment is a front grille installed at the front of the vehicle 100, and is disposed in front of a radiator disposed inside an engine compartment. This radiator grille 1 is an exterior component formed mainly from resin.
As shown in FIG. 1, the vehicle 100 has two headlights 101 (first exterior part) arranged at a distance in the vehicle width direction (horizontal direction). The headlights 101 are lighting devices that illuminate the area ahead of the vehicle, and are exterior parts that are visible from outside the vehicle 100 and form the external appearance of the vehicle 100. The vehicle 100 also has an upper garnish 102 (second exterior part) located above the headlights 101. The upper garnish 102 is a plate-shaped exterior part whose longitudinal direction is the vehicle width direction. One longitudinal end of the upper garnish 102 is located above one of the two headlights 101, and the other longitudinal end is located above the other of the two headlights 101.
The headlights 101 are fixed to, for example, the vehicle frame, and are not directly supported by the radiator grille 1. On the other hand, the upper garnish 102 is directly supported by the radiator grille 1, which is fixed to the bumper or the vehicle frame. In other words, in this embodiment, the radiator grille 1 supports the upper garnish 102, which is a second exterior part located above the headlights 101, which is a first exterior part. The upper garnish 102 has a central part in the vehicle width direction connected to the radiator grille 1, and both ends in the vehicle width direction protrude outward in the vehicle width direction beyond the radiator grille 1.
FIG. 2 is a front view showing the schematic configuration of the radiator grill 1 of this embodiment. FIG. 3 is a rear view showing the schematic configuration of the radiator grill 1 of this embodiment. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view taken along line IV-IV in FIG. 3.
As shown in Figures 2 to 4, the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment comprises a grille body 2, a first decorative part 3, and a second decorative part 4. The grille body 2 is fixed to, for example, the bumper or body frame of the vehicle 100, and supports the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4. The grille body 2 also supports the above-mentioned upper garnish 102 from below.
For example, as shown in Figures 2 to 4, the grill body 2 comprises an upper part 5, a lower part 6, and screws 7. Figure 5 is a schematic exploded view of the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 as viewed from the rear. As shown in Figure 5, the radiator grill 1 of this embodiment is formed by dividing it into the upper part 5 and the lower part 6. In Figure 5, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are depicted spaced apart in the vertical direction.
The upper part 5 is a resin part that forms the upper part of the grill body 2. At least a part of the upper part 5 is located above the lower part 6. The upper part 5 has a front part 5a and an upper wall part 5b, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, for example. The front part 5a is a part that is fixed to the lower part 6. In this embodiment, the front part 5a has a first part that extends in the vertical direction at a position above the lower part 6, a second part that extends rearward from the lower end of the first part, and a third part that extends downward from the rear end of the second part, and is formed in a crank shape when viewed in the width direction. Note that the front part 5a is not limited to this shape, and may have any shape as long as it has a surface that faces downward and is located above the lower part 6 (corresponding to the lower surface of the second part in this embodiment). Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VI-VI in Fig. 5 when the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are fixed.
As shown in FIG. 6, the front portion 5a of the upper part 5 is located above the lower part 6 and has a wall surface 5a1 facing downward. In other words, the wall surface 5a1 corresponds to the lower surface of the second part. The wall surface 5a1 is provided with a height regulating protrusion 5c that protrudes downward. In other words, in this embodiment, the upper part 5 has a height regulating protrusion 5c that protrudes downward. The height regulating protrusion 5c corresponds to a height regulating portion 10 that regulates the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6. In other words, the height regulating portion 10 in this embodiment is provided with a height regulating protrusion 5c.
The height-regulating protrusion 5c is a protrusion that abuts against the lower part 6 from above. In other words, the lower end of the height-regulating protrusion 5c abuts against the lower part 6 from above. This height-regulating protrusion 5c regulates the positional relationship between the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 in the vertical direction. For example, when the height-regulating protrusion 5c protrudes a large amount from the wall surface 5a1, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are positioned farther apart in the vertical direction than when the protrusion amount is small.
