Abstract
The invention is a tool for silicone caulking having a silicone caulking nozzle (2) and a sealant spreader (1). The sealant spreader (1) is flat, rod-shaped, and has two rounded ends (1.1) with different radii of curvature. At least one part of its longitudinal edge (1.3) has a perforated connection to the silicone caulking nozzle (2) whose end is perforated (2.1) in order to make silicone caulking stripe of arbitrary thickness. The silicone caulking nozzle (2) and the sealant spreader (1) are made of the same material, preferably thermoplastic plastic. The sealant spreader (1) may have extenuations (1.2) along broken lines near its ends. Both broken lines connect the two opposite longitudinal edges (1.3) of the sealant spreader (1). Each broken line consists of two linear sections forming a corner with different angles at the two ends of tire sealant spreader (T).
Description
Tool for silicone caulking
The utility model is a tool for silicone caulking. The utility model consists of a silicone caulking nozzle and a sealant spreader which is attached to the cylindrical part of the nozzle. The sealant spreader and the silicone caulking nozzle can be separated. The utility model is used for applying and finishing silicone sealants for construction.
Different silicone caulking nozzles are widely used for the application of silicone sealants for construction. One end of the nozzle is connected to the tube or cartridge with a screw-thread, the other end is tapered and hollow. There is often a cylindrical part with constant cross-section between the tapered and threaded parts of the tool, which helps in reaching the bottom of the deeper gaps.
After the application of the silicone sealant, the material is usually finished with a so-called sealant spreader. There is a wide variety of sealant spreaders with different materials and forms because different tools are suitable for sealing
various widths of gaps or convex and concave comers with different angles efficiently. For example, special sealant spreaders are introduced in the descriptions with EP1666683, TW201336634, and GB2556044 publication reference numbers. It is a drawback of special sealant spreaders that they are not suitable for every profile. Thus, during work, some corners may remain unfilled due to the lack of an appropriate sealant spreader.
Missing spreaders can be easily replaced by flat and flexible plastic rods; however, these handmade tools may undergo permanent deformation and wear and tear after a few uses.
The description with publication reference number TWM467515 describes a silicone caulking nozzle where the sealant spreader and the nozzle cannot be separated. The disadvantage of this solution is that the use of the spreader is restricted by the attached silicone nozzle, the tube or cartridge attached to the nozzle, or the gun attached to the cartridge.
With this utility model, we aim to provide an alternative solution for special sealant spreaders, so
- each tube/cartridge of silicone sealant would include a disposable spreader; for this reason, o the silicone caulking nozzle and the sealant spreader are produced at the same time, from the same material;
- the use of the sealant spreader shall not be restricted by the attached silicone caulking nozzle; to this end, o the connection between the sealant spreader and the silicone caulking nozzle is perforated.
- the sealant spreader shall be suitable for different comer profiles or it shall be transformable; for this reason,
o the sealant spreader is made from a flat plastic rod, which can be easily cut out to the appropriate profile; o the two ends of the spreader are rounded with different radii of curvature; o in a favorable design, the ends of the sealant spreader are equipped with extenuations similar to comer profiles with different angles. Thus, we can achieve an angular geometry by cutting or breaking rounded parts along the extenuations;
Thus, the utility model is a tool for silicone caulking. The tool consists of a silicone caulking nozzle and a sealant spreader. The form of the sealant caulking tool is optional. The sealant spreader is flat and rod-shaped, and it has two rounded ends with different radii of curvature. At least one part of the longitudinal edge of the sealant spreader has a perforated connection to the nozzle. The sealant caulking tool and the sealant spreader are made of the same material, preferably thermoplastic plastics.
In a favorable design of the utility model, the ends of the sealant spreader are extenuated along a broken line, which connects the two longitudinal edges of the spreader and includes two straight lines. The vertex of the broken lines is closer to the end of the sealant spreader than the end points. The extenuations on both sides of the sealant spreader are equally deep and symmetrical to the center plane, which is parallel to the face of the sealant spreader. The sealant spreader can be cut or broken along the extenuations. In case of the two broken lines, the angles between the straight sections of the broken lines are different in size.
The utility model is represented with five examples, which show
Figure 1 : The section of the tool for silicone caulking
Figure 2: The top view of the tool for silicone caulking
Figure 3: The diagonal view of the tool for silicone caulking
Figure 4: The diagonal view of the tool for silicone caulking with extenuation
Figure 5: The front view of the tool for silicone caulking with extenuation
Figures 1-3 illustrate a favorable design of the utility model. Figure 1 shows the A-A section of the utility model represented by Figure 2, where we can see that the entire tool is made of one material. Figures 1-3 show that the sealant spreader (1) is a flat, rod-shaped, and thin sheet. One part of its longitudinal edges has a perforated connection to the silicone caulking nozzle (2), and the two rounded ends (1.1) of the sealant spreader (1) have different radii of curvature.
Figures 3 and 4 illustrate another favorable design of the utility model. Besides the above characteristics, it has two additional extenuations (1.2). As you can see on the figures, the extenuations (1.2) are made up of broken lines, which connect the two longitudinal edges (1.3). These broken lines consist of two sections, which form different angles; however, in both cases, the ends of the broken lines are much further from the rounded end (1.1) of the sealant spreader (1) than the common point of the sections. Figure 4 also shows that the extenuations (1.2) are on the same place on both sides of the sealant spreader (1).
In one example for the tool represented by the utility model, the thickness of the sealant spreader (1) is 1.5 mm, its width is 12 mm, and its length is similar to the length of the silicone caulking nozzle (2) without the threaded part. The radii of curvature for the two ends are 4 mm and 6 mm. Furthermore, the comer angles of the extenuations (1.2) on the ends of the sealant spreader (1) are 60° and 90°.
Compared to the current state of the art, the utility model has several advantages.
The sealant spreader (1) can be shaped by using scissors or a knife to be suitable for any corner profile or gap profile, so it can replace all special sealant spreader tools.
The silicone caulking nozzle (2) and the sealant spreader (1) can be separated, so the originally connected silicone caulking nozzle (2) does not hinder process of spreading sealant.
All tubes/cartridges have different sealant spreaders, so the wear and tear of the sealant spreader (1) will not pose a problem.
The advantage of the tapered (1.2) sealant spreader (1) is that the rounded end (1.1) of the sealant spreader (1) can be shaped to be angular without scissors of knives by breaking it along the extenuation (1.2).
