Description

LATERAL GRILLING SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION
[001] This application claims priority to United States Provisional Patent Application No. 63/210,028, filed June 13, 2021, the entire contents of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
FIELD
[002] The present subject matter relates to grilling systems. More particularly, the present subject matter relates to lateral grilling systems.
BACKGROUND
[003] Grilling systems currently known in the art are used for grilling various types of food products, for example, meat, fish, vegetables and the like. Fig. 1 schematically illustrates, according to an exemplary embodiment, a front view of prior art grilling system. The prior art grilling system 1 comprises a heat source 12, and a food support 14 positioned above the heat source 12. The support 14 is configured to hold at least one food product 500 above the heat source 12, thus allowing grilling of the at least one food product 500. Various types of heat source 12 are commonly used, namely heat sources 12 based on solid fuel 122, like burning wood, charcoal, and the like, as shown in Fig. 1, gas burners, electric heaters and the like. The exemplary prior art grilling system 1, shown in Fig. 1, comprises a food support 14 in a form of a grill net 14. In addition, the exemplary prior art grilling system 1, shown in Fig. 1, further comprises a container 124 configured to contain the solid fuel 122, and hold the food support 14, in a form of a grill net, above the solid fuel 122. Thus, the at least one food product 500 is held above the heat source 12 and thereby are heated and grilled.
[004] One drawback of the prior art grilling systems 1 is that liquids, like oily substances and juices, drip from the at least one food product 500 on the heat source 12. When the heat source 12 is based on solid fuel 122, for example, the dripping liquid falls directly on the burning solid fuel 122, thus causing formation of smoke that may have a deleterious effect on human beings and animals in the vicinity of the grilling system 1 when in action, as well as deleterious environmental effects. In addition, when the heat source 12 is based on gas burners, electric heaters and the like, the dripping liquid from the at least one grilled food product 500 can additionally dirty the gas burners and electric heaters and other components of the grilling system 1, thus requiring extensive cleaning of the grilling system 1, particularly the gas burners, or the electric heaters, after usage.

[036] For clarity, non-essential elements were omitted from some of the drawings.
[037] The present subject matter provides a grilling system that abolishes the drawbacks of prior art grilling systems, namely production of smoke and dirtying the heat source.
[038] According to one aspect of the present subject matter, the present subject matter provides a lateral grilling system, comprising: a heat source; and at least one food support positioned laterally to the heat source.
[039] Referring now to Fig. 2, schematically illustrating, according to an exemplary embodiment, a front view of a schematic lateral grilling system comprising a heat source based on solid fuel. According to one embodiment, the lateral grilling system 2 comprises a heat source 22 based on solid fuel 222, like burning wood, burning charcoal and the like. According to this embodiment, the heat source 22 is in a form of a container 224 configured to contain the solid fuel 222. According to another embodiment, the lateral grilling system 2 can comprise a base 26 that is configured to support the heat source 22. In addition, the heat source 22 comprises walls that define the structure of the heat source 22, or the structure of the container 224 in the embodiment shown in Fig. 2. According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the heat source 22 in a form of a container 224 comprising a first lateral wall 2242 and a second lateral wall 2244, as well as a front wall and a back wall that are shown hereinafter. Furthermore, the at least one food support 24 is attached to at least one of the lateral walls of the heat source 22, and is configured to hold at least one food product 500 aside at least one of the lateral walls, in a manner that allows grilling of the at least one food product 500. In the exemplary lateral grilling system 2 shown in Fig. 2, at least one food support 24 is attached aside the first lateral wall 2242, and at least one food support 24 is attached aside the second lateral wall 2244. However, it should be noted that this embodiment is only exemplary, and the at least one food support 24 can be attached aside any one if the walls of the heat source 22.
[040] According to the embodiment shown in Fig. 2, the at least one food support 24 is a hook 246 configured to hold a skewer aside the wall of the heat source 22. Thus, at least one food product 500 that is held by the skewer is exposed to the heat emitted through the wall of the heat source 22. Another embodiment of the food support 24 is shown in Fig. 3, hereinafter.
[041] Fig. 2, and also Fig. 3 and 4, hereinafter, show the direction of the heat that is emitted from the heat source, with arrows 902 and 904. Thus, the heat is emitted toward both the first lateral wall 2242 and the second lateral wall 2244, and then further to the at least one food product 500 that is held aside the first lateral wall 2242, or the second lateral wall 2244, or both the first lateral wall 2242 and the second lateral wall 2244.