In other words, if the position of the lower part 6 is fixed, the greater the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the higher the upper part 5 will be positioned. Also, if the position of the lower part 6 is fixed, the smaller the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the lower the upper part 5 will be positioned.
In addition, in this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 5, multiple height regulating protrusions 5c (i.e., height regulating portions 10) are arranged in the width direction of the vehicle 100 (the vehicle width direction when the radiator grille 1 is attached to the vehicle 100). The height regulating protrusions 5c may be paired in pairs of two that are arranged close to each other, with multiple pairs provided along the vehicle width direction. By providing multiple height regulating protrusions 5c in this manner, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 come into contact with each other at multiple points via the height regulating protrusions 5c, preventing the upper part 5 from tilting relative to the lower part 6 when viewed from the front of the vehicle.
Also, as shown in FIG. 6, each height-regulating protrusion 5c is provided extending linearly along the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100 (the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle when the radiator grille 1 is attached to the vehicle 100). This allows each height-regulating protrusion 5c to come into contact with the lower part 6 over a wide range in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle. This makes it possible to prevent the upper part 5 from tilting relative to the lower part 6 when viewed from the direction along the vehicle width direction.
Returning to FIG. 4, the upper wall portion 5b is formed to protrude rearward from the upper end of the front portion 5a, and is a plate-shaped portion to which the upper garnish 102 is fixed. That is, the upper wall portion 5b extends rearward from the upper end of the first portion of the front portion 5a. The upper wall portion 5b supports the upper garnish 102 from below. Since the upper garnish 102 is fixed to the upper wall portion 5b of the upper part 5 in this manner, it is also moved upward when the upper part 5 is moved upward. In other words, the greater the protrusion amount of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the higher the position of the upper part 5, and therefore the upper garnish 102 is also positioned upward. Also, the smaller the protrusion amount of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the lower the position of the upper part 5, and therefore the upper garnish 102 is also positioned downward.
As mentioned above, the headlights 101 are not directly connected to the radiator grille 1. Therefore, the greater the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the more the upper garnish 102 supported by the radiator grille 1 is moved upward and away from the headlights 101. Also, the smaller the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the more the upper garnish 102 supported by the radiator grille 1 is moved downward and closer to the headlights 101.
As shown in FIG. 5, a temporary holding opening 5a2 (retained portion) is provided in the front portion 5a of the upper part 5. In this embodiment, two temporary holding openings 5a2 are provided in the upper part 5. Each temporary holding opening 5a2 is formed penetrating in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100, and a protrusion 6b1 of a temporary holding claw portion 6b (described later) of the lower part 6 is inserted into it. Note that the number of temporary holding openings 5a2 and temporary holding claw portions 6b is not limited to two, and three or more may be provided.
The front portion 5a of the upper part 5 is provided with a number of screw insertion holes 5d. These screw insertion holes 5d are holes through which screws 7 are inserted to fasten the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 together.
As shown in FIG. 4, the lower part 6 is a resin part that forms the lower part of the grill body 2. The lower part 6 is fixed to an external part 103 (a part that is provided on the vehicle 100 and is different from the radiator grill 1) such as a bumper or a body frame. As shown in FIG. 5, for example, the lower part 6 has a base 6a, a temporary holding claw part 6b, a support wall 6c, and a protruding wall 6d.
The base 6a is the main structural part of the radiator grille 1 and has multiple openings 6a1 that penetrate in the front-rear direction. In this embodiment, each opening 6a1 is formed in a rectangular shape with the vehicle width direction as the longitudinal direction. The multiple openings 6a1 are arranged in the vertical direction. Such a base 6a has multiple horizontal bar portions 6a2 provided between the openings 6a1. The shape of each opening 6a1 is not particularly limited. Also, for example, in an electric vehicle or the like that does not have an internal combustion engine, it is possible to adopt a configuration that does not have openings 6a1.
Each horizontal bar portion 6a2 is provided with a plurality of mounting portions 6a3 for mounting the second decorative part 4. The upper edge portion 6a4 of the base portion 6a is the portion where the upper part 5 is mounted. This upper edge portion 6a4 is provided with claw openings 6a5 in accordance with the installation positions of each temporary holding claw portion 6b. These claw openings 6a5 are provided penetrating the base portion 6a in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100. By providing such claw openings 6a5, the temporary holding claw portions 6b can elastically deform in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100.
