Definitions
- the invention relates to a care product, which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair.
- the hair of most individuals will have an appearance not fitting in this definition, in case a care product is not used besides the products used during the cleaning.
- the straight hairs look massless, the curly or wavy hairs have a messy look due to electrification, and the colored hairs lose their gloss and health due to the chemical procedure applied to the hair strands and thus become more vulnerable to split ends and breakage.
- the hairstyling products which are to preserve the natural hair shape with a healthy appearance, are generally resorted to.
- the products of this type are classified according to the desired action and have the features like volume filling, tress control or straightening.
- the components used in said products fail to achieve the same effect in every hair type.
- the strand thickness and structure play a significant role in the choice of the product for care and styling. Since only the hair shape is considered when classifying the available hair care/styling products, the outcomes from the use of these products are not the same for the individuals with different hair types. For example, the styling process and the subsequent permanence are more difficult to achieve in the hairs with thin strands, irrespective of the hair shape. Further it is required to include the ingredients, which thicken and strengthen the strands while performing the hair care. Likewise, since the colored hairs have a greater extent of wear as compared to the other hairs, the components to be used in styling and care and their respective quantities should be selected accordingly. However, since the currently available hairstyling products, especially the sprays, are classified according to the straight/wavy/curly hair and to the extent of hair fixing, the needs specific to the hair strand type are not able to be fully satisfied.
- a care product in aerosol form which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair, is provided.
- An object of the invention is to develop a care product, which meets the hair care and styling needs of the users with colored, thin-strand or thick-strand hair types.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a care product, which protects the hair from the ultraviolet rays.
- Another object of the invention is to develop a care product, which is offered to the user in the form of a spray.
- the invention relates to a care product, which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair.
- said care product is a styling product used for hair.
- the care product according to the invention comprises at least one fixing agent, at least one active ingredient and/or extract specific to the hair strand structure, and at least one solvent.
- a preferred embodiment of the invention comprises the active ingredient and/or extract at a ratio of 0, 1-0,3% by weight and the fixing agent at a ratio of 2.8-5.1% by weight.
- active ingredients and extracts possible to be used within the scope of the invention include niacinamide or d-panthenol or vegetable keratin or coconut extract or avocado extract or coffee extract or bamboo extract or macadamia extract or almond extract or olive extract.
- active ingredients and extracts selected from but not limited to the examples given above may be preferred according to the invention.
- Niacinamide is the amide form of the vitamin B3.
- the vitamin B3 balances the sebum in the scalp to prevent over-greasing and provides vivacity, gloss and volume to the hair. It is a quite effective agent for the problems related to the scalp, nourishing and strengthening the scalp. In this way, the hairs are affected less by the detrimental external factors. This agent regulates the moisture balance of the scalp and thus assists in the prevention of the development of dandruff.
- D-panthenol is a biologically more active and stable type of the vitamin B5. It is a substance commonly used in the hair care products, since it is one of the vitamins required for the activity of the enzymes involved in the preservation of the hair health, in the growth of hair and in the process of hair regrowth. It moisturizes the hair and protects the hair from the external factors owing to its moisture holding ability, thickens the hair strands, and helps with the repair of the damages in the keratin layer.
- Keratin is one of the proteins available in our hair, nails, teeth, and skin.
- the vegetable keratin obtained from corn, wheat and soybean externally adheres to the hair strands, thereby moisturizing the hair and repairing the damages developing in the strands ends. Since it forms a thin film layer on the strands, it reduces the detrimental effects of the procedures applied on the hair, improves the flexibility of the hair, and strengthens the hair.
- the bamboo extract provides the protection of the hair integrity from the oxidative effects; the macadamia extract features the restoration of the moisture to the hair and the ease in styling the curly hair with thick strands; the coconut extract is able to enable the elimination of electrification; the almond extract provides the care for the split ends of hair; and the avocado and olive extracts feature the ability to moisten the hair and make the tresses pronounced.
- the pH value of the composition according to the invention is between 6.0 and 9.5, preferably between 8.0 and 9.5.
- at least one type of pH regulating agent is used for this purpose, in a quantity sufficient to bring the pH value into the desired range.
