Abstract

RFID用補助アンテナ(201)は、物品に付与されたRFIDタグ(70B)に設けられたRFIDタグアンテナとRFIDアンテナとにそれぞれ結合する。RFID用補助アンテナ(201)は、コイルアンテナと磁界結合する導体ループ部、ダイポールアンテナ部(26,27)及び導体ループ部のインダクタンスと共に共振するキャパシタンスを有するキャパシタを備える。この構成により、RFIDタグ70A,70B,70CとRFIDアンテナとを高い位置関係の自由度の下で配置できるRFID用補助アンテナ201、それを備えるRFID通信装置及びRFID通信装置を用いたRFID通信システムを得る。

Description

RFID用補助アンテナ、RFID通信装置及びRFID通信システム
 本発明は、RFID通信装置によるRFIDタグのリードライト特性を改善するRFID用補助アンテナ、それを備えるRFID通信装置及びRFID通信装置を用いたRFID通信システムに関する。
 多数の物品の製造履歴などの個品情報を管理してトレーサビリティを高めるために、それぞれの物品にRFIDタグが設けられる。RFID通信装置は、RFIDタグと通信を行ってRFIDタグに対して読み取りや書き込みを行う。
 物品に埋め込まれるRFIDタグには小型化が求められる。このため、RFIDタグが備えるアンテナも小型にならざるを得ない。
 しかしながら、RFIDタグに例えばコイルアンテナなどの小型の磁界アンテナが形成されている場合、工場などで使用される一般的なリーダ装置が備える電界放射型のアンテナ(例えばパッチアンテナやダイポールアンテナなど)では、磁界アンテナと通信することは困難である。そのため、RFIDタグのコイルアンテナと磁界結合するように磁界結合型のRFIDアンテナを近接配置するが、通信距離が短く、指向性も限られる。この場合、既存の製造ラインにRFID通信システムを追加することは困難である。
 そこで、例えば特許文献1には、リーダ装置のアンテナ(RFIDアンテナ)として小型のアンテナを用いる必要がなく、RFIDタグの小型のアンテナとリーダ装置のアンテナとを通信可能にする補助アンテナが示されている。この補助アンテナは、通信周波数に相当する共振周波数を持った複数の共振ループが互いに磁界結合するように配列された共振ループ群を有し、この共振ループ群のアンテナ面積を、RFIDタグアンテナのアンテナ面積よりも大きくし、リーダ装置のアンテナのアンテナ面積と同等又はそれよりも大きくなるように構成されている。

 特許文献1に示される補助アンテナは、RFIDタグのアンテナとリーダ装置のアンテナ(RFIDアンテナ)との間に介在してRFIDタグとリーダ装置とが通信するので、リーダ装置のアンテナとして小型のアンテナを用いることなく、RFIDタグの小型のアンテナとリーダ装置のアンテナとの通信を可能とする。
 しかし、特許文献1に示される補助アンテナでは、RFIDタグが補助アンテナに結合するような関係で補助アンテナを配置しなければならず、また補助アンテナの指向性により、RFIDタグとリーダ装置のアンテナ(RFIDアンテナ)との位置関係の自由度は制限される。
 そこで、本発明の目的は、RFIDタグとRFIDアンテナとを高い位置関係の自由度の下で配置できるRFID用補助アンテナ、それを備えるRFID通信装置及びRFID通信装置を用いたRFID通信システムを提供することにある。
 本開示の一例としてのRFID用補助アンテナは、RFIDタグに設けられ、コイルアンテナを有するRFIDタグアンテナとRFIDアンテナとにそれぞれ結合する補助アンテナであり、前記補助アンテナは、前記コイルアンテナと磁界結合する導体ループ部及びダイポールアンテナ部と、前記導体ループ部のインダクタンスと共に共振回路を形成するキャパシタと、を備える。
 本開示の一例としてのRFID通信装置は、前記RFID用補助アンテナ、前記RFIDアンテナ及び前記RFIDアンテナに接続された通信回路を備え、前記RFID用補助アンテナは前記RFIDタグアンテナに対して第1方向に相対的に搬送され、前記第1方向は前記ダイポールアンテナ部の延伸方向と同じであり、
 前記RFIDアンテナはダイポールアンテナであり、当該ダイポールアンテナは前記第1方向に対して平行に配置される。
 本開示の一例としてのRFID通信システムは、前記RFID通信装置と、前記RFIDタグアンテナを含むRFIDタグが付与された物品と、当該物品を前記第1方向に搬送する搬送装置と、で構成される。
 本発明によれば、RFIDタグとRFIDアンテナとを高い位置関係の自由度の下で配置できるRFID用補助アンテナ、それを備えるRFID通信装置及びRFID通信装置を用いたRFID通信システムが得られる。

 図1(A)、図1(B)は、本発明に係る一実施形態として挙げるRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の構造を示す図である。図1(A)はRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の分解図であり、図1(B)はRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の正面図である。
 RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101は、RFIDタグによる管理対象としての物品の例である。このRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101は、シリンジ80と、このシリンジ80に設けられた針71と、この針71を覆うキャップ7とを備える。シリンジ80は、シリンダ82、シリンダ82の先端に取り付けられる針保持部81及びピストン83で構成されている。針保持部81は針71を保持する。シリンジ80内には薬剤が封入されている。より具体的には、シリンダ82内に薬剤が充填されていて、シリンダ82内の薬剤がゴム栓で封止されている。ピストン83はゴム栓を押し込むことによって、薬剤をシリンダ82の前方へ押し出す。
 キャップ7は絶縁性樹脂の成型体であり、RFIDタグ70はキャップ7に一体成型されている。この例ではキャップ7の先端位置にRFIDタグ70が埋設されている。
 図2はRFIDタグ70の平面図である。図3はRFIDタグ70の断面図である。このRFIDタグ70はRFIC70ICとコイルアンテナ70Lとを有する。コイルアンテナ70LがRFIDタグアンテナである。RFIC70ICの内部にはキャパシタ用電極又は寄生容量によるキャパシタが形成されている。このキャパシタのキャパシタンスとコイルアンテナ70Lのインダクタンスとで共振回路が構成されている、この共振回路の共振周波数はRFIDタグの通信周波数であり、例えば900MHz帯(860MHzから920MHz)の範囲である。つまり、このRFIDタグはUHF帯を用いるRFIDタグである。
 図3において、セラミック基板70S1内に2ターン分のコイルアンテナ70Lが形成されている。RFIC70ICはセラミック基板70S1上に実装されている。RFIC70は2つの端子電極を有し、その一方がコイルアンテナ70Lの一端に接続されていて、他方がコイルアンテナ70Lの他端に接続されている。セラミック基板70S1の上面には樹脂絶縁体層70S2が被覆されていて、この樹脂絶縁体層70S2によってRFIC70ICが保護されている。
 図4はRFID用補助アンテナ201の平面図である。このRFID用補助アンテナ201は、RFIDタグ70のコイルアンテナ70Lと磁界結合する導体ループ部21,22,23,24を有する。この導体ループ部21,22,23,24は導体ループ部の開口25を形成している。また、RFID用補助アンテナ201はダイポールアンテナ部26,27を有する。導体ループ部21の途中にはキャパシタ28が直列接続されている。このキャパシタ28のキャパシタンスと、導体ループ部21,22,23,24のインダクタンスとによって共振回路が構成されている。
 図4において、導体ループ部21,22,23,24の長手方向の寸法、つまり導体ループ部21,22の長さをX2で表し、導体ループ部21,22の寸法X2とダイポールアンテナ部26,27とを合わせた長さをX1で表している。また、導体ループ部21,22,23,24の短手方向の寸法、つまり導体ループ部23,24の長さをY2で表し、ダイポールアンテナ部26,27の短手方向の長さをY1で表している。各部の寸法例は次のとおりである。

 導体ループ部の開口25の面に対する垂直方向に視て、導体ループ部の開口25は、図2、図3に示したコイルアンテナ(RFIDタグアンテナ)70Lより大きい。図2、図3に示したコイルアンテナ70Lの寸法は例えば1.2mm×1.2mmである。つまり、導体ループ部の開口25内にコイルアンテナ70Lのループが入る。なお、コイルアンテナ70Lの長手方向の寸法が導体ループ部の開口25の短手方向の寸法より大きくても、導体ループ部の開口25の面に対する垂直方向に視て、導体ループ部の開口25内にコイルアンテナ70Lが収まる関係であればよい。さらには、コイルアンテナ70Lの開口と導体ループ部の開口25が導体ループ部の開口25の面に対する垂直方向に視て、重なっていればよい。換言すれば、コイルアンテナ70Lは導体ループ部の開口25に収まっていなくとも、導体ループ部の開口25とコイルアンテナ70Lの開口とが重なる領域があればよく、コイルアンテナ70Lが導体ループ部の開口25からはみ出ていてもよい。より効率的に磁界結合させるには、導体ループ部の開口25とコイルアンテナ70Lの開口の重なる領域を大きくすればよく、導体ループ部の開口25の中にコイルアンテナ70Lが収まる関係が最も効率がよい。
 キャパシタ28と導体ループ部21,22,23,24とによる共振回路の共振周波数は通信周波数にほぼ等しい。
 導体ループ部21,22の寸法X2とダイポールアンテナ部26,27とを合わせた長さX1は、ダイポールアンテナ部26,27と導体ループ部21,22によるダイポールアンテナの通信周波数の半波長にほぼ等しい。したがって、このダイポールアンテナは通信周波数における放射器として作用する。
