Definitions
- the present invention relates to an adhesive tape, in particular for covering elongated goods, as well as an elongated material wrapped with the adhesive tape according to the invention.
- Cable or wire bundles are usually bandaged for better handling and protection, for which adhesive tapes are used, especially in the automotive sector.
- Good abrasion resistance of the adhesive tape is particularly important here in order to ensure adequate protection of the cable bundle.
- abrasion resistance of adhesive tapes is divided into different classes according to LV 312-1 (2009):
- Adhesive tapes such as those used to wrap cable bundles usually have an abrasion class D or higher.
- Such adhesive tapes are used as cable wrapping tapes, for example under the trade names “tesa® 51026” or “Coroplast 837X”. They consist of a polyester fabric with a basis weight of 125 to 135 g/m 2 .
- these have the disadvantage that they are very stiff in the longitudinal direction, i.e. processing direction, due to the large number of thick warp threads of the fabric used, which in turn means that the ends of the adhesive tape tend to stick out after a while, a phenomenon known as Flagging or flagging is called. This tendency can be reduced by a high adhesive strength of the adhesive tape.
- this requires the application of a large amount of adhesive, which is also seen as disadvantageous in the context of the sustainability discussion.
- EP 1 236 822 A1 describes a protective tube for cables, lines and the like, which is produced with a warp knitting machine, the protective tube having at least two different types of yarn with a first yarn with a single thread and a second multi-thread yarn, the yarns are woven together using tricot, lining and chain stitches.
- WO 2005/085379 A1 proposes a highly abrasion-resistant and noise-damping tape for bandaging cable harnesses, especially in automobiles, made of a carrier with a first cover layer which is firmly connected to a second layer over the entire surface of the cover layer, the cover layer being made of a velor, scrim, woven or knitted fabric, in particular a PET filament fabric or a polyamide fabric, the layer consists of a porous fabric such as a textile with an open but stable three-dimensional structure, made of a foam or a foamed film.
- EP 1 063 747 A1 relates to a protective covering for elongated flexible objects, in particular cables, with a multi-layer structure made of at least two nonwovens connected to one another.
- WO 90/14455 A1 discloses a textile tube for bundling elongated substrates, which has a plurality of interwoven first and second yarns, the first yarn being a voluminous continuous thread and the second yarn being a single thread made of an engineering plastic material, characterized in that the Single thread has a diameter of about 0.18 to about 0.3 mm and a tensile modulus of at least 690 mPa, and that the two yarns in the tube are present in the ratio of one warp thread of the bulky thread to three warp threads of the monofilament.
- WO 2017/127780 A1 relates to a hose with a flexible wall made of braided threads, at least some of the threads being present as a plurality of monofilaments and at least some of the threads being present as a plurality of multifilaments.
- the plurality of multifilaments are braided into a plurality of separate bundles DS containing at least two multifilaments.
- the monofilaments are embedded into the multifilaments during the braiding process to fix the multifilaments in a "braided" position and to prevent the multifilaments from slipping during application and use. This is intended to increase the abrasion resistance of the hose wall.
- EP 0 742 626 A1 describes a flexible sound-absorbing hose with at least first yarns and second yarns intertwined with one another, the first yarns being formed from a plastic material and the second yarns being formed from a bulky material, characterized in that the first yarns are made from a plastic material have a diameter between approximately 0.5 and 0.7 mm, the ratio between the number of first yarns and the number of second yarns forming the tube being between 1 to 4 and 1 to 6.
- EP 2 298 845 A1 discloses an adhesive tape consisting of a carrier and an adhesive layer applied to at least one side, the carrier being a fabric, in particular a polyester fabric.
- the adhesive tape is characterized in that the quotient of the titer of the transverse threads based on the length and the titer of the longitudinal threads based on the width is between 2.2 and 6 and the carrier has a basis weight of greater than or equal to 110 g/m 2 .
- WO 2019/120752 A1 relates to a covering for covering elongated material, in particular for producing a longitudinal covering for cables of automobiles, with a carrier and with at least two closure strips made of an adhesive arranged on an upper side and/or underside of the carrier, the closure strips running along respective longitudinal edges of the carrier and defining a free area between and/or next to them.
- the carrier is designed as a single layer and should have abrasion resistance of class D according to LV 312-1 (2009).
- fabric tubes made to suit the required diameter can also be used, with different types of yarn being used to produce a tape fabric, which is then formed into a tubular covering under the influence of heat.
- this type of covering however, the yarns can easily be moved against each other if a rubbing movement acts on the covering from the outside. Accordingly, only partial and direction-dependent protection can be achieved.
- a first object of the present invention is an adhesive tape comprising a textile carrier in the form of a fabric made of longitudinal and transverse threads woven together in a twill weave and at least one layer of adhesive applied to the textile carrier, the ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads being 1: 2 to 1:7.
- fabrics consist of warp threads (longitudinal direction, machine direction, also corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape made from them) and weft threads (transverse threads).
