Said washing device (Y) comprises a mounting protrusion (3) extending outward from an edge of the side wall (2) provided at the rear wall (1) side; a mounting cavity (4) located at the door (K) side of the side wall (2), at an edge thereof parallel to the door (K); a side cover (D) mounted on the base portion (T) to cover at least one part of the base portion (T) in order to close the opening on the side wall (2), the side cover (D) comprising a cover body (5); a first piece (5a) extending from the cover body (5a) towards the edge of the side wall (2); a first extension (5b) extending to be inserted into the mounting cavity (4) from the side of the cover body (5) having the first piece (5a); a second extension (5c) provided to extend at a different angle in the mounting cavity (4) from the end of the first extension (5b) inserted into the mounting cavity (4); a hinge cutout (5d) located on a side of the cover body (5) where the first piece (5a) is located, and forming a space at an area of the cover body (5) corresponding to said door hinge (K1); and a second piece (5e) extending from an edge of the cover body (5) provided at the rear wall (1) side towards the edge thereof provided at the side wall (2), the second piece (5e) having at least one hole thereon for inserting the mounting protrusion (3).

Description

A WASHING DEVICE COMPRISING A SIDE COVER
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a washing device comprising a side cover that covers at least one part of the base portion.
Background of the Invention
Today, washing devices, e.g. dishwashers that save both time and energy, are widely used. Said washing devices conventionally comprise at least one body comprising at least one inner compartment; at least one base portion in the form of a chamber, which is located at the bottom of the body for accommodating electronic elements, and which has at least one opening on at least one side; at least one door for accessing the inner compartment, which is connected to said body and preferably to the base portion by means of at least one pivot door hinge. According to the state of the art, at least one side cover is used, which completely covers the sides of the washing device, both to ensure the visual integrity of the washing devices and to close the opening in the base portion. These side covers increase the use of raw materials as they cover the sides of both the body and the base portion. If it is necessary to provide access to the electronic elements in the base portion, said side cover must be completely disassembled. While disassembling the side cover, both the side cover and the body or base portion may be damaged, such as joints becoming worn. If the side cover is damaged, sides of the body will also be exposed, so the washing device becomes more vulnerable mostly on the surface.
In addition to the explanations above, since the side covers are produced one-piece, the area accommodating the door hinge that connects the door to the body and/or the base portion is also completely closed by the side cover. In the event that the side cover is hit by the part on the door hinge, the impacted part of the side cover may also affect the door hinge, thus disrupting the function of the door hinge. In the state of the art, the side covers of especially built-in washing devices are produced to cover only the sides of the base portion. Said side covers are mounted on the base portion only by fasteners such as screws and pins. However, it is quite difficult to install said side covers in the correct orientation and alignment. In addition, additional material costs may occur, as fasteners like screws or pins that are likely to worn are used in disassembly and assembly processes of side covers.
Brief Description of the Invention
The present invention relates to a washing device comprising at least one body that comprises at least one inner compartment; at least one base portion in the form of a chamber, which is located at the bottom of the body for accommodating electronic components, wherein the base portion comprises at least one rear wall and at least one side wall extending from the edges of the rear wall to the rear wall at an angle other than 0 degrees, wherein at least one of the side walls has at least one opening; at least one support member supporting the connection between said body and the base portion; at least one door for accessing the inner compartment, which is connected to said body by means of at least one pivot door hinge. The washing device further comprises at least one mounting protrusion extending outward from an edge of the side wall provided at the rear wall side; at least one mounting cavity located at the door side of the side wall, at an edge thereof parallel to the door; at least one side cover mounted on the base portion to cover at least one part of the base portion, in order to close the opening on the side wall, and comprising: at least one cover body; at least a first piece located on a side of the cover body corresponding to the edge of the side wall having the mounting cavity, wherein the first piece extends from the cover body towards said edge of the side wall at an angle other than 0 degrees; at least a first extension extending at an angle other than 0 degrees so as to be inserted into said mounting cavity from the side of the cover body having the first piece; at least a second extension with an angle in the range of 0 to 180 degrees with the first extension so as to extend in the mounting cavity at an angle different from the end of the first extension inserted into the mounting cavity; at least one hinge cutout located on a side of the cover body where the first piece is located, and forming a space at an area of the cover body corresponding to said door hinge; and at least a second piece extending from an edge of the cover body provided at the rear wall side towards the edge thereof provided at the side wall, at an angle other than 0 degrees with the cover body, the second piece having at least one hole thereon for inserting the mounting protrusion.
Thanks to the washing device according to the present invention, only one part of the base portion is closed such that the door hinge is open-top. This prevents the door hinge from losing its function as the side cover does not exert a force on the door hinge in the event of an impact. Since only at least one part of the base portion is covered with the side cover, as little raw material is used as possible and the assembly process requires quite a short period and less labor.
Object of the Invention
An object of the present invention is to provide a washing device comprising a side cover that closes at least one part of the base portion.
An object of the present invention is to provide a washing device comprising an ergonomic and easy-to-mount side cover in a correct orientation and alignment.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a washing device comprising a side cover for protecting the electronic elements in the base portion.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a washing device comprising a side cover that can be mounted to the base portion without the need for additional fasteners such as screws.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a washing device comprising a side cover that does not cover the door hinge and prevents the door hinge from losing its function by not exerting pressure on the door hinge in case of an impact. Still a further object of the present invention is to provide a washing device that prevents spread of fire to the environment of the washing device in cases such as a fire that may occur in the base portion.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a washing device that warns the user in cases such as a fire that may occur in the base portion.

