- Embodiment 1 L2 architecture, the remote UE is located outside the coverage of the base station
- Solution 1 The remote UE has not yet connected to the base station through the relay UE:
- the remote UE must find the relay UE and establish a connection through the discovery procedure and other processes, and wait for the subsequent base station to configure the RRC radio resources and related parameters for the remote UE through the relay UE.
- the remote UE connects to the base station through the relay UE:
- the base station Since there are peer-to-peer RRC, SDAP, PDCP and other protocol stacks between the remote UE and the base station, the base station transfers through the relay UE at this time, and configures RRC radio resources and related parameters for the remote UE.
- the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration here can be sent by the base station to the relay UE in the form of a system message, or in the form of RRC dedicated signaling, and then sent by the relay UE to the remote UE.
- the relay UE When the relay UE is sent to the remote UE, it can also be sent to the remote UE by broadcast, multicast, or unicast.
- Embodiment 2 L2 architecture, the remote UE is located within the coverage of the base station
- Mode 1 The RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE are only sent from the base station to the relay UE and then forwarded by the relay UE to the remote UE, and the remote UE no longer obtains the RRC radio resource configuration from the base station through its own Uu interface and related parameter configuration. For example, the remote UE may not initiate the RRC connection establishment process at this time.
- Mode 2 The RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE are only sent by the base station to the remote UE directly through the Uu interface. At this point, there are two situations:
- the remote UE may disconnect from the relay UE. That is, at this time, the remote UE tends to communicate with the base station directly through the Uu interface, including not only the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration, but also the data on the data plane.
- the remote UE may continue to connect to the base station through the relay UE.
- the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE only come from the base station directly sent to the remote UE through the Uu interface, and the data of the remote UE data plane will pass through.
- relay transmits between the UE and the base station.
- the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE can either be sent from the base station to the relay UE and then forwarded by the relay UE to the remote UE, or the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameters can be obtained from the base station through the remote Uu interface. related parameter configuration.
- the base station can decide which way to send the configuration to the UE by itself. At this point, there are two situations:
- the data on the data plane of the remote UE can either be relayed by the relay UE and transmitted to the base station, or it can be transmitted to the base station through its own Uu interface.
- Scheme 2 The data on the data plane of the remote UE will be transmitted between the relay UE and the base station.
- Mode 4 The remote UE is based on the base station's indication (the indication can come from relay UE relay, or from the remote's own Uu interface) to determine which of the above Modes 1 to 3 is used to achieve communication with the base station.
- the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE comes from relay UE relay or from the direct Uu interface, depending on the specific content of the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration. For example, if the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration are used for non-relay-related services, they come from the Uu interface, and if they are used for relay-related services, they come from relay UE transit.
- the RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration of the remote UE comes from the relay UE relay or from the direct Uu interface, depending on the connection status between the remote UE and the base station, and the status of the remote UE connecting with the base station through the relay UE .
- the remote UE has a direct RRC connection with the base station (for example, the establishment of the RRC connection is triggered by the relay service or other services or reasons, or the handover from the relay relay link to the direct link is triggered), then the RRC radio resources Configuration and related parameter configuration comes from the direct Uu interface.
- the remote UE does not have a direct RRC connection with the base station, but is directly connected to the base station through the relay UE, there are two cases:
- RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration come from relay relay
- the dedicated RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration come from relay relay, and the remote UE can still read the system message of the base station to obtain the broadcasted RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration.
- the remote UE base station has no direct RRC connection and is not directly connected to the base station through the relay UE (for example, there is no PC5-RRC connection between the remote and the relay, or the relay UE itself is in the RRC-IDLE/INACTIVE state), then:
- the remote UE can only read the system message of the base station through its own Uu interface to obtain the broadcasted RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration;
- the remote UE can only obtain the broadcasted RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration through the system message of the relay UE relay base station;
- the remote UE can obtain the broadcasted RRC radio resource configuration and related parameter configuration by obtaining the system information of the base station in either a or b.
- Embodiment 3 L3 architecture, the remote UE is located outside the coverage of the base station
- Scenario 1 The remote UE has not yet connected to the base station through the relay UE:
- the remote UE can use pre-configuration (factory pre-configuration or base station pre-configuration).
- the remote UE connects to the base station through the relay UE:
- Embodiment 4 L3 architecture, the remote UE is located within the coverage of the base station
- the solution of this application can be used for both UE-to-network relay architecture and UE-to-UE relay architecture. (That is, the base station in the above embodiment can be replaced with another remote UE).