- the transverse titer of a fabric is the number of transverse threads (weft threads) per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the transverse threads in dtex.
- the unit is dtex/cm.
- the longitudinal titer is the number of longitudinal threads (warp threads) per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the longitudinal threads in dtex.
- the unit is also dtex/cm.
- the basis weight of the fabric is determined by the yarns used, their number and the type of weave.
- Characteristic of twill weave fabrics are the oblique, parallel lines, the so-called twill ridge, which are formed by a series of binding points, i.e. the crossing points of warp and weft threads.
- the fabric of the adhesive tape according to the invention is one in which the longitudinal and transverse threads form a twill grade which is selected from the group consisting of equal ridge, multi-ridge, wide ridge, steep ridge, flat ridge, pointed ridge and herringbone.
- the longitudinal and transverse threads are woven together in a cross-twill weave, since it has been shown here that this can advantageously eliminate tensions that arise in the fabric.
- the threads for producing the fabric carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention can consist of spun yarns or filament yarns (continuous yarns), with filament yarn usually being used. This consists of a fixed number of individual filaments and can be textured or smooth and point-solidified or unsolidified. The fabrics can be subsequently dyed or consist of spun-dyed yarns.
- the fabric supports used are particularly preferably made from PET multifilament yarns.
- (Chemical) fibers staple fiber or continuous filament are generally used as the starting materials for the backing material of the adhesive tape. These can consist of synthetic polymers, also called synthetic fibers, polyester (for example polyethylene terephthalate), polyamide, polyimide, aramid, polyolefin, polyacrylonitrile or glass.
- synthetic fibers also called synthetic fibers

- Yarns made from the specified fibers are also suitable.
- the abrasion resistance of the adhesive tape according to the invention can be improved by an inventive ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads in the fabric carrier.
- the ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads is 1:2.5 to 1:5, particularly preferably 1:3.
- the carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention is a fabric with a thread weight of the transverse threads of 220 to 700 dtex, preferably 300 to 550 dtex. Also preferred is an embodiment in which a fabric is used as the textile carrier, which has a thread weight of the longitudinal threads of 100 to 200 dtex, preferably 120 to 180 dtex. It has surprisingly been shown that by combining transverse and longitudinal threads with the thread weights according to the invention, woven in a twill weave, a particularly abrasion-resistant adhesive tape with a comparably low weight can be obtained.
- the carrier used is a fabric in which the quotient of the titer of the transverse threads based on the length of the textile carrier and the titer of the longitudinal threads related to the width of the textile carrier is 1.4 to 2.4, preferably 1.8 to 2.0, where the titer is the number of threads per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the threads.
- the advantage of the low weight of the adhesive tape according to the invention is further taken into account by preferably using a fabric as a carrier which has a basis weight of 70 to 420 g/m 2 , preferably 220 to 270 g/m 2 .
- the number of longitudinal threads in the carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention is preferably 30 to 60/cm, preferably 45 to 60/cm, particularly preferably 48 to 55/cm. Also preferred is an embodiment in which the number of transverse threads is 20 to 40/cm, preferably 25 to 30/cm.

- the adhesive tape according to the invention has one or more weakening lines which are arranged at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape. This makes it easier to tear the adhesive tape.

- the result is the shape of a helix (also called a screw, helix, cylindrical spiral or helix; helix is a curve that winds around the surface of a cylinder at a constant pitch).
- the elongated material is covered by the adhesive tape in the axial direction.
- the wrapping of a cable harness with the adhesive tape described is not done in a helical manner - as is usual - but in such a way that when wrapping, a longitudinal axis of the tape is aligned essentially parallel to the direction of travel of the cable harness. Seen in cross section, the adhesive tape lies around the cable harness in the form of an Archimedean spiral. This type of winding is also called “wrapping the wire harness”.

Description
Abriebfestes Klebeband mit einem textilen Träger Abrasion-resistant adhesive tape with a textile backing
The present invention relates to an adhesive tape, in particular for covering elongated goods, as well as an elongated material wrapped with the adhesive tape according to the invention.
Cable or wire bundles are usually bandaged for better handling and protection, for which adhesive tapes are used, especially in the automotive sector. Good abrasion resistance of the adhesive tape is particularly important here in order to ensure adequate protection of the cable bundle.
