Description

TITLE
“A CONNECTION ARRANGEMENT, A REVERSIBLE CONNECTION FORMED THEREFROM AND AN ELEMENT, SYSTEM AND METHOD FEATURING A CONNECTION ARRANGEMENT OR A REVERSIBLE CONNECTION”
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
[001] The present invention relates to a connection arrangement for connecting two surfaces, components, objects, or structures together. The present invention also relates to a reversible connection formed from the connection arrangement, and element, system and method featuring such a connection arrangement or reversible connection. The present invention further relates to an object or structure featuring a connection arrangement, reversible connection or element according to the present invention.
BACKGROUND
[002] It is often necessary to connect two surfaces, components or structures together in various settings (e.g. industrial, construction, commercial, residential or garden settings). A flexible or disassemblable connection is often desired, particularly with modern living encouraging concepts such as being modifiable to adapt to changing user needs and requirements, being recyclable or reusable to reduce waste and being portable to provide user convenience. To meet such demands, one or more flexible connections would be required to enable a residential, commercial or industrial structure, object, element or system to be conveniently disassembled, modified and/or relocated. For example, in home or building renovations, it may be desirable to reuse, relocate or repurpose a home, garden or construction structure or piece. To do so, it would require the structure or piece to have connections that would enable it to be disassembled and later reassembled to suit a different purpose or setting.
[003] In another instance, it may be necessary or desirable to erect a structure or complete a building or renovation project within a short space of time. This would only be achievable if the components or structural parts have connections which enable their efficient assembly.
[004] Whilst it is already difficult to provide a flexible or disassemblable connection, it is more challenging to provide such a connection with simplicity, a desired level of precision and/or strength of connection, yet these characteristics (particularly strength of connection) would be required in building, construction, landscape or home structures or components. [005] It can also be difficult to provide a flexible or disassemblable connection that can be applied to a variety of objects, structures elements or systems under a variety of settings (such as home, garden, construction or industry settings).
[006] The present invention attempts to provide a connection arrangement or a reversible connection that has at least one of the desired characteristics mentioned above, and to provide one or more elements, objects, structures or systems featuring such a connection arrangement, or such a reversible connection.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[007] In accordance with a first aspect of the present invention, there is provided a connection arrangement comprising a first edge portion and a corresponding edge portion, each edge portion comprising a plurality of wing pieces arranged along a connecting edge, each wing piece extending at an angle from the edge portion, wherein adjacent wing pieces of the same edge portion are orientated differently, and opposing wing pieces of respective edge portions are configured to match, or engage, one another in connecting the edge portions.
[008] In one embodiment, each wing piece extends at an angle from the edge portion in a manner such that each wing piece forms an angle of incidence, or angle of reflection, with an axis or plane (substantially) perpendicular to the edge portion. The angle of incidence or reflection is preferably in the range of from 5 to 65 degrees, or more preferably in the range of from 15 to 60 degrees, or 20 to 50 degrees, or most preferably in the range of froml5 to 45 degrees, or 20 to 40 degrees, e.g. 15, 21, 30, 36.3 or 42.8 degrees.
[009] In one embodiment, all wing pieces extend at an angle in the range of from 30 to 150 degrees (e.g. 40 degrees, 61.5 degrees or 135 degrees), more preferably from 40 to 130 degrees, relative to an edge portion, or a plane defined by the edge portion(s). In one embodiment, an acute angle formed between a (or each) wing piece and the edge portion(s), or a plane defined by the edge portion(s) is in the range of from 30 to 85 degrees, more preferably from 40 to 80 degrees, 45 to 85 degrees, or 50 to 70 degrees e.g. the acute angle may be 83, 70, 60, 50.7 or 45.2 degrees. The acute angle may be referred to as a dihedral angle. Therefore, two adjacent wing pieces may each have a dihedral angle in a range defined herein, e.g. 40 to 70 degrees.
[010] In one embodiment, two adjacent wing pieces of the same edge portion are oriented differently relative to one another, with an angle in the range of from 30 to 70 degrees, more preferably from 40 to 65 degrees, or most preferably from 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 52.5, 60 or 63 degrees) between the wing pieces. However, the wing pieces may have a similar or substantially the same dihedral angle (relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s)), the dihedral angle being in the range of 40 to 70 degrees, or more preferably 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 53, 60 or 62.5 degrees).
[Oi l] The opposing wing pieces of the respective edge portions extend, or are oriented, in a similar or substantially same direction and/or at a similar or substantially same dihedral angle (e.g. in the range of 50 to 65 degrees) relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s). In one embodiment, the opposing wing pieces of the respective edge portions are configured to substantially overlap with one another in connecting the corresponding edge portions.
[012] In one embodiment, one of two adjacent wing pieces of the same edge portion, and/or one of two opposing wing pieces of the respective edge portions, comprises a protruding lip at a distal end of the wing piece. In one embodiment, the plurality of wing pieces along each connecting edge has an alternating arrangement with one wing piece having a protruding lip and an adjacent wing piece without the protruding lip. In a preferred embodiment, the opposing wing pieces are configured such that one has a protruding lip for matching or engaging the other without the protruding lip.
[013] In a preferred embodiment, each wing piece along a connecting edge is a rigid/substantially rigid wing piece, or at least some of the wing pieces along the connecting edge are rigid/substantially rigid wing pieces. In one embodiment, all wing pieces of the respective edge portions are rigid wing pieces.
[014] In one embodiment, the connection arrangement further comprises at least one locking means for locking opposing wing pieces in position once the edge portions are connected. In one embodiment, the at least one locking means may be removable. In one embodiment, the at least one locking means may be a locking sleeve, which may be disposed or slidable over the opposing wing pieces. In one embodiment, a locking means may also be a fastening means.
[015] In one embodiment, an edge portion according to the first aspect of the present invention may comprise a planar surface or strip. A plurality of wing pieces extending at least from one side or terminal edge of the planar surface or strip, with the side or terminal edge also being the connecting edge. The plurality of wing pieces extending at an angle, or various angles, from an edge portion provides the edge portion with a three-dimensional shape or configuration. An edge portion and a corresponding edge portion according to the present invention may be provided simply in the form of edge portions. In one embodiment, the edge portion and the corresponding edge portion may be respectively affixed onto two objects or structures needing to be connected. For example, an edge portion may be affixed to one end, side or surface of one object/structure whilst the corresponding edge portion is affixed to an adjacent end, side or surface of the other object/structure, to thereby connect two objects/structures which would otherwise be difficult to connect.
