Abstract

Description
本発明は、LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas)を推進用燃料として使用する船舶に関する。
従来から、LNGを推進用燃料として使用する船舶が知られている。例えば、特許文献1には、LNGを貯留するタンクと、メインエンジンと、発電用エンジンを含む船舶が開示されている。このような船舶では、メインエンジンが推進用プロペラを駆動し、発電用エンジンが発電機を駆動すると考えられる。
具体的に、特許文献1の船舶では、メインエンジンがLNGを強制的に気化した気化ガスを燃料とし、発電用エンジンがタンク内で自然発生するBOG(Boil Off Gas)を燃料とする。メインエンジンは第1供給路によりタンクと接続され、発電用エンジンは第2供給路によりタンクと接続される。
第1供給路には、タンクに貯留されたLNGを吸入して吐出するポンプと、このポンプから吐出されたLNGを気化する気化器が設けられている。そして、気化器で生成された気化ガスがメインエンジンへ供給される。特許文献1の船舶ではタンクが耐圧容器であり、タンク内の圧力を利用してBOGが第2供給路を通じて発電用エンジンへ供給される。
特許文献1の船舶のように発電用エンジンがBOGを燃料とする構成では、発電用エンジンでのBOGの使用量よりもBOGの発生量が上回る場合に、余剰のBOGを処理する必要がある。余剰のBOGを処理するには、余剰のBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用することや、余剰のBOGを再液化装置で再液化してタンクへ戻すことが考えられる。
しかし、BOGを再液化する再液化装置は高価であるとともに、当該再液化装置の駆動に大きなエネルギーが必要である。また、BOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用する場合、一般的にメインエンジンの燃料噴射圧は発電用エンジンの燃料噴射圧よりも高いため、BOGをメインエンジンの燃料噴射圧まで昇圧するための圧縮機が必要となる。
なお、タンクが耐圧容器でない場合、第2供給路にBOGの圧送手段として圧縮機が設けられるが、この場合でも、余剰のBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用するには、第2供給路に設けられる圧縮機とは別に、メインエンジンの燃料噴射圧までBOGを昇圧可能な圧縮機が必要となる。
そこで、本発明は、再液化装置を用いたりBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用したりすることなく余剰のBOGを有効活用することができる船舶を提供することを目的とする。
前記課題を解決するために、本発明の船舶は、LNGを貯留するタンクと、推進用プロペラを駆動するメインエンジンと、前記タンク内のLNGを吸入して吐出するポンプ、および前記ポンプから吐出されたLNGを気化する気化器が設けられ、前記気化器で生成された気化ガスを燃料として前記メインエンジンへ供給する第1供給路と、船内電力線と接続された発電機を駆動する発電用エンジンと、前記タンク内で発生するBOGを燃料として前記発電用エンジンへ供給する第2供給路と、前記船内電力線と接続された、前記発電機で生成された電力を蓄える蓄電器と、を備える、ことを特徴とする。
上記の構成によれば、発電用エンジンでのBOGの使用量に対してBOGの発生量が多い場合には、余剰のBOGを使用して電力を生成し、その電力を蓄電器に蓄えることができる。蓄電器に蓄えられた電力は、船内電力の使用量がBOGからの電力生成量よりも多いときに船内電力として利用することができる。従って、再液化装置を用いたりBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用したりすることなく余剰のBOGを有効活用することができる。
本発明によれば、再液化装置を用いたりBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用したりすることなく余剰のBOGを有効活用することができる船舶が提供される。
(第1実施形態)
図1に、本発明の第1実施形態に係る船舶1Aを示す。この船舶1Aは、LNGを貯留するタンク2と、推進用プロペラ11を駆動するメインエンジン4と、発電機61をそれぞれ駆動する複数の発電用エンジン6を含む。図1では、発電用エンジン6の数が2つであるが、発電用エンジン6の数は1つであっても3つ以上であってもよい。

メインエンジン4は、ディーゼルサイクル(自着火式)またはオットーサイクル(点火式)のレシプロエンジンである。ディーゼルサイクルでは、圧縮行程の末期に燃料が燃焼室内に噴射されて自着火する。オットーサイクルでは、空気と燃料の混合気が燃焼室内に吸入されて圧縮され、その後に混合気が点火される。
例えば、メインエンジン4は、2ストロークエンジンである。メインエンジン4の出力シャフトは、駆動シャフト41により推進用プロペラ11と連結されている。駆動シャフト41には減速機が設けられることもある。
各発電用エンジン6は、オットーサイクル(点火式)のレシプロエンジンである。例えば、発電用エンジン6は、4ストロークエンジンである。