Die Abriebfestigkeit von Klebebändern wird LV 312-1 (2009) in verschiedene Klassen eingeteilt: The abrasion resistance of adhesive tapes is divided into different classes according to LV 312-1 (2009):
A: kein Abriebschutz b: geringer Abriebschutz A: no abrasion protection b: low abrasion protection
C: mittlerer Abriebschutz C: medium abrasion protection
D: hoher Abriebschutz D: high abrasion protection
E: sehr hoher Abriebschutz E: very high abrasion protection
F: extrem hoher Abriebschutz F: extremely high abrasion protection
Adhesive tapes such as those used to wrap cable bundles usually have an abrasion class D or higher. Such adhesive tapes are used as cable wrapping tapes, for example under the trade names “tesa® 51026” or “Coroplast 837X”. They consist of a polyester fabric with a basis weight of 125 to 135 g/m 2 . However, these have the disadvantage that they are very stiff in the longitudinal direction, i.e. processing direction, due to the large number of thick warp threads of the fabric used, which in turn means that the ends of the adhesive tape tend to stick out after a while, a phenomenon known as Flagging or flagging is called. This tendency can be reduced by a high adhesive strength of the adhesive tape. However, this requires the application of a large amount of adhesive, which is also seen as disadvantageous in the context of the sustainability discussion.
Alternative approaches and improvement options are suggested in the prior art.
For example, EP 1 236 822 A1 describes a protective tube for cables, lines and the like, which is produced with a warp knitting machine, the protective tube having at least two different types of yarn with a first yarn with a single thread and a second multi-thread yarn, the yarns are woven together using tricot, lining and chain stitches. WO 2005/085379 A1 proposes a highly abrasion-resistant and noise-damping tape for bandaging cable harnesses, especially in automobiles, made of a carrier with a first cover layer which is firmly connected to a second layer over the entire surface of the cover layer, the cover layer being made of a velor, scrim, woven or knitted fabric, in particular a PET filament fabric or a polyamide fabric, the layer consists of a porous fabric such as a textile with an open but stable three-dimensional structure, made of a foam or a foamed film.
EP 1 063 747 A1 relates to a protective covering for elongated flexible objects, in particular cables, with a multi-layer structure made of at least two nonwovens connected to one another.
WO 90/14455 A1 discloses a textile tube for bundling elongated substrates, which has a plurality of interwoven first and second yarns, the first yarn being a voluminous continuous thread and the second yarn being a single thread made of an engineering plastic material, characterized in that the Single thread has a diameter of about 0.18 to about 0.3 mm and a tensile modulus of at least 690 mPa, and that the two yarns in the tube are present in the ratio of one warp thread of the bulky thread to three warp threads of the monofilament.

WO 2017/127780 A1 relates to a hose with a flexible wall made of braided threads, at least some of the threads being present as a plurality of monofilaments and at least some of the threads being present as a plurality of multifilaments. The plurality of multifilaments are braided into a plurality of separate bundles DS containing at least two multifilaments. The monofilaments are embedded into the multifilaments during the braiding process to fix the multifilaments in a "braided" position and to prevent the multifilaments from slipping during application and use. This is intended to increase the abrasion resistance of the hose wall.
EP 0 742 626 A1 describes a flexible sound-absorbing hose with at least first yarns and second yarns intertwined with one another, the first yarns being formed from a plastic material and the second yarns being formed from a bulky material, characterized in that the first yarns are made from a plastic material have a diameter between approximately 0.5 and 0.7 mm, the ratio between the number of first yarns and the number of second yarns forming the tube being between 1 to 4 and 1 to 6.
EP 2 298 845 A1 discloses an adhesive tape consisting of a carrier and an adhesive layer applied to at least one side, the carrier being a fabric, in particular a polyester fabric. The adhesive tape is characterized in that the quotient of the titer of the transverse threads based on the length and the titer of the longitudinal threads based on the width is between 2.2 and 6 and the carrier has a basis weight of greater than or equal to 110 g/m 2 .
WO 2019/120752 A1 relates to a covering for covering elongated material, in particular for producing a longitudinal covering for cables of automobiles, with a carrier and with at least two closure strips made of an adhesive arranged on an upper side and/or underside of the carrier, the closure strips running along respective longitudinal edges of the carrier and defining a free area between and/or next to them. The carrier is designed as a single layer and should have abrasion resistance of class D according to LV 312-1 (2009).
To cover elongated goods, fabric tubes made to suit the required diameter can also be used, with different types of yarn being used to produce a tape fabric, which is then formed into a tubular covering under the influence of heat. With this type of covering, however, the yarns can easily be moved against each other if a rubbing movement acts on the covering from the outside. Accordingly, only partial and direction-dependent protection can be achieved.
Despite the solutions proposed in the prior art, there is still a need for an adhesive tape for bandaging cable and wire bundles with a high abrasion resistance, in particular against mechanical stresses such as those caused by chafing and rubbing on sharp edges or the like, which also has a reduced tendency to Has flagging.
This need is addressed in the present invention by an adhesive tape, as defined in more detail in the main claim. Preferred embodiments are described in the subclaims.
Accordingly, a first object of the present invention is an adhesive tape comprising a textile carrier in the form of a fabric made of longitudinal and transverse threads woven together in a twill weave and at least one layer of adhesive applied to the textile carrier, the ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads being 1: 2 to 1:7.
The carrier fabrics of the adhesive tape according to the invention are characterized by the thread material (for example polyester yarn), the thread weight of the threads (weight per length, unit dtex, 1 dtex = 1 g / 10,000 m thread) and the thread density or thread count (number of threads per cm).