[016] In another embodiment, an edge portion according to the present invention may be that (or integral to that) of a substantially two-dimensional surface or element, for example, an edge portion may be that of a panel, board or glass element, with a plurality of wing pieces extending from one side, end or edge of panel, board or glass element. In one embodiment, the first edge portion and the corresponding edge portion may be those of two surfaces, or two-dimensional elements. In another embodiment, it may be that one edge portion is that of a surface or two- dimensional element, whilst the other edge portion is integral to, or affixed to, a three- dimensional structure, object, or system. In one embodiment, the three-dimensional structure, object or system may comprise a planar surface, with a plurality of wing pieces extending from one side, end or edge of the planar surface. Therefore, a connection arrangement may be formed between two planar surfaces/elements, between a planar surface/element and a three-dimensional object, structure, or system or between two three-dimensional objects, structures or systems. For example, an edge portion may be that of a panel element whilst the corresponding edge portion may be that affixed to a block member, or that of (i.e. as an edge portion of) a planar surface of the block member, to thereby enable a connection arrangement between the panel element and the block member. In a preferred embodiment, the first edge portion and/or the corresponding edge portion according to the present invention may be that/those of a furniture, container, wall, fencing, cladding, decking, balustrade, window, door, roof, floor, landscape edging or shelter element, object, structure, or system.
[017] In accordance with a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided a reversible connection comprising a plurality of wing blades (or wings) disposed at an angle relative to one another along a joint formed between two edge portions, each edge portion comprises a plurality of wing pieces extending at an angle from the edge portion, wherein two opposing wing pieces of respective edge portions match, or engage, one another to form a wing blade (or wing) in connecting the two edge portions.
[018] In one embodiment, each wing piece extends at an angle from the edge portion in a manner such that each wing piece forms an angle of incidence, or angle of reflection, with an axis or plane (substantially) perpendicular to the edge portion (or to the joint). As a result, each wing blade also forms a similar or same angle of incidence or reflection as the wing pieces forming the wing blade. The angle of incidence or reflection (of the wing piece(s) and/or wing blade(s)) relative to the axis or plane (substantially) perpendicular to the edge portion is preferably in the range of from 5 to 65 degrees, or more preferably in the range of from 15 to 60 degrees, or 20 to 50 degrees, or most preferably in the range of from 15 to 45 degrees, or 20 to 40 degrees, e.g. 15, 21, 30, 36.3 or 42.8 degrees.
[019] In one embodiment, all wing pieces, or wing blades, extend at an angle in the range of from 30 to 150 degrees (e.g. 40 degrees, 61.5 degrees or 135 degrees), more preferably from 40 to 130 degrees, relative to the edge portion(s), or a plane defined by the edge portion(s). In one embodiment, an acute angle formed between each wing piece or wing blade and the edge portion(s) or a plane defined by the edge portion(s) is in the range of from 40 to 70 degrees, or more preferably from 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 53, 60 or 62.5 degrees).
[020] In one embodiment, the wing blades are oriented differently or are at an angle relative to one another, with the angle between two adjacent wing blades being in the range of from 30 to 70 degrees, more preferably 40 to 65 degrees, or most preferably 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 52.5, 60 or 63degrees) between the wing blades. However, the wing blades may have a similar or substantially same dihedral angle (relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s)), the dihedral angle being in the range of from 40 to 70 degrees, or more preferably from 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 53, 60 or 62.5 degrees).
[021] In one embodiment, a reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention further comprises at least one locking means for locking opposing wing pieces in a wing blade configuration. In one embodiment, the at least one locking means may be removable. In one embodiment, the at least one locking means may be a locking sleeve, which may be disposed or slidable over the one or more wing blades. In one embodiment, a locking means may also be a fastening means.
[022] In one embodiment, for a pair of connected opposing wing pieces, one comprises a protruding lip at a distal end of the wing piece. In this embodiment, the wing piece with a protruding lip matches or engages the opposing wing piece without a protruding lip in forming a wing blade when the two edge portions are connected.
[023] In a preferred embodiment, each wing blade along the joint is a rigid/substantially rigid wing blade, or at least some of the wing blades along the joint are rigid/substantially rigid wing blades. [024] As with the first aspect of the present invention, an (or each) edge portion forming a reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention with another edge portion may comprise a planar surface or strip. A plurality of wing pieces extend at least from one side or terminal edge of the planar surface or strip, with the side or terminal edge also being a connecting edge (connecting with that of the other edge portion to thereby form the joint according to the second aspect of the present invention). The wing blades disposed along the joint provide the reversible connection with a three-dimensional shape or configuration. A reversible connection according to the present invention may be provided alone (e.g. in a locked configuration). In this embodiment, each edge portion of the reversible connection may comprise a planar surface or strip which may be respectively affixed to two adjacent surfaces, elements, objects, structures, or systems to enable a reversible connection to be formed between the surfaces, elements, objects, structures or systems. In another embodiment, the edge portions may be respectively affixed to a planar surface/element and an adjacent three-dimensional object, structure, or system to enable a reversible connection to be formed thereacross. As with the first aspect of the present invention, in one embodiment, the edge portions forming the reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention may each be integral to a two-dimensional surface or element and a three-dimensional object, structure, or system (comprising a planar surface or element), respectively. In one embodiment, the edge portions may be those of two adjacent panel, board, or glass elements between which a reversible connection is formed. In one embodiment, a reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention may be one belonging to, or formed within, a furniture, container, wall, fencing, cladding, decking, balustrade, window, door, roof, floor, landscape edging or shelter object, structure, or system. In this instance, the reversible connection may be formed between two adjacent elements/pieces of the furniture, container, wall, fencing, cladding, decking, balustrade, window, door, roof, floor, landscape edging or shelter element, object, structure, or system.
[025] In accordance with a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided a panel or board element having at least one edge portion comprising a plurality of wing pieces arranged along a connecting edge for connecting with another panel or board element, each wing piece extending at an angle from the edge portion, wherein adjacent wing pieces of the same edge portion are oriented differently relative to one another.