The upper edge 6a4 of the base 6a is provided with a plurality of female threaded portions 6a6 into which the screws 7 are screwed. Each female threaded portion 6a6 is positioned so as to overlap with a screw insertion hole 5d of the upper part 5 when the upper part 5 is attached to the lower part 6. The lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are fastened together by screwing the screw 7 inserted into the screw insertion hole 5d into each female threaded portion 6a6. The upper edge 6a4 of the base 6a is also provided with a plurality of mounting portions 6a7 for mounting the first decorative part 3.
Such a base 6a is fixed to an external part 103 such as a bumper or a vehicle frame via an attachment part (not shown). In other words, in this embodiment, the lower part 6 is fixed to an external part 103 such as a bumper or a vehicle frame.
The temporary retaining claw portions 6b are arranged to hang down from the upper edge (i.e., the inner surface facing downward) of each claw opening 6a5 of the base 6a. In this embodiment, since two claw openings 6a5 are provided, two temporary retaining claw portions 6b are also provided. Figure 7 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VII-VII in Figure 5 when the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are fixed. As shown in Figure 7, each temporary retaining claw portion 6b is formed with a thickness dimension that allows it to bend and deform in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100. In addition, each temporary retaining claw portion 6b has a protrusion 6b1 that protrudes toward the rear of the vehicle 100.
When the upper part 5 is attached to the lower part 6, the protrusion 6b1 of each temporary holding claw portion 6b comes into contact with the upper part 5 moving downward, and the temporary holding claw portion 6b is elastically deformed toward the front side of the vehicle 100. Thereafter, when the temporary holding opening 5a2 provided in the upper part 5 reaches the protrusion 6b1, each temporary holding claw portion 6b restores its original shape. As a result, the protrusion 6b1 of the temporary holding claw portion 6b enters the temporary holding opening 5a2. The protrusion 6b1 of the temporary holding claw portion 6b enters the temporary holding opening 5a2, preventing the upper part 5 from being pulled out upward from the lower part 6. The vertical size of the temporary holding opening 5a2 is greater than the vertical width of the protrusion 6b1. Therefore, even when the protrusion 6b1 is inserted into the temporary holding opening 5a2, the upper part 5 can move slightly vertically relative to the lower part 6. Therefore, the protrusion 6b1 does not prevent the adjustment of the vertical position of the upper part 5 using the height-regulating protrusion 5c.
8 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VIII-VIII in FIG. 5 when the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are fixed. As shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the support wall 6c is connected to a portion of the base 6a located below the claw opening 6a5. The support wall 6c protrudes from the base 6a toward the rear of the vehicle 100, and is then bent upward. Such a support wall 6c has a vertical wall portion 6c1 parallel to the rear surface of the base 6a. That is, the support wall 6c has a front-rear extending portion 6c2 extending rearward from the base 6a, and a vertical wall portion 6c1 extending upward from the rear end of the front-rear extending portion 6c2. The vertical wall portion 6c1 is disposed rearward and spaced apart from the base 6a when viewed in the vehicle width direction. The distance between the rear surface of the base 6a and the front surface of the vertical wall portion 6c1 is set to a dimension that allows the lower edge portion of the front portion 5a of the upper part 5 (i.e., the third portion) to be inserted. Therefore, the lower edge of the upper part 5 can be inserted between the base 6a and the standing wall 6c1. When the upper part 5 is inserted between the base 6a and the standing wall 6c1, the base 6a is located in front of the lower edge of the upper part 5, and the standing wall 6c1 is located behind the lower edge. As a result, the movement of the upper part 5 in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100 is restricted. In other words, in this embodiment, the upper part 5 attached to the lower part 6 is sandwiched between the base 6a and the standing wall 6c1, thereby restricting the movement of the vehicle 100 in the fore-and-aft direction.
