- the die coater of the present invention can effectively and simultaneously coat two different types of liquids on a current collector for a secondary battery.
- FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view showing a die coater 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention
- FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing a die coater 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
- the present invention relates to a die coater 10 capable of effectively simultaneously coating two different liquids on a current collector for a secondary battery.
- the two different liquids may be, for example, an electrode slurry and an insulating coating liquid.
- the following description can be understood as an embodiment in which the first liquid LQ1 is an electrode slurry and the second liquid LQ2 is an insulating coating liquid.
- the die coater 10 of the present invention includes a lower block 100, an upper block 200, and a coater shim 300 interposed therebetween, and a manifold insert supporting a portion of the coater shim 300 (400).
- the lower block 100 occupies approximately half of the body of the die coater 10 and includes a manifold accommodating a predetermined amount of the first liquid LQ1.
- the upper block 200 is a part that occupies the other half coupled with the lower block 100, and has a second liquid inlet 210.
- the upper part and the lower part are divided into upper and lower parts based on the drawing, and do not limit the installation direction of the actual die coater 10 itself.
- FIG. 2 shows that the first liquid inlet 120 communicating with the manifold of the lower block 100 is formed in the lower block 100, the first liquid inlet 120 is the upper block ( 200) may be formed.
- the second liquid inlet 210 must be formed in the upper block 200, which means that the direction of communication with the second liquid passage 350 formed in the form of a groove on the coater shim 300 to be described later is toward the upper block 200. because it is limited
- the coater shim 300 is interposed between the upper block 200 and the lower block 100 to form a first slit 360 and a second slit 370 open toward the front.
- the first slit 360 for discharging the first liquid LQ1 and the second slit 370 for discharging the second liquid LQ2 are spatially separated from each other.
- the specific structure of the coater shim 300 will be described in detail later.
- the coater shim 300 is basically interposed between the upper block 200 and the lower block 100 to form a slit with a height suitable for discharging liquid.
- the coater shim 300 restricts the flow direction so that the liquid introduced into the die coater 10 or contained therein is discharged toward the slit without flowing backward, and also to seal so that the liquid does not leak to other parts other than the slit also plays a role
- the coater shim 300 includes a second liquid passage 350 on a center guide 340 protruding and extending forward across the concave manifold.
- a manifold insert 400 supporting the lower surface of the center guide 340 is provided in the manifold.
- the base 310 extending along the width direction, the first side guide 320 and the second side guide 330 protruding from both ends of the base 310, respectively and a center guide 340 protruding from the central portion of the base 310.
- the overall outer size of the coater shim 300 corresponds to the size of the coupling surfaces of the upper block 200 and the lower block 100.
- the coater shim 300 provided in the present invention includes a center guide 340, which is a stripe that the die coater 10 of the present invention divides the electrode slurry onto the current collector into two or more areas and applies it in multiple rows. This is because it is designed for coating.
- FIG. 4 is a front view of the die coater 10 according to an embodiment of the present invention viewed from the front.
- the coater shim 300 interposed between the upper block 200 and the lower block 100, between the first side guide 320 and the center guide 340, and between the second side guide 330 and the center guide ( 340) is divided into two regions between them. These two spaces form the first slit 360 through which the first liquid LQ1 accommodated in the manifold is discharged. Since the first slit 360 is divided into both sides by the center guide 340 in the center, the die coater 10 of the illustrated embodiment forms two rows of electrode slurry mixture layers.
- the outlet of the second liquid passage 350 formed on the center guide 340 in the form of a groove forms the second slit 370 .
- the second liquid passage 350 is formed in a shallow groove shape that does not penetrate the center guide 340 . Accordingly, the second liquid passage 350 is spatially separated from the adjacent first slit 360 by both sidewalls of the center guide 340 .
- the closed end of the second liquid passage 350 communicates with the second liquid inlet 210 formed in the upper block 200, and thus the second liquid LQ2 supplied through the second liquid inlet 210. ) flows through the second liquid passage 350 and is discharged through the second slit 370 .
- the second liquid passage 350 on the center guide 340 is formed as a pair, and the first side guide 320 and the second side guide Also on the 330, second liquid passages 350 are formed one by one. That is, the second slits 370 are arranged one by one on both sides of each pair of separated first slits 360 . Due to the structure of the first slit 360 and the second slit 370, the insulating coating liquid of the second liquid LQ2 is applied to both edges of the mixture layer in the second row formed of the electrode slurry, which is the first liquid LQ1. an insulating layer is formed.
- the electrode slurry it is possible to apply the electrode slurry in two rows and at the same time apply the insulating coating liquid to the edges of the electrode slurry in each row, but due to the structural limitations of the center guide 340 crossing the manifold, the die coater 10 ), a problem arises in that the first liquid LQ1 and the second liquid LQ2 may be mixed with each other inside.
- the second liquid LQ2 is pressurized through the second liquid inlet 210 and flows through the second liquid passage 350, and the center guide 340 is caused by the pressure of the second liquid LQ2 acting on the second passage. ) is bent toward the manifold.