[026] In one embodiment, each wing piece extends at an angle from the edge portion in a manner such that each wing piece forms an angle of incidence, or angle of reflection, with an axis or plane (substantially) perpendicular to the edge portion. The angle of incidence or reflection is preferably in the range of from 5 to 65 degrees, or more preferably in the range of from 15 to 60 degrees, or 20 to 50 degrees, or most preferably in the range of from 15 to 45 degrees, or 20 to 40 degrees, e.g. 15, 21, 30, 36.3 or 42.8 degrees.
[027] In one embodiment, all wing pieces extend at an angle in the range of from 30 to 150 degrees (e.g. 40 degrees, 61.5 degrees, or 135 degrees), more preferably from 40 to 130 degrees, relative to the edge portion, or a plane defined by the edge portion or by the panel element. In one embodiment, an acute angle formed between a (or each) wing piece and the edge portion, the panel or board element and/or a plane defined by the edge portion or by the panel or board element is in the range of from 30 to 85 degrees, or more preferably from 40 to 80 degrees, 45 to 85 degrees or 50 to 70 degrees, e.g. the acute angle may be 83, 70 60, 50.7, or 45.2 degrees. The acute angle may be referred to as a dihedral angle. Therefore, two adjacent wing pieces may each have a dihedral angle in a range defined herein, e.g. 40 to 70 degrees.
[028] In one embodiment, two adjacent wing pieces of the same edge portion are oriented differently relative to one another, with an angle in the range of from 30 to 70 degrees, more preferably 40 to 65 degrees, or most preferably 50 to 65 degrees between the wing pieces (e.g. an angle of 52.5, 60 or 63 degrees between two adjacent wing pieces). However, the wing pieces may have a similar or substantially the same dihedral angle (relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s) and/or by the panel or board element), the dihedral angle being in the range of 40 to 70 degrees, or more preferably 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 53, 60 or 62.5 degrees).
[029] In a preferred embodiment, each wing piece along a connecting edge is a rigid/substantially rigid wing piece, or at least some of the wing pieces along the connecting edge are rigid/substantially rigid wing pieces.
[030] In one embodiment, with (any) two adjacent wing pieces, one comprises a protruding lip at a distal end of the wing piece, whilst the other is absent of the protruding lip. In a further embodiment, the at least one edge portion of the panel or board element comprises a sequence of alternating wing pieces arranged along the edge portion, with two adjacent wing pieces being oriented differently and one of the adjacent wing pieces comprising a protruding lip at a distal end.
[031] In one embodiment, no wing piece has a protruding lip at a distal end. In another embodiment, each of the wing pieces may have an interlocking or interconnecting means for engaging with a wing piece of another panel or board element. [032] In one embodiment, each panel or board element according to the third aspect of the present invention has at least two edge portions, preferably opposing edge portions (which may, for example, be the opposing side, or opposing end, edge portions of a panel element), with each edge portion comprising a plurality of wing pieces arranged along a connecting edge for engaging with another panel or board element. A connecting edge may simply be a side or end edge of a panel or board element. With each edge portion, the wing pieces extending at an angle as described hereinabove, may be arranged in a continuous sequence, or may be spaced apart (equidistantly or unevenly spaced apart).

DESCRIPTION OF PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0101] Referring to Figure 1A, there is shown a connection arrangement 10 in accordance with the first aspect of the present invention. The connection arrangement 10 has a first edge portion 12A and a corresponding edge portion 12B, each comprising a plurality of wing pieces 14 (A or B) and 16 (A or B) arranged along a connecting edge 18 (A or B). Each wing piece extends at an angle from the edge portion 12 (A or B), or more particularly from the connecting edge 18 (A or B). Adjacent wing pieces along the same edge portion (i.e. wing pieces 14A and 16A, or 14B and 16B) extend in different directions or are oriented differently, and opposing wing pieces of respective edge portions (i.e. wing pieces 14A and 16B, or 16A and 14B) are configured to engage one another.
[0102] In this embodiment, all the wing pieces 14 and 16 extend at an angle relative to a lateral surface 20 (A or B) of the edge portion 12, or a plane defined by the surface(s) 20A and/or 20B. The surfaces 20A and 20B, or the edge portions 12A and 12B, may be or become co-planar (e.g. when connecting the two edge portions).
[0103] In this embodiment, the edge portions 12A and 12B have the same or similar features other than that the wing pieces are arranged in an opposite alternating sequence. Therefore, the following exemplary description relating to the edge portion 12A also applies to the corresponding edge portion 12B.
[0104] Referring to the edge portion 12 A, the wing pieces 14A and 16A extend from the connecting edge 18A at an angle relative to the planar surface 20A, or a plane defined by the surface 20A. The connecting edge 18A is also a side (or lateral) edge of the edge portion 12A.
[0105] Each wing piece 14 A or 16A extends at an angle from the edge portion 12A in a manner such that each wing piece forms an angle of incidence (in the instance of 16A), or angle of reflection (in the instance of 14A), relative to an axis or plane (not shown) perpendicular, or substantially perpendicular, to the surface 20A, or the connecting edge 18 A. The angle of incidence is in the range of 5 to 65 degrees, more preferably 15 to 45 degrees, preferably around 30 degrees. [0106] All wing pieces 14A and 16A extend at an angle in the range of from 30 to 150 degrees relative to the surface 20A. An acute angle formed between any one of the wing pieces 14A and 16A and a plane defined by the surface 20A is in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 55, 60 or 63.5 degrees).
[0107] All the wing pieces 14A extend inwardly over the surface 20A, whilst all the wing pieces 16A extend outwardly away from the surface 20A. Any two adjacent wing pieces along the connecting edge 18A are oriented differently (or extend in different directions) relative to one another, with an angle in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. approximately 60 degrees) between the wing pieces.
[0108] The wing pieces 14A and 16A are arranged in an alternating sequence along the connecting edge 18A (e.g. in the sequence of 14A, 16A, 14A, 16A, 14A). The wing pieces are adjacent to, or abutting, one another, or one end of a wing piece may be adjacent or abutting a different end of another wing piece. For any two adjacent wing pieces 14A and 16A, the dihedral angle (as in the instance of aeroplane wings) formed between the wing pieces 14A and 16A and a plane defined by the edge portion 12A (which plane may simply be surface 20A or a plane defined by surface 20A) is also in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. 55, 60 or 63.5 degrees), preferably around 60 degrees. Therefore, although any two adjacent wing pieces are oriented differently, they have (substantially) the same dihedral angle.
