Description

Device for storing and dispensing at least two cosmetic products and related method
The present invention concerns a device for storing and dispensing at least two cosmetic products, comprising:
- a container defining at least a first reservoir configured to contain a first cosmetic product and a second reservoir configured to contain a second cosmetic product;
- a first dispenser comprising a first pump and a first sampling tube immersed in the first reservoir;
- a second dispenser comprising a second pump and a second sampling tube immersed in the second reservoir;
- a distribution nozzle, connected to the first dispenser and to the second dispenser, the distribution nozzle defining at least a duct for dispensing the first cosmetic and the second cosmetic product, the nozzle being mobile with regards to the container between a rest position and a dispensing position.
The device is configured to deliver the at least two cosmetic products.
The two cosmetic products are for example a care product, a make-up product, and/or more specifically a hair coloration product comprising a colorant to be mixed with an oxydant.
More generally, a cosmetic product is a product as defined in EC Regulation N° 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council dated November 30, 2009, relating to cosmetic products.
The two cosmetic products often need to avoid storage in a mixed condition. The two cosmetic products need to be stored in separate compartment in order to be mixed only at the time of use shortly before application. This is especially the case if the two products are intended to react one with another as this is the case for hair dye products.
If the mixture of the at least two cosmetic products comprises one active product, it is essential that the at least two cosmetic products are mixed immediately after being delivered.
For example, in a hair coloration product comprising a dye and a developer, the dye has high pH comprised between 7 and 11 and comprises dye pigments. Using the dye only could lead to skin irritation.
The developer has a low pH below 5.
Therefore, the dye and the developer must be delivered together to create an acid-neutral condition for consumer safety.
To this aim, the subject-matter of the invention is a device of the above type, characterized in that the device is configured in such a way that when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product, the second reservoir still contains some second cosmetic product available to deliver.
Thanks to the fact that, when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product, the second reservoir still contains some second cosmetic product available to deliver allows ensuring that the first cosmetic product is not delivered alone at the end. It is particularly useful when the first cosmetic product is active and need to be mixed with the second cosmetic product.
In a variant, the first sampling tube and the second sampling tube each have a free open end emerging respectively in the first reservoir and in the second reservoir, the free open end of the first sampling tube being located a first height from the bottom of the device when the device is held vertically, the free open end of the second sampling tube being located a second height from the bottom of the device when the device is held vertically, the first height being greater than the second height of at least 5 %.
Providing a first sampling tube and a second sampling tube having different heights guarantees that only one of the two cosmetic products is delivered when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product.
In a variant, the container comprises a vessel and a shoulder cap mounted on the vessel to close it upwardly, wherein the vessel extends along a longitudinal axis and comprises a peripheral wall of axis and a lower wall, the walls delimiting an inner volume, wherein the vessel comprises a longitudinal partition extending from the lower wall to the shoulder cap, the longitudinal partition separating the first reservoir and the second reservoir, and wherein the lower wall is divided in two portions and with respect to a plane comprising the longitudinal partition, the first portion being the bottom of the first cosmetic product reservoir and having a first surface, the second portion being the bottom of the second cosmetic product reservoir intended and having a second surface, and the second surface is at least 2 %greater than the first surface.
A second reservoir with a larger inner sub-volume allows filling more second cosmetic product than first cosmetic product and thus contributes to deliver only the second cosmetic product when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product.
In a variant, the device is configured in such a way that when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product, the second reservoir still contains enough second cosmetic product available to move the nozzle between the rest position and the dispensing position at least once and deliver second cosmetic product.
This feature ensures delivering enough second product when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product so that the user can be aware that only second cosmetic product is delivered.
In variants, the device is configured to deliver a predetermined ratio of the first cosmetic product and of the second cosmetic product until the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product;
the distribution nozzle comprises two separate ducts, each connected respectively to the first dispenser and to the second dispenser, the ducts emerging outside of the device via separate openings.
Providing a nozzle with two separate ducts avoids cross contamination of the products before they are dispensed.
In a variant, the first reservoir and the second reservoir are arranged next to each other in the container, when the device is held vertically;
the first reservoir and the second reservoir have a same height when the device is held vertically;
the first cosmetic product has a first viscosity measured at 20℃ with a M3 spindle and the second cosmetic product has a second viscosity measured at 20℃ with a M3 spindle, the first viscosity being greater than the second viscosity of at least 10 %.
