Definitions
- Some vapour generating devices generate a vapour or aerosol from a vaporisable liquid, for example using a heater coil which applies heat to a liquid held in a wick in order to vaporise the liquid.
- Spitting of liquid can occur when liquid builds up on the heater coil and instead of the liquid being fully vaporised, large droplets are ejected into the air stream and inhaled by the user. This is often felt by hot liquid reaching the consumer’s oral cavity, which can be an unpleasant experience. Larger puffs by the user are more likely to result in spitting due to the higher air velocity carrying droplets to the user’s mouth. Furthermore the larger force pulls on the liquid in the reservoir and thus oversaturates the wick and heater coil, leading to subsequent spitting events.

Un dispositif de génération de vapeur (10) comprend : un corps tubulaire (12) comprenant un alésage (14) et ayant un axe longitudinal (Z) ; un dispositif de chauffage (26) conçu pour vaporiser un liquide (L) ; un embout buccal (16) situé au niveau d'une extrémité de l'alésage (14) et conçu pour qu'un utilisateur applique une force d'aspiration (F) pour aspirer le liquide vaporisé (V) le long de l'alésage (14) depuis le dispositif de chauffage (26) jusqu'à l'embout buccal (16) ; et des premier et second déflecteurs (28, 30) situés dans l'alésage (14) entre le dispositif de chauffage (26) et l'embout buccal (16). Les premier et second déflecteurs (28, 30) sont décalés l'un par rapport à l'autre autour de l'axe longitudinal (Z) et décalés l'un par rapport à l'autre le long de l'axe longitudinal (Z). Chacun des premier et second déflecteurs (28, 30) est mobile par la force d'aspiration (F) pour obstruer partiellement la largeur de l'alésage (14), ce qui amène le liquide vaporisé (V) à suivre une voie sinueuse autour des premier et second déflecteurs (28, 30) vers l'embout buccal (16) et bloque le passage de gouttes de liquide non vaporisé (Ld1, Ld2) vers l'embout buccal (16).