- at least one pH regulating agent is preferably selected from sodium hydroxide or aminomethyl propanol or triethanol amine within the scope of the invention, the choices are not limited to these.
- the pH regulating agent is preferably used at a ratio of 0.7-1.3% by weight.
- the product according to the invention comprises at least one fixing agent.
- at least one fixing agent preferably selected from the polymers polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymer or acrylate copolymer or acrylate cross linked polymer or octylacrylamide/acrylate/butylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymer (amphomer) is used, though the choices not being limited to these.
- Said care product is offered to the user in an enclosed package wherein the user achieves, whenever they desire, the use of the product with the help of an actuator positioned on the package.
- the care product is in the form of a spray.
- the care product contains at least one type of propellant gas so that the output of the care product is possible from the package even when the quantity of the same has decreased within said package.

- benzophenone-4 which features the ability to filter the UV rays, is preferably used as the agent for protection from the UV rays.
- the use of the agent for protection from the UV rays is preferred at a ratio in the range of 0.03-0.07% by weight.
- the care product comprises at least one type of essence. It is possible to prefer an essence of any type and quantity so that the fragrance may be perceived by the user during the output of the product from the package and the clarity of the care product is not impaired.
- the use of the essence is preferred at a ratio in the range of 0.1-0.3% by weight.
- the care product comprises at least one type of solvent in addition to the other ingredients.
- ethyl alcohol is used as the solvent.
- a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water is used as the solvent.

Description
A CARE PRODUCT SPECIFICALLY DEVELOPED FOR THE HAIR TYPE
Subject of the Invention
The invention relates to a care product, which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair.
State of the Art
Today, the importance we attach to our appearance and the necessity to keep pace with the times has led us to seek the products capable of providing more than one action simultaneously. Accordingly, the extent of development and use of the products that meet the needs of care and at the same time address the human perception of beauty increases. The same holds true for our body and face as well as our hair.
The sleek, voluminous and styled hair appeals to the human perception of healthy hair. The hair of most individuals will have an appearance not fitting in this definition, in case a care product is not used besides the products used during the cleaning. The straight hairs look massless, the curly or wavy hairs have a messy look due to electrification, and the colored hairs lose their gloss and health due to the chemical procedure applied to the hair strands and thus become more vulnerable to split ends and breakage. Thus, the hairstyling products, which are to preserve the natural hair shape with a healthy appearance, are generally resorted to. The products of this type are classified according to the desired action and have the features like volume filling, tress control or straightening. However, the chemicals contained in the product that is applied to the hair may cause more damage to the hair, the hair may thus lose its health and an undesirable appearance may result when the product is not applied. For this reason, there is an increasing interest in the products, which perform the styling function while providing the hair care with the various oils or components they contain.
The components used in said products fail to achieve the same effect in every hair type. In addition to the hair type, the strand thickness and structure play a significant role in the choice of the product for care and styling. However, since the currently available hairstyling products,
especially the sprays, are classified according to the straight/wavy/curly hair and to the extent of hair fixing, the needs specific to the hair strand type are not able to be fully satisfied.
The need has arisen to perform an innovation in the relevant art in order to solve the above- mentioned problems. With this invention, a care product in aerosol form, which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair, is provided.
Object of the Invention
An object of the invention is to develop a care product, which meets the hair care and styling needs of the users with colored, thin-strand or thick-strand hair types.
Another object of the invention is to develop a care product, which protects the hair from the ultraviolet rays.
Another object of the invention is to develop a care product, which is offered to the user in the form of a spray.
The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the invention will be more clearly understood from the detailed description provided below. Consequently, the evaluation should be made taking said detailed description into consideration.
Detailed Description of the Invention
The invention relates to a care product, which is suitable for different hair types, protects the hair from the harmful effects of the solar rays, and meets the care and styling needs of the hair.
In this detailed description, the preferred alternatives of the care product according to the invention are described only to enable a better understanding of the subject matter, without leading to any limiting effect.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, said care product is a styling product used for hair.
