Abstract
The invention relates to a method for operating a storage unit (10) for storing electrical energy during conversion into thermal energy, in which in a loading operation by means of a loading arrangement via a loading side (200), a high-temperature storage device (130) is loaded with energy, in particular introduced electrical energy, in the form of thermal energy, and stores the energy, and in an unloading operation by means of a Rankine process (312) via an unloading side (100), the high-temperature storage device (130) is unloaded by withdrawing the thermal energy from the high-temperature storage device (130) and converting it into electrical energy. A high efficiency of the unit can be achieved by an energy conversion arrangement of the storage unit (10), which is present in the storage unit (10) in addition to the loading arrangement, in the form of a second Joule arrangement (400) of the storage unit (10) and having a low-pressure side (405) and a high-pressure side (409) and compressor/turbine arrangements (406, 414) located between them, being operated during the loading operation and/or during the unloading operation of the storage unit (10) in a heat pump process (508) and/or in a thermal power process (510) (Fig. 1).