In general, fabrics consist of warp threads (longitudinal direction, machine direction, also corresponds to the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape made from them) and weft threads (transverse threads).
The transverse titer of a fabric is the number of transverse threads (weft threads) per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the transverse threads in dtex. The unit is dtex/cm.
The longitudinal titer is the number of longitudinal threads (warp threads) per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the longitudinal threads in dtex. The unit is also dtex/cm.
The basis weight of the fabric is determined by the yarns used, their number and the type of weave.
In the context of the present invention, it was advantageously found that the direction-dependent protective effect of conventional fabrics can be overcome by twill weave fabrics, which offer protection against rubbing and scraping movements, in which it does not matter whether the Movement occurs in the warp or weft direction, rather a comparable protective effect can be achieved in both directions. In addition, the type of binding reduces the tape's tendency to flag.
Characteristic of twill weave fabrics are the oblique, parallel lines, the so-called twill ridge, which are formed by a series of binding points, i.e. the crossing points of warp and weft threads.
In a preferred embodiment, the fabric of the adhesive tape according to the invention is one in which the longitudinal and transverse threads form a twill grade which is selected from the group consisting of equal ridge, multi-ridge, wide ridge, steep ridge, flat ridge, pointed ridge and herringbone. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the longitudinal and transverse threads are woven together in a cross-twill weave, since it has been shown here that this can advantageously eliminate tensions that arise in the fabric.
The threads for producing the fabric carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention can consist of spun yarns or filament yarns (continuous yarns), with filament yarn usually being used. This consists of a fixed number of individual filaments and can be textured or smooth and point-solidified or unsolidified. The fabrics can be subsequently dyed or consist of spun-dyed yarns.
The fabric supports used are particularly preferably made from PET multifilament yarns.
(Chemical) fibers (staple fiber or continuous filament) are generally used as the starting materials for the backing material of the adhesive tape. These can consist of synthetic polymers, also called synthetic fibers, polyester (for example polyethylene terephthalate), polyamide, polyimide, aramid, polyolefin, polyacrylonitrile or glass. Alternatively, (chemical) fibers made from natural polymers are used, such as cellulosic fibers (viscose, modal, lyocell, cupro, acetate, triacetate, cellulon), such as rubber fibers, such as plant protein fibers and/or such as animal protein fibers and/or natural fibers made from cotton, sisal, flax , silk, hemp, linen, coconut or wool. However, the present invention is not limited to the materials mentioned, but rather, as will be apparent to those skilled in the art, a large number of other fibers can be used without having to be inventive.
Yarns made from the specified fibers are also suitable.
In the context of the present invention, it has surprisingly been shown that the abrasion resistance of the adhesive tape according to the invention can be improved by an inventive ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads in the fabric carrier. In a preferred embodiment, the ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads is 1:2.5 to 1:5, particularly preferably 1:3.
In a preferred embodiment, the carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention is a fabric with a thread weight of the transverse threads of 220 to 700 dtex, preferably 300 to 550 dtex.
In a preferred embodiment, the carrier used is a fabric in which the quotient of the titer of the transverse threads based on the length of the textile carrier and the titer of the longitudinal threads related to the width of the textile carrier is 1.4 to 2.4, preferably 1.8 to 2.0, where the titer is the number of threads per centimeter multiplied by the thread weight of the threads.
The advantage of the low weight of the adhesive tape according to the invention is further taken into account by preferably using a fabric as a carrier which has a basis weight of 70 to 420 g/m 2 , preferably 220 to 270 g/m 2 .
In a preferred embodiment, the number of longitudinal threads in the carrier used in the adhesive tape according to the invention is preferably 30 to 60/cm, preferably 45 to 60/cm, particularly preferably 48 to 55/cm. Also preferred is an embodiment in which the number of transverse threads is 20 to 40/cm, preferably 25 to 30/cm.
In the context of the present invention, it was surprisingly found that a comparatively thin carrier can be used without impairing the abrasion resistance. An embodiment is therefore preferred in which the thickness of the textile carrier is a maximum of 500 μm, preferably 200 to 400 μm.
The adhesive tape according to the invention further comprises at least one layer of adhesive which is applied to the textile carrier. The application of adhesive is preferably 60 to 150 g/m 2 , particularly preferably 90 to 110 g/m 2 . In the context of the present invention, it has surprisingly been shown that such an amount of adhesive is sufficient to bond the comparatively rough surface of the textile carrier.
Klebemasse Adhesive compound
All known adhesive systems can be used for the adhesive used in the adhesive tape according to the invention. In addition to natural or synthetic rubber-based adhesives, silicone adhesives and polyacrylate adhesives can be used in particular.
The adhesive is preferably a pressure-sensitive adhesive, i.e. a viscoelastic mass that remains permanently sticky and adhesive when dry at room temperature. Bonding takes place immediately on almost all substrates using light contact pressure.