The protruding wall 6d is a wall that protrudes upward from the lower edge of the claw opening 6a5 (i.e., the inner surface facing upward). This protruding wall 6d is located in front of the lower edge of the upper part 5, which is located between the base 6a and the standing wall 6c1. By providing such a protruding wall 6d, the forward movement of the upper part 5 attached to the lower part 6 is restricted not only by the base 6a but also by the protruding wall 6d. Therefore, the movement of the upper part 5 attached to the lower part 6 in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100 can be more reliably restricted.
Each screw 7 is inserted into a screw insertion hole 5d provided in the upper part 5 and is screwed into the female threaded portion 6a6 of the lower part 6. The upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are fastened together by these screws 7 as described above. The fastening structure of the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 is not limited to the screw 7 screwed into the female threaded portion 6a6, but may be a fastening structure using a bolt and a nut, or a pin member having an elastically deformable locking claw. In addition, since the vertical size of the screw insertion hole 5d in this embodiment is larger than the outer diameter of the screw 7, even if the screw 7 is inserted into the screw insertion hole 5d, the upper part 5 has a vertical movement margin relative to the lower part 6. Therefore, even after the vertical position of the upper part 5 is adjusted using the height regulation protrusion 5c, the screw 7 can be properly screwed into the female threaded portion 6a6.
The first decorative part 3 is a resin part that covers the connection between the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 from the front of the vehicle. As shown in FIG. 4, the first decorative part 3 has a locking claw 3a that protrudes toward the rear. There are multiple locking claws 3a. Each locking claw 3a is inserted into an attachment portion 6a7 provided on the lower part 6, and thereby locked to the lower part 6. The first decorative part 3 is fixed to the lower part 6 by locking these locking claws 3a to the lower part 6.
The second decorative part 4 is a resin part that is placed in front of the horizontal bar portion 6a2 of the lower part 6. As shown in FIG. 4, multiple second decorative parts 4 are provided for each horizontal bar portion 6a2. Each second decorative part 4 has a locking claw 4a that protrudes rearward. Multiple locking claws 4a are provided for each second decorative part 4. Each locking claw 4a is inserted into an attachment portion 6a3 provided on the lower part 6, and thereby locked to the lower part 6. The second decorative part 4 is fixed to the lower part 6 by locking these locking claws 4a to the lower part 6.
When assembling the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment with such a configuration, first the upper part 5 is attached to the lower part 6. At this time, the lower edge of the front part 5a of the upper part 5 is inserted between the base part 6a of the lower part 6 and the vertical wall part 6c1 of the support wall 6c. In this state, the upper part 5 is moved downward relative to the lower part 6.
As a result, the protrusion 6b1 of the temporary holding claw portion 6b of the lower part 6 fits into the temporary holding opening 5a2 provided in the front portion 5a of the upper part 5. This prevents the upper part 5 from slipping out of the lower part 6 in the vertical and width directions. In addition, because the front portion 5a of the upper part 5 is sandwiched between the base portion 6a of the lower part 6 and the vertical wall portion 6c1 of the support wall 6c, movement of the upper part 5 in the front-to-rear direction relative to the lower part 6 is restricted. Therefore, even before fastening with the screws 7, the upper part 5 is temporarily held by the lower part 6.
Furthermore, the height-direction position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6 is determined by the height-regulating protrusion 5c provided on the upper part 5 abutting against the upper end of the base 6a of the lower part 6. The amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c is set in advance so that the upper garnish 102 does not interfere with the headlight 101. Therefore, by the height-regulating protrusion 5c abutting against the upper end of the base 6a of the lower part 6, the height-direction position of the upper part 5 is determined at a position where the upper garnish 102 does not interfere with the headlight 101.
Then, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are fastened together with the screws 7. Furthermore, the first decorative part 3 is attached to the lower part 6. Furthermore, the second decorative part 4 is attached to the lower part 6. Note that the timing of attaching the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4 can be changed.
Next, a method for designing the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. 9. In other words, the method for designing the radiator grille 1 described below is a method for designing a radiator grille 1 that supports a second exterior part (upper garnish 102) that is located above a first exterior part (headlight 101).