Providing a first cosmetic product with a first viscosity higher than the second viscosity of the second cosmetic product renders easier the delivering of the second cosmetic product and contributes to deliver only the second cosmetic product when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product.
In a variant, the first reservoir contains a first product volume of the first cosmetic product and the second reservoir contains a second product volume of the cosmetic product, and wherein the second product volume is at least 2 %greater than a volume of the second cosmetic product calculated to deliver simultaneously the first cosmetic product and the second cosmetic product at a predetermined ratio.
Overfilling the second cosmetic product compared to the first cosmetic product allows contributing to deliver only the second cosmetic product when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product.
The invention also concerns a method for dispensing at least two cosmetic products, comprising:
- providing a device as described above;
- moving the nozzle between the rest position and the dispensing position;
- delivering a first cosmetic product through the first dispenser and the nozzle;
- delivering simultaneously a second cosmetic product, through the second dispenser and the nozzle, and once the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product,
- delivering only the second cosmetic product.
The invention will be better understood, upon reading of the following description, given solely as an example, and made in reference to the following drawings, in which:
- [Fig. 1] figure 1 is a view taken in vertical section along a vertical medial plane of a first device for storing and dispensing a cosmetic product according to the invention before use;
- [Fig. 2] figure 2 is a view analogous to figure 1, after use of the device when the first dispenser has finished delivering the first cosmetic product;
- [Fig. 3] figure 3 is a bottom view of the first device of figure 1.
- [Fig. 4] figure 4 is a perspective view of a container from the first device delimiting two reservoirs;
- [Fig. 5] figure 5 is a view of a nozzle for dispensing the product ;
first device 10 for storing and dispensing a cosmetic composition is shown in Figure 1.
The cosmetic composition is for example a composition for care of a body surface, a composition for make-up of a body surface or preferably, a composition for coloring keratin fibers of a user, in particular the hair of a user.
In order to form the cosmetic composition, at least two cosmetic products are mixed. The cosmetic products are products such as defined in EC Regulation N° 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and the Council of November 30, 2009.
According to a preferred embodiment, the first cosmetic product is dye and the second cosmetic product is developer.
The first cosmetic product has a first viscosity measured at 20 ℃ with a M3 spindle.
For example, the first viscosity is comprised between 30 Pa. sand 300 Pa. s, more preferably between 20 Pa. sand 65 Pa. s.
The second cosmetic product has a second viscosity measured at 20 ℃ with a M3 spindle.
For example, the second viscosity is comprised between 5 Pa. sand 200 Pa. smore preferably between 5 Pa. sand 30 Pa. s.
Advantageously, the first viscosity is greater than the second viscosity.
Advantageously, the first viscosity is greater than the second viscosity of at least 10 %, preferably at least 100 %, more preferably at least 200%, and even more preferably at least 300 %.
The first cosmetic product has a first pH.
For example, the first pH is greater than 7, in particular comprised between 8 and 11.
The second cosmetic product has a second pH.
For example, the second pH is below 5, in particular comprised between 2 and 4.
Advantageously, the first pH is greater than the second pH.
Advantageously, the first pH is greater than the second pH of at least 10 %, preferably at least 100 %, more preferably at least 200%, and even more preferably at least 300 %.
In reference to figure 1, the device 10 extends along a longitudinal axis A-A’, which is here vertical. The device 10 comprises a container 12 delimiting a first cosmetic product reservoir 14 and a second cosmetic product reservoir 16.
The first reservoir 14 and the second reservoir 16 are disposed next to each other in the container, when the device is held vertically.
The device 10 comprises a first cosmetic product dispenser 18, a second cosmetic product dispenser 20 and a nozzle 22, mobile with regard to the container 10 simultaneously the first dispenser 18 and the second dispenser 20 to dispense simultaneously the first cosmetic product and the second cosmetic product.
The container 12 further comprises a vessel 30 and a shoulder cap 32 mounted on the vessel 30 to close it upwardly.
The vessel 30 extends along the longitudinal axis A-A’, which is represented vertical in figure 1. It comprises a peripheral wall 38 of axis A-A’ and a lower wall 40, the  walls  38, 40 delimiting an inner volume 39.
The vessel 30 delimits an upper opening, closed by the shoulder cap 32 and a lower opening, closed by the lower wall 40.
The vessel 30 further comprises a linear longitudinal partition 48 extending from the lower wall 40 to the shoulder cap 32.
The longitudinal partition 48 separates the first reservoir 14 and the second reservoir 16.
