Definitions
- the invention relates to an article with an elastomeric base body based on at least one rubber mixture with an article surface that is susceptible to noise and wear and is provided with a textile covering.
- An article that is exposed to dynamic loads and thus wear and noise is, for example, a band, belt, strap, hose, air bellows, compensator or a multi-layer fabric, with the belt in the form of a drive belt being of particular importance.
- the elastomeric base body of the drive belt includes a cover layer as the back of the belt and a substructure with a power transmission zone.
- Items with an elastic base body are provided with a textile layer on the surface to adjust the product properties.
- this also includes improved power transmission. Problems arise when these items are to or have to be used in a damp environment. Then it is currently no longer possible to meet the requirements for all required physical properties to the same extent.
- the object of the present invention is to provide an article with an elastomeric base body which has at least one textile layer on at least one surface of the article and whose physical properties remain at a good level even in moisture or in a humid environment.
- the material for the textile overlay is also based entirely or partially on sustainable and/or renewable raw materials.
- the task is solved in that the textile cover of the elastomeric article contains fibers made of Lyocell or consists entirely of fibers made of Lyocell.
- Lyocell makes an important contribution to the topic of sustainability.
- Lyocell is a cellulose fiber made from regenerated cellulose, which is produced using the lyocell process (direct solvent process). The solvent used in the manufacturing process can be almost completely recovered. This is accompanied by a drastic reduction in environmentally harmful waste materials compared to conventional cellulosic chemical fibers (such as viscose). It is made predominantly from wood from sustainable forestry and is biodegradable.
- the structure of the lyocell fibers differs from the structure of viscose. Special features include long crystallites, reduced clustering and elongated cavities. There are also differences in the fiber structure. Lyocell fibers consist of fibrils of equal thickness distributed across the cross section.
- the lyocell fibers can be designed as staple fibers or as filament fibers.
- the textile cover consists entirely of lyocell fibers, ie the proportion of lyocell fibers is 100% by weight.
- the textile covering may contain Lyocell fibers, preferably in amounts of 20 to 95% by weight.
- the textile cover which consists of Lyocell fibers or contains Lyocell fibers, is preferably designed as a knitted fabric. If the textile covering consists of Lyocell fibers, the basis weight is preferably between 70 g/m 2 and 350 g/m 2 and very particularly preferably between 100 g/m 2 and 250 g/m 2 .
- the textile covering contains lyocell fibers
- at least one further material can be included in amounts of 5% by weight to 80% by weight.
- Lyocell fibers are used in combination with at least one other material, this is referred to as a hybrid system or hybrid fiber construction.
- materials for the at least one further material of the textile cover are preferably selected from the group consisting of: polyethylene (PE), such as. E.g. UHMWPE, LDPE, LLDPE, or polyamide (PA), e.g. PA5.6, PA4.10, PA6, PA6.6, PA11, PA12, PA6.10, PA6.12, or copolyamides or polyester (PES) or rayon or polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polyethylene naphthalate (PEN) or
- PVAL polyvinyl alcohol
- PEEK poly
- the materials mentioned can also be used in recycled form, ie as recovered material.
- the textile cover can be designed as felt, fleece, fabric, braid, knitted or knitted fabric, scrim. If the elastomeric article is a drive belt, the textile cover is preferably designed as a woven or knitted fabric.
- Rubbers known to those skilled in the art can be used individually or in combination as the rubber mixture for the rubber mixture of the base body. Rubbers are often also referred to as elastomers, so both terms are used synonymously in this document.
- the rubber is preferably selected from the group consisting of ethylene-propylene copolymer (EPM) and/or ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer (EPDM) and/or nitrile rubber (NBR) and/or (partially) hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR).
- EPM ethylene-propylene copolymer
- EPDM ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer
- NBR nitrile rubber
- HNBR hydrogenated nitrile rubber
- FKM fluorine rubber
- CR chloroprene rubber
- NR natural rubber
- SBR styrene-butadiene rubber
- IR isoprene rubber
- IR butyl rubber
- BIIR bromobutyl rubber
- CIIR chlorobutyl rubber
- BR butadiene rubber
- CM chlorinated polyethylene
- ECO polyepichlorohydrin
- EVA ethylene vinyl acetate rubber
- ACM / or acrylate rubber
- AEM ethylene acrylate rubber
- MQ, VMQ, PVMQ, FVMQ fluorinated methyl silicone rubber
- FFPM perfluorinated propylene rubber
- FFKM perfluorocarbon rubber
- EPDM EPDM
- EPM EPM
- NBR NBR
- HNBR HNBR
- the rubber mixture may contain at least one thermoplastic elastomer and/or at least one thermoplastic, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), in amounts of 0 to 50 phr, preferably in amounts of 1 to 50 phr.
- thermoplastic elastomer such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
- PVC polyvinyl chloride
- Other mixing ingredients are usually crosslinking agents, such as sulfur, sulfur donors or peroxides, fillers, such as carbon black and/or silica, processing aids, plasticizers, anti-aging agents and, if necessary, other additives (e.g. color pigments).
- crosslinking agents such as sulfur, sulfur donors or peroxides
- fillers such as carbon black and/or silica
- processing aids such as carbon black and/or silica
- plasticizers such as carbon black and/or silica
- anti-aging agents such as sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate,
- the elastomeric article can contain at least one further embedded reinforcement.
- Embedded means that the reinforcement is not on the surface.
- the embedded reinforcement can be in the form of a cord, felt, fleece, fabric, braid, knitted fabric, knitted fabric or scrim.
- the embedded reinforcement is preferably in the form of a cord, i.e. it is designed in a so-called cord construction.
- a drive belt was manufactured and provided with a corresponding textile cover.
- the textile covers consist of the material specified in the respective table.
- the physical properties that are particularly important for a textile cover of a drive belt that transmits torque through adhesion are, among other things, the amount of slip that occurs during power transmission or the coefficient of friction of the surface provided with the textile cover. This also includes parameters such as the misalignment of individual strands or load absorption on a drive pulley, which can be used to determine the condition in which undesirable noises caused by the contact surface of the belt with the pulley occur. Since the object of the present invention is to improve the wet properties of an article, the results of the physical investigations under conditions of high ambient humidity are presented.
- the physical investigations include the determination of the coefficient of friction (CoF) under moisture in accordance with SAE standard J2432, the measurements to evaluate the noise behavior and the slip behavior.
- CoF coefficient of friction
- the noise behavior is measured in three sections. What these have in common is that a belt is driven via a drive pulley at a speed n, which has a rotational irregularity of 10%.
- a disk A is moved to a disk B continuously by a maximum of 5 mm (corresponding to 2.86° of misalignment of the strand between A and B) and the angle at which specific noises caused by the misalignment occur at the inlet into disk B is determined. In this measurement there is no power transmission in the belt drive.
- a wet measurement is carried out using power output from a generator, which is adjusted in steps of 10 A between a minimum of 30 A and a maximum of 120 A based on the current output.
- a generator which is adjusted in steps of 10 A between a minimum of 30 A and a maximum of 120 A based on the current output.
- water is injected into the strand in front of the generator disk.
- the power transmitted by a non-positive belt is determined via the resulting belt slip.
- the textile cover according to the invention made of a lyocell knitted fabric shows a visible improvement in the coefficient of friction (determined at 100% slip) under humid ambient conditions compared to a cotton and viscose knitted fabric of identical construction and similar basis weight. In this case, a higher coefficient of friction means higher power transmission capability.
- Table 2 Table 3
- a V-ribbed belt with a textile coating can transmit significantly more power with the same slip than a belt of comparable construction with a textile coating made of viscose or cotton.

Bsp.