An adhesive that has proven to be particularly suitable is a low-molecular-weight acrylate hotmelt PSA, such as that sold by BASF under the name acResin UV or Acronal®, in particular acResin A 260UV. This adhesive with a low K value obtains its application-appropriate properties through a final crosslinking triggered by radiation chemistry. Particularly preferred is a pressure-sensitive adhesive in the form of a dried polymer dispersion, the polymer being made up of:
(a) 95,0 bis 100,0 Gew.-% n-Butylacrylat und/oder 2-Ethylhexylacrylat (a) 95.0 to 100.0% by weight of n-butyl acrylate and/or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate
(b) 0,0 bis 5,0 Gew.-% eines ethylenisch ungesättigten Monomers mit einer Säure- oder Säureanhydridfunktion (b) 0.0 to 5.0% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with an acid or acid anhydride function
The polymer preferably consists of 95.0 to 99.5% by weight of n-butyl acrylate and/or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and 0.5 to 5% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with an acid or acid anhydride function, more preferably 97.0 or 98.0% by weight to 99.0% by weight of n-butyl acrylate and/or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and 1.0 to 2.0% by weight or 3% by weight of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with an acid - or acid anhydride function.
In addition to the acrylate polymers listed, the pressure-sensitive adhesive can be added to the PSA in addition to any residual monomers that may be present, and additional tackifiers and/or additives such as light stabilizers or anti-aging agents can be added.
In particular, no other polymers such as elastomers are contained in the PSA, that is, the polymers of the PSA consist only of the monomers (a) and (b) in the specified proportions.
Bevorzugt bildet n-Butylacrylat das Monomer (a). n-Butyl acrylate preferably forms the monomer (a).
Als Monomer (b) kommen vorteilhaft in Betracht zum Beispiel Acrylsäure, Methacrylsäure, Itaconsäure, Maleinsäure, Fumarsäure und/oder Maleinsäureanhydrid. Suitable monomers (b) include, for example, acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, itaconic acid, maleic acid, fumaric acid and/or maleic anhydride.
(Meth) acrylic acid of the formula I is preferred, where R 3 = H or CH3, preferably the mixture of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid is optionally used. Acrylic acid is particularly preferred.
According to a particularly preferred variant, the polymer has the following composition:
(a) 95,0 bis 100,0 Gew.-%, vorzugsweise 95,0 bis 99,5 Gew.-%, weiter vorzugsweise 98,0 bis 99,0 Gew.-% n-Butylacrylat und (a) 95.0 to 100.0% by weight, preferably 95.0 to 99.5% by weight, more preferably 98.0 to 99.0% by weight of n-butyl acrylate and
(b) 0.0 to 5.0% by weight, preferably 0.5 to 5.0% by weight, more preferably 1.0 to 2.0% by weight of acrylic acid The polymer dispersion is produced by the process of emulsion polymerization of the components mentioned. Descriptions of this process can be found, for example, in “Emulsion Polymerization and Emulsion Polymers” by Peter A. Lovell and Mohamed S. El-Aasser - Wiley-VCH 1997 - ISBN 0-471-96746-7 or in EP 1 378 527 B1.
During polymerization, it cannot be ruled out that not all monomers are converted into polymers. It is obvious that the residual monomer content should be as small as possible.
Adhesives comprising the polymer dispersion with a residual monomer content of less than or equal to 1% by weight, in particular less than or equal to 0.5% by weight (based on the mass of the dried polymer dispersion) are preferably provided.
According to the general understanding of those skilled in the art, an “adhesive resin” is understood to mean an oligomeric or polymeric resin that increases the self-adhesion (the tack, the inherent tack) of the PSA compared to the PSA that does not contain any adhesive resin but is otherwise identical.
The use of tackifiers to increase the adhesive strength of pressure sensitive adhesives is generally known. This effect also occurs when up to 15 parts by weight (corresponds to <15 parts by weight) or 5 to 15 parts by weight of tackifier (based on the mass of the dried polymer dispersion) are added to the adhesive. Preferably 5 to 12, more preferably 6 to 10 parts by weight of tackifier (based on the mass of the dried polymer dispersion) are added.
In principle, all known classes of substances are suitable as tackifiers, also known as adhesive resins. Tackifiers include, for example, hydrocarbon resins (for example polymers based on unsaturated Cs or Cg monomers), terpene phenolic resins, polyterpene resins based on raw materials such as a- or ß-pinene, aromatic resins such as coumarone-indene resins or resins based on styrene or a-Methylstyrene such as rosin and its derivatives, for example disproportionated, dimerized or esterified rosin, for example reaction products with glycol, glycerol or pentaerythritol, to name just a few. Preferred are resins without easily oxidizable double bonds such as terpene phenolic resins, aromatic resins and particularly preferred resins that are produced by hydrogenation such as hydrogenated aromatic resins, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene resins, hydrogenated rosin derivatives or hydrogenated polyterpene resins.
