Description

DESCRIPTION
"A LIGHTING DEVICE FOR A STEERING MUDGUARD GROUP OF A FRONT WHEEL OF AN AGRICULTURAL VEHICLE"
[0001] The present invention relates to a lighting device for a steering mudguard group of a front wheel of an agricultural vehicle , for example a tractor or a small tractor .
[0002] In particular, in the following description, the term "agricultural vehicle" refers to those vehicles that are typically suitable for moving and operating on agricultural land; the term "tractor" refers to both agricultural tractors , and, more generally, to large machines , such as earthmoving machines derived from agricultural tractors ; in contrast the term " small tractor" refers to the type of vehicles that are typically of compact dimensions , for example used in the viticulture sector, and therefore suitable for harvesting .
[0003] In the prior art , wheeled agricultural vehicles are known that are provided with front steering wheels whereupon respective mudguard groups are arranged . These wheels , when the agricultural vehicle steers , steer in relation to the direction of travel about a steering axis transverse to the direction of travel . In the present discussion, as better detailed below, the mudguard groups are steering, i . e . each mudguard group rotates with the relevant wheel thereof about the steering axis .
[0004] These agricultural vehicles , which are suitable for carrying out speci fic operations on agricultural land, are also suitable for being driven on the public road . In fact , these vehicles are equipped with special headlights that are appropriately regulated by road traf fic rules . Furthermore , for agricultural work which is often also carried out at night , these vehicles are also equipped with high-intensity headlamps speci fically for illuminating the ground and that are therefore not for use on the public road .
[0005] One problem that is encountered with those agricultural vehicles that are in circulation is that of not having ef fective public road lighting under all circumstances . In particular, it has been found that in some situations agricultural vehicles do not have adequate lighting and therefore fail to be clearly distinguishable and identi fied by other road users . Sometimes in fact , some portions of the vehicle and the relative dimensions thereof , with particular reference to the front wheels , are not clearly vis ible or perceptible . [0006] In the known solutions , a first problem is encountered when, as often occurs , agricultural vehicles carry equipment at the front , such as weights or working tools . In these situations , the front road lights are completed covered . To overcome this problem, other headlamps that are arranged at a greater height are used . These known road headlamps are not positioned at the lateral ends of the vehicle , but more internally and do not therefore outline the maximum overall dimensions of said vehicle .
[0007] Another problem encountered in the known solutions relates to the lateral identi fication thereof , in particular in the case where an agricultural vehicle should enter a roadway by exiting from a cross road . Known vehicles do not have frontally arranged side lamps that may signal the entry of the vehicle onto a road, and therefore other road users are not able to identi fy said vehicles in a timely manner .
[0008] In other words , these circumstances may give rise to speci fic, dangerous situations that are obviously unwanted .
[0009] There is therefore a strong need to devise a solution for agricultural vehicles wherein the above issues are resolved .