The longitudinal partition 48 is also fluid tight.
The first reservoir 14 has a first inner sub-volume V1.
The second reservoir 16 has a second inner sub-volume V2.
Advantageously, the second inner sub-volume V2 is at least 2 %greater than the first inner sub-volume V1, preferably at least 3 %greater than the first inner sub-volume V1.
As shown in figure 3, the lower wall 40 is divided in two portions 41 and 41’ with respect to a plane P1 comprising the longitudinal partition 48.
The first portion 41 is the bottom of the first cosmetic product reservoir 14 and has a first surface S1
The second portion 41’ is the bottom of the second cosmetic product reservoir 16 intended and has a second surface S2.
The second surface S2 is at least 2 %greater than the first surface S1, preferably at least 3 %.
This allows filling the second reservoir 16 with a greater volume of cosmetic product than in the first reservoir 14.
The peripheral wall 38 comprises, along its upper edge, an outer shoulder 42, visible in figure 4, and an annular rim 44 for retaining the shoulder cap 32.
The lower wall 40 has through openings 46 which open in the inner volume 39 defined inside the peripheral wall 38. The through openings 46 emerge outside of the device 10.
As shown in figure 4, the shoulder cap 32 has an outer peripheral edge 72.
The outer peripheral edge 72 has an oblong shape.
The shoulder cap 32 further comprises a first outer sleeve 74 delimiting a first opening through which the first reservoir emerges, and a second outer sleeve 76 delimiting a second opening through which the second reservoir 16 emerges.
The shoulder cap 32 has advantageously two facing convex protrusions 77 extending transversely and delimiting an inner space 78 (figure 4) .
The inner space 78 has, for example, a substantially eight-shape transverse section. According to variants, the inner space 78 has a two-square transverse section or two-disc transverse section.
The first outer sleeve 74 and the second outer sleeve 76 are located aside each other, with their axis on each side of the longitudinal axis A-A’.
Each  outer sleeve  74, 76 has outside fins 84, which protrude radially outside of the  sleeve  74, 76.
As shown in figure 1, the first dispenser 18 is able to pump product from the first reservoir 14 to the nozzle 22.
The first dispenser 18 comprises a first pump 100 mounted in the first reservoir 14, a mobile stem 102 connecting the first pump 100 to the nozzle 22, and a sampling tube 104, mounted upstream of the pump 100 to sample the first cosmetic product in the first reservoir 14.
The stem 102 is a mobile hollow rod which controls the actuation of the pump 100. It defines a product outlet at the top end of the stem 102. The outlet is inserted in the nozzle 22.
The displacement of the stem 102, generally parallel to the longitudinal A-A’, allows distribution of the first cosmetic product from the sampling tube 104 through the pump 100 to the product outlet.
The first sampling tube 104 protrudes downwardly from the first pump 100.
It defines a free open end 114 (see figure 1) located at a first height H1 from the bottom of the device 10 taken along the longitudinal axis A-A’.
The second dispenser 20 comprises a second pump 120 and similarly to the pump 100, a mobile stem 122, and a second sampling tube 124.
As described above, the second pump 120 is able to dispense product from the second reservoir 16 sampled through the second sampling tube 124 to the mobile stem 122 and to the nozzle 22.
The mobile stem 122 has a structure similar to the structure of stem 102.
The product outlets of the stems 102, 122 are located at the same height from the bottom of the container 12.
The second sampling tube 124 has a free open end 125 located at a second height H2 from the bottom of the device 10 taken along the longitudinal axis A-A’.
Advantageously, the first height H1 is greater than the second height H2 of at least 5 %, when the device is held vertically.
Therefore, the second cosmetic product can be pumped for a longer duration than the first cosmetic product.
The nozzle 22 has a central hub 140 and a protruding pump head 142. In the example of figure 5, it comprises a first dispensing duct 144 for dispensing the first cosmetic product and a second separate dispenser duct 146 for dispensing the second cosmetic product, the  ducts  144, 146 being supported by the central hub 140.
The central hub 140 comprises an outer peripheral band 150 extending around axis A-A’ in shape that is complementary to the shape of the inner space 78 of the shoulder cap 32.
The peripheral band 150 supports the  ducts  144, 146.
The pump head 142 protrudes radially from the peripheral band 150. In this example, the first dispensing duct 144 and the second dispensing duct 146 are totally distinct and emerge each in an outer opening respectively 152, 154 located aside from each other at the end of the pump head 142.