In the design method of the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, first, the shapes of the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are provisionally determined (provisional shape determination step S1). Here, the amount of protrusion of the height regulating protrusion 5c provided on the upper part 5 is provisionally determined. For example, it is preferable to set the amount of protrusion of the height regulating protrusion 5c here to an amount that can be increased later. In other words, it is preferable to set the shape of the upper part 5 to a shape that leaves room for it to move upward relative to the lower part 6 later. Furthermore, it is preferable to set the amount of protrusion of the height regulating protrusion 5c here to an amount that can be decreased later. In other words, it is preferable to set the shape of the upper part 5 to a shape that leaves room for it to move downward relative to the lower part 6 later.
Next, the positional relationship between the headlight 101 and the upper garnish 102 is confirmed (positional relationship confirmation process S2). Here, the positional relationship between the headlight 101 and the upper garnish 102 is confirmed using the upper part 5 and lower part 6 whose shapes have been provisionally determined in the shape provisional determination process S1. In the positional relationship confirmation process S2, the positional relationship between the headlight 101 and the upper garnish 102 may be confirmed by simulation. However, it is better to confirm the positional relationship between the headlight 101 and the upper garnish 102 by actually creating and assembling the actual parts.
Next, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c is adjusted (height adjustment process S3). Here, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c is adjusted based on the confirmation result of the positional relationship confirmation process S2. For example, if the confirmation result obtained in the positional relationship confirmation process S2 is that the upper garnish 102 will interfere with the headlight 101, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c is increased. By increasing the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the position of the upper part 5 is raised, and at the same time, the position of the upper garnish 102 can be raised. Therefore, interference between the upper garnish 102 and the headlight 101 can be avoided.
The upper part 5 is formed by injection molding of resin. Therefore, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c can be adjusted by adjusting the shape of the mold used during injection molding. For example, if the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c needs to be increased, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c can be easily increased by removing part of the mold.
In addition, if it is determined that the upper garnish 102 is too far above the headlight 101, the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c is reduced. By reducing the amount of protrusion of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the position of the upper part 5 is lowered, and at the same time, the position of the upper garnish 102 can be lowered. Therefore, the gap between the upper garnish 102 and the headlight 101 can be reduced.
Next, the shapes of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are determined (determination step S4). Here, the shapes of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are determined so as to include the height-regulating protrusion 5c whose protrusion amount has been adjusted in the height adjustment step S3. In other words, the shape of the upper part 5 is determined based on the protrusion amount of the height-regulating protrusion 5c adjusted in the height adjustment step S3. Note that if there is no room to increase or decrease the protrusion amount of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the shape of the lower part 6 may be changed to determine the height position of the upper part 5.
The shapes of the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4 can be determined, for example, separately from the process shown in FIG. 9. Therefore, the shapes of the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4 can be determined after the shapes of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are determined. Also, the shapes of the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4 may be determined before the shapes of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are determined. Furthermore, the shapes of the first decorative part 3 and the second decorative part 4 may be determined in parallel with the shapes of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5.
By manufacturing a radiator grill 1 designed using the design method of the radiator grill 1 of this embodiment, it is possible to mass-produce radiator grills 1 that can appropriately adjust the positional relationship between the upper garnish 102 and the headlights 101.
The radiator grill 1 of this embodiment as described above supports the upper garnish 102 located above the headlight 101. The radiator grill 1 of this embodiment also includes a lower part 6 and an upper part 5. The lower part 6 is fixed to an external part 103. The upper part 5 has the upper garnish 102 fixed thereto, and is located above the lower part 6 and fastened to the lower part 6. The radiator grill 1 of this embodiment also has a height-regulating protrusion 5c that is provided on the upper part 5, which is one of the lower part 6 and upper part 5, and abuts the lower part 6, which is the other, from above.
According to the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the radiator grille 1 is divided into an upper part 5 and a lower part 6. Furthermore, by adjusting the height dimension of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, the heightwise position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6 can be changed. Therefore, for example, if it becomes necessary to correct the positional relationship of the upper garnish 102 relative to the headlight 101, the heightwise position of the upper garnish 102 relative to the headlight 101 can be adjusted by adjusting only the height dimension (i.e., the amount of protrusion) of the height-regulating protrusion 5c, without having to reconsider the overall shape of the radiator grille 1. Therefore, according to the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the heightwise position of the upper garnish 102 can be easily adjusted.
