Description

Can Lids
The present invention relates to an easily openable, full-opening can lid.
A conventional easy-open full-opening can lid is disclosed in, for example, Patent Document 1. That is, the can lid includes a can lid body on which a full-opening score is engraved, and a tab fixed to the can lid body via a rivet for breaking the full-opening score, and is provided with a tip-up that deforms the finger hook of the tab upward and is set at a higher position than the tab body with respect to the outer surface of the can lid body. Meanwhile, the can lid body is provided with an upper convex panel portion (embossed portion) that can accommodate the finger hook of the tab of a lower can lid when the can lids are stacked, improving stackability.
In addition, a recess is provided on the surface of the can lid body facing the finger hook, which further increases the gap between the finger hook and the can lid body, improving the finger grip.
However, in the case of the conventional technology described above, although a recess is provided below the finger hook to improve grip, the recess is wide, and when placing the finger on the finger hook, the finger can be placed anywhere on the finger hook, not just in the center. As a result, the direction of force applied changes depending on the position of the finger, and the force is not effectively applied to the tip of the tab, which can lead to failure in the opening operation.
In response to this, it has been proposed to limit the area of the recess to an area between the finger hook portion and an outer peripheral wall portion formed on the periphery of the upper protruding panel portion, the outer peripheral wall portion facing the finger hook portion.
Although forming the recess locally in this way is expected to have the effect of guiding the fingertip to the finger hook, since the finger hook is formed in a convex shape toward the recess in a plan view, even if the finger is hooked in the center of the finger hook, the contact position of the finger still does not stay in the center and shifts to the left or right. In particular, since the shape of the finger hook is a convex shape in a plan view, the contact area with the fingertip is small, which causes pain in the fingertip and makes it easy for the contact position to shift.
In addition, if a tip-up is applied to the finger grip, there is a risk that the bottom rim or seam of the can will slip in and cause the lid to open unexpectedly, so measures are usually taken to provide a guard dimple next to the tab. However, in Patent Document 1, the upper convex panel portion is formed close to the side of the tab, so a guard dimple cannot be formed.
The object of the present invention is to provide a can lid for full opening that is shaped to easily guide the fingertip to the center of the finger grip of the tab during initial opening, making the opening operation even easier.
In order to achieve the above object, the present invention provides
The can has a can lid body provided with a score for full opening, and a tab fixed to the can lid body via a rivet portion for breaking the score,
the tab includes a tab tip portion located near the score and a finger hook portion located on the center side of the can lid, the height of the finger hook portion from the can lid main body being set higher than the height of the tab main body from the can lid main body,
The can lid body is provided with an upper convex panel portion having a convex outer surface and a concave inner surface that can accommodate a finger hook portion of a tab of a lower can lid when the can lids are stacked,
In an easily openable can lid, the upper protruding panel portion is provided at least in an area opposite to the tab with respect to the center of the can lid,
a recess into which a fingertip is inserted during an initial breaking operation is provided in a region between a first outer peripheral wall portion that faces the finger hook portion and the finger hook portion, of an outer peripheral wall formed on a periphery of the upper protruding panel portion;
The finger grip portion is characterized in that, in a plan view, it has a concave shape toward the rivet portion and its central portion is higher than both ends.
In this way, the fingertip is guided from the first outer peripheral wall of the upper convex panel portion through the recess to approximately the center of the finger hook portion, and the guided fingertip is further accommodated in the center of the finger hook portion due to the shape of the recess. If the tab is then raised, it can be raised along the center line connecting the center of the can lid and the rivet portion, and force can be efficiently applied to the tip of the tab.
In addition, the contact area between the fingertip and the finger grip portion is increased, dispersing the force acting on the fingertip.
Furthermore, because the finger grip is concave, it is difficult for the bottom rim or seaming part of the can to slip in, making it possible to prevent accidental opening without providing a guard dimple. This allows for a simplification of the tool configuration.
The present invention can also be configured as follows.
1. Within the inner peripheral wall of the embossed recess, a second inclined surface on the finger hook side extends linearly in a direction perpendicular to a first center line connecting the rivet portion and the center of the can lid, and a predetermined gap is formed between the upper edge of the second inclined surface and the finger hook.
