Further, the support device comprises an at least partially enclosed receptacle 5 having a first surface 6 and a second surface 7, wherein a distance d between said first and second surface 6, 7 is adjustable by an adjustment mechanism 8 of said receptacle 5. Further, figure 1 illustrates that the top surface 3 comprises a fastening portion 9 arranged to detachably attach to a pad unit 10. In some aspects of the disclosure, the second surface of the receptacle 7 may comprise the fastening portion 9.
  • the base unit 2 is rotatably connected to said receptacle 5 by a rotating means 11, wherein one of the base unit 2 and the receptacle 5 is rotatable with respect to the other about a rotational axis c of said rotating means 11. Accordingly, the support device 1 provides a swivel function.

  • the modular support device is a modular support device for insertion in-between a knee-brace and a knee of a user.

  • the rotating means 11 may be a bearing element, such as a radial bearing element (e.g. an annular ball bearing element) having an outer ring 15 arranged to be attached to said receptacle 5, preferably the outer ring is dimensioned to be secured in said receiving cavity of the receptacle 5.
  • an inner ring 16 of bearing element may be connected to said shaft 13. Accordingly, one of the outer ring 16 and the inner ring 15 rotates with respect to the other, thereby rotating one of the receptacle 5 and the base unit 2 with respect to the other.

Further, the shaft 13 and said rotating means 11 may be arranged to be located within said inner volume. Accordingly the first surface 6 of said receptacle faces said bottom surface 4 of said base unit 2, and said pad unit 10 is arranged to be attached to said fastening portion 9 of said top surface 3 of said base unit 2.

  • the knee-brace 100 shown in figure 4 comprises a knee-brace structure 101. Further, the modular support device 1 is attached between said structure 101 and the knee 102 of a user, so to provide lateral support of the knee 102 of a user. Accordingly, there is two support devices 1 on opposing joints of the knee of the user 102 so to provide stability and support from opposing directions. It should be noted that the device 1 need not to be used in pairs as in Figure 4.
  • Figure 4 further illustrates with arrows A the swivel function of the modular support device 1 which is provided by the rotating means 11 (shown in figures 1-2), thus allowing for a sufficient range of motion for the user. Further, Figure 4 also illustrates the distance d between the first and the second surface 6, 7 that is adjustable.
  • the modular support device 1 shown in Figure 4 provides both a swivelling function while also allowing for adjusting the pressure of the pad unit 10 towards the knee 102 by means of adjusting said distance d by the adjustment mechanism 8 (adjustment mechanism 8 shown in Figure 1-2).
  • Figure 5 schematically illustrates a method 200 for manufacturing the modular support device for the knee-brace according to any aspect herein, the method comprises the steps of: providing 201 the base unit, the receptacle and the rotating means. Further, securing 202 the rotating means to the base unit. Further, the method 200 comprises the step of attaching 203 the base unit to the receptacle by interference-fit.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un dispositif de support modulaire (1) comprenant une unité de base (2) ayant une surface supérieure (3) et une surface inférieure (4). En outre, le dispositif (1) comprend un réceptacle fermé (5) ayant une distance d entre une première et une seconde surface (6), (7) étant réglable par un mécanisme de réglage (8). En outre, la surface supérieure (3) et/ou ladite seconde surface (7) comprend une partie de fixation (9) conçue pour se fixer de manière amovible à une unité de tampon (10). En outre, l'unité de base 2 étant reliée de manière rotative audit réceptacle (5) par un moyen de rotation (11), l'un parmi l'unité de base (2) et le réceptacle (5) peut tourner par rapport à l'autre autour d'un axe de rotation c dudit moyen de rotation (11). L'invention concerne également une attelle de genou (100) comprenant un dispositif de support (1) et un procédé (100) de fabrication d'un dispositif de support modulaire.