Furthermore, in the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, multiple height-regulating protrusions 5c are provided and arranged in the width direction of the vehicle 100. Therefore, in the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 abut at multiple points in the vehicle width direction, and it is possible to prevent the upper part 5 from tilting relative to the lower part 6 when viewed from the front of the vehicle 100.
In addition, in the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the height-regulating protrusion 5c is provided extending linearly in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle 100. This allows the height-regulating protrusion 5c to come into contact with the lower part 6 over a wide range in the fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle. Therefore, the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment can prevent the upper part 5 from tilting relative to the lower part 6 when viewed from the direction along the vehicle width direction.
The radiator grille 1 of this embodiment also includes a temporary retaining claw portion 6b provided on the lower part 6, which is one of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5. The radiator grille 1 of this embodiment also includes a temporary retaining opening 5a2 provided on the upper part 5, which is the other of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5, and capable of engaging the temporary retaining claw portion 6b.
In the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the upper part 5 can be temporarily held relative to the lower part 6 before the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 are fastened together during assembly. This allows the lower part 6 and the upper part 5 to be fastened together with the positional relationship between them being stable.
The radiator grille 1 of this embodiment also includes multiple decorative parts (first decorative part 3 and second decorative part 4) that are visible from the outside. These first decorative part 3 and second decorative part 4 are attached to the lower part 6. In other words, in the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, all decorative parts are attached to the lower part 6. This prevents the weight of the decorative parts from being placed on the upper part 5, and by attaching the decorative parts, it is possible to prevent the position of the upper garnish 102 from changing.
The design method for the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment is a design method for the radiator grille 1 that supports the upper garnish 102 located above the headlight 101. The design method for the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment includes a shape tentative determination process S1, a positional relationship confirmation process S2, a height adjustment process S3, and a determination process S4.
The provisional shape determination process S1 is a process for provisionally determining the shape of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5. The positional relationship confirmation process S2 is a process for confirming the positional relationship between the headlight 101 and the upper garnish 102 in the shape provisionally determined in the provisional shape determination process S1. The height adjustment process S3 is a process for adjusting the protrusion amount of the height-regulating protrusion 5c based on the confirmation result of the positional relationship confirmation process S2. The determination process S4 is a process for determining the shape of the lower part 6 and the upper part 5, including the height-regulating protrusion 5c whose protrusion amount has been adjusted in the height adjustment process S3.
According to the design method of the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, if it becomes necessary to modify the positional relationship of the upper garnish 102 relative to the headlight 101 in the positional relationship confirmation step S2, the height dimension (i.e., the amount of protrusion) of the height-regulating protrusion 5c alone can be adjusted to adjust the height direction position of the upper garnish 102 relative to the headlight 101 without reconsidering the overall shape of the radiator grille 1. Therefore, according to the design method of the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the positional relationship between the upper garnish 102 and the headlight 101 can be appropriately set.
Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described below.
In this embodiment, the same components as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof will be omitted or simplified.
FIG. 10 is a front view showing a part of the upper part 5 and a part of the lower part 6 of the radiator grille 1 in this embodiment. FIG. 10 shows the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 connected to each other by a pin member 11 described later. FIG. 11 is a cross-sectional view taken along line XI-XI in FIG. 10. FIG. 12 is a front view showing the arrangement of the first through holes 8 and the second through holes 9 in this embodiment, where (a) shows the arrangement of the first through holes 8 formed in the upper part 5 and (b) shows the arrangement of the second through holes 9 formed in the lower part 6. The upper part 5 and the lower part 6 in this embodiment are made of resin, but are not limited to this and may be made of metal, wood, etc.
