Abstract
ln particular, the invention is related to a method where the furniture as a whole or the visible surfaces of its parts that the users come in contact with are made from natural wood, and the invisible surfaces of its parts that the users do not come in contact with are made from recyclable plastic materials and it is related to the furniture produced with this method.
Description
A METHOD FOR MASS PRODUCTION OF FURNITURE/FURNITURE PARTS
Technical Field
The invention is related to the production of parts of all indoor and outdoor furniture such as seats, backrests, armrests by plastic injection method.
In particular, the invention is related to the production of outdoor furniture as a whole or their parts by plastic injection method, for which factors such as weight, cost and durability are of great importance. In particular, an innovative production process is introduced that allows the visible surfaces of the parts that the users come in contact with are made from natural wood, and the invisible surfaces of the parts that the users do not come in contact with are made from recyclable plastic materials.
Known State of the Art
Today, the use of indoor and outdoor furniture is known that have different designs, different technical features and that are designed to meet different requirements. Furniture is the common name of movable goods that are used for furnishing the places used for sitting, eating, working and sleeping. With the changing the needs and habits of the users, the production of furniture suitable for their usage areas gained importance, and in this sense, studies were conducted for more durable products that are produced at lower cost. Although wood is the first raw material that comes to the mind when furniture is mentioned, the facts that the wood raw material is expensive and is not suitable for the physical conditions in outdoor spaces, especially in outdoor furniture, brought about the idea of producing furniture with durable and light materials, and thus the use of plastic raw materials became quite widespread.
The most important factor for the users’ preference of wooden furniture is that the structure of wood is compatible with human nature. For this reason, it is mostly preferred on surfaces where users come into contact with. The main factor for making this invention is the idea of combining wood and plastic in a mold with plastic injection method and producing the visible surfaces that the users come in contact with from
natural wood, and the invisible surfaces that the users do not come in contact with from recyclable plastic. Thus, the overall weight of the furniture will be reduced considerably, they will be more suitable for physical conditions and comfort will be provided thanks to the wood in the places where the users come into contact with.
In the applications of the prior art, plastic and its derivatives or metal furniture are used for outdoor spaces, and wood is preferred for indoors spaces. In addition, there is no industrial production method in the state of the art for producing furniture parts with the same characteristics and dimensions and using them in more than one area. For example, if the parts used in the seat of a chair can be used in the backrest and/or armrest in the same manner, this will greatly reduce the production cost of the relevant product.
A method is being proposed, which is the subject of the invention, that was developed to eliminate all the disadvantages of the applications of the known state of the art as described above, that enables the industrial production of furniture parts with better aesthetic properties than the ones presently known.
When all the technical literature and patent applications are examined for the applications that are given only as an example above and that we use to understand the prior art, no production method was found for injecting plastic raw materials on a wooden piece of a certain thickness (thin layer) placed inside the plastic injection mold with a special technique and no products was found produced with this method.
Objectives and Brief Description of the Invention
The objective of the invention is to propose a method that enables the industrial production of furniture parts with better aesthetic properties than the known ones, suitable for mass production, in order to eliminate the disadvantages of the applications in the known state of the art. While what makes the furniture look more aesthetically pleasing is the natural wood material used on the surfaces, it is the plastic material used that makes it more durable and lighter.
The objective of the invention is to provide a longer useful life for furniture elements. Such that, with the said production method, plastic and wood materials are processed together in the same mold and a much more stable product is obtained. Especially, by
means of the molding technique, undesirable situations such as water leakage are completely eliminated between these two parts in furniture used outdoors.
The objective of the invention is to provide a production method that lowers the production costs. The production cost has been reduced considerably by means of to the wood applied on the visible surfaces that the users come in contact with and the plastic material used on the invisible surfaces, instead of a higher costing furniture made of only wood material.
Another objective of the invention is to provide user comfort, by means of the fact that the material used on the visible surfaces that the users come in contact with is natural wood.
In order to fulfill the objectives described above, the invention provides for the production of all indoor and outdoor furniture as a whole or parts of these furniture from natural wood on the visible surfaces that the users come in contact with, and recyclable plastic material on the invisible surfaces that the users do not come in contact with by placing thin wood material into the plastic injection mold and injecting plastic raw materials on the placed wood material.
In order to realize all the advantages mentioned above, which will be understood more clearly from the detailed description below, the present invention provides many advantages with its mentioned features.
Detailed Description of the Invention
In this detailed explanation, a method is explained that has been developed to eliminate all the disadvantages of the applications of the known state of the art and that enables the industrial production of furniture elements with better aesthetic properties than the known ones, which is suitable for mass production.
In the method of the present invention, which has been developed specially to provide the mass production of parts of outdoor furniture (tables, chairs, lounge chairs, etc.), plastic raw material is injected with a special technique over the thin wooden material with a thickness changing preferably between 0.6 mm - 1.2 mm, placed inside the plastic injection mold, and the product is removed from the mold in one piece. Different analyses have been made on the mold regarding the removal of the material from the
mold and the placement of the wooden material inside the mold, and it was ensured that the product comes out of the mold in the most optimum manner. Here, plastic raw materials can be selected from derivatives having different properties. In the same way, the wooden piece to be used can be preferred to have different thicknesses and properties.
With the production method of the invention, it is intend to make mass production by producing furniture pieces with the same features and dimensions and using them in more than one area. For example, if the parts used in the seat of a chair can be used in the backrest and/or armrest in the same manner, this will greatly reduce the production cost of the relevant product.
Wooden material is not joined on the plastic body with traditional methods such as gluing. In this method, the process of producing the wooden material and plastic part in different processes and then joining them is avoided; this process is provided by using plastic injection method on the wooden material in a single mold.
The products to be produced with the production method of the invention will not be limited to furniture only. The definition of furniture description used in all expressions includes movable products that are used to furnish living, eating, working and sleeping places. For example, this method can be used for many pieces such as chairs, lounge chairs, tables and so on, and it can also be used in the production of products of different sizes and visual appearances in different sectors. In this sense, the use of the method presented by the invention in many alternative products will eliminate the disadvantages of existing production methods.
