Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to an optical connector cleaning tool for cleaning ferrule end faces of optical connector plugs.
- Optical communication networks use optical connectors to connect optical fibers.
- SC connectors and LC connectors using cylindrical ferrules are used.
- MPO Multi-Fiber Push On
- an optical fiber is inserted into an optical fiber hole of a ferrule and adhesively fixed, and then the end face of the ferrule is polished and built into an optical connector plug. Inside the optical connector plug, the ferrule is in a state of being pressed by a spring installed at the rear end of the ferrule.
- the optical fibers held by the ferrules are brought into contact with each other without gaps due to the pressing force of the spring, resulting in optical fiber connections with low loss and high return loss. is realized.
- the connection characteristics deteriorate such as increased connection loss and increased reflection, resulting in optical loss. This is a factor that degrades the signal transmission performance. Therefore, cleaning of the ferrule end face of the optical connector is performed before connection.
- a cleaning tool (see, for example, Patent Document 1) that uses a cleaning sheet to clean the end face of the ferrule of the optical connector plug is known.
- a cleaning tool (see, for example, Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 2002-101000) that cleans the end face and side surface of the ferrule of the optical connector plug by arranging a cleaning cloth inside a recess into which the ferrule of the optical connector plug is inserted.
- a cleaning tool that uses a cleaning thread to clean the end face of the ferrule of the optical connector plug and the optical connector plug incorporated in the optical connector adapter (see, for example, Patent Document 3).
- the optical fiber end face is exposed at the ferrule end face. is being considered.
- the end face of the optical fiber is covered with a film of a refractive index matching material on the end face of the ferrule.
- the present disclosure has been proposed in view of the above circumstances, and aims to provide an optical connector cleaning tool that can clean the ferrule end face with an appropriate force regardless of the operator.
- the present disclosure provides an optical connector cleaning tool that cleans the ferrule end face of an optical connector plug by sliding a cleaning sheet while contacting the ferrule end face of an optical connector plug.
- a plug holding portion for holding the connector plug and a pressing portion for applying a predetermined pressing force between the ferrule end face and the cleaning sheet are provided.
- the optical connector cleaning tool of the present disclosure includes: a housing for storing the cleaning sheet; an opening that exposes a portion of the cleaning sheet from the housing; a slide mechanism for sliding the cleaning sheet exposed in the opening; a cleaning sheet supporting portion fixed to the housing and supporting the cleaning sheet toward the opening; a plug holder that holds an optical connector plug having a ferrule disposed at its tip in the opening; a pressing portion that applies a pressing force between the cleaning sheet supporting portion and the plug holding portion; Prepare.
- the optical connector plug can be fixed to the opening, and the cleaning sheet can be slid while pressing the cleaning sheet against the ferrule end face, so that the cleaning operator can clean the optical connector plug. It becomes unnecessary to press against the sheet. Therefore, the present disclosure can provide an optical connector cleaning tool that can clean the ferrule end face with an appropriate force regardless of the operator.