Washing devices, e.g. dishwashers, conventionally comprise at least one body comprising at least one inner compartment; at least one base portion in the form of a chamber, which is located at the bottom of the body for accommodating electronic elements, and which has at least one opening on at least one side; at least one door for accessing the inner compartment, which is connected to said body and preferably to the base portion by means of at least one pivot door hinge. According to the state of the art, at least one side cover is used, which completely covers the sides of the washing device, both to ensure the visual integrity of the washing devices and to close the opening in the base portion. However, if it is necessary to provide access to the electronic elements in the base portion, said side cover must be completely disassembled. While disassembling the side cover, both the side cover and the body or base portion may be damaged. Moreover, if the side cover is damaged, sides of the body will also be exposed. According to the state of the art, said side covers completely close the part of the door hinge connecting the door to the body and/or the base portion. Therefore, the present invention provides a washing device comprising a side cover for solving said problem. The washing device (Y) according to the present invention, which is illustrated in figures 1- 8, comprises at least one body (G) that comprises at least one inner compartment; at least one base portion (T) in the form of a chamber, which is located at the bottom of the body (G) for accommodating electronic components, wherein the base portion (T) comprises at least one rear wall (1) and at least one side wall (2) extending from the edges of the rear wall (1) to the rear wall (1) at an angle other than 0 degrees (preferably at right angle), wherein at least one of the side walls (2) has at least one opening; at least one support member (G1) supporting the connection between said body (G) and the base portion (T); at least one door (K) for accessing the inner compartment, which is connected to said body (G) and preferably to the base portion (T) by means of at least one pivot door hinge (K1). The washing device (Y) further comprises at least one mounting protrusion (3), preferably a tab, extending outward from an edge of the side wall (2) provided at the rear wall (1) side; at least one mounting cavity (4) located at the door (K) side of the side wall (2), at an edge thereof parallel to the door (K); at least one side cover (D) mounted on the base portion (T) to cover at least one part of the base portion (T), preferably of the side wall (2), in order to close the opening on the side wall (2), and comprising: at least one cover body (5); at least a first piece (5a) located on a side of the cover body (5) corresponding to the edge of the side wall (2) having the mounting cavity (4), wherein the first piece (5a) extends from the cover body (5a) towards said edge of the side wall (2) at an angle other than 0 degrees (preferably at right angle); at least a first extension (5b) extending at an angle other than 0 degrees so as to be inserted into said mounting cavity (4) from the side of the cover body (5) having the first piece (5a); at least a second extension (5c) with an angle in the range of 0 to 180 degrees with the first extension (5b) so as to extend in the mounting cavity (4) at an angle different from the end of the first extension (5b) inserted into the mounting cavity (4); at least one hinge cutout (5d) located on a side of the cover body (5) where the first piece (5a) is located, and forming a space at an area of the cover body (5) corresponding to said door hinge (K1); and at least a second piece (5e) extending from an edge of the cover body (5) provided at the rear wall (1) side towards the edge thereof provided at the side wall (2), at an angle other than 0 degrees with the cover body (5), the second piece (5e) having at least one hole thereon for inserting the mounting protrusion (3). Thanks to the first extension (5b) and the second extension (5c) disclosed here, the side cover (5) is correctly aligned and fixed. This ensures ergonomic and easy assembly.