[0109] As shown in Figure 1A, wing pieces 14B and 16B arranged along the corresponding connecting edge 18B have the same angle configuration relative to one another and relative to a lateral surface 20B, or a plane defined by the surface 20B, as in the instances of wing pieces 14A and 16A. However, the wing pieces along the connecting edge 18B have an opposite alternating sequence (i.e. 16B, 14B, 16B, 14B, 14B), with wing pieces 16B extending inwardly (as with 16A), and wing pieces 14B extending outwardly (as with 14A), relative to the surface of the edge portion (20B in this instance; or 20A in the instance of 12A).
[0110] The opposite alternating arrangement of the wing pieces along the corresponding connecting edge 18B consistently provides pairs of opposing wing pieces which extend in a similar or substantially same direction, and/or at a similar or substantially same dihedral angle (e.g. in the range of 50 to 65 degrees) relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s). Therefore, in connecting the two edge portions 12A and 12B, the pairs of opposing wing pieces (14A and 16B, or 16A and 14B) of the respective edge portions are configured to match and/or engage with one another. [0111] In this embodiment, wing pieces 14 (A and B) and 16 (A and B) have an elongated flange-shaped body 22 and 24, respectively, extending in a lateral (width-wise) direction away from the respective connecting edges 18A and 18B. In this embodiment, the bodies 22 and 24 of the wing pieces are (substantially) rectangular in shape and (substantially) identical in length and width. However, each wing piece 16 (A and B) has a protruding lip portion 26 at a distal end of the wing piece, the protruding lip 26 extending the length of the body 24. The protruding lip 26 is configured to engage a longitudinal distal edge 28 of the body 22 of a wing piece 14 (A or B). In particular, the protruding lip 26 has a (substantially) flat inner edge portion 30 for engaging or contacting the (substantially) flat longitudinal distal edge 28 of a wing piece 14 (A or B). The protruding lip 26 also has an outer edge (or outer portion 32, which meets with a lateral face 34 of the body 22 of the wing piece 14 (A or B) via a curved corner 36. A protruding lip according to the present invention may be of various width or configuration. Preferably, the width or configuration of the protruding lip matches that of the distal edge of the opposing wing piece without the lip. In one embodiment, the protruding lip 26 is of a width that is approximately twice the width of the distal edge 28 of the opposing wing piece. In another embodiment, the protruding lip may have a width same as or similar to that of the distal edge 28.
[0112] As shown in Figure IB, all the wing pieces 14A extending from the same edge portion (or the same connecting edge) extend at the same angle and therefore are in alignment with one another, as with the instances of wing pieces 16A, 14B or 16B. Thus, only the two pairs of opposing wing pieces positioned towards a same end 38 (A and B) of the edge portions 12A and 12B are seen in Figure IB, being the pair 14A and 16B positioned closest to the end 38, followed by the next pair 16A and 14B. Two adjacent wing pieces along the same connecting edge 18A or 18B are oriented differently, with an angle in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. approximately 60 degrees) between the wing pieces (i.e. between 14A and 16A, or between 16B and 14B). Each opposing pair (e.g. 14A and 16B), or each adjacent pair (e.g. 14A and 16A), of wing pieces comprises one with a protruding lip 26 (14A or 14B) and one without (16B or 16A).
[0113] Each pair of opposing wing pieces (14A and 16B, or 16A and 14B) extend in a same or similar direction, or extend at a same or similar angle relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s) 12A and/or 12B.
[0114] In this embodiment, each wing piece is a rigid, or substantially rigid, wing piece, which cannot be bent or reconfigured. However, a wing piece, certain wing pieces, or all the wing pieces according to the present invention may take a different shape to that elongated/rectangular shape illustrated. Whichever shape the wing pieces may take, the opposing wing pieces according to the present invention are shaped/configured to match or engage one another (e.g. in a interlocking manner).
[0115] The edge portions 12A and 12B for forming a connection arrangement according to the first aspect of the present invention may be formed from a variety of materials (such as metal, wood, glass or polymer materials) and/or be the edge portions of a variety of objects, structures or systems, or the edge portions of home, garden, building or construction pieces or elements. Thus, a connecting arrangement according to the present invention is advantageously able to connect same or different materials, components, pieces, structures, objects, or systems together. With the connection arrangement 10, the edge portions 12A and 12B may be the edge portions of two panel or board elements, for example.
[0116] The connection arrangement of Figures 1A and IB may be provided simply as respective edge portions that are able to be connected. However, the connection arrangement may also be provided with, e.g. a locking means and/or a fastening means, in a set or kit with the edge portions. In another embodiment, the edge portions 12A and 12B may each be affixed to elements of an object, structure, or system through surfaces 20A and 20B in order to provide a connection arrangement. In another embodiment, an edge portion 12A may be that of, or may be provided to, a two-dimensional element, whilst edge portion 12B may be that of, or may be provided to a two-dimensional element or a three-dimensional object, structure, or system, for example, in order to form a connection thereacross. Therefore, the surface(s) 20A and/or 20B may simply be a (relative narrow) strip of a planar surface, or be part of a (planar) surface of a two-dimensional element and/or three-dimensional object, structure or system.
[0117] As shown in Figures 2A and 2B, and 3A and 3B, in forming a reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention, a first edge portion 12A and a corresponding edge portion 12B would converge and first connect at the connecting edges 18A and 18B, thereby forming a pivotable joint 40. The joint 40 permits hinged or pivoted movement of the opposing wing pieces (14A and 16B, or 14B and 16A) about the joint 40 towards one another, thereby enabling the respective bodies 22 and 24, and an inner edge portion 30 of the protruding lip and the distal edge 28, of the opposing wing pieces to meet. Both the inner edge portion 30 of a protruding lip 26 and a distal edge 28 of a wing piece 16 (A or B) are substantially flat, to thereby enable close contact of the distal ends of the wing pieces.
[0118] In the process of forming a reversible connection from a connection arrangement 10, the surfaces 20A and 20B of the edge portions 12A and 12B may gradually become co-planar. [0119] Referring to Figures 4A and 4B, there is shown a reversible connection 50 according to the second aspect of the present invention, formed from the connection arrangement 10.
[0120] With the reversible connection 50 formed, the first edge portion 12A and the corresponding edge portion 12B are co-planar (with the aligned surfaces 20A and 20B) and are connected by the engaged opposing wing pieces (14A and 16B, and 14B and 16A).