As shown in Figures 10 and 11, a plurality of first through holes 8 penetrating in the front-rear direction are formed in the lower end of the front portion 5a of the upper part 5 (i.e., the third portion). A plurality of second through holes 9 penetrating in the front-rear direction are formed in the upper end of the base 6a of the lower part 6. Note that although the first through holes 8 and second through holes 9 in this embodiment both extend in the front-rear direction (i.e., the horizontal direction), they may extend in a direction slightly inclined from the horizontal direction, in other words, they may extend in a direction other than the vertical direction.
In this embodiment, the first through holes 8 include four first through holes 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d, and the second through holes 9 include four second through holes 9a, 9b, 9c, and 9d. In this embodiment, the number of the first through holes 8 and the number of the second through holes 9 are four, but this is not limited to four, and the number may be two, three, or five or more. The first through holes 8 and the second through holes 9 correspond to each other. That is, the first through hole 8a and the second through hole 9a correspond to each other, the first through hole 8b and the second through hole 9b correspond to each other, the first through hole 8c and the second through hole 9c correspond to each other, and the first through hole 8d and the second through hole 9d correspond to each other. "Corresponding" means that the pin member 11 can be inserted into the corresponding first through hole 8 and second through hole 9.
In this embodiment, a pin member 11 is inserted and engaged into the first through hole 8c and the second through hole 9c. The pin member 11 has a shaft portion 11a extending in the front-to-rear direction, a head portion 11b provided at the front end of the shaft portion 11a, and two engagement claws 11c provided at the rear end of the shaft portion 11a and whose spacing can be elastically changed. The head portion 11b is engaged with the front surface of the base portion 6a, and the two engagement claws 11c are engaged with the rear surface of the lower end portion of the front portion 5a. By engaging the pin member 11, the upper part 5 and the lower part 6 are connected to each other, and the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6 is determined. In this embodiment, the outer diameter of the shaft portion 11a of the pin member 11 is approximately the same as the inner diameter of the first through hole 8 and the second through hole 9, but the outer diameter of the shaft portion 11a may be smaller than the inner diameter of the first through hole 8 and the second through hole 9 as long as no problems arise in terms of positioning accuracy.
In this embodiment, a pin member 11 having a locking claw 11c is used, but this is not limited thereto. Instead of the pin member 11, a fastening member consisting of a bolt and a nut may be used, or one of the first through hole 8 and the second through hole 9 may be configured as a female threaded hole into which a male screw is screwed.
12(a), the multiple first through holes 8 formed in the upper part 5 are arranged in a direction slightly inclined from the width direction (i.e., the horizontal direction). That is, the first through hole 8a is located above the first through hole 8b in the vertical direction, the first through hole 8b is located above the first through hole 8c in the vertical direction, and the first through hole 8c is located above the first through hole 8d in the vertical direction. In this embodiment, among the multiple first through holes 8, two adjacent first through holes 8 are arranged at a certain distance in the vertical direction. That is, the vertical distance h1 between the first through hole 8a and the first through hole 8b, the vertical distance h2 between the first through hole 8b and the first through hole 8c, and the vertical distance h3 between the first through hole 8c and the first through hole 8d are equal to each other. The values of the distances h1, h2, and h3 are, for example, 0.5 mm, but may be other values. In this embodiment, the values of distances h1, h2, and h3 are equal, but may be different from each other.
12(b), the second through holes 9 formed in the lower part 6 are arranged in the width direction (i.e., horizontal direction). That is, the vertical positions of the second through holes 9a, 9b, 9c, and 9d are constant. Therefore, the vertical distance between two adjacent first through holes 8 among the first through holes 8 is different from the vertical distance between two adjacent second through holes 9 among the second through holes 9 corresponding to the two first through holes 8. However, this is not limited to such a configuration, and the second through holes 9 may also be arranged in a direction slightly inclined from the width direction (i.e., horizontal direction) like the first through holes 8, but even in this case, the inclination angle of the arrangement needs to be different from the inclination angle of the arrangement of the first through holes 8. That is, the vertical distance between two adjacent first through holes 8 among the first through holes 8 may be different from the vertical distance between two adjacent second through holes 9 among the second through holes 9 corresponding to the two first through holes 8.