In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, while producing a washing device (Y), e.g. a dishwasher, the side cover (D) is mounted on the base portion (T) to close the opening on the side wall (2) of the base portion (T). For the assembly of the side cover (D), initially, the first extension (5b) and the second extension (5c) on the cover body (5) are passed through the mounting cavity (4), which are then attached to the mounting cavity (4) thanks to the angled form of the second extension (5c). Then, the second piece (5e), which is located on a side of the cover body (5) close to the rear wall (1), is also engaged with the mounting protrusion (3) on the side wall (2), by means of the hole thereon. By attaching the first extension (5b) and the second extension (5c) to the mounting cavity (4) and inserting the mounting protrusion (3) into the hole on the second piece (5e), movement of the cover body (5) in at least two directions (for example, its movement in the x-axis and in the z-axis) is limited. Said side cover (D) and the opening on the side wall (2) are closed such that the door hinge (K1) cannot be closed. As only at least one part of the base portion (T) is covered with said side cover (D), as little raw material is used as possible and the assembly process requires quite a short period and less labor.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side cover (D) comprises at least one support section (5f) in the form of a recess and/or protrusion on the cover body (5), which absorbs the impacts on the cover body (5) to enhance resistance of the cover body (5) against these impacts.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side cover (D) comprises at least a third piece (5h) between the first extension (5b) and the cover body (5), which is preferably in the same axis with the first piece (5a), with a distance to the first piece (5a). Thanks to the third piece (5h), the space between the cover body (5) and the edge of the side wall (2) is closed.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side cover (D) comprises at least one noncombustible and corrosion resistant material, preferably a metal; and a coating component with high fire resistance. Therefore, in the event of a fire occurring at the base portion (T), the flames are prevented from spreading out of the washing device (Y) onto the items around the washing device (Y). Said washing device (Y) preferably comprises at least one warning unit in the base portion (T), which is activated in case of fire in the base portion (T) so as to warn the user. The warning unit preferably comprises a smoke sensor and an audible warning element.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side wall (2) comprises at least one elevation section (2a) located on the side wall (2) (preferably on an edge of the side wall (2) extending perpendicular to the rear wall (1)) such that when the side cover (D) is mounted to the base portion (T), the cover body (5) remains inside. In case the cover body (5) has sharp, burr edges and/or corners, since said elevation section (2a) hides these edges and/or corners, the user is prevented from getting harmed, such as incisions on hands in transport, installation or use cases.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side cover (D) comprises at least one mounting hole (5g) located on a side of the cover body (5), where the second part (5e) is provided, for mounting the side cover (D) to the base portion (T) by means of at least one fastener (such as screw, pin). With the mounting hole (5g), the side cover (D) is also connected to the support member (G1) connected with the base portion (T). In this way, assembly of the side cover (D) to the washing device (Y) is enhanced. Said mounting hole (5g) is preferably in the form of a recess, extending from the surface of the cover body (5) towards the base portion (T). Thanks to the recessed form of the mounting hole (5g), when the fastener is inserted into the mounting hole (5g), the end part of the fastener does not protrude from the cover body (5). This prevents changes in the measurements of the washing device (Y) after assembly.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the side cover (D) comprises a covering part, preferably a tape or a film, that provides insulation in case of electrical leakage.
Thanks to the washing device (Y) according to the present invention, only one part of the base portion (T) is closed such that the door hinge (K1) is open-top. This prevents the door hinge (K1) from losing its function as the side cover (D) does not exert a force on the door hinge (K1) in the event of an impact. Since only at least one part of the base portion (T) is covered with the side cover (D), as little raw material is used as possible and the assembly process requires quite a short period and less labor.