The care product according to the invention comprises at least one fixing agent, at least one active ingredient and/or extract specific to the hair strand structure, and at least one solvent.
A preferred embodiment of the invention comprises the active ingredient and/or extract at a ratio of 0, 1-0,3% by weight and the fixing agent at a ratio of 2.8-5.1% by weight.
The active ingredients and extracts possible to be used within the scope of the invention include niacinamide or d-panthenol or vegetable keratin or coconut extract or avocado
extract or coffee extract or bamboo extract or macadamia extract or almond extract or olive extract. The use of one or several active ingredients and/or extracts selected from but not limited to the examples given above may be preferred according to the invention.
Niacinamide is the amide form of the vitamin B3. The vitamin B3 balances the sebum in the scalp to prevent over-greasing and provides vivacity, gloss and volume to the hair. It is a quite effective agent for the problems related to the scalp, nourishing and strengthening the scalp. In this way, the hairs are affected less by the detrimental external factors. This agent regulates the moisture balance of the scalp and thus assists in the prevention of the development of dandruff.
D-panthenol is a biologically more active and stable type of the vitamin B5.
Keratin is one of the proteins available in our hair, nails, teeth, and skin. The vegetable keratin obtained from corn, wheat and soybean externally adheres to the hair strands, thereby moisturizing the hair and repairing the damages developing in the strands ends. Since it forms a thin film layer on the strands, it reduces the detrimental effects of the procedures applied on the hair, improves the flexibility of the hair, and strengthens the hair.
As for the other mentioned extracts that are possible to use within the scope of the invention, the bamboo extract provides the protection of the hair integrity from the oxidative effects; the macadamia extract features the restoration of the moisture to the hair and the ease in styling the curly hair with thick strands; the coconut extract is able to enable the elimination of electrification; the almond extract provides the care for the split ends of hair; and the avocado and olive extracts feature the ability to moisten the hair and make the tresses pronounced.
It is aimed to keep the pH value of the composition according to the invention between 6.0 and 9.5, preferably between 8.0 and 9.5. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one type of pH regulating agent is used for this purpose, in a quantity sufficient to bring the pH value into the desired range. While at least one pH regulating agent is preferably selected from sodium hydroxide or aminomethyl propanol or triethanol amine within the scope of the invention, the choices are not limited to these. Within the scope of the invention, the pH regulating agent is preferably used at a ratio of 0.7-1.3% by weight.
Since said care product will be used preferably for the purpose of styling the hair, it is desired that the hair style is preserved for a long time following the application and is affected to the least extent possible by the factors like heat and moisture. Accordingly, the product according to the invention comprises at least one fixing agent. Within the scope of
the invention, at least one fixing agent preferably selected from the polymers polyvinylpyrrolidone or polyvinylpyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymer or acrylate copolymer or acrylate cross linked polymer or octylacrylamide/acrylate/butylaminoethyl methacrylate copolymer (amphomer) is used, though the choices not being limited to these.
Said care product is offered to the user in an enclosed package wherein the user achieves, whenever they desire, the use of the product with the help of an actuator positioned on the package. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the care product is in the form of a spray. The care product contains at least one type of propellant gas so that the output of the care product is possible from the package even when the quantity of the same has decreased within said package. Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) or dimethyl ether (DIVIE) is preferred as the propellant gas, but the choices are not limited to these.
Within the scope of the invention, the use of the propellant gas is preferred at a ratio in the range of 33-42% by weight.
The ultraviolet (UV) rays we are not able to see with bare eyes, which penetrate the ozone layer and contact our skin, cause damage also to our hair strands besides our skin, in case the necessary protection is not provided. For this reason, in an alternative embodiment, the care product according to the invention comprises at least one agent for protection from the UV rays. The agents possible to use include the UV-filtering substances used in the cosmetic products, such as ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate or octocrylene or avobenzone or benzophenone-4 or benzophenone-3. Within the scope of the invention, benzophenone-4, which features the ability to filter the UV rays, is preferably used as the agent for protection from the UV rays.