In this way, a space is created between the fingertip in the recess and the finger grip portion by the amount of the gap, making the opening operation even easier.
2. The outer peripheral wall of the upper convex panel portion has a second outer peripheral wall portion that extends along a chuck wall portion provided on the periphery of the can lid body at a predetermined interval from the chuck wall, and a rising angle of the second outer peripheral wall portion from the can lid body is smaller than a rising angle of the first outer peripheral wall portion from the can lid body.
After the initial opening, the tab is changed and pulled up, and the score is continuously sheared (score tearing), but in the present invention, the rise angle of the first outer peripheral wall part on the tab side of the upper surface convex panel part is relatively large to increase the rigidity of the center part, so that the shear stress can be concentrated on the score and the shearing can proceed smoothly. On the other hand, after the shearing has progressed to about half a circumference, the rise angle of the second outer peripheral wall part is small, so that the peripheral part is appropriately deformed and the shearing can proceed smoothly.
This invention makes it easier to guide your fingertip to the center of the tab's finger grip during initial opening, making the opening operation even easier.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail based on the illustrated embodiments.
First, the overall structure of a can lid according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to Fig. 1. Fig. 1(A) is a plan view showing the overall structure of the can lid, and Fig. 1(B) is a central vertical cross-sectional view taken along a first center line of (A).
The can lid 1 comprises a can lid body 2 provided with a score 6 for full opening, and a tab 10 fixed to the can lid body 2 via a rivet 7 for breaking the score 6. The tab 10 comprises a tab tip 12 located near the score 6 and a finger hook 20 located on the center side of the can lid, and the height of the finger hook 20 from the can lid body 2 is set higher than the height of the tab body 11 from the can lid body 2.
The can lid body 2 is provided with an upper convex panel portion 32 that has a convex outer surface and a concave inner surface that can accommodate the finger hook portion 20 of the tab 10 of the lower can lid 1 when the can lids 1 are stacked. The upper convex panel portion 32 is provided in at least the area opposite the tab 10 with respect to the panel center O1, which is the center of the can lids.
An embossed recess 40 into which a fingertip fits during the initial breaking operation is provided in the area between the finger hook portion 20 and a first outer wall portion 35 facing the finger hook portion 20 of the outer wall 34 formed on the periphery of the upper convex panel portion 32, and the finger hook portion 20 has a concave shape toward the rivet portion 7 in a plan view, with the central portion being higher than both ends.
Within the inner surface of the embossed recess 40, a first inclined surface 41 on the side of the finger hook portion 20 extends in a straight line perpendicular to a first center line N1 connecting the rivet portion 7 and the panel center (can lid center) O1, and a predetermined gap h is formed between the upper edge of the first inclined surface 41 and the finger hook portion 20.
The outer peripheral wall 34 of the upper convex panel portion 32 has a second outer peripheral wall portion 36 that extends along the chuck wall 4 provided on the periphery of the can lid body 2 at a predetermined distance from the chuck wall 4, and the rise angle θ2 of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 from the can lid body 2 is smaller than the rise angle θ1 of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 from the can lid body 2.
The configuration of each part will be explained in detail below. In the following explanation, in the plan view of Figure 1(A), the line passing through the panel center O1 and the center O7 of the rivet portion 7 will be referred to as the first center line N1, and the line passing through the panel center O1 and perpendicular to the first center line N1 will be referred to as the second center line N2.
The can lid body 2 has a circular center panel 3 constituting a panel, a chuck wall 4 rising from the peripheral edge of the center panel 3, and a seaming panel 5 formed continuously with the chuck wall 4.
The center panel 3 is disk-shaped, and the scores 6 are provided continuously around the entire periphery of the center panel 3, and when opening the package, the circular intended opening portion 3a surrounded by the scores 6 is removed together with the tab 10. Auxiliary scores 8 are provided near the rivet portions 7 to facilitate bending of the panel during initial opening.
The upper convex panel portion 32 is formed mainly in the area opposite the tab 10 with respect to the second center line N2, and a part of it extends into the area opposite the tab 10. The upper convex panel portion 32 is an embossed portion with a convex upper surface and a concave lower surface, and the upper surface is a convex panel surface 33 which is flat, and an outer peripheral wall 34 of the peripheral portion rises at an angle relative to the main panel surface 31 of the center panel 3, forming a step portion between the main panel surface 31 and the upper panel surface 31.