[0121] In forming a full connection, the flanged- shaped bodies 22 and 24 of the opposing wing pieces 14A and 16B, for example, press against each other, while the inner edge portion 30 of the protruding lip 26 of the wing piece 14A engages/rests on the distal edge 28 of the wing piece 16B, to thereby form a wing blade 52. In this embodiment, with the protruding lip 26 being of a width twice of that of the distal edge 28 of the opposing wing piece, each wing blade 52 formed has a flange portion at a distal end of the wing blade, the flange portion substantially perpendicular to the body of the wing blade. Advantageously, the wing blade 52 formed prevents or minimises lateral movement of the opposing wing pieces, thus providing a level of stability to the wing blade, and hence the connection.
[0122] As can be seen in Figure 4A, the plurality of wing blades 52 are disposed or arranged at an angle relative to one another along the joint 40.
[0123] As with the wing pieces in connection arrangement 10, the wing blades 52 form a substantially same acute angle relative to the plane defined by the co-planar surfaces 20A and 20B, the angle being in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. approximately 60 degrees). Thus, if the reversible connection 50 is laid in a horizontal position, all the wing pieces 14 and 16 and wing blades 52 have substantially the same height relative to the surfaces 20A and 20B.
[0124] As with the adjacent wing pieces along the same connecting edge in connection arrangement 10, two adjacent wing blades 52 along the joint 40 are oriented differently, with one extending towards the surface 20A and the other extending towards the surface 20B (or vice versa), but have the same dihedral angle relative to the surfaces 20A and 20B, or a plane defined by these co-planar surfaces.
[0125] Each wing blade 52 forms an angle of incidence (in this instance if oriented towards 20A), or angle of reflection (in this instance if oriented towards 20B), with an axis or plane (not shown) perpendicular to the co-planar edge portions 12A and 12B, with the angle of incidence or reflection being in the range of from 15 to 45 degrees, preferably around 30 degrees. [0126] As can be seen in Figure 4B, two adjacent wing blades 52 are disposed at an angle relative to one another, the angle between the wing blades 52 also being in the range of 50 to 65 degrees (e.g. approximately 60 degrees).
[0127] In this embodiment, all the wing blades 52 formed are also rigid wing blades, which cannot be bent or reconfigured.
[0128] To secure the opposing wing pieces together in a wing blade configuration, and to stabilise the reversible connection 50 formed, one or more locking means may be used to lock the wing pieces together (e.g. a locking sleeve - not shown in Figure 4).
[0129] In other embodiments, a connection arrangement, or a reversible connection, according to the present invention may have a number of variations, such as:
• having a fewer number of wing pieces or wing blades (e.g. only three) along a connecting edge or the joint formed by two abutting connecting edges, and/or the wing pieces or wing blades may be spaced apart (equidistantly or unevenly spaced);
• the opposing wing pieces may simply match one another without being further engaged via the protruding lip, or the opposing wing pieces may have mutual interlocking means (e.g. both have lips, or other means, that are interlocking);
• the opposing wing pieces may have different dimensions (e.g. one is smaller, or with a smaller surface area, than the other);
• the wing pieces or wing blades along the same connecting edge, or the same joint, may extend at various angles (whilst within the angle ranges defined herein above) relative to a plane defined by the edge portion(s), and/or relative to one another, e.g. some wing blades may have a dihedral angle of 50 degrees whilst other wing blades may have a dihedral angle of 60 degrees, or some wing blades may have an angle of 40 degrees relative to one another whilst other wing blades may have an angle of 47 degrees relative to one another; and/or
• a connecting edge may have two or more sets/rows of wing pieces radially extending from the connecting edge, all the wing pieces extending at a substantially same angle or at different angles (but all within the angle ranges defined herein above), relative to one another, or relative to one or more planes having the connecting edge as a longitudinal or lateral axis.
[0130] Referring to Figure 5, there is shown a panel or board element 110 according to the third aspect of the present invention. The panel or board element 110 has two opposing side (or lateral) edge portions 112A and 112B. Each edge portion comprises a plurality of wing pieces 114 (A or B) and 116 (A or B) extending from a connecting edge 118 (A or B). The edge portion 112A is (substantially) identical to the edge portion 12A, whilst the edge portion 112B is (substantially) identical to the edge portion 12B, of the connection arrange 10, therefore the wing pieces arranged along the edge portions 112A and 112B have the same features, angles, arrangements, or configurations as those arranged along the edge portions 12A and 12B, respectively.
[0131] Each edge portion 112 (A and/or B) may connect with an edge portion of another panel or board element according to the present invention also having a plurality of wing pieces arranged along a connecting edge but with an opposite alternating sequence to match or engage with the wing pieces extending from the edge portion 112A or 112B.
[0132] Since the edge portion 112B is already a corresponding edge portion to 112A (i.e. the panel or board element 110 already has an in-built connection arrangement 10), the panel or board element 110 may, in one instance, be curved around so that the edge portions meet and connect with one another, to form a structure with a circular, oval or oblong cross-sectional shape and comprising a reversible connection according to the second aspect of the present invention.
[0133] In this embodiment, one longitudinal side or end of the panel or board element 110 is folded over towards an inner surface 120 (extending in a longitudinal direction of the panel or board element), with the folded over portion extending along a curved longitudinal edge 122 (which may be an upper edge) of the panel or board element 110. To improve the flexibility of the panel or board element 110, the folded over portion is provided with a plurality of slits 124, thereby creating a plurality of folded portions 126. The width and depth of the slits may be the same for all the slits (as in this embodiment), or may vary. Preferably, the depth of the slits is such that a slit extends to only just below the curved edge 122 (or to an inner apex point), to thereby avoid the tearing of the panel or board element 110 along an axis of a slit 124.
[0134] Along an opposing longitudinal side or end edge 128 of the panel or board element 110, there is provided a ledge that is perpendicular to the surface 120. A plurality of slits in positions corresponding to those provided in the folded over portion are also provided in the ledge, resulting in a plurality of ledged portions 130. Similarly, the slits 124 in the ledge have the same width and depth as those in the folded over portion, with the depth being that the slits do not extend through to reach the longitudinal side or end edge 128 of the panel or board element 110, thereby avoiding tearing, and improving the strength, of the panel or board element 110.