Claims

CLAIMS A washing device (Y) comprising at least one body (G) that comprises at least one inner compartment; at least one base portion (T) in the form of a chamber, which is located at the bottom of the body (G) for accommodating electronic components, wherein the base portion (T) comprises at least one rear wall (1) and at least one side wall (2) extending from the edges of the rear wall (1) to the rear wall (1) at an angle other than 0 degrees, wherein at least one of the side walls (2) has at least one opening; at least one support member (G1) supporting the connection between said body (G) and the base portion (T); at least one door (K) for accessing the inner compartment, which is connected to said body (G) by means of at least one pivot door hinge (K1), characterized by comprising at least one mounting protrusion (3) extending outward from an edge of the side wall (2) provided at the rear wall (1) side; at least one mounting cavity (4) located at the door (K) side of the side wall (2), at an edge thereof parallel to the door (K); at least one side cover (D) mounted on the base portion (T) to cover at least one part of the base portion (T) in order to close the opening on the side wall (2), and comprising:
- at least one cover body (5);
- at least a first piece (5a) located on a side of the cover body (5) corresponding to the edge of the side wall (2) having the mounting cavity (4), wherein the first piece (5a) extends from the cover body (5a) towards said edge of the side wall (2) at an angle other than 0 degrees;
- at least a first extension (5b) extending at an angle other than 0 degrees so as to be inserted into said mounting cavity (4) from the side of the cover body (5) having the first piece (5a);
- at least a second extension (5c) with an angle in the range of 0 to 180 degrees with the first extension (5b) so as to extend in the mounting cavity (4) at an angle different from the end of the first extension (5b) inserted into the mounting cavity (4);
- at least one hinge cutout (5d) located on a side of the cover body (5) where the first piece (5a) is located, and forming a space at an area of the cover body (5) corresponding to said door hinge (K1); and - at least a second piece (5e) extending from an edge of the cover body (5) provided at the rear wall (1) side towards the edge thereof provided at the side wall (2), at an angle other than 0 degrees with the cover body (5), the second piece (5e) having at least one hole thereon for inserting the mounting protrusion (3).
2. A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the mounting protrusion (3) is in the form of a tab.

A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the side cover (D) comprises at least one support section (5f) in the form of a recess and/or protrusion on the cover body (5), which absorbs the impacts on the cover body (5) to enhance resistance of the cover body (5) against these impacts.
4. A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the side cover (D) comprises at least a third piece (5h) located between the first extension (5b) and the cover body (5), with a distance to the first piece (5a).
5. A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the side cover (D) comprises at least one non-combustible and corrosion resistant material, preferably a metal; and a coating component with high fire resistance.
6. A washing device (Y) according to claim 5, characterized in that said material is a metal.
7. A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized by comprising at least one warning unit in the base portion (T), which is activated in case of fire in the base portion (T) so as to warn the user.

A washing device (Y) according to claim 1 , characterized in that the side wall (2) comprises at least one elevation section (2a) located on the side wall (2) such that when the side cover (D) is mounted to the base portion (T), the cover body (5) remains inside. A washing device (Y) according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the side cover (D) comprises at least one mounting hole (5g) located on a side of the cover body (5), where the second part (5e) is provided, for mounting the side cover (D) to the base portion (T) by means of at least one fastener. A washing device (Y) according to claim 9, characterized in that said mounting hole (5g) is in the form of a recess extending from the surface of the cover body (5) towards the base portion (T).