The outer peripheral wall 34 of the upper convex panel portion 32 comprises a first outer peripheral wall portion 35 that faces the finger hook portion 20 described above, a semicircular second outer peripheral wall portion 36 that extends along the chuck wall 4 provided on the periphery of the can lid body 2 at a predetermined distance from the chuck wall 4, and a third outer peripheral wall portion 37 that connects both ends of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 and both ends of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36.
The first outer peripheral wall portion 35 protrudes in an arc shape into the area opposite the tab 10 with respect to the second center line N2, and is recessed in an arc shape toward the tab. The second outer peripheral wall portion 36 is formed in the area opposite the tab with respect to the second center line N2. The third outer peripheral wall portions 37, 37 protrude in an arc shape beyond the second center line N2 into the area on the tab side, and are symmetrical with respect to the first center line N1.
The second outer peripheral wall portion 36 has a rise angle θ2 from the main panel surface 31 that is smaller than the rise angle θ1 from the can lid main body 2 of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35. The third outer peripheral wall portions 37, 37 have a gradually changing rise angle from the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 toward the second outer peripheral wall portion 36. The rise angle θ1 of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 is set to about 17° to 27°, preferably 22.2°, and the rise angle of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 is set to about 8° to 18°, preferably 13.7°. In the illustrated example, when comparing the width of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 and the width of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 when viewed in plan, the width of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 is set to about twice the width of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35.
Furthermore, if the radius of curvature R of the third outer peripheral wall portion 37 is too large, it becomes close to a straight line and bends at the initial stage of the score tear, and the force of the bending may cause the hand holding the can body to shake and the contents to spill out. Also, if the radius of curvature is small, the finger grip portion 20 may get caught. As a result of careful consideration, it is preferable that the radius of curvature R is R5 to 14.5 at the bottom edge of the main panel surface side of the third outer peripheral wall portion 37. It is suitable for can lids with a panel diameter of a minimum of 215 mm to a maximum of 307 mm.
By configuring it in this way, the rigidity of the upper convex panel portion 32 changes, and the rigidity of the peripheral portion where the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 is formed becomes smaller than the rigidity of the central portion where the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 is formed. In addition, by reducing the rise angle of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36, the amount of material that moves toward the upper convex panel portion 32 when processing the upper convex panel portion 32 is reduced, and the amount of shrinkage of the diameter of the chuck wall 4 can be reduced.
The tab 10 is a plate-like member having an egg-shaped outline that is linearly symmetrical with respect to the first center line N1, with the tab body 11 fixed to the main panel surface 31 of the center panel 3 of the can lid body 2, and the tab tip 12, which is the end on the small diameter side of the tab body 11, being located near the score 6. In addition, a finger hook 20 is provided on the rear end, which is the end on the large diameter side opposite the tab tip 12 with respect to the rivet portion 7, to hook a finger onto during initial opening.
The rivet portion 7 is located near the tab tip portion 12 on the main panel surface 31 of the center panel 3, and the finger hook portion 20 is located near the panel center O1 of the center panel 3 and faces the first outer peripheral wall portion 35. The tab body 11 is provided with a finger hole 14 between the rivet portion 7 and the finger hook portion 20, into which a finger can be inserted.
Next, the shape of the finger hook portion 20 will be described in detail with reference to FIG.
2(A) is a partially enlarged plan view of the tab in FIG. 1, FIG. 2(B) is a cross-sectional view taken along a first center line in FIG. 2(A), and FIG. 2(C) is a side view of FIG. 2(B) as viewed from direction C.
In other words, as shown in FIG. 2(A), the finger hook portion 20 has a curved shape that is concavely curved toward the rivet portion 7 in a plan view seen from the tab body 11 side perpendicular to the center panel 3.
As shown in FIG. 2(B), the cross-sectional shape of the finger hook portion 20 is an arcuate cross section that makes an arcuate U-turn from the top surface to the back surface, and the contour line L of the finger hook portion 20 in a plan view is the shape of the protruding end where the arcuate cross section protrudes most on the side opposite the rivet portion 7. The finger hook portion 20 is an area that is centered on the arcuate cross-sectional area that includes the contour line L of the rear end of the tab 10 and where the finger comes into contact when the tab 10 is pulled up during initial opening, and also includes the panel facing surface 20c that faces the tab facing portion 31a, which is part of the main panel surface 31.