Within the scope of the invention, the use of the agent for protection from the UV rays is preferred at a ratio in the range of 0.03-0.07% by weight.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the care product comprises at least one type of essence. It is possible to prefer an essence of any type and quantity so that the fragrance may be perceived by the user during the output of the product from the package and the clarity of the care product is not impaired. In the composition according to the invention, the use of the essence is preferred at a ratio in the range of 0.1-0.3% by weight.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the care product comprises at least one type of solvent in addition to the other ingredients.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, ethyl alcohol is used as the solvent.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a mixture of ethyl alcohol and water is used as the solvent.
The compositions according to the invention comprising the above-mentioned ingredients at varying proportions were prepared and these compositions were subjected to certain tests
in order to measure their effectiveness. One of these tests is the test for gas compatibility. The compositions prepared with various liquid-gas proportions were left to stand at -10°C to -20°C for 12-36 hours and at -10°C to 0°C for 60-84 hours and then subjected to the clarity check. The compositions subjected to the comparison were filled in the packages and whether the proportion of the propellant gas was sufficient to completely empty the package was measured.
The 3-point bending hardness method was employed in another test, i.e. the fixation test. The prepared composition according to the invention is applied to the hair locks that are kept under the same conditions and have the same properties, and subsequently, the force required to break the film formed by the applied composition on the hair strands is measured. In more detail, the test is carried out using 2 g of 15.5 cm standard hair locks. The hair locks are washed in advance and conditioned overnight at a temperature of 20-25°C and a relative humidity (RH) of 40-50%. The hair locks are immersed in the solution where the application is to be performed and are squeezed with a special apparatus. The procedure is repeated 3 times, the hair locks are dried in a climate cabinet at a temperature of 20-25°C and a relative humidity of 40-50%, and are then kept overnight in a drying oven at a temperature of 21°C and a relative humidity of 65%. Then, the bending hardness is measured with a Diastron MTT 175 device where the maximum force is recorded in cN. The types and quantities of the fixing agents used directly affect the result of this test. It is obvious that the extent of fixing is one of the most important performance criteria for a hairstyling product.
The humidity resistance (HHCR) test is performed by way of applying the prepared compositions to the hair locks having the same properties followed by styling the hair locks and keeping them in a medium with the same humidity conditions. Disruptions in the style of the hair locks are measured at predetermined times. The humidity resistance test was performed with 5 repetitions using 2 g of 15.5 cm standard hair locks. For the test, the hair is preconditioned overnight in a climate cabinet (20°C, 45-50% RH). Each hair strand is curled on a teflon rod and kept overnight at 70°C and 20% RH. After drying, the hair is removed from the rod and conditioned again at 20°C and 50% relative humidity. The product is applied on the spray wires. The hair locks are kept for 24 hours in a climate oven at 25°C and 90% relative humidity, and the elongations upon the disruption of the hair tresses due to the humidity are measured during this period. The measurement values after 5 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours were checked for the hair locks kept under the room conditions.
The ultraviolet protection test is another test performed. The extent to which the versions of the hair locks with the same properties are protected after being exposed to the ultraviolet rays in the presence and absence of the application of the prepared compositions is measured by way of examination of the damage in the hair locks under the microscope. For this study, the hair locks are dyed in red and the color change under the UV is checked and the damage in the hair strands is examined under the microscope.
Additionally, the particle size distribution was determined via the laser diffraction method using the Malvern spray technology. The checks are performed in an environment at 21°C and 40% relative humidity. The graph of cumulative volume (%) versus particle diameter is plotted and the values of Dv (10), Dv (50) and Dv (90) are determined. By means of the particle size distribution test, the average particle size frequencies of the population are measured in microns. The ratios of the sizes of the particles remaining below the threshold values of 2.5 and 10 microns to the total volume are determined. The reason for conducting this test is that a condition risky in terms of toxicology develops in cases where the particle size is too small.
Further, the products were subjected to stability checks and the feedbacks from the appreciation tests conducted with the users were taken into consideration. In the stability checks, the packages in which the product is stored are cut and the checks are performed for the liquid as well as for the valve output. Taking all these tests into consideration, the composition according to the invention is observed to satisfy the criteria of hare care and styling for different hair types.
