Abstract

Provided are compositions and methods for use in promoting regeneration of plants. The method of promoting regeneration of plants includes inhibiting calcium signaling, inhibiting a salicylic acid (SA) pathway, or inhibiting both calcium signaling and the SA pathway. Inhibition of calcium signaling can be performed using glutamate like receptor inhibitors. The method can be used for any type of plant and any type of plant cells and plant parts. The disclosure includes plants and plant products made by the method.
