Description

Nozzle for spraying atomized spray liquid on crops
DESCRIPTION:
Technical field of the invention
The invention relates to a spray head for spraying atomized spray liquid on crops, comprising: - a dish-shaped atomizing disc, a drive connected to the atomizing disc for rotating the atomizing disc, and a supply line for spray liquid provided with an outflow opening being at a short distance from the concave side of the atomizing disc. Background of the invention
WO 2008/028671 A1 discloses a rotating atomizing device with a rotating dish-shaped atomizing disc and a liquid supply line at a short distance from the concave side of the atomizing disc. This known atomizing device serves to humidify and cool ambient air by introducing atomized water into an air stream.
Summary of the invention
An object of the invention is to provide a spray head of the type described in the preamble with which a spray liquid, for instance for protecting a crop against vermin or fungi, can be sprayed on a crop in an efficient manner. To this end, the spray head according to the invention is characterized in that the spray head furthermore comprises a vane wheel which is provided with a dish- shaped vane carrier which has a larger diameter than that of the atomizing disc, the concave side of the vane wheel facing the concave side of the atomizing disc and being at short distance from the atomizing disc, vanes being provided on the convex side of the vane carrier to create an airflow forming an air curtain to guide the atomized spray liquid to the crops.
The vane wheel can be rigidly or via a transmission connected to the atomizing disc so that it also rotates during operation. The spray head can also be provided with a further drive for rotating the vane wheel. As a result, the atomizing disc and the vane wheel can be driven independently of each other, so that more adjustment options for the spray jet are available.
The vane wheel is designed in such a way that an air flow is created that constitutes an air curtain that ensures that the atomized liquid remains within the air curtain and cannot be blown away. By providing the atomizing disc with a vane wheel in the manner described above, a spray head is obtained which emits a directed jet of atomized liquid, so that with the spray head liquid can be sprayed in a targeted manner on, for example, crops.
If smaller liquid droplets are required during atomization, the atomizing disc can be provided with fine teeth on the outer circumference.
To ensure that the liquid droplets or any particles in the liquid droplets do not adhere to the atomizing disc or the vane carrier, the concave side of the atomizing disc and/or of the vane carrier can be provided with a nano- structure to which particles and liquid droplets cannot adhere. Furthermore, for this purpose the atomizing disc and/or the vane carrier can be provided with a piezo element to make them vibrate.
In order to improve the airflow created by the vane wheel, the vane wheel can be provided with a shielding cap which is connected to the vanes such that the vanes are at least partly present between the shielding cap and the vane carrier.
In order to be able to set an optimum spray jet, the drive and the further drive can drive the vane wheel and the atomizing disc at different speeds and can rotate the vane wheel and the atomizing disc in the same or opposite directions.
Furthermore, the distance between the atomizing disc and the vane wheel is adjustable in order to guide the liquid drops as good as possible from the atomizing disc via the vane carrier to the crop.
An embodiment of the spray head according to the invention is characterized in that the spray head comprises an air guide, which air guide and the vane wheel are concentric, and which air guide is arranged at a greater radius than the vane wheel and is arranged around the vane wheel viewed in radial direction. This air guide provides a further air flow which amplifies the air flow generated by the vane wheel. Preferably, the distance between the air guide and the vane wheel is adjustable.
Additional vanes may be provided between the air guide and the vane wheel. These further vanes may be attached to the air guide or to the vane wheel and may rotate about the axis of the spray head during operation. Brief description of the drawings
The invention will be further elucidated below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment of the spray head according to the invention shown in the drawings. Hereby shows:
Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section of a first embodiment of the spray head according to the invention;
Figure 2 shows a top view of the spray head shown in Figure 1; and
Figure 3 shows a longitudinal section of a second embodiment of the spray head according to the invention.
Detailed description of the drawings
Figures 1 and 2 show a first embodiment of the spray head 1 according to the invention for spraying atomized spray liquid 2 on crops. The spray head 1 has a dish-shaped atomizing disc 3 which is connected to a drive 5 for rotating the atomizing disc 3. A supply line 7 for spray liquid 2 is arranged with an outflow opening 9 at a short distance from the concave side 3 A of the atomizing disc 3.
The spray head 1 further has a vane wheel 11 for creating an air flow around the atomizing disc 3 for directing the atomized flow of liquid particles. This vane wheel 11 is provided with a dish-shaped (cup-shaped) vane carrier 13 which has a larger diameter than that of the atomizing disc 3 and whose concave side 13 A faces the concave side 3A of the atomizing disc 3 and is arranged at a short distance from the atomizing disc 3. On the convex side 13B of the vane carrier 13, vanes 15 are mounted on which an annular shield 16 is mounted, so that a part of the vanes 15 is present between the shield 16 and the vane carrier 13. The vane wheel 11 is connected to a further drive 19 for rotating the vane wheel 11.
The vane wheel 11 and the atomizing disc 3 can be rotated at different speeds and rotated in the same or opposite direction in order to be able to set an optimum spray jet. Furthermore, the distance between the atomizing disc 3 and the vane wheel 11 is adjustable in order to guide the liquid drops as good as possible from the atomizing disc 3 via the vane carrier 11 to the crop. In order to optimize the spray head 1, the atomizing disc 3 is provided with fine teeth 21 on the outer circumference and the concave sides 3 A and 13 A of the atomizing disc 3 and of the vane carrier 13 are provided with a nano-structure. Furthermore, the atomizing disc 3 and the vane carrier 13 are each connected to a piezo element 23 and 25 for vibrating them to prevent particles from adhering to the concave surfaces.
Figure 3 shows a second embodiment of the spray head 31 according to the invention. All parts similar to those of the above-described first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals. In this spray head 31, the vane wheel 11 is rigidly attached to the atomizing disc 3 and the supply line 33 is located next to the center line 35 of the spray head 31.
Furthermore, an air guide 37 is arranged around the vane wheel 11. The air guide 37 and the vane wheel 11 are concentric here, with the air guide 37 being arranged at a greater radius than the vane wheel 11 and being arranged around the vane wheel 11 viewed in radial direction. Between the air guide 37 and the vane wheel 11, further vanes 41 are present, which are mounted on the outside of the vane wheel 11 and thereby rotate during operation with the vane wheel 11 about the axis 35 of the spray head 31.
Although the present invention is elucidated above on the basis of the given drawings, it should be noted that this invention is not limited whatsoever to the embodiments shown in the drawings. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiments shown in the drawings within the scope of the invention defined by the appended claims.