[0135] The aligned positions of the slits 124 result in folded portions 126 of equal length to the ledged portions 130. Whilst the folded portions 126 and ledged portions 130 are generally in the form of a rectangular- shaped flange with rounded comers, the folded portions 126 and ledged portions 130 adjacent to the edge portions 112 A and 112B of the panel or board element 110 may have a smaller dimension and/or a bevelled edge, to accommodate for the edge portions 112, the angled wing pieces and/or a locking or fastening means.
[0136] With each rectangular- shaped ledged portion 130, an aperture 132 is provided in a midsection of the ledged portion 130.
[0137] In this embodiment, the wing pieces 114 and 116, the folded portions 126 and the ledged portions 130 are all provided on a same side of the panel or board element 110, being the side with the inner surface 120.
[0138] The panel or board element 110 may be manufactured from a variety of materials selected from the group consisting of metal (e.g. steel), wood, glass, polymer, stone, ceramic, concrete and/or combinations thereof.
[0139] In other embodiments, panel of board elements according to the third aspect of the present invention may be of various dimensions (including the wing pieces having different dimensions), and/or be absent of the folded portions and/or the ledged portions (with or without the apertures). In one embodiment, a panel or board element according to the present invention may have a plurality of wing pieces arranged along one, or both, of the longitudinal edges 122 and 128, which may be in addition to the set of wing pieces provided by the edge portions 112A and 112B. Other variations relating to a connection arrangement, or a reversible connection, according to the present invention as described hereinabove, may also be applied to a panel or board element according to the present invention.
[0140] A panel or board element 110, or a variation thereof according to the present invention, may form a connection arrangement, or a reversible connection, according to the present invention with another panel or board element according to the present invention (including another element 110), or with an object, structure or system that has an edge portion comprising a plurality of wing pieces, as with an edge portion of the present invention. [0141] For a panel or board system according to the fourth aspect of the present invention, a plurality of panel or board elements 110, and/or variations thereof according to the third aspect of the present invention, may be provided. For example, the plurality of elements 110 may be provided in a package and, optionally, with one or more locking means and/or fastening means according to the present invention also being provided. Advantageously, the packaged or packageable system according to the present invention can be modular, efficient and cost- effective to manufacture, assemble and/or disassemble. The packaged or packageable system may also be flexible in that if a large structure is to be built from the panel or board elements of the present invention, the number and dimension of relevant components in the package (e.g. the number and/or dimension of the panel elements and/or the locking and/or fastening means) may be easily varied/adapted depending on the size of the end structure or system. The one or more panel or board elements, and/or the locking and/or fastening means, according to the present invention may be manufactured by injection and/or precision moulding processes, for example.
[0142] A plurality of panel or board elements 110, and/or variation thereof according to the present invention, may be connected with one another to thereby provide a panel or board system according to the fifth aspect of the present invention, comprising one or more reversible connections according to the second aspect of the present invention.
[0143] A panel or board system comprising a plurality of panel or board elements 110, or variations thereof, may be a panel or board system for forming, or may simply be, a furniture, container, wall, fencing, cladding, decking, balustrade, window, door, roof, floor, or landscape edging or shelter object, structure or system. In the instance of a wall system or structure, for example, it may be a retaining wall (e.g. for gardens), or a barrier wall such as a fire, flood or acoustic barrier wall, or a fence such as a dividing fence or barrier fence. To form these objects, systems or structures, additional locking means and/or fastening means may be provided to lock the opposing wing pieces together, and/or to fasten the panel or board elements to one another and/or to another object, structure, or surface.
[0144] A panel or board element 110 according to the present invention may also be an element of a landscape edging (e.g. a garden edging) system according to the sixth or seventh aspect of the present invention, or be used to construct a landscape edging system according to the eighth aspect of the present invention. In any of these instances, one or more fastening means and/or locking means are also provided or incorporated. [0145] A panel or board system comprising panel or board elements according to the third aspect of the present invention may also be used to provide a shelter structure, or components thereof. The shelter structure may be a temporary shelter structure, providing shelter to human, animal, plant or physical objects (such as vehicles).
[0146] As shown in Figures 6A and 6B, when a panel or board element 110 is one belonging to a landscape edging system, a panel or board element 110 may accommodate a fastening means including a pin housing 140. The pin housing 140 has a wedge bracket- shaped body extending between a flat (or chisel-like) end 142 and an opposing broad end 144. The body has an elongated rectangular back piece 146, and two opposing elongated triangular-shaped side pieces 148. The broad end 144 comprises a small rectangular- shaped end piece having a substantially centrally disposed aperture 150. At a mid-section of the back piece 146, and a section closer to the flat end 142, there are provided two square-shaped flaps 152A and 152B, respectively, both of which comprise a substantially centrally disposed aperture 150. Each flap 152 also has a collar portion 154 surrounding the aperture 150. A flap (152A or 152B) has a default position or orientation aligned with a longitudinal axis of the back piece 146. However, a flap 152A may be pulled or pivoted to a levelled position (perpendicular to the back piece 146), hinged on a proximal edge connecting the flap piece to the back piece 146 of the pin housing 140. When the flap(s) 152 (A and/or B) is/are at a levelled position, the aperture(s) in the flap(s) is/are aligned with that at the broad end 144 of the pin housing.
[0147] As can be seen in Figure 6A and 6B, the pin housing 40 (being a separate component) may be supported or accommodated by the inner face 120 of the panel or board element 110. In so doing, the pin housing 140 may have a body length near that of (or slightly shorter than) the width of the panel or board element 110. In positioning the pin housing 140, the flat end 142 may be disposed behind a folded portion 126, or inserted in the space between the folded portion 126 and the inner surface 120, of the panel or board element 110. The broad end 144 of the pin housing 140 may be supported by a ledged portion 130 directly opposing a folded portion 126 shielding the flat end 142 of the pin housing 140. When in position, the aperture 150 at the broad end 144 of the pin housing 140 is aligned with the aperture 132 of the ledged portion 130 supporting the pin housing 140. These apertures may also be aligned with those of the flap(s) 152 (A and/or B).
[0148] Referring to Figures 6C and 6D, there can be seen a nail pin 160 having a disc-shaped pin head 162 and an elongated helical (threaded) body 164 with a pointed tip 166. The nail pin 160 may extend through the apertures 150 of the flap 152A and broad end 144, as well as the aperture 132 of the ledged portion 130 of the panel or board element 110 supporting the pin housing 140. The nail pin 160 may extend fully through until the pin head 162 rests against the collar portion 154 of the flap 152A, as seen in Figure 6D. The excess portion of the pin bodyl64 (e.g. below the ledged portion 130) may be pressed into a ground surface, foundation or medium such as soil or sand, thereby fastening the panel or board element 110 to the ground, for example.