Resins based on terpene phenols and rosin esters are preferred. Adhesive resins with a softening point above 80 ° C according to ASTM E28-99 (2009) are also preferred. Resins based on terpene phenols and rosin esters with a softening point above 90 ° C according to ASTM E28-99 (2009) are particularly preferred. The resins are expediently used in dispersion form. This means they can be easily mixed with the polymer dispersion in a finely divided form.
Particularly preferred is the variant in which no adhesive resins are added to the PSA.
Kohlenwasserstoffharze (zum Beispiel Polymere auf Basis ungesättigter Cs- oder C9-In particular, the following substances are not added to the PSA: Hydrocarbon resins (for example polymers based on unsaturated Cs or C9
Monomere) monomers)
• Terpenphenolharze • Terpene phenolic resins
• Polyterpenharze auf Basis von Rohstoffen wie zum Beispiel a- oder ß-Pinen • Polyterpene resins based on raw materials such as a- or ß-pinene
• aromatische Harze wie Cumaron-Inden-Harze oder Harze auf Basis Styrol oder a-Methylstyrol wie Kolophonium und seine Folgeprodukte, zum Beispiel disproportioniertes, dimerisiertes oder verestertes Kolophonium, zum Beispiel Umsetzungsprodukte mit Glycol, Glycerin oder Pentaerythrit • aromatic resins such as coumarone-indene resins or resins based on styrene or a-methylstyrene such as rosin and its derivatives, for example disproportionated, dimerized or esterified rosin, for example reaction products with glycol, glycerol or pentaerythritol
Because of their particular suitability as an adhesive for adhesive tapes of automobile cable harnesses with regard to the freedom from fogging, solvent-free acrylate hot melt compounds are to be preferred, as described in more detail in DE 198 07 752 A1 and in DE 100 1 1 788 A1.
Fogging (see DIN 75201 A (201 1 -1 1 )) is the effect that, under unfavorable conditions, low-molecular compounds can outgas from the adhesive tapes and condense on cold parts. This can, for example, impair visibility through the windshield.
Weitere hervorragend geeignete Klebemassen werden in der EP 3 540 024 A1 , der EP 2 520 627 A1 , der EP 2 522 705 A1 , der EP 2 520 628 A1 , der EP 2 695 926 A1 und der EP 2 520 629 A1 beschrieben.Further outstandingly suitable adhesives are described in EP 3 540 024 A1, EP 2 520 627 A1, EP 2 522 705 A1, EP 2 520 628 A1, EP 2 695 926 A1 and EP 2 520 629 A1.
The adhesive coating also preferably consists of an adhesive based on synthetic rubber, namely in particular an adhesive made of at least one vinyl aromatic block copolymer and at least one adhesive resin. Typical use concentrations for the block copolymer are in the range between 30% by weight and 70% by weight, in particular in the range between 35% by weight and 55% by weight.
Other polymers that can be used are those based on pure hydrocarbons such as unsaturated polydienes such as natural or synthetically produced polyisoprene or polybutadiene, chemically essentially saturated elastomers such as saturated ethylene-propylene copolymers, a-olefin copolymers, polyisobutylene, butyl rubber, ethylene-propylene rubber and Chemically functionalized hydrocarbons such as halogen-containing, acrylate-containing or vinyl ether-containing polyolefins may be present, which can replace up to half of the vinyl aromatic-containing block copolymers.
Adhesive resins that are compatible with the elastomer block of the styrene block copolymers serve as tackifiers.
Light stabilizers such as UV absorbers, sterically hindered amines, antioxidants, metal deactivators, processing aids and end block-reinforcing resins can typically be used as further additives.
Plasticizers such as liquid resins, plasticizer oils or low molecular weight liquid polymers such as low molecular weight polyisobutylenes with molecular weights <1500 g/mol (number average) or liquid EPDM types are typically used. Fillers such as silicon dioxide, glass (ground or in the form of spheres), aluminum oxides, zinc oxides, calcium carbonates, titanium dioxides, carbon blacks, to name just a few, as well as color pigments and dyes as well as optical brighteners can also be used.
If flame retardancy is desired for the adhesive tape described, this can be achieved by adding flame retardants to the carrier and/or the adhesive. These can be organobromine compounds, if necessary with synergists such as antimony trioxide, although in view of the halogen-free nature of the adhesive tape, red phosphorus, organophosphorus, mineral or intumescent compounds such as ammonium polyphosphate are preferably used alone or in conjunction with synergists.
The adhesive can be applied to the textile carrier on one side, both sides or partially or over the entire surface, with partial coating of the carrier with the adhesive being preferred. In particular, it is preferred to apply the adhesive in the form of a strip in the edge regions of the carrier in the machine direction, preferably directly on the longitudinal edge of the carrier. The adhesive strips are preferably arranged parallel and spaced apart on a surface of the textile carrier. In an alternatively preferred embodiment, the adhesive strips are each applied offset to the opposite surface of the textile carrier. In a further preferred embodiment, the textile carrier has a further strip of adhesive which is arranged in the open area between the strips of adhesive applied in the edge regions of the carrier. In a further preferred embodiment, the adhesive layer is arranged on the textile carrier in the form of three parallel strips, with two strips being located on one surface of the carrier and the third strip being able to be located on the opposite surface of the carrier. Through these types of application of the adhesive to the textile carrier in the adhesive tape according to the invention, a flexible tube for bundling cables or other lines can be achieved.