[057] According to one embodiment, shown in Figs. 6A and 6C, the lateral grilling system 2 is based on gas heating. Thus, according to this embodiment, the heat source 22 is based on gas heating. Instead of at least one electrical heating element 62, the heat source comprises at least one gas heating element 72, for example at least one gas burner; and instead of the electrical connection element 64 that is configured to connect the at least one electrical heating element 62 to an electrical power source 66, the lateral grilling system 2 that is based on gas heating, comprises a gas connection element 74 that is configured to connect the at least one gas heating element 72 to a gas source 76, for example a gas tank, a gas canister and the like.
[058] Referring now to Fig. 7, schematically illustrating, according to an exemplary embodiment, a front view of a lateral Shawarma grilling system. Shawarma is dish comprising meat cut into thin slices, stacked on a cone-like, or cylinder-like, shape and roasted on a rotating skewer. As can be seen in Fig. 7, a lateral wall, for example a first lateral wall 2242 of the heat source 22, as described above, transmits heat to a rotating skewer 402, on which at least one food product 500, in a form of sliced meat, is stacked. Thus, according to this embodiment, the at least one food support 24 is at least one rotating skewer 402. All the embodiments of the lateral grilling system 2 described above pertain also to the lateral Shawarma grilling system.
[059] Referring now to Figs. 8A-B, schematically illustrating, according to an exemplary embodiment, a perspective view of a lateral Shawarma grilling system comprising one rotating skewer. The lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Fig. 8A, comprises a heat source 22 according to the embodiments described above, a rotating skewer 402 positioned aside at least one of the lateral walls, for example aside the first lateral wall 2242, and a rotation element 404 configured to rotate the rotating skewer 402. Any type of rotation element 404 is under the scope of the present subject matter, for example an electrical motor. According to one embodiment, a collection vessel 28, as described above, is positioned under the rotating skewer 402 for collecting liquids that drip from the meat stacked on the rotating skewer 404.
[060] The lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Fig. 8B, is similar to the lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S shown in Fig. 8A, except that Fig. 8B shows also the food product 500 in a form of sliced meat that is stacked on the rotating skewer 402.
[061] Referring now to Fig. 8C, schematically illustrating, according to an exemplary embodiment, a front view of a lateral Shawarma grilling system comprising one rotating skewer and at least one hook for holding a skewer. The lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Fig. 8C, is similar to the lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Figs. 8A and 8B, except that it further comprises at least one hook 246, as described above. The rotating skewer 402 is positioned aside one of the lateral walls, for example aside the first lateral wall 2242, and the at least one hook 246 is positioned aside the other lateral wall, for example side the second lateral wall 2244. The at least one hook 246 is configured to hold a skewer 400. In this way, the lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Fig. 8C, is configured to roast shawarma at one side of the heat source 22, and at least one food product 500 held by at least one skewer 400 at another side of the heat source 22.
[062] Referring now to Fig. 8D, schematically illustrating, according to an exemplary embodiment, a front view of a lateral Shawarma grilling system comprising two rotating skewers. The lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Fig. 8D, is similar to the lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S, shown in Figs. 8A-B, except that it comprises two rotating skewers 402 - a first rotating skewer 402-1 aside the first lateral wall 2242, and a second rotating skewer 402-2 aside the second lateral wall 2244. In addition, a collection vessel 28 is positioned under the first rotating skewer 402-2 and the second rotating skewer 402-2. This embodiment of the lateral Shawarma grilling system 2S is advantageous over prior art devices for preparing Shawarma because it allows preparing a double amount of Shawarma, and more efficient utilization of the heat emitted from the heat source 22.
[063] More generally speaking, the lateral grilling system 2 of the present subject matter is advantageous over prior art grilling devices and system for several reasons. The lateral grilling system 2 does not allow production of smoke because liquids that drip from the at least one food product 500 do not reach the heat source 22. In addition, there is a more efficient utilization of the heat emitted from the heat source 22, because a larger amount of food product 500 can be heated with the lateral grilling system 2 compared to prior art grilling systems and devices.