 図5は導体ループ部21,22,23,24とダイポールアンテナ部26,27との結合関係を示す図である。RFIDアンテナからRFIDタグアンテナに信号が送信されるとき、ダイポールアンテナの共振により、導体ループ部23,24に電流が誘起され、導体ループ部21,22,23,24に共振電流iが流れる。
 図6(A)はRFID用補助アンテナ201とRFIDタグ70との結合状態での、両者の位置関係を示す斜視図であり、図6(B)はその正面図である。図6(A)、図6(B)においては、RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101のうちキャップ7の一部のみを表している。
 この例では、キャップ7に埋め込まれたRFIDタグ70に設けられているコイルアンテナ70Lのループ面と導体ループ部21,22,23,24のループ面とは平行である。
 後に示すように、図1に示したRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101はRFID用補助アンテナ201に対して第1方向(図中のX方向)に搬送される。この第1方向はダイポールアンテナの延伸方向と同じである。また、第1方向は導体ループ部の開口の長手方向と同じである。
 導体ループ部の開口25の面に対する垂直方向に視て、RFIDタグ70が導体ループ部の開口25内にあるとき、導体ループ部21,22,23,24とRFIDタグ70に形成されたコイルアンテナ70Lとは磁界結合する。
 RFIDシステムが、複数のRFIDタグ70について実質的に同時に通信可能なようにソフトウェアが構成されている場合は、導体ループ部の開口25内に同時に複数のRFIDタグ70が対向してもよい。そのことにより、RFIDリーダライタは導体ループ部の開口25内に入る複数のRFIDタグ70と通信可能である。ただし、以降に述べる例では導体ループ部の開口25内に単一のRFIDタグ70が対向する。
 図7はRFID通信システムの斜視図である。また、この図はRFID用補助アンテナ201と複数のRFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70Dとの位置関係を示す。RFID通信システムは、複数のRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101を搬送する搬送装置を備える。
 図7においては、RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101のうちキャップ7の一部のみを表している。また、複数のRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101がRFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70Dを備えていることを表している。
 RFID通信システムの搬送装置は、多数のRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101を間隔Dを保ったまま、RFID用補助アンテナ201に対して第1方向(図中のX方向)に搬送する。
 導体ループ部の開口の長手方向の寸法X2は、RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の配置間隔D(つまり、RFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70Dのコイルアンテナの配置間隔)より短い。したがって、導体ループ部の開口25の面に対する垂直方向に視て、導体ループ部の開口25内にRFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70D等のうち複数のRFIDタグが対向することはない。導体ループ部の開口25内に対向するRFIDタグに隣接するRFIDタグはダイポールアンテナ部26,27の一方に対向するか、RFID用補助アンテナ201とは対向しない。
 図8(A)、図8(B)、図8(C)、図8(D)は、或るタイミングにおけるRFID用補助アンテナ201と複数のRFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70Dとの位置関係を示す正面図である。図8(A)は、RFIDタグ70Bが導体ループ部の開口25内に対向し始めている状態を示している。このとき、RFIDタグ70Aはダイポールアンテナ部26に対向する。そしてRFIDタグ70CとRFID用補助アンテナ201とは未だ対向しない。
 その後、RFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70D等が移動して図8(B)に示す状態になると、RFIDタグ70Bが導体ループ部の開口25内に対向したまま、RFIDタグ70A,70BはRFID用補助アンテナ201とは対向しない。
 その後、RFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70D等が移動して図8(C)に示す状態になると、RFIDタグ70Bはまだ導体ループ部の開口25内に対向したまま、RFIDタグ70Cはダイポールアンテナ部27に対向する。