The widthwise positions of the first through holes 8a, 8b, 8c, and 8d are the same as the widthwise positions of the second through holes 9a, 9b, 9c, and 9d.
In this configuration, when the pin member 11 is inserted and engaged into one of the first through holes 8 and one of the second through holes 9, the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6 can be determined. For example, when the pin member 11 is inserted into the first through hole 8a and the second through hole 9a, the upper part 5 can be positioned lower relative to the lower part 6 compared to when the pin member 11 is inserted into the first through hole 8b and the second through hole 9b. In other words, by selecting one of the first through holes 8 among the multiple first through holes 8, selecting one of the second through holes 9 among the multiple second through holes 9, and inserting the pin member 11 into the selected one of the first through holes 8 and one of the second through holes 9, the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6 can be adjusted and determined.
In this embodiment, similar to the first embodiment, the upper part 5 may have a temporary holding opening 5a2, and the lower part 6 may have a temporary holding claw portion 6b and a support wall 6c.
Next, a method for designing the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment will be described. In the description of the design method, the description of the same steps as those in the first embodiment will be omitted or simplified.
First, similarly to the first embodiment, the shape tentative determination step S1 and the positional relationship confirmation step S2 are carried out.
Next, based on the confirmation result of the positional relationship confirmation process S2, one first through hole 8 is selected from the multiple first through holes 8 for inserting the pin member 11, and one second through hole 9 is selected from the multiple second through holes 9 (height adjustment process S3). That is, one first through hole 8 and one second through hole 9 are selected so that the upper garnish 102 is positioned at an appropriate upper position relative to the headlight 101. In selecting the first through hole 8 and the second through hole 9, the pin member 11 may be provisionally inserted into these through holes, or a rod member having an outer diameter equivalent to the shaft portion 11a of the pin member 11 may be inserted into these through holes to select the appropriate through hole.
Next, the pin member 11 is inserted into one of the selected first through holes 8 and one of the selected second through holes 9 and engaged (determination step S4). This determines the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6, and the upper garnish 102 supported by the upper part 5 is positioned at an appropriate upper position relative to the headlight 101.
At this point, the design method of the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment is completed, but in the radiator grille 1 of this embodiment, the pin member 11 is not inserted into the unselected first through hole 8 and second through hole 9, and they are not used. Since the first decoration part 3 and the second decoration part 4 are provided in front of the first through hole 8 and second through hole 9, the first through hole 8 and second through hole 9 cannot be seen from the outside of the vehicle 100, and the unselected first through hole 8 and second through hole 9 may remain in the radiator grille 1 during mass production. On the other hand, by performing the height adjustment process S3 and the determination process S4, it becomes clear which first through hole 8 and second through hole 9 are unselected, so the injection molding mold may be modified to eliminate the unselected first through hole 8 and second through hole 9. In other words, the protrusions of the mold protruding into the cavity to form the unselected through holes may be removed by grinding.
The radiator grille 1 (vehicle grille) of this embodiment supports an upper garnish 102 (second exterior part) located above a headlight 101 (first exterior part) and comprises a lower part 6 fixed to an external part 103, an upper part 5 to which the upper garnish 102 is fixed and at least a portion of which is located above the lower part 6 and fastened to the lower part 6, and a height determining part 10 which determines the vertical position of the upper part 5 relative to the lower part 6.
The height defining portion 10 includes a plurality of first through holes 8 formed in either the lower part 6 or the upper part 5, a plurality of second through holes 9 formed in the other of the lower part 6 or the upper part 5 corresponding to the plurality of first through holes 8, and a pin member 11 inserted into and engaged with one of the plurality of first through holes 8 and one of the plurality of second through holes 9. The vertical distance between two adjacent first through holes 8 of the plurality of first through holes 8 is different from the vertical distance between two adjacent second through holes 9 of the plurality of second through holes 9 corresponding to the two first through holes 8.
Among the plurality of first through holes 8, two adjacent first through holes 8 may be disposed at a fixed distance in the vertical direction, and the positions of the plurality of second through holes 9 in the vertical direction may be constant.
A plurality of height defining portions 10 may be provided and arranged in the width direction of the vehicle 100 .