[0149] Referring to Figure 6E, a further fastening means such as a chain 170 may be connected to the pin housing 140 via the aperture 150 of the flap 152B, thus the panel or board element 110, as a landscaping edging panel or a weight-bearing element (such as a retaining wall element), may be further supported by being chained to a post, for example.
[0150] By having a plurality of corresponding folded portions 126 and apertured ledged portions 130, a panel or board element 110 may accommodate multiple fastening sets with each including a pin-housing 140, a nail pin 160 and, optionally, a chain 170, to ensure that the panel or board element 110 is securely fastened at multiple locations. The number of fastening sets may depend on the length or size of the panel or board element 110, the nature of the material (e.g. steel or polymeric fibre type) and its end application (e.g. for a garden edging system, or a flood wall). Advantageously, with a panel or board element 110, a fastening set may also be repositioned to be accommodated by a different folded portion and corresponding ledged portion as required, e.g. to withstand a force applied from a certain direction.
[0151] To provide a landscape edging system according to the sixth or seventh aspect of the present invention, or to form a landscape edging system according to the eighth aspect of the present invention, a kit or modular pack comprising a plurality of panel or board elements 110, or variations thereof, together with a plurality of the fastening sets (at least with each set including a pin housing and a nail pin) and a plurality of locking means (e.g. in the form of a locking sleeve for locking the wing pieces together) according to the present invention, may be provided.
[0152] Referring to Figures 7 A to 7D, there is shown a system 200 comprising a reversible connection 50 according to the second aspect of the present invention. The system 200 may be a panel or board system according to the fifth aspect of the present invention, or a landscape edging system according to the eighth aspect of the present invention.
[0153] The system 200 comprises two panel or board elements 110-1 and 110-2 (i.e. with all the features, or possible features, associated with a panel or board element 110 illustrated in Figures 5 and 6 A to 6E). The two panel or board elements are co-planar and are connected via the edge portions 112B of the element 110-1 and 112A of the element 110-2, forming a reversible connection 50 as illustrated in Figure 4, with the wing blades 52 being disposed at an angle relative to one another.
[0154] A locking means in the form of a locking sleeve 180 may be slid over the plurality of wing blades 52, as shown in Figure 7A, until the locking sleeve fully covers all the wing blades 52, as seen in Figure 7B.
[0155] In this embodiment, the locking sleeve 180 takes a triangular prism shape, but without an apex (or vertex) portion of the triangular prism, thus resulting in a tapered bracket-like body. The body comprises an elongated rectangular body plate 182 disposed between two tapered opposing side members 184, providing two opposing corners 186. Near one end 188 of the locking sleeve 180, and on the body plate 182, there is provided a flap piece 190 with a centrally disposed aperture 192. In another embodiment, a locking sleeve may not have a flap piece 190.
[0156] The side members 184 of the locking sleeve 180 may be of different shape or configuration. However, each side member 184 is angled to substantially correspond to the dihedral angle of the wing pieces 116A and 116B, or the wing blades 52, relative to a plane defined by the lateral surfaces 120A and 120B.
[0157] As shown in Figure 7C, in one embodiment of the present invention, each side member 184 may be bent, or form a U-bend shape. In one embodiment of the present invention with the width of the protruding lip 26 being twice that of the distal edge 28, the additional width (or the flange portion of the lip 26) may support a distal end of the bent portion of a side member 184. The tapered angle of a side member 184 relative to the body plate 182 (with the tapered angel being the same as or similar to the dihedral angle of the wing blade) enables a lateral surface of the bent portion of the side member 184 to press against the body 24 of the wing piece 116A or 116B (without the protruding lip). In a counter action, the flange portion (or a distal edge of the flanged portion) of the lip 26 also presses against an inner surface of the side member 184 of the locking sleeve 180. The depth of the locking sleeve 180 is such that the corners 36 of the wing blades 52 would press against an inner surface of the body plate 182 of the locking sleeve 180. Advantageously, the tapered angle of the opposing side members 184, the angle of the wing blades relative to one another and the general shape and depth of the locking sleeve 180 form a substantially triangular arrangement ensuring that the wing pieces would remain in a ‘pressed- together’ and stablished wing blade configuration, with the wing blades being locked in position by the locking sleeve (which is slidable over the wing blades). [0158] As shown in Figure 7D, in an embodiment in which the protruding lip is of the same width as the distal edge of the opposing wing piece, each side member 184 of the locking sleeve 180 may simply be in the form of a side plate (i.e. without the bent portion). In this embodiment, each side plate 184 is also angled to substantially correspond to the dihedral angle of the wing pieces 116A and 116B, or the wing blades 52, relative to a plane defined by the lateral surfaces 120A and 120B. The angled side plates 184, and the relative angle between the wing blades 152, enable distal ends of the wing blades 152 to firmly press against the corners 186 of the locking sleeve, with the wing pieces 116 (A and B) pressing against the tapered side plates 184 of the locking sleeve 180. This, therefore, ensures that the opposing wing pieces would not move apart but remain in a wing blade configuration, and that the locking sleeve 180 would also be firmly engaged with (although slidable over) the wing blades 52.
[0159] Disposed between an angled side plate 184 and a wing piece (e.g. 114A) having a protruding lip (of the same width as that of the opposing wing piece), the opposing wing piece (e.g. 116A) is firmly locked in position (being pressed by the opposing wing piece (e.g. 114A) on one side and the angled side plate 184 on the other).
[0160] Advantageously, the features of the protruding lip 126 and the locking sleeve 180 provide stability to the reversible connection 50 even when force is applied from one or all of the three directions, being i) the lateral direction (with the protruding lip preventing an engaged opposing wing piece to slide apart laterally), ii) the vertical direction (with the outside corners 36 of the wing pieces 114A and 114B pressing against an inner side of the body plate 182), and iii) a direction perpendicular to the joint 40. In fact, when a force is applied from the perpendicular direction, it may even assist to strengthen the reversible connection 50, since the connection 50 would be ‘sandwiched’, i.e. being stabilised by the locking sleeve 180 on one side and further stabilised by the force applied on the opposing side.