The ends 20b, 20b perpendicular to the first center line N1 are in contact with the orthogonal line V1 perpendicular to the first center line N1, and the center portion 20a extends into the rivet portion 7 from the orthogonal line V1 by a predetermined gap (recess dimension) h.
Next, the side shape of the finger hook portion 20 will be described with reference to FIG.
This side view is a projection of finger hook portion 20 in a direction parallel to main panel surface 31 and upper convex panel portion 32 of center panel 3, and viewed from the finger hook portion 20 toward rivet portion 7, in a direction where central portion 20a of finger hook portion 20 overlaps with center O7 of rivet portion 7, i.e., in a direction along first center line N1. In this side view, finger hook portion 20 is curved in a convex shape with respect to center panel 3 such that central portion 20a is higher than both end portions 20b, 20b.
If the convex shape of the finger hook portion 20 is explained as the shape of the contour line L in the plan view, the contour line L appears at approximately the center of the finger hook portion 20 in a side view, as shown by the two-dot chain line, and the shape of the contour line L is curved in a convex shape toward the center panel 3. The inclination angle of this curved shape with respect to the center panel 3 (the angle between the tangent of the contour line and the center panel) is greatest at both ends 20b, 20b, and gradually decreases toward the center portion 20a, forming an arch shape that curves so as to be approximately horizontal at the center portion 20a.
Next, the panel-facing surface 20c of the finger hook portion 20 will be described.
As shown in FIG. 2(B), the panel facing surface 20c of the finger hook portion 20 that faces the tab facing portion 31a of the center panel 3 is an inclined surface that slopes in a direction such that the gap between the finger hook portion 20 and the tab facing portion 31a gradually narrows from the finger hook portion 20 toward the rivet portion 7.
The embossed recess 40 has a D-shaped bottom surface 43 and an inner peripheral wall 44 surrounding the bottom surface 43, the inner peripheral wall 44 inclining in a direction gradually increasing in diameter from the bottom surface 43, and the peripheral edge on the main panel surface side has a D-shape that is slightly larger than the bottom surface 43.
The side edge of the bottom surface 43 on the tab side is linear and perpendicular to the first center line N1, and the side edge opposite the tab 10 is arc-shaped. The inner peripheral wall 44 has a first inclined surface 41 on the tab 10 side and a second inclined surface 42 opposite the tab 10, and the upper edge of the first inclined surface 41 on the main panel surface side is linear and perpendicular to the first center line N1, and the upper edge of the second inclined surface 42 is arc-shaped.
The upper edge of the second inclined surface 42 is adjacent to the base of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 of the upper convex panel portion 32, and the second inclined surface 42 of the embossed recess 40 and the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 of the upper convex panel portion 32 are substantially continuous. The inclination angle of the second inclined surface 42 is substantially the same as the rise angle of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 of the upper convex panel portion 32.
Next, the operation of the present invention will be described.
When opening the can lid, as shown in FIG. 3(A), while placing a fingertip on the finger hook portion 20 of the tab 10, the fingertip is inserted into the gap between the tab 10 and the tab facing portion 31a, and the tab is pulled upward using the rivet portion 7 as a fulcrum, whereby the tab tip 12 partially initially opens the score 6 (breaks the score) by using the leverage.
In the initial stage of the opening operation, the fingertip is guided from the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 of the upper convex panel portion 32 through the embossed recess 40 to approximately the center of the finger hook portion 20, and the fingertip is further guided to the center of the finger hook portion 20 due to the concave shape of the finger hook portion 20. If the tab 10 is then raised in this state, it can be raised along the first center line N1, and force can be efficiently applied to the tab tip portion 12.
In addition, a large reaction force acts on the fingertip from the finger hook 20, but the finger hook 20 curves concavely toward the rivet section 7 and contacts along the shape of the fingertip, increasing the contact area and dispersing the reaction force acting on the finger, reducing the pressure and feeling of oppression on the fingertip, improving the fit of the fingertip, and making the initial opening operation easier.
