Description
Assembly and method for manufacturing a presentation box.
The present invention relates to an assembly for manufacturing a presentation box.
By a 'presentation box' is meant here a box which is used to pack an object in an attractive, aesthetic way. Moreover, such a presentation box must not only be sturdy enough to protect the object in question, preferably it can also be fully personalised according to the end user's wishes. Additional requirements are that it must be possible to pack the presentation box flat or flattened during transport or storage and that it must be possible for the end user to assemble the box without any tools. The present invention aims to provide a solution to this.
The present invention relates to an assembly for manufacturing a presentation box, wherein the assembly comprises at least two strips and two elements, a main element and an additional element respectively, each having an inner side and an outer side, which outer side is the side to be personalised, wherein the main element is divided into several segments including a front side, a back side, an outer bottom and a lid, which can be distinguished from each other by the folding lines between adjacent segments and wherein the strips are divided into
several parts including a plate-shaped part with a side flap on two opposite edges, which strips are attached or can be attached to the inside of the front and the back of the main element and wherein the secondary element is divided into several parts by folding lines, including successively a first bottom part, a first side, bottom, a second side and a second bottom part, which additional element is placed at right angles to the main element and the bottoms of both elements are fitted together, and wherein the sides are manufactured in two parts in such a way that the sides can be folded over adjacent side flaps when shaping the presentation box in order to form double sides, and wherein the bottom part abuts against the bottom of the assembled presentation box.
An advantage thereof is that the end user can assemble such a presentation box without any additional tools.
Another advantage is that the assembly can be stored and transported as a flat unit, which is economically more advantageous .
Preferably, the assembly is stored and transported as a flat unit with the different elements separate from each other, such that the assembly can be stored and transported compactly .
An additional advantage is that all parts and segments of each element of such a presentation box can be personalised .
In a preferred embodiment, the sides of the additional element are made in two parts to form double sides after the assembly of the presentation box.
Preferably, the assembly is also provided with an inner bottom which, in the assembled condition of the presentation box, extends at least between the folded-over sides in order to fix them in their mounted upright position .
An advantage thereof is that the sides and the bottom of the presentation box are very sturdy, so that also heavier objects can be packed in such a presentation box.
An additional advantage of such an inner bottom is that the inner bottom will block the sides of the presentation box in such a way that they cannot unintentionally come loose during use.
Method for manufacturing a presentation box, characterised that the method includes the following steps:
- providing a main element divided into different segments including a front, a back, an outer bottom and a lid, which can be distinguished from each other by the folding lines between adjacent segments;
- providing an additional element which is divided into several parts by folding lines, successively including a bottom part, a first side, bottom, a second side and a bottom part;
- attaching the additional element at right angles to the main element, wherein the bottoms of both elements are fitted together;
- providing at least two strips;
- fixing the strips on the inside of the front and back of the main element.
An advantage thereof is that the end user can assemble such a presentation box without any additional tools.
It is clear that this method offers the same advantages as the assembly for manufacturing a presentation box.
In order to better explain the characteristics of the invention, the following preferred embodiments of an assembly for manufacturing a presentation box according to the invention are described below, by way of example only without being limitative in any way, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 schematically and in perspective shows a main element according to the invention; figure 2 schematically and in perspective shows an additional element according to the invention;
Figure 3 schematically and in perspective shows strips according to the invention;
Figures 4 to 10 represent the successive steps of making a presentation box according to the invention; Figures 11 and 12 show alternative embodiments of Figure 8.
Figure 1 schematically shows a main element 1 according to the invention, wherein the main element 1 preferably comprises several segments 2, namely a front 3, an outer
bottom 4, a back 5, a lid 6 and a front flap 7 respectively .
The main element 1 is preferably designed as a one-piece unit, wherein the different segments 2 can be distinguished by a folding line 8 between the adjacent segments 2.
The front flap 7 and the front side 3 of the main element 1 may be provided with complementary magnets, the magnets being such that they attract each other when a shaped presentation box 9, as shown in Figure 11, is closed.
An additional element 10, as shown in Figure 2, may be subdivided into several parts 11 by means of folding lines 8, including a first bottom part 16, a first side 12, bottom 13, a second side 14 and a second bottom part 16 successively .
Such bottom parts 16 are preferably manufactured as a relatively narrow strip, which is maximally half the length of the outer bottom 4.
The bottom 13 of the additional element 10 may also be split into two separate parts which together are maximally as long as the outer bottom 4.
Preferably, the sides 12 and 14 of the additional element 10 are made in two parts with a folding line 8, such that double sides 12 and 14 can be formed when folding the presentation box 9.
The aforementioned folding lines 8 between the different segments 2 and/or the different parts 11 of both elements 1 and 10 are preferably designed as perforated or creased folding lines 8 which serve as hinges, such that the assembly of the presentation box 9 is simplified.
However, the main element 1 and the additional element 10 can be manufactured in such a way that the different segments 2 and/or parts 11 of the elements 1 and 10 are made as separate units, which units can be placed at some distance from each other and can be clad all around with a sheet of paper, plastic or the like, wherein film hinges are formed between the separate units.
