Description

SKIN PRODUCT EFFECTIVE AGAINST INSECTS AND HARMFUL SUN RAYS
Subject of the Invention
The subject of the invention relates to a skin product, which protects the skin from the insects by way of controlled release of a certain quantity of natural insect repellent agent into the skin and from the harmful effects of the sun by means of the physical protection agents, is not absorbed through the skin, does not cause health problems and provides long-lasting action.
State of the Art
The skin is an important part of the body, which protects the internal organs from the external mechanical, chemical and biological effects, helps with the regulation of the body temperature, enables its elastic structure and natural flora to be preserved by keeping the water content above 10% owing to the natural moisturizing factors it contains, and is able to repair itself by carrying out the production of collagen and protein. The sun exposure leads to the loss of hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin, fatty tissue and telomere from the skin, the pigment changes in the skin and the cancer. Accordingly, the sun creams were developed for the purpose of protecting the skin from the harmful effects of the sun rays (UVA, UVB) especially during the summer months when the solar action is most intensive. The solar protection ingredients contained in the conventional sun creams are classified into two groups. These are the physical solar protection ingredients, of which the inorganic UV filters and the mineral UV filters may be mentioned as the examples, and the chemical solar protection ingredients, of which the organic UV filters may be mentioned as an example.
There are studies showing that the chemical protection ingredients have anti- androgenic effects in the body and lead to the thyroid hormone disorders, behavioral disorders and changes in the blood plasma and urine levels. It was determined that the quantities of these chemicals above the acceptable levels enter the body via skin absorption and remain in the body for 1-3 weeks. Most of the conventional sunblock products still contain oxybenzene, which is a chemical solar protection ingredient, has reported hormonal, allergic and toxic effects and was determined to pass to the infant during the pregnancy and to the milk during the breast feeding period. The use of oxybenzene especially in the children may cause systemic absorption that is above the expected extent.
An increase in the number of the insects such as mosquito and housefly is also observed during the summer months due to the high temperatures. While people try to protect their skin from the sun with the solar protection products, they at the same time try to achieve protection from the insects by the use of the insect repellent products. The insecticides with strong and long-lasting action are mainly used in order to prevent the contact of the mentioned insects with the humans and prevent the spread of the diseases carried by these insects. The synthetic insecticide products such as DEET and permethrin are applied via the spraying method on the surfaces in the indoor spaces, and in this way, the insects are killed and the spread of the diseases such as malaria carried by these insects is considerably prevented. However, the use of these products frequently and in high quantities may lead to the environmental pollution and to the health problems such as allergic reactions, seizures, lack of concentration, memory problems and learning disability. The use of these chemicals in the products that are directly applied on the skin causes the deterioration of the skin health.
For all these reasons, the natural skin products are needed, which protect the skin from both the sun and the insects especially during the summer months, are free of chemical UV filters and synthetic insect repellent agents and thus are not absorbed through the skin and do not cause the health problems even when used frequently and in high quantities, and exhibit a long-lasting action. In order for these products to achieve long- lasting action, they should be released into the skin in a controlled manner. Controlled release is a process whereby an active ingredient is delivered from within a system to a target area over an extended period of time, at a specified rate and at the required quantity and thus the active ingredient is enabled to maintain its action for a long time in said area. Encapsulation is the process of forming a thin coating around this active ingredient. Said coating, i.e. the carrier, is the system from within which the active ingredient is to be released. The carriers increase the stability of the encapsulated active ingredient, reduce the interaction of this ingredient with the other substances in the ambience, and thus, enable the active ingredient to maintain its activityfor a longertime in the environments that would cause the degeneration of the active ingredient when present in the non-encapsulated state.
Within the scope of the invention, a natural skin product, which enables the insects to be repelled from the skin via the controlled release of a certain quantity of the natural insect repellent agent into the skin, protects the skin from the harmful effects of the sun via the physical protection ingredients, is not absorbed through the skin, does not cause health problems, and provides a long-lasting action, has been developed. Owing to comprising the natural ingredients, the product according to the invention is not absorbed through the skin and does not cause the health problems even when used frequently and in high quantities, a long-lasting action is achieved via the controlled release of the insect repellent agent said product contains, and the quantity and frequency of the use of the product are reduced. The product according to the invention is also suitable for preferably comprising the skin care agents that increase the beneficial microorganisms in the skin flora and increase the natural moisturizing factors by nourishing the skin, repair the skin, tighten the skin and delay the aging. Providing more than one action by a single product provides ease of use for the users.
Object of the Invention
An object of the invention is to develop an economic skin product, which protects the skin both from the harmful effects of the sun and from the insects and which provides ease of use for the users owing to its dual action feature.
Another object of the invention is to develop a health- and environment-friendly skin product, which, owing to comprising the physical sun protection agent and the natural insect repellent agent, does not lead to the health problems caused by the conventional sun protection and insect repellent products.
Another object of the invention is to develop a skin product, which enables the insect repellent agent to be released into the skin over an extent period of time and at a specified rate, i.e. in a controlled manner, and thus exhibits long-lasting action. Another object of the invention is to develop a sun cream, which has the properties mentioned in the preceding objects.