[0161] Advantageously, the present invention provides a reversible connection that is easy to form, easy to reverse and, once locked in position with a locking means (such as a locking sleeve 180), endowed with the strength to withstand a significant force of impact.
[0162] Advantageously also, the system 200 (or variations thereof) according to the present invention is highly versatile. For example, the system 200 may be used or applied in a horizontal direction (e.g. to provide a deck or floor structure). In these instances, the wing blades 114 and 116 may be arranged along the longitudinal edges (e.g. 122 and 128 as shown in Figure 5) of the panel or board elements 110, and therefore the folded portions and/or ledged portions may be omitted or be absent from the panel or board elements.
[0163] A system 200 (or variations thereof) may also be used in a vertical direction, to provide various structures such as a wall, fencing, cladding, balustrade, window, door, or landscape edging structure. Depending on the structure to be provided, or the configuration required, a plurality of wing blades 114 and 116 may be arranged along the lateral and/or the longitudinal edges of the panel or board elements 110.
[0164] A system 200 (or variations thereof) may also be used in a sloping direction, e.g. to provide a roof structure.
[0165] In providing a desired structure, depending on the size/dimension of the structure required, a system 200 may be easily expanded (in horizontal or vertical direction, for example) by connecting further numbers of the panel or board elements 110 at the edge portions 112 comprising the wing pieces 114 and 116. A panel or board element 110, or a system 200, according to the present invention may act as a modular unit enabling convenient modular construction of a desired structure.
[0166] Due to the unique ability of the systems of the present invention to withstand a large force/impact from a direction perpendicular to the joint 40, a system of the present invention, such as a system 200 or an expanded system 200, is suitable to act as or provide structures such as floors, retaining walls, flood walls, or landscape edgings that need to withstand the force/impact of human, soil or water movement.
[0167] As a fencing or a landscape edging (such as garden edging) system, for example, a fastening means such as a chain 170 may be connected to the flap 190 of each locking sleeve 180, so that the system may be chained to one or more posts, for example, to maintain the panel or board elements in a vertical position, as illustrated in the system 200 of Figure 7D.
[0168] In a system 20 illustrated in Figures 8 A and 8D, which may be a landscape edging system, an embodiment of a locking sleeve 180 is shown, which embodiment has an elongated body, extending beyond the lateral width of the panel or board elements 110-1 and 110-2, and a pointed end 194, opposite to the flat end 188. In this embodiment, the locking sleeve 180 serves both as a locking means and a fastening means, to assist securing the system 200 to a ground, for example, by pressing the pointed end 194 into the ground, until the ledged portions 130 rest on a ground surface. [0169] To further strengthen the system 200 and maintain it in a vertical position, a chain 170 may be connected to the apertured flap 190 near the flat end 188 of the locking sleeve 180. The chain 170 permits a pulling force to be applied to the locking sleeve 190 firmly disposed over the wing blades, thereby enabling the system 200 to be fastened/pulled in a rearward direction (e.g. in order to maintain a vertical position of the panel or board elements).
[0170] The system 200 may also be further fastened/strengthened by incorporating one or more fastening sets comprising a pin and pin housing according to the present invention (e.g. pin 160 and pin housing 140 as illustrated in Figures 6A to 6E).
[0171] Advantageously, with the wing pieces, folded portions, ledged portions, fastening means and locking means all being accommodatable by the inner surfaces 120 of the system 200, an outer side/face of the system 200 may be aesthetically pleasing and only showing joints 40 (or the seams).
[0172] Advantageously, depending on an end structure to be provided or constructed, the dimension of a system 200 (or variations thereof) may be easily varied, e.g. expanded by adding further panel or board elements (and further locking and/or fastening means), varying the dimensions of the components of the system 200 and/or the placement of the wing pieces (e.g. along a longitudinal and/or a lateral edge of a panel or board element). Structures (e.g. garden edging structures) of varying shapes/configurations may also be constructed, as the slits in the folded portions assist to improve the flexibility of a panel or board element according to the present invention.
[0173] In one embodiment, there is provided a method of constructing a panel or board system comprising a plurality of panel or board elements according to the third aspect of the present invention, the method comprising the steps of: i) positioning a first panel or board element as desired; and ii) connecting a second panel or board element to the first panel or board element at the edge portions, with the opposing wing pieces engaging or matching one another to form one or more wing blades. The method may at least comprise a further step of locking the opposing wing pieces, or one or more wing blades, in position, e.g. by sliding a locking sleeve over the wing blades. In one embodiment, the panel or board elements may be panel or board elements 110. In one embodiment, the panel or board elements are absent of the folded and/or ledged portions. The steps may be repeated until a panel or board system of a desired dimension, shape and/or configuration is constructed. [0174] In one embodiment, there is provided a method of constructing a system 200, which may be a landscape edging system, the method comprising at least the steps of: a) positioning a first panel or board element 110 on a ground surface; b) fastening the panel or board element to the ground surface using one or more fastening means (which may be one or more fastening sets, each including a pin housing 140 and a nail pin 160); c) connecting a second panel or board element 110 to the first panel or board element by connecting the respective edge portions(e.g. 112B to 112A); and d) locking the panel or board elements in position by applying a locking means (e.g. 180, which may also be a fastening means or have fastening provisions). The method may comprise additional fastening means or steps. The method may comprise a step of positioning the second panel or board element on the ground surface relative to the first panel or board element before connecting the respective edge portions of the elements. The method may comprise a step of positioning a fastening means (e.g. a pin housing 140 on a ledged portion 130, or a pin 160 through the apertures 150 and 132) after positioning the first or second panel or board element on the ground surface. The method may comprise a step of chaining a fastening and/or locking means to a support (e.g. a post). Any of the steps of the method may be repeated until a system 200, e.g. a landscape edging system, of a desired dimension, shape and/or configuration is constructed.
[0175] Advantageously, the present invention provides
• a connection arrangement that is easy/efficient to assemble and with extensive applications;
• a reversible connection that is easy/efficient to disassemble and yet with a strong connection that may endure a significant force of impact; and
• panel or board elements and systems that are modular, flexible, and cost-effective to manufacture, transport, assemble and/or disassemble, to thereby provide a wide range of temporary or permanent objects, pieces, structures or systems in various settings (such as home, garden, building/construction, industry, outdoor or remote settings).
[0176] Modifications and variations as would be apparent to a skilled addressee are deemed to be within the scope of the present invention.