メインエンジン4は第1供給路3によりタンク2と接続され、発電用エンジン6は第2供給路5によりタンク2と接続されている。
例えば、タンク2は、カーゴタンクであってもよい。この場合、LNG運搬船に適した構成を実現できる。あるいは、タンク2は、耐圧容器として構成された燃料タンクであってもよい。この場合、LNG燃料船に適した構成を実現できる。
本実施形態では、第1供給路3に、互いに並列に並ぶ2つのポンプ31が設けられている。また、第1供給路3には、ポンプ31の下流側に気化器32が設けられている。
各ポンプ31は、タンク2内のLNGを吸入し、メインエンジン4の燃料噴射圧よりも高い圧力で吐出する。例えば、各ポンプ31はピストン式のポンプである。気化器32は、ポンプ31から吐出されたLNGを気化する。第1供給路3は、気化器32で生成された気化ガスを燃料としてメインエンジン4へ供給する。
本実施形態では、タンク2内に、ロータリ式のポンプ21が設けられており、第1供給路3の上流端がそのポンプ21に接続されている。
本実施形態では、メインエンジン4が、気化ガスと燃料油の一方または双方を燃料として使用可能な二元燃料エンジンである。このため、メインエンジン4には、燃料油供給路45も接続されている。ただし、メインエンジン4は、気化ガスのみを燃料とするガス専焼エンジンであってもよい。
第2供給路5は、タンク2内で発生するBOGを燃料として発電用エンジン6へ供給する。本実施形態では、第2供給路5に圧縮機55が設けられている。ただし、タンク2が耐圧容器の場合には、タンク2内の圧力を利用してBOGを発電用エンジン6へ供給可能であるので、圧縮機55は省略可能である。
本実施形態では、各発電用エンジン6が、BOGと燃料油の一方または双方を燃料として使用可能な二元燃料エンジンである。このため、各発電用エンジン6には、燃料油供給路65も接続されている。ただし、各発電用エンジン6は、BOGのみを燃料とするガス専焼エンジンであってもよい。
上述した発電機61は、船内電力線15と接続されている。すなわち、発電機61で生成された電力は、船内電力として利用される。また、船内電力線15には、蓄電器7も接続されている。蓄電器7は、発電機61で生成された電力を蓄える。
蓄電器7は、例えば、リチウム電池である。例えば、蓄電器7は、電解質が固体(酸化物または硫化物)の全固体電池であってもよい。あるいは、蓄電器7は、電解質だけでなく正極および負極も樹脂からなる全樹脂電池であってもよい。
全固体電池または全樹脂電池は、電解質が液体の一般的な電池に比べてエネルギー密度が高いために、一般的な電池よりも小型であるとともに安全性が高い。従って、蓄電器7が全固体電池または全樹脂電池であれば、配置上の制約が少ない。しかも、全固体電池または全樹脂電池であれば、人がアクセス不能な場所(例えば、デッキ下など)に配置することも可能である。また、全樹脂電池であれば、形状の自由度が高いために複雑な形状の場所にも設置可能であるとともに、換気やメンテナンスが省略可能である。従って、全樹脂電池を用いる方が望ましい。
また、本実施形態では、蓄電器7が、太陽光や風力などの再生可能エネルギーを利用して電力を生成する発電装置8とも接続されている。そして、発電装置8で生成された電力も蓄電器7に蓄えられる。
以上説明した構成の船舶1Aでは、発電用エンジン6でのBOGの使用量に対してBOGの発生量が多い場合には、余剰のBOGを使用して電力を生成し、その電力を蓄電器7に蓄えることができる。蓄電器7に蓄えられた電力は、船内電力の使用量がBOGからの電力生成量よりも多いときに船内電力として利用することができる。従って、再液化装置を用いたりBOGをメインエンジン4で燃料として使用したりすることなく余剰のBOGを有効活用することができる。
特に、船舶1Aが、LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas)を貯留する複数のカーゴタンクを含むとともに、タンク2が燃料タンクであるLPG運搬船である場合は、蓄電器7に蓄えられた電力をカーゴタンク内で発生するBOG(石油ガス)の再液化に使用することができる。LPG運搬船ではそのBOGの再液化を行う際に最も発電機負荷が高いため、これに蓄電器7に蓄えられた電力を使用すれば、発電機台数を減らしたり発電機容量を小さくしたりすることができる。
また、本実施形態のように発電用エンジン6が二元燃料エンジンであれば、蓄電器7が無い場合は、船内電力の使用量が多いときに、BOGに加えて燃料油が燃料として使用される。これに対し、蓄電器7が在れば、船内電力の使用量が多いときに蓄電器7に蓄えられた電力を使用することができるので、燃料油の使用量を低減することができる。これにより、低環境負荷に貢献できる。
(第2実施形態)
図2に、本発明の第2実施形態に係る船舶1Bを示す。本実施形態の船舶1Bが第1実施形態の船舶1Aと異なる点は、推進用プロペラ11とメインエンジン4との間に軸発電機9が介在している点である。なお、本実施形態において、第1実施形態と同一構成要素には同一符号を付し、重複した説明は省略する。
図2に、本発明の第2実施形態に係る船舶1Bを示す。本実施形態の船舶1Bが第1実施形態の船舶1Aと異なる点は、推進用プロペラ11とメインエンジン4との間に軸発電機9が介在している点である。なお、本実施形態において、第1実施形態と同一構成要素には同一符号を付し、重複した説明は省略する。