 その後、RFIDタグ70A,70B,70C,70D等が移動して図8(D)に示す状態になると、RFIDタグ70Cが導体ループ部の開口25内に対向し始める。このとき、RFIDタグ70Bはダイポールアンテナ部26に対向する。
 以降、RFIDタグ70C,70D等についても、図8(A)、図8(B)、図8(C)、図8(D)に示す状態を繰り返す。
 図8(A)に示す状態では、RFIDタグ70BがRFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループ部の開口25内に対向するため、導体ループ部21,22,23,24による導体ループとRFIDタグ70Bとが磁界結合する。このとき、RFIDタグ70Aはダイポールアンテナ部26に対向するため、RFIDタグ70Aはダイポールアンテナ部26でシールドされる。そのため、導体ループ部21,22,23,24による導体ループとRFIDタグ70Aとの磁界結合が遮断される。
 図8(B)に示す状態では、RFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループとRFIDタグ70Bとが磁界結合するが、RFIDタグ70A,70CはRFID用補助アンテナ201とは対向しないので、RFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループとRFIDタグ70A,70Cとは磁界結合しない。
 図8(C)に示す状態では、RFIDタグ70BがRFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループ部の開口25内に対向するため、導体ループ部21,22,23,24による導体ループ部の開口25とRFIDタグ70Bとが磁界結合する。このとき、RFIDタグ70Cはダイポールアンテナ部27に対向するため、RFIDタグ70Cはダイポールアンテナ部27でシールドされる。そのため、RFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループとRFIDタグ70Cとの磁界結合が遮断される。
 このように、通信すべきRFIDタグがRFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループ部の開口25内に対向するとき、そのRFIDタグとの通信が可能となり、そのRFIDタグに隣接するRFIDタグは、ダイポールアンテナ部26、27に対向するか、RFID用補助アンテナ201の位置から外れることで、RFID用補助アンテナ201の導体ループと磁界結合しないため、通信すべきでないRFIDタグとの不要な通信が避けられる。このことにより、RFIDリーダライタは単一のRFIDタグのみと通信するようにソフトウェアを構成すればよい。
 RFIDリーダライタが複数のRFIDタグと通信しなければならない場合は、それら複数のRFIDタグとの通信及びデータ処理に時間が掛かるので、RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の移動速度(搬送速度)が制限される。これに対し、上述のように、RFIDリーダライタが単一のRFIDタグのみと通信するようにソフトウェアを構成する場合、ソフトウェアの構成を簡略化できる。また、単一のRFIDタグとの通信が前提となるので、RFIDタグとの通信及びデータ処理に要する時間を短縮化できる。そのことにより、RFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の移動速度(搬送速度)を高めることができ、RFID通信システムの処理能力を高めることができる。
 図9は、RFID用補助アンテナ201及びRFIDアンテナ301からなるRFID通信装置と、物品に付与されたRFIDタグ70A,70B,70Cとの位置関係を示す斜視図である。この図には含まれないが、RFID通信装置にはRFIDアンテナ301に接続される通信回路も含まれる。RFIDアンテナ301内にはパッチアンテナやダイポールアンテナ等の放射導体が設けられている。RFIDアンテナ301にはRFIDリーダライタが接続されている。
 RFIDアンテナ301及び、その放射導体は第1方向(X方向)に対して平行に配置されている。そのため、RFID用補助アンテナ201のダイポールアンテナ部26,27とRFIDアンテナ301とを用いて、遠方界での電磁波による通信が可能となる。つまり、図9に示した状態で、RFIDタグ70BとRFIDリーダライタとはRFID用補助アンテナ201を介して通信が可能となる。
 図10は、RFID用補助アンテナ201及びRFIDアンテナ302からなるRFID通信装置と、物品に付与されたRFIDタグ70A,70B,70Cとの位置関係を示す斜視図であり、図9に示したRFID通信装置の変形例である。この図には含まれないが、RFID通信装置にはRFIDアンテナ302に接続される通信回路も含まれる。RFIDアンテナ302内には平面アンテナやダイポールアンテナが設けられている。RFIDアンテナ302にはRFIDリーダライタが接続されている。
