Abstract

L'invention concerne un ensemble de cellules d'électrodialyse pour la production d'hydroxyde de lithium à partir d'une solution contenant du lithium. L'ensemble comprend une pluralité de compartiments anodiques et cathodiques disposés en alternance séparés par des membranes échangeuses de cations respectives qui permettent la migration de cations de lithium à travers celles-ci depuis les compartiments anodiques vers les compartiments cathodiques. Chaque compartiment anodique comprend une anode et un premier élément de distribution de fluide ayant un orifice d'entrée pour recevoir un courant d'alimentation d'une solution contenant du lithium dans le compartiment anodique et un orifice de sortie pour en éliminer une solution appauvrie en lithium. Chaque compartiment cathodique comprend une cathode et un second élément de distribution de fluide ayant un orifice d'entrée pour recevoir une solution d'hydroxyde de lithium dans le compartiment cathodique et un orifice de sortie pour en éliminer une solution d'hydroxyde enrichie au lithium. Les premier et second éléments de distribution de fluide sont interposés entre la membrane échangeuse de cations et ladite anode et ladite cathode respectives, lesdits éléments de distribution de fluide comprenant un cadre configuré pour le maintien d'au moins d'une ou de plusieurs feuille(s) d'espacement perméable(s) à proximité étroite de la membrane d'échange de cations. Une paire de plaques d'extrémité opposées enserrent la pluralité de compartiments anodiques et cathodiques disposés conjointement en alternance ensemble.