In particular, the finger hook portion 20 has a central portion 20a that is curved convexly toward the tab facing portion 31a, the finger hook portion 20 has an arch shape, and the panel facing surface 20c with the tab facing portion 31a is an inclined surface such that the gap gradually decreases toward the rivet portion 7. This allows the pad of the finger to be placed against the panel facing surface 20c of the finger hook portion 20, making it easy, reliable, and effortless to raise the tab 10 during initial opening.
In addition, a predetermined gap h is formed between the upper edge of the first inclined surface 41 of the embossed recess 40 and the finger hook portion 20, so that the gap provides a space between the fingertip and the finger hook portion 20 when the fingertip is in the embossed recess 40, making the opening operation even easier. That is, the fingertip is guided by the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 of the upper convex panel portion 32 and the embossed recess 40 to hook onto the finger hook portion 20, and the tab 10 is pulled up by applying force, but the tip of the finger abuts against the first inclined surface 41 of the embossed recess 40, and the pad of the fingertip abuts against the finger hook portion 20. Providing a gap increases the distance between the first inclined surface 41 of the embossed recess 40 and the finger hook portion 20, providing a space for the pad of the fingertip when the tip of the finger abuts, making the operation easier.
Next, the tab 10 is grasped with the thumb and index finger and raised to about 90 degrees (see FIG. 3(B)). After the initial opening, although not shown, a finger is firmly inserted into the finger hole 14 of the tab 10 and the tab 10 is lifted upward, whereby the score 6 is continuously sheared from the initial opening B (score tear), and the opening portion surrounded by the score 6 is removed to open the entire surface.
In the present invention, the rise angle θ1 of the first outer peripheral wall portion 35 on the tab side of the upper convex panel portion 32 is relatively large to increase the rigidity of the central portion, so that the shear stress can be concentrated on the score and the shearing can proceed smoothly. On the other hand, after the shearing has progressed to about half a circumference, the rise angle θ2 of the second outer peripheral wall portion 36 is small, so that the peripheral portion deforms appropriately and the shearing can proceed smoothly. In other words, if the latter half of the score tear is opened all at once while the panel remains in a flat shape, the momentum may cause the hands holding the can body to shake, causing the contents to spill. By reducing the inclination angle and decreasing the rigidity, it is possible to cause some deformation and reduce the momentum.
Next, a case where can lids are stacked will be described.
When the can lids 1 are stacked, the outer periphery of the chuck wall 4 of the upper can lid is fitted into the inner periphery of the chuck wall 4 of the lower can lid 1 to center them. The can lids 1 rotate relative to each other during transportation, and as shown in Fig. 4, the finger hook portion 20 protruding from the outer surface of the lower can lid 1 fits into the recess 32a formed on the inner surface of the upper protruding panel portion 32 provided on the upper can lid 1. After the finger hook portion 20 fits into the recess 32a, rattling between the can lids is restricted and the row of can lids is transported in a stable state, eliminating problems such as scratches caused by the finger hook portion 20 and deformation due to tilting, and enabling high-speed production.
In particular, in this embodiment, the rear end of the central part of the finger hook portion 20 is inclined upward at a predetermined angle, so that the finger hook portion 20 of the lower can lid comes into point contact with the back surface of the upper can lid, and the contact resistance with the back surface of the upper can lid 1 is small, allowing it to slide smoothly and be stored in the recess on the back surface of the upper convex panel portion 32.
Furthermore, when can lids are stacked one above the other, or when cans are stacked one above the other, even if the edge of the upper can lid or the bottom of the upper can hits finger hook portion 20, central portion 20a, where the gap with tab opposing portion 31a is largest, is located farther toward rivet portion 7, so that central portion 20a is less likely to get caught, thereby preventing accidental opening.
In the above embodiment, the panel surface is curved in an arch shape when viewed from the side, but the shape is not limited to an arch shape and may be other shapes such as a trapezoid.
Furthermore, regarding the tip-up shape, in the above embodiment, the panel facing surface 20c of the finger hook portion 20 is an inclined surface in which the distance from the tab facing portion 31a gradually narrows toward the rivet portion 7, but it does not have to be an inclined surface.
Furthermore, the container to which the can lid of the present invention is applied is not limited to positive pressure cans and negative pressure cans, but can be applied to various other containers.
