Abstract

The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn comprises a cooking drilled container (2) for cooking maize grains, an electric heater (3) of the cooking container (2), a collecting container (4) for collecting popcorn, and a circuit for forced circulation of air through the cooking container (2) for automatic transfer of the popcorn to the collecting container (4), the circuit comprising a fan (5) and a conveyor of air to the fan (5) including a hollow body (6) supported in a separable manner by the collecting container (4), the hollow body (6) having a central housing (7) housing the fan (5), and channels (8) for conveying air arranged in spoke-like fashion around the central housing (7).

Description

HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE FOR PRODUCING POPCORN
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a household appliance for producing popcorn.
A type of household appliance for producing popcorn is commercially known comprising a cooking container for cooking maize grains provided with an electric heater, and a circuit for forced circulation of air sucked from the bottom of the household appliance and directed through the cooking container to push the popcorn outside the cooking container.
The popcorn that emerges from the cooking container exits largely spontaneously so the user has to position a collecting container next to the apparatus for final consumption.
This type of household appliance, although it is compact and easy to handle, and although it is able to prepare fragrant and light popcorn owing to hot air cooking without fats, has a practical limit due to the fact that the popcorn is not immediately available to the consumer, who has to be provided with a container in which to pour a portion of popcorn from the storage tank present in the household appliance.
The technical task which is proposed for the present invention is, therefore, to create a household appliance for producing popcorn which makes it possible to eliminate the technical drawbacks complained of in the prior art.
Within the context of this technical task, one object of the invention is to realise a household appliance for producing popcorn that is extremely practical in use.
A further aim of the invention is to realise a household appliance for producing popcorn that is compact, light, easy to handle, constructionally simple, and easy to dismantle and clean.
The technical task, as well as this and other objects, according to the present invention are reached by realising a household appliance for producing popcorn, comprising a cooking drilled container for cooking maize grains, an electric heater of said cooking container, a collecting container for collecting popcorn, and a circuit for forced circulation of air through said cooking container for automatic transfer of the popcorn to said collecting container, said circuit comprising a fan, characterised in that said circuit further comprises a conveyor of air to the fan including a hollow body supported in a separable manner by the collecting container, said hollow body having a central housing housing said fan, and channels for conveying air that are arranged in a spoke-like fashion around the central housing.
Advantageously, the collecting container is an integral part of the household appliance that constitutes a closed system in which the popcorn, once it is produced, is made available for consumption directly from the collecting container that is suitably separated from a hollow body.
In a preferred embodiment, said hollow body is supported by the mouth of the collecting container.
In a preferred embodiment, said channels engage on the mouth of said collecting container.
In a preferred embodiment, said channels bound externally transit zones of the popcorn from the cooking container to the collecting container.
In a preferred embodiment, said channels have an open radial end for air intake positioned outside the collecting container. In a preferred embodiment, said central housing of the hollow body supports inside it a frame that supports said fan, a drive motor for driving the fan and said cooking container, said frame cooperating with said hollow body to form said air conveyor. In a preferred embodiment, said body has a positioning guide on the mouth of the collecting container.
In a preferred embodiment, said positioning guide is shape-joined to the mouth of the collecting container.
In a preferred embodiment, said hollow body consists of a lower half shell extending inside the collecting container and an upper half shell extending outside the collecting container and circumscribing the cooking container.
In a preferred embodiment, a covering outer casing is provided for covering said hollow body bounding with said upper portion of said central housing of said hollow body a transit zone of the popcorn from the cooking container to the collecting container.

Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will more fully emerge from the description of a preferred but not exclusive embodiment of the household appliance for producing popcorn according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting indication in the accompanying drawings, in which: figure 1 shows an axonometric view of the household appliance; figure 2 shows a raised side and section view of the household appliance according to a central vertical plane; figure 3 shows an axonometric view of the household appliance sectioned as in figure 2; figure 4 is an axonometric section view of three quarters of the household appliance; and figure 5 shows a top plan view of the household appliance devoid of the dome.
With reference to the cited figures, a household appliance for producing popcorn is shown that is denoted in its entirety by reference number 1.
The household appliance 1 comprises a cooking drilled container 2 for cooking maize grains, an electric heater 3 of the cooking container 2, a collecting container 4 for collecting popcorn, and a circuit for forced circulation of air through the cooking container 2 for automatic transfer of the popcorn to the collecting container 4.
The cooking container 2 and in particular a vertical cylinder having embossing 24 provided with slits 25 through which the air enters said cylinder with a vortex motion.
The embossing 24 located on the inner side wall of the cylinder is also adapted to cause a turbulent motion of the popcorn being formed.
The circuit for forced circulation of air through the cooking container 2 comprises in turn a fan 5 and a conveyor of air to the fan 5.
The conveyor of air to the fan 5 includes a hollow body 6 supported in a separable manner by the collecting container 4.
The hollow body 6 has a central housing 7 and channels 8 for conveying air that extend in spoke-like fashion from the central housing 7.
The hollow body 6 consists of two half shells.
In a preferred embodiment, said lower half shell 13 extends inside the collecting container 4 and an upper half shell 14 extends outside the collecting container 4 and circumscribes the cooking container 2.
The central housing 7 houses the supports for a frame 29 that supports the fan 5, the relative motor 28 and the cooking container 2.
The frame 29 has in particular a bottom wall 30 that supports below in a cantilevered manner the motor 28 and a side wall 31 deflecting downwards the flow of air sucked by the fan 5.
The hollow body 6 is supported by the mouth 9 of the collecting container 4. Particularly, the channels 8 engage on the mouth 9 of the collecting container 4.
The channels 8 bound externally transit zones 10 of the popcorn from the cooking container 2 to the collecting container 4.
The channels 8 have an open radial end 11 for air intake positioned outside the collecting container 4. The hollow body 6 has a perimeter ring 17 of the hollow body 6 that connects the open radial ends 11 for air intake of the channels 8.
Further, the hollow body 6 has a positioning guide 12 on the mouth 9 of the collecting container 4.
The positioning guide 12 is shape-coupled with the mouth 9 of the collecting container 4.
More precisely, the collecting container 4 has a mouth 9 of circular shape and the positioning guide 12 is formed by a circular perimeter flange of the hollow body 6 protruding downwards and having a tilted wall 27 for guided engagement with the mouth 9 of the collecting container 4.
The hollow body 6 thus simply rests on the collecting container 4 from which it can be separated by simple manual pulling upwards.
In practice, the conveyor of air to the fan 5 is defined partially by the channels 8 of the hollow body 6 and partially by the open chamber in which the channels 8 converge, said open chamber being bound by the lower portion 13 of the central housing 7 of the hollow body 6, by the bottom wall 30 and by the side wall 31 of the frame 29.
The open air inlet ends of the channels 8 are hidden from view by a protective ring nut 34.
This protective ring nut 34 is in particular fixed to the two half shells 13 and 14 in the upper part, whilst the lower perimeter edge is positioned below the mouth of the collecting container 4 and faces at a suitable distance the side wall of the collecting container 4 so as to leave a space free for entry of the air.
The household appliance 1 has a covering outer casing 15 covering the hollow body 6.
The outer casing 15 bounds with the upper portion 14 of the central housing 7 the hollow body 6 a transit zone 16 of the popcorn from the cooking container 2 to the collecting container 4.
The covering outer casing 15 is fixed to the hollow body 6.
In particular, the covering outer casing 15 is fixed to the perimeter ring 17 of the hollow body 6 that connects the open radial ends 11 of the channels 8.
The covering outer casing 15 has a removable dome 18 provided with at least one opening 19 for loading maize grains into the cooking container 2.
The dome 18 is preferably made at least partially of transparent material and can have at the top thereof a removable lid 33 to access the opening 19 for loading maize grains.
The lid 33 also has outlet openings 20 for the air that circulates through the cooking container 2.
The channels 8 house inside them electrical components necessary for the operation of the household appliance 1.
One of the channels 8 houses inside it an electric supply cable 21 of the household appliance 1.
One of the channels 8 houses inside it a switch 22 for switching on and off the household appliance 1.
One of the channels 8 houses inside it a presence sensor 23 for detecting the presence of the collecting container 4, for example a microswitch that is switchable by effect of the engagement of the hollow body 6 on the collecting container 4.
The operation of the household appliance according to the invention appears clear from the description and illustration and, in particular, is substantially as follows. For cooking, the electric heater 3 and the fan 5 are activated.
The air outside the household appliance 1 is sucked into the hollow body 6 and flows radially along the channels 8, then into the open chamber in which the channels 8 converge where amongst other things it cools the motor 28 and starts to be heated, then rise up again through the holes 31 of the bottom wall 30 of the frame 29, is then pushed upwards from the fan 5 and, entering from the slits 25 on the embossing 24, traverses the cooking container 2 coaxially positioned above the fan 5.
The air expels the ready popcorn from the cooking container 2 and is in turn expelled from the openings 20 of the dome 18.
The popcorn drops by gravity, traversing in sequence the transit zones 16 and 10 and is deposited in the collecting container 4.
At the end of cooking the user lifts the hollow body 6 from the collecting container 4 and can start tasting directly by picking from the latter.
The household appliance for producing popcorn as conceived herein is susceptible to numerous modifications and variants, all falling within the scope of the inventive concept; furthermore, all the details are replaceable by technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials used, as well as the dimensions, may be of any type according to requirements and the state of the art.