軸発電機9は第1駆動シャフト91によりメインエンジン4の出力シャフトと連結されているとともに、第2駆動シャフト92により推進用プロペラ11と連結されている。また、軸発電機9は、船内電力線15と接続されている。
本実施形態でも、第1実施形態と同様の効果を得ることができる。また、本実施形態では、軸発電機9で生成された電力も蓄電器7に蓄えたり、蓄電器7に蓄えられた電力を軸発電機9へ供給してメインエンジン4による推進用プロペラ11の駆動をアシストしたりすることができる。
(その他の実施形態)
本発明は上述した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲で種々の変形が可能である。

本発明の船舶は、LNGを貯留するタンクと、推進用プロペラを駆動するメインエンジンと、前記タンク内のLNGを吸入して吐出するポンプ、および前記ポンプから吐出されたLNGを気化する気化器が設けられ、前記気化器で生成された気化ガスを燃料として前記メインエンジンへ供給する第1供給路と、船内電力線と接続された発電機を駆動する発電用エンジンと、前記タンク内で発生するBOGを燃料として前記発電用エンジンへ供給する第2供給路と、前記船内電力線と接続された、前記発電機で生成された電力を蓄える蓄電器と、を備える、ことを特徴とする。
本発明の船舶は、LNGを貯留するタンクと、推進用プロペラを駆動するメインエンジンと、前記タンク内のLNGを吸入して吐出するポンプ、および前記ポンプから吐出されたLNGを気化する気化器が設けられ、前記気化器で生成された気化ガスを燃料として前記メインエンジンへ供給する第1供給路と、船内電力線と接続された発電機を駆動する発電用エンジンと、前記タンク内で発生するBOGを燃料として前記発電用エンジンへ供給する第2供給路と、前記船内電力線と接続された、前記発電機で生成された電力を蓄える蓄電器と、を備える、ことを特徴とする。
上記の構成によれば、発電用エンジンでのBOGの使用量に対してBOGの発生量が多い場合には、余剰のBOGを使用して電力を生成し、その電力を蓄電器に蓄えることができる。蓄電器に蓄えられた電力は、船内電力の使用量がBOGからの電力生成量よりも多いときに船内電力として利用することができる。従って、再液化装置を用いたりBOGをメインエンジンで燃料として使用したりすることなく余剰のBOGを有効活用することができる。
前記発電用エンジンは、前記BOGと燃料油の一方または双方を燃料として使用可能な二元燃料エンジンであってもよい。この構成によれば、蓄電器が無い場合は、船内電力の使用量が多いときに、BOGに加えて燃料油が燃料として使用される。これに対し、蓄電器が在れば、船内電力の使用量が多いときに蓄電器に蓄えられた電力を使用することができるので、燃料油の使用量を低減することができる。これにより、低環境負荷に貢献できる。
上記の船舶は、前記推進用プロペラと前記メインエンジンとの間に介在する、前記船内電力線と接続された軸発電機をさらに備えてもよい。この構成によれば、軸発電機で生成された電力も蓄電器に蓄えたり、蓄電器に蓄えられた電力を軸発電機へ供給してメインエンジンによる推進用プロペラの駆動をアシストしたりすることができる。
前記蓄電器は、全固体電池または全樹脂電池であってもよい。全固体電池または全樹脂電池は、電解質が液体の一般的な電池に比べてエネルギー密度が高いために、一般的な電池よりも小型であるとともに安全性が高い。従って、蓄電器が全固体電池または全樹脂電池であれば、配置上の制約が少ない。しかも、全固体電池または全樹脂電池であれば、人がアクセス不能な場所(例えば、デッキ下など)に配置することも可能である。また、全樹脂電池であれば、形状の自由度が高いために複雑な形状の場所にも設置可能であるとともに、換気やメンテナンスが省略可能である。
前記タンクはカーゴタンクであり、前記第2供給路には圧縮機が設けられてもよい。この構成は、LNG運搬船に適した構成である。
前記タンクは、耐圧容器として構成された燃料タンクであってもよい。この構成は、LNG燃料船に適した構成である。特に、LNG燃料船がLPG運搬船である場合は、蓄電器に蓄えられた電力をカーゴタンク内で発生するBOG(石油ガス)の再液化に使用することができる。
Claims (6)
- LNGを貯留するタンクと、
推進用プロペラを駆動するメインエンジンと、
前記タンク内のLNGを吸入して吐出するポンプ、および前記ポンプから吐出されたLNGを気化する気化器が設けられ、前記気化器で生成された気化ガスを燃料として前記メインエンジンへ供給する第1供給路と、
船内電力線と接続された発電機を駆動する発電用エンジンと、
前記タンク内で発生するBOGを燃料として前記発電用エンジンへ供給する第2供給路と、
前記船内電力線と接続された、前記発電機で生成された電力を蓄える蓄電器と、
を備える、船舶。 - 前記発電用エンジンは、前記BOGと燃料油の一方または双方を燃料として使用可能な二元燃料エンジンである、請求項1に記載の船舶。
- 前記推進用プロペラと前記メインエンジンとの間に介在する、前記船内電力線と接続された軸発電機をさらに備える、請求項1または2に記載の船舶。
- 前記蓄電器は、全固体電池または全樹脂電池である、請求項1~3の何れか一項に記載の船舶。
- 前記タンクはカーゴタンクであり、