In the example of figure 5, each dispensing  duct  144, 146 comprises an upstream longitudinal portion 156 receiving a  respective stem  102, 122 and a downstream transverse portion 158 connecting the upstream portion 156 to a  respective opening  152, 154.
The first cosmetic product received from the first stem 102 flows in the first dispensing duct 144 to the first opening 152, without contact with the second cosmetic product flowing in the second dispensing duct 146 from the second stem 122.
The nozzle 22 is therefore mobile in translation parallel to the axis A-A’ from an upper rest position, in which the cosmetic products are confined in their  respective reservoirs  14, 16 to a lower dispensing position, in which the  pumps  100, 120 have been activated to dispense product from the  reservoirs  14, 16.
The two convex protrusions 77 of the shoulder cap 32 allow properly guiding the nozzle 22 in a vertical movement between the rest position and the dispensing position.
During manufacturing, the first cosmetic product is filled in the first reservoir 14.
The first cosmetic product filled in the first reservoir 14 has a first product volume V1’.
Then, the first dispenser 18 is set in place on the first outer sleeve 74 of the shoulder cap 32.
Then, the second cosmetic product is filled in the second reservoir 16.
The second cosmetic product filled in the second reservoir 16 has a second product volume V2’.
The device 10 is configured to deliver a predetermined ratio of the first cosmetic product and of the second cosmetic product until the first dispenser 18 has finished delivering the first cosmetic product.
Advantageously, the second product volume V2’ is calculated according to a product ratio to deliver.
The product ratio is defined by the volume of the second cosmetic product to deliver in one dose per volume of the first cosmetic product to deliver in one dose. For example, if the ratio is 1: 2, the volume of the second cosmetic product in one dose is twice the volume of the first cosmetic product.
It is important that the product ratio remains unchanged from the first dose to the last dose of the first cosmetic product.
The second product volume V2’ is equal to the sum of the volume of the second cosmetic product required to fulfill the ratio and of an overfilling volume of the second cosmetic product.
The second product volume V2’ is at least 3 %greater than a volume of the second cosmetic product calculated to deliver simultaneously the first cosmetic product and the second cosmetic product at a predetermined ratio.
Thus, after the last dose of the first cosmetic product delivered together with the second cosmetic product at a predetermined ratio, only second cosmetic product can be delivered.
The first reservoir 14 and a free surface of the first cosmetic product when the device 10 is held vertically delimit a first headspace over the first cosmetic product.
The second reservoir 16 and a free surface of the second cosmetic product when the device 10 is held vertically delimit a second headspace over the second cosmetic product.
Advantageously, the second headspace is greater than the first headspace.
For example, the second headspace has a greater volume than a volume of the first headspace of at least 2 %, and preferably of at least 3 %.
The second dispenser 20 is then put in place on the second outer sleeve 76.
The respective mobile stems 102, 122 then protrude parallel to the axis A-A’ above the shoulder cap 32.
Then, the nozzle 22 is put in place on the  stems  102, 122. A closer (not shown) is inserted between the top of the shoulder cap 32 and the nozzle 22 to prevent motion of the nozzle 22 during storage.
The use of the device 10 for dispensing cosmetic products will be now described.
When a dose of the first and the second cosmetic product is to be dispensed, the user pushes the nozzle 22 downwardly towards the container 12.
The movement of the nozzle 22 in translation along the axis A-A’ is advantageously guided by the complementary shapes of the nozzle 22 and the shoulder cap 32.
During this movement, the mobile stems 102, 122 move downwardly and activate the  pumps  100, 120.
In a first step, the first cosmetic product is then pumped from the first reservoir 14 in the sampling tube 104, through the first pump 100 to the first mobile stem 102 and through the first dispensing duct 144 to the first opening 152.
Simultaneously, the second cosmetic product is pumped from the second reservoir in the sampling tube 124, through the second pump 120, the mobile stem 122, the second dispensing duct 146 to the second opening 154.
The two products can then be mixed by the user at the outlet of the device 10, outside the device 10.
In a second step, as shown in figure 2, when the last dose of the first cosmetic product has been delivered, the second cosmetic product is pumped alone.
Advantageously, when the first dispenser 18 has finished delivering the first cosmetic product, the second reservoir 20 still contains enough second cosmetic product  available to move the nozzle 22 between the rest position and the dispensing position at least once and deliver second cosmetic product.
The device 10 therefore ensures the consumer safety by delivering only the second cosmetic product at the end.
