  • HAIs Hospital- Acquired Infections
  • HAIs can be transmitted from one patient to another through direct or indirect contact. While person-to-person touch is an important mode of transmission, contaminated surfaces in a health care setting of facility can contribute to the transmission of microorganisms causing deadly HAIs.
  • Viruses and bacteria can survive on surfaces for long periods and thrive on many objects, such as bed rails, call buttons, telephones, door handles, mattresses, bathroom fixtures, and chairs.
  • HAIs such as C. difficile spores can survive in the health care environment for up to 5 months
  • MRSA Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus
  • VRE Vancomycin Resistant Enterococci
  • HAIs According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in American hospitals alone, HAIs accounts for an estimated 1.7 million infections and 99,000 associated deaths each year.
  • Embodiments of the present invention attempt to significantly reduce those numbers and prevent HAIs, to promote a safe and healthy environment worldwide.

  • Porous PTFE is an excellent material choice for UV reflectivity because of its resistance to degradation, high reflectivity, and diffuse (Lambertian) reflectance.