- the thin center guide 340 crossing the concave manifold tends to bend toward the manifold because there is no separate lower supporting force.
- the center guide 340 bent toward the manifold does not come into close contact with the upper block 200, and a gap is created between them, and the gap thus created is the second liquid LQ2 flowing through the second liquid passage 350.
- the gap By acting as a gap flowing into the manifold and the first slit 360, it eventually leads to a problem that the first liquid LQ1 and the second liquid LQ2 are mixed inside the die coater 10.
- the present invention includes a manifold insert 400 supporting the lower surface of the center guide 340, which is shown in the cross-sectional view of FIG.
- FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line “A-A” in FIG. 3.
- a manifold insert 400 having a shape corresponding to the cross section of the manifold (cross section along the discharge direction) is inserted into the manifold. It is fixed.
- the height of the manifold insert 400 corresponds to the depth of the manifold, and the upper surface of the manifold insert 400 fixed in the manifold supports the lower surface of the center guide 340 . Accordingly, the center guide 340 maintains close contact with the upper block 200 without being bent toward the manifold, thereby preventing leakage of the second liquid.
- the lower block 100 is provided with a first liquid inlet 120 communicating with the manifold, and the first liquid inlet 120 is located below the center guide 340 .
- both side surfaces of the manifold insert 400 are open so that the first liquid inlet 120 is not blocked. That is, the manifold insert 400 has a shape like a leg supporting the center guide 340 .
- both side surfaces of the manifold insert 400 may form an arch 410 structure, and the width of the arch 410 structure may be greater than or equal to the diameter of the first liquid inlet 120 .
- the curved surface of the arch 410 similar to a circular arc or an ellipse/parabola does not hinder the flow of the first liquid LQ1 flowing through the first liquid inlet 120, and the bridge of the arch 410 formed beyond the diameter of the inlet The width of does not reduce the inflow area of the first liquid (LQ1).
- the die coater 10 of the first embodiment as described above, the bending of the center guide 340 toward the manifold due to the pressure acting on the second liquid passage 350 is effectively prevented through the support of the manifold insert 400. Therefore, mixing of the first liquid LQ1 and the second liquid LQ2 in the die coater 10 does not occur. Therefore, the die coater 10 of the present invention can effectively and simultaneously coat two different liquids on a current collector for a secondary battery.
- a second embodiment of the present invention relates to an embodiment capable of further improving close contact or coupling between the center guide 340 and the manifold insert 400 .
- By improving the coupling of the center guide 340 to the manifold insert 400 a mixing problem in which the first liquid LQ1 and the second liquid LQ2 are mixed inside the die coater 10 is prevented more reliably.
- the manifold insert 400 is made of a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin material, for example, a trade name Teflon resin.
- PTFE resin is a material with excellent chemical resistance and guarantees excellent durability even when it is in contact with the electrode slurry and the insulating coating liquid for a long time, and therefore, the lower bearing capacity of the manifold insert 400 is maintained for a long time.
- the manifold insert 400 according to the second embodiment may further include a gasket 420 made of ethylene propylene rubber on a contact surface with the bottom surface of the center guide 340 .
- the gasket 420 made of ethylene propylene rubber ensures that the entire bottom surface of the center guide 340 is evenly adhered to the manifold insert 400, and thus the lower supporting force of the manifold insert 400 is the entire center guide 340. will work evenly on
- FIG. 7 is a perspective view showing another second embodiment of the manifold insert 400, and the second embodiment of FIG. 7 improves the coupling of the center guide 340 in terms of form.
- the embodiments of FIGS. 6 and 7 are described separately, but they may be combined with each other and implemented in one manifold insert 400 .
- the manifold insert 400 of FIG. 7 has coupling grooves 430 surrounding the bottom and both side surfaces of the center guide 340 .
- the coupling groove 430 of the manifold insert 400 improves binding to the center guide 340 and also improves alignment of the manifold insert 400 to the center guide 340 .
- this groove structure allows the center guide 340 and the manifold insert 400 to be aligned in a row and at the same time By increasing the contact area, a better support structure is realized.
- the coupling groove 430 of the manifold insert 400 partially invades the first slit 360 area by having side walls 432 surrounding both sides of the center guide 340 . Both side walls 432 of the coupling groove 430 may interfere with the flow of the first liquid LQ1 flowing into the first slit 360 . Therefore, as well shown in FIG. 8 , the coupling groove 430 of the manifold insert 400 may have a tapered portion 434 in which the thickness of both side walls 432 gradually decreases toward the front. The width of the manifold insert 400 at the front end of the tapered portion 434 is equal to the width of the center guide 340, and therefore the first liquid LQ1 flowing from the manifold toward the first slit 360 is tapered.
- the manifold insert 400 does not invade the first slit 360 area.
- the outline of the tapered portion 434 may be formed in various curved shapes other than the illustrated straight line shape.
- first side guide 330 second side guide
- center guide 350 second liquid flow path
- LQ1 first liquid
- LQ2 second liquid
- the die coater of the present invention is useful for effectively and simultaneously coating two different liquids on a current collector for a secondary battery.