For the safe and economical application of the adhesive tape in said spiral movement around the elongated material and to prevent the resulting protective covering from slipping, two adhesive strips present on the longitudinal edges of the adhesive tape are advantageous, especially if one is usually narrower than the second strip It serves as a fixation aid and the second, wider strip serves as a closure. In this way, the adhesive tape is glued to the cable in such a way that the cable set is secured against slipping and is still designed to be flexible.
The width of the strip or strips of adhesive can be varied as required and is usually approximately 10% to 30% of the width of the carrier.
At least one strip of cover can be provided on the adhesive coating of the carrier, which extends in the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape and which covers between 20% and 80% of the adhesive coating.
The position of the strip on the adhesive coating can be freely selected, with an arrangement directly on one of the longitudinal edges of the carrier being preferred. If the adhesive tape is used to cover a wiring harness by guiding the adhesive tape around the wiring harness in a spiral movement, the wiring harness can be wrapped in such a way that the adhesive of the adhesive tape is only stuck to the adhesive tape itself, while the material is not covered with any adhesive Touch comes.
The cable harness covered in this way has a very high level of flexibility due to the lack of fixation of the cables by any adhesive. This significantly increases its ability to bend during installation - especially in narrow passages or sharp bends.
If a certain fixation of the adhesive tape on the item is desired, the coating can be done in such a way that part of the adhesive strip is glued to the adhesive tape itself and another part to the item.
According to another advantageous embodiment, the cover strip is applied centrally to the adhesive coating, so that there are two adhesive strips extending on the longitudinal edges of the carrier in the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape.
There are also embodiments in which more than one strip of the cover is applied to the adhesive coating. If only one strip is mentioned, the expert will read in his mind that several strips can also cover the adhesive coating at the same time.
The strip preferably covers a total of between 50% and 80% of the adhesive coating. The degree of coverage is selected depending on the application and the diameter of the cable set.
Particularly preferably one or two adhesive strips remain, the total width of which accounts for 20 to 50% of the width of the carrier.
In particular, if the adhesive coating is not applied over the entire surface, but rather in strips, for example, the percentages given relate to the width of the strips of the covering in relation to the width of the carrier, i.e. according to the invention, the strip or strips of the covering have a width of between 20 and 80 % of the width of the beam.
In a preferred embodiment, the adhesive tape according to the invention has one or more weakening lines which are arranged at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the adhesive tape. This makes it easier to tear the adhesive tape.
The adhesive tape according to the invention is intended in particular for wrapping elongated goods such as cables or other lines. Therefore, a further object of the present invention is the use of the adhesive tape according to the invention for covering elongated goods, in particular cable harnesses in the automotive industry.
Another object of the present invention is an elongated item, in particular a cable set, which is covered with the adhesive tape according to the invention. The elongated material is preferably covered by the adhesive tape in the axial direction. Preferably, the elongated material is covered by the adhesive tape in the form of a helix. Preferably, the adhesive tape is used to cover elongated goods, such as cable harnesses in particular, with the adhesive tape being guided around the elongated goods in a helical movement. The result is the shape of a helix (also called a screw, helix, cylindrical spiral or helix; helix is a curve that winds around the surface of a cylinder at a constant pitch).
In one variant, the elongated material is covered by the adhesive tape in the axial direction. The wrapping of a cable harness with the adhesive tape described is not done in a helical manner - as is usual - but in such a way that when wrapping, a longitudinal axis of the tape is aligned essentially parallel to the direction of travel of the cable harness. Seen in cross section, the adhesive tape lies around the cable harness in the form of an Archimedean spiral. This type of winding is also called “wrapping the wire harness”.
Also included in the inventive idea is a coated elongated item, such as in particular a cable set, covered with an adhesive tape according to the invention, as well as a vehicle containing an elongated item coated in this way.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the elongated material is a cable harness which comprises a bundle of several cables such as 3 to 1000 cables, preferably 10 to 500 cables, in particular between 50 and 300 cables.
Due to the excellent suitability of the adhesive tape, it can be used in a casing that consists of a covering in which the self-adhesive adhesive tape is present at least in one edge area of the covering, which is glued to the covering in such a way that the adhesive tape extends over one of the Longitudinal edges of the covering extends, preferably in an edge area that is narrow compared to the width of the covering.
Such a product and optimized embodiments thereof are disclosed in EP 1 312 097 A1. Further developments are presented in EP 1 300 452 A2, DE 102 29 527 A1 and WO 2006/108871 A1 for which the adhesive tape according to the invention is also very suitable. Likewise, the adhesive tape according to the invention can be used in a process as disclosed in EP 1 367 608 A2.
