Description
A DENTAL RUBBER DAM CLAMP
TECHNICAL FIELD
[01] The present disclosure relates to dental tools and instruments, and more particularly to a dental rubber dam clamp having a matrix band.
BACKGROUND
[02] Tooth isolation is mandatory for successful functional restoration and successful root canal treatment. Tooth build up prior to root canal treatment is considered important to guarantee success. However, it is time consuming and less cost effective. Matrix band is a cylindrical metal or plastic band with a special clamp or holder (the matrix retainer); it is seated over a tooth so that the restorative material can flow into the prepared cavity. It is also used for placement and contouring of certain restorative materials.
[03] Rubber dam is a sheet of thin latex rubber used by dentists to isolate a tooth or teeth from the fluids of the mouth during dental treatment, held in place by a clamp and frame.
[04] Using the conventional matrix bands and rubber dams during endodontic operations would require the patient to visit the dentists’ multiple times given the nature of these matrices and dam. Thus, providing a tool that achieves tooth isolation and as well as acting as a matrix band will help to restore tooth effectively and efficiently in one visit to the dentist would definitely reduce time and cost with more predictable results.