A household appliance (1) for producing popcorn, comprising a cooking drilled container (2) for cooking maize grains, an electric heater (3) of said cooking container (2), a collecting container (4) for collecting popcorn, and a circuit for forced circulation of air through said cooking container (2) for automatic transfer of the popcorn to said collecting container (4), said circuit comprising a fan (5), characterized in that said circuit further comprises a conveyor of air to the fan (5) including a hollow body (6) supported in a separable manner by the collecting container (4), said hollow body (6) having a central housing (7) having said fan (5), and channels (8) for conveying air that are arranged in a spoke-like fashion around the central housing (7), said hollow body (6) being liftable from the collecting container (4) so that an user can start tasting directly by picking from the collecting container (4).
2. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to claim 1, characterized in that said hollow body (6) is supported by the mouth (9) of the collecting container (4).
3. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said channels (8) engage on the mouth (9) of said collecting container (4).
4. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said channels (8) bound externally transit zones (10) of the popcorn from the cooking container (2) to the collecting container (4).
5. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said channels (8) have an open radial end (11) for air intake positioned outside the collecting container (4).

The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said central housing (7) of the hollow body (6) supports inside it a frame (29) that supports said fan (5), a drive motor (28) for driving the fan (5) and said cooking container (2), said frame (29) cooperating with said hollow body (6) to form said air conveyor.

The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said hollow body (6) has a positing guide (12) on the mouth (9) of the collecting container (4), said positioning guide (12) being shape-joined to the mouth (9) of the collecting container (4).

The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said hollow body (6) consists of a lower half shell (13) and an upper half shell (14), said lower half shell (13) extending inside the collecting container (4), said upper half shell (14) extending outside the collecting container (4) and circumscribing the cooking container (2).
9. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to the preceding claim, characterized in that it comprises a covering outer casing (15) for covering said hollow body (6) bounding with said upper portion (14) of said central housing (7) of said hollow body (6) a transit zone (16) of the popcorn from the cooking container (2) to the collecting container (4).
10. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said covering outer casing (15) is supported by said hollow body (6).
11. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to the preceding claim, characterized in that said covering outer casing (15) has a removable dome (18) provided with at least one opening (19) for loading maize grains into the cooking recipient (2).
12. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to any preceding claim, characterized in that said channels (8) house inside them electrical components that are necessary for the operation of the household appliance (1).
13. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to the preceding claim, characterized in that one of said channels (8) houses inside it an electric supply cable (21) of the household appliance (1).
14. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to claim 12, characterized in that one of said channels (8) houses inside it a switch (22) for switching on and off the household appliance (1).
15. The household appliance (1) for producing popcorn according to claim 12, characterized in that one of said channels (8) houses inside it a presence sensor (23) for detecting the presence of the collecting container (4).