Finally, EP 1 315 781 A1 and DE 103 29 994 A1 describe embodiments of adhesive tapes, as are also possible for the adhesive tape according to the invention.
In order to ensure the correct application of the adhesive tape, particularly on cable harnesses, at least one identification line running in the longitudinal direction can be present on the top of the carrier. Two identification lines are preferred. These marking lines differ visually and/or haptically from the surface surrounding them.
The marking is applied to the carrier, for example by printing. Alternatively or additionally, the procedure can also be such that the marking is incorporated into the first carrier. In this way, the marking can be realized as a woven-in warp thread, so to speak. EP 3 245 265 A1 describes the use of such a marking line on an adhesive tape.
In order to enable particularly easy work for the user, there are perforations in the adhesive tape, which are aligned in particular at right angles to the direction of travel of the adhesive tape and/or are arranged at regular intervals.
The perforation primarily serves as a tear-off aid for cutting to the specified length. There should be no perforations in the piece of tape covering the asset to have a negative impact on the shielding properties.
The perforations can be particularly advantageously produced discontinuously with flat punches or transverse perforation wheels and continuously using rotary systems such as spiked rollers or punching rollers, if necessary using a counter-roller (Vulkollan roller), which forms the counter-wheel during cutting.
Other options include controlled, intermittent cutting technologies, such as the use of lasers, ultrasound, high-pressure water jets, etc. If, as with laser or ultrasonic cutting, part of the energy is introduced into the carrier material as heat, the fibers can fuse in the cutting area, resulting in a disturbing Unraveling is largely avoided and sharp cutting edges are obtained. The latter methods are also suitable for achieving special cutting edge geometries, for example concave or convex cutting edges.
For the purposes of this invention, the general term “adhesive tape” includes all flat structures such as films or film sections extended in two dimensions, tapes with an extended length and limited width, tape sections and the like, ultimately also die-cuts or labels.
The adhesive tape therefore has a longitudinal dimension and a width dimension. The adhesive tape also has a thickness that is perpendicular to both dimensions, with the width and longitudinal dimensions being many times greater than the thickness. The thickness is as equal as possible, preferably exactly the same, over the entire surface area of the adhesive tape determined by length and width.
The adhesive tape is in particular in sheet form. A web is understood to mean an object whose length is many times larger than the width and the width is approximately preferably exactly the same along the entire length.
The adhesive tape can be made in the form of a roll, i.e. rolled up on itself in the form of an Archimedean spiral.
Another object of the present invention is a fabric tape comprising a textile carrier in the form of a fabric made of longitudinal and transverse threads woven together in a twill weave, the ratio of the thread weight of the longitudinal threads to the thread weight of the transverse threads being 1:2 to 1:7. The fabric tape is preferably used to produce the adhesive tape according to the invention. The present invention will be explained in more detail using the following examples and figures, although these should in no way be understood as a limitation of the inventive concept.
Beispiele: Examples:
Adhesive tapes according to the invention were produced and the abrasion resistance was determined. The abrasion resistance was tested according to LV 312, Chapter 9.3 “Scrape abrasion test” (April 2002 edition) based on the ISO 6722 standard (201 1 -10). The test specimen with a length of approx. 10 cm is glued to a 5 or 10 mm thick steel mandrel in a single layer in the longitudinal direction. A steel wire with a diameter of 0.45 mm serves as an abrasion tool and rubs the center of the test specimen under a weight load of 7 N. The number of double strokes until the test specimen is destroyed is determined as a measure of the abrasion properties. In a fabric, the direction of movement of the steel wire is parallel to the warp threads.
The results of the test and the parameters of the carriers used are summarized in Table 1, where K denotes the warp threads and S the weft threads.
L: Leinwandbindung; L: plain weave;
K: Twill weave FM 2420 is a comparative example manufactured by Federal Mogul.
The twill weave fabric B according to the invention has the great advantage over the plain weave comparison fabric A with the same structure and (within the scope of manufacturing precision) almost identical weight that the abrasion in the warp and weft directions delivers almost the same high values. A plain weave fabric is more abrasion-resistant in the warp direction, but significantly less abrasion-resistant in the weft direction, so it has a preferred direction. A twill weave fabric does not have a distinct preferred direction and can therefore be used very advantageously in any direction.
Even the canvas fabric C, which is significantly heavier than fabric B, does not come close to the abrasion value that fabric B has in the weft direction, and also shows a pronounced preferred direction.
The other comparison fabric FM 2420 also fails. The warp threads in the form of monofilaments made of PET are not rubbed through during the rubbing tests, but are shifted, so that the test has to be stopped after a few double strokes.

Figure 1 shows a preferred embodiment of an adhesive tape according to the invention, in which the adhesive (black) is applied to the textile carrier (gray) in the form of parallel strips.