 RFIDアンテナ302は第1方向(X方向)に対して平行に配置されている。そのため、RFID用補助アンテナのダイポールアンテナ部とRFIDアンテナ302とを用いて、遠方界での電磁波による通信が可能となる。つまり、図10に示した状態で、RFIDタグ70BとRFIDリーダライタとはRFID用補助アンテナ201を介して通信が可能となる。
 図9、図10に示した例のように、RFID用補助アンテナ201を用いることで読み取るべきRFIDタグ70BからRFIDアンテナ301,302までの距離を大きくできる。また、RFIDアンテナ301,302はRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の移動方向に対して平行に配置すればよく、RFIDタグに対するリードライトを適用する検査ラインに対して延伸方向の周囲360度の範囲に設置が可能となり、工程設計が限定されない。また、既存の検査ラインへの追加(後付け)も容易となる。
 また、図9、図10では、単一のRFID用補助アンテナ201と単一のRFIDアンテナ301,302との組を示したが、この組をRFIDタグ付きシリンジ101の移動経路に沿って複数のRFIDアンテナを配置して、読み取り・書き込みなどの工程を分けてもよい。
 また、単一の導体ループの開口部にRFIDタグが対向している時間内で、RFIDタグの情報の読み取り・書き込みなどを順次行ってもよい。
 また、複数のRFID用補助アンテナ201と単一のRFIDアンテナを用いて、RFID通信システムを構成してもよい。例えば、RFIDタグの情報読み取り用のRFID用補助アンテナ201と、RFIDタグへの所定の情報書き込み用のRFID用補助アンテナ201と、を設け、それらRFID用補助アンテナ201を介する通信を単一のRFIDアンテナで行ってもよい。
 最後に、本発明は上述した実施形態に限られるものではない。当業者によって適宜変形及び変更が可能である。本発明の範囲は、上述の実施形態ではなく、特許請求の範囲によって示される。さらに、本発明の範囲には、特許請求の範囲内と均等の範囲内での実施形態からの変形及び変更が含まれる。
 例えば、以上に示した例ではシリンジを管理対象の物品の例としたが、本発明は他の様々な物品に同様に適用できる。
 また、本発明は、物品が静止している状態でRFIDタグ付き補助アンテナが移動するような形態に適用することもできる。

Claims (9)

  1.  RFIDタグに設けられコイルアンテナを有するRFIDタグアンテナとRFIDアンテナとにそれぞれ結合する補助アンテナであり、
     前記補助アンテナは、前記コイルアンテナと磁界結合する導体ループ部、ダイポールアンテナ部及び前記導体ループ部のインダクタンスと共に共振回路を形成するキャパシタを備える、
     RFID用補助アンテナ。
  2.  前記導体ループ部のループ面に対する垂直方向に視て、前記導体ループ部の開口は前記RFIDタグアンテナより大きい、
     請求項1に記載のRFID用補助アンテナ。
  3.  請求項1又は請求項2に記載のRFID用補助アンテナ、前記RFIDアンテナ及び前記RFIDアンテナに接続された通信回路を備え、
     前記RFID用補助アンテナは前記RFIDタグアンテナに対して第1方向に相対的に搬送され、
     前記第1方向は前記ダイポールアンテナ部の延伸方向と同じであり、
     前記RFIDアンテナは平面アンテナ又はダイポールアンテナであり、当該平面アンテナ又はダイポールアンテナは前記第1方向に対して平行に配置された、
     RFID通信装置。
  4.  前記導体ループ部の開口の前記導体ループ部面内の前記第1方向の長さは前記RFIDタグアンテナの配置間隔より短い、請求項3に記載のRFID通信装置。
  5.  前記導体ループ部の開口の、前記導体ループ部面内の前記第1方向に垂直な第2方向の長さは前記第1方向の長さよりも短い、
     請求項4に記載のRFID通信装置。
  6.  前記RFIDアンテナの延伸方向と前記RFID用補助アンテナの延伸方向とが略平行に配置されている、請求項3から請求項5のいずれかに記載のRFID通信装置。
  7.  請求項3から請求項5のいずれかに記載のRFID通信装置と、前記RFIDタグアンテナを含む前記RFIDタグが付与された物品と、当該物品を前記第1方向に搬送する搬送装置と、で構成される、
     RFID通信システム。
  8.  前記物品は、シリンジと、当該シリンジに取り付けられる針と、当該針を被覆するために前記シリンジに取り付けられるキャップと、を含み、
     前記RFIDタグは前記キャップに設けられた、
     請求項7に記載の、RFID通信システム。
  9.  前記RFIDタグは前記シリンジの前記キャップの先端に設けられ、前記RFIDタグの前記コイルアンテナの開口が前記RFID用補助アンテナの開口と略平行になるように配置されている、
     請求項8に記載の、RFID通信システム。