In an alternative, practical embodiment, the main element 1 and the additional element 10 are made of thicker paper or cardboard or solid plastic sheets, preferably with a thickness of one to three mm, and they are plate-shaped, and the various components of the elements 1 and 10 are hinged to each other.
The additional element 10 and the main element 1 can be connected to each other by preferably placing the additional element 10 at right angles to the main element 1 and fitting the bottoms 4 and 13 of both elements 1 and 10 together by means of gluing, as shown in Figure 4.
In a preferred embodiment, the main element 1 and the additional element 10 can be attached to each other by means of a self-adhesive sheet of paper or plastic.
Figure 3 schematically shows strips 15 according to the invention, wherein the strips 15 are divided into several components, including a plate-shaped part with a side flap 22 at two opposite edges, which strips 15 are attached to the plate-shaped part or can be attached to the inner side 17 of the front 3 and the back 4 of the main element 1.
In the event that the sides 12 and 14 of the additional element 10 are made as two-piece units, the sides 12 and 14 can be folded over adjacent side flaps 22 of the strips 15 to form double sides 12 and 14 and wherein the bottom part 16 of the additional element 10 abuts against the bottom 13 of the assembled presentation box 9.
In the assembled state, the side flaps 22 and the folded- over double sides 12 and 14 of the presentation box 9 are preferably arranged such that the side flaps 22 are squeezed between the folded-over sides 12 and 14 in the assembled state.
Thus, in the assembled state, the side flaps 22 of the presentation box 9 may extend to the underside 23 of the top edge 24 of the corresponding folded-over double sides 12 and 14.
This is to prevent the front 3 and/or the back 5 from becoming detached from the main element 1 after assembling the presentation box 9.
In the case of the figures, the side flaps 22 extend from the outer bottom 4 of the main element 1 to the underside
23 of the top edge 24 of the corresponding double sides 12 and 14 of the presentation box 9 when assembled.
However, it is also possible that the side flaps 22 extend from a distance above the outer bottom 4 to the underside 23 of the upper edge 24 of the corresponding double sides 12 and 14.
Such side flaps 22 are also preferably made of a thicker cardboard, such that the side flaps 22 are sturdy and can be squeezed between the folded-over sides 12 and 14.
The thickness of the side flaps 22 is selected such to that end that they will not easily rub and/or come loose from between the folded-over sides 12 and 14.
The assembly 18 can be provided with an extra part that serves as an inner bottom 20, which inner bottom 20 is designed such that it abuts at least against the folded- over sides 12 and 14 of the assembled presentation box 9.
This is to ensure that the sides 12 and 14 are fixed in their mounted upright position after assembly.
As shown in Figure 12, the side flaps 22 may have been or be provided with fasteners 25 with which adjacent side flaps 22 can be attached to each other or connected to each other.
The fasteners 25 of the side flaps 22 may include an opening 26 in each side flap 22 and a string 27 and/or a hook and/or the like intended to be inserted into
neighbouring openings 26 and thus interconnect the side flaps 22.
The strips 15 are preferably attached to the inner side 17 of the front 3 and to the inner side 17 of the back 5 of the main element 1.
Preferably, two strips 15 are attached to the inner side 17 of the main element 1 by means of a self-adhesive glue and/or magnets.
Figures 4 to 10 show the successive steps of manufacturing a presentation box 9 according to the invention. As shown in figure 4, the two elements 1 and 10 are preferably connected to each other by fitting the bottoms 4 and 13 of each element 1 and 10 together, and the strips 15 are attached to the inner side 17 of the front 3 and back 5 of the main element 1. The assembly 18, comprising a main element 1, an additional element 10 and strips 15, can be manufactured and assembled in a factory into a single unmounted unit, after which the assembly 18 can be assembled into a three-dimensional presentation box 9 by the end user.
Such an assembly 18, as shown in figure 4, is preferably stored and transported as a flat, assembled and unmounted unit.
The front 3 and the rear 5 can be folded inwards along their folding lines 8 so that these sides are situated at right angles to the bottom 4 and 13. Preferably, the sides 12 and 14 are made in two parts so that the sides 12 and 14 can be folded over the corresponding side flaps 22 of the strips 15 to form double sides 12 and 14 so that the presentation box 9 is relatively sturdy.
The bottom parts 16 of the additional element 10 can then be provided in a fitting manner up to the inner side 17 of the outer bottom 4 in such a way that the sides 12 and 14 remain upright when mounted.
To this end, the bottom parts 16 can prevent the upright double sides 12 and 14 from unintentionally coming loose.
After folding the sides 12 and 14 over the side flaps 22, the inner bottom 22 can be arranged in such a way that it fits closely at least against the folded-over double sides 12 and 14.
In this way, the sides 12 and 14 become fixed, so that it is relatively difficult for them to come loose.
The lid 6 and front flap 7 can then be folded on the shaped open box in a fitting manner, such that the front flap 7 overlaps with the front side 3 of the main element 1 and can be magnetically connected to it.
In an alternative embodiment, the strips 15 on the inner side 17 of the front 3 and the back 5 of the main element 1 may also be provided with additional fasteners 21, such as one or more rivets and/or one or more magnets and/or one or more push buttons, so that the strips are securely attached to the respective segments 2 of the main element 1, as shown in Figure 13.
