Description

DESCRIPCIÓN DISPOSITIVO DE ANCLAJE ESCLERAL PARA LENTES INTRAOCULARES Objeto de la invención DESCRIPTION OF SCLERAL ANCHORING DEVICE FOR INTRAOCULAR LENSES Object of the invention
The object of the present specification is a scleral anchoring device for intraocular lenses, whose main distinctive advantage lies in the fact of obtaining a piece of biocompatible material used in ophthalmology, which allows transforming any conventional intraocular lens into a scleral anchoring lens.
Antecedentes de la invención Background of the invention
At present, in the ophthalmological sector and more specifically, in the field of cataract operations, it is common to use intraocular lenses used for their introduction into the capsular bag. This type of lens is widely known and there are many products with various forms that fulfill this function.
Now, in this operation there may be a series of complications such as, for example, the fact that the patient remains aphakic (without support where the intraocular lens can be placed) or that the intraocular lens falls to the back of the eye ( example of complication during surgery or late postoperative).
To alleviate said problem, the applicant is aware of various methods or surgical procedures that attempt to alleviate said problem, such as: a) Use of a Dr. Carlevale scleral lens (it is a monoblock intraocular lens that consists of optics, haptics and monoblock bone scleral anchoring system in one piece). The main drawback is that its specificity means that it is not easy to obtain stock, which forces its implantation to be deferred to a second surgical act. b) Use of an iris anchoring lens (they anchor in the iris like a "crab claw"). Said use causes inflammatory problems, pigment dispersion, iris atrophy area, lens movement, etc. c) Use of conventional intraocular lenses sutured to the sclera, or anchoring their haptics to scleral tunnels (using the Yamane technique). Count as The main drawback is the laboriousness of these techniques and their low precision. d) The use of anterior chamber lenses that are supported by the chamber angle, the main drawback is the loss of endothelial cells, with all the problems that this entails.
These solutions, as mentioned, have the main drawback of having low efficiency, or the difficulty of obtaining stock. Therefore, an efficient and easy-to-obtain solution is necessary, which allows surgeons to have all the necessary tools when performing an intervention of such magnitude and / or complexity, which can lead to a series of inconveniences or problems such as those previously described and can be resolved in the same surgical act.
Descripción de la invención Description of the invention
The technical problem solved by the present invention is to achieve a device or element that allows the use of ophthalmic intraocular lenses to be converted into an intraocular lens for scleral anchorage, with the underlying advantages in terms of economic cost savings and the possibility of have sufficient stock for cataract interventions that may lead to complications since the same preselected lens will be used. For this, the scleral anchoring device for intraocular lenses, object of this utility model, developed in an ophthalmologically biocompatible material, is characterized in that at one end it is attached to the haptics of the conventional intraocular lens in various ways and at its other end incorporates anchoring means in the sclera.
Thanks to its design, the scleral anchoring device or element recommended here can be used by any ophthalmic surgeon, in a simple and fast way, transforming the standard intraocular lens into a scleral gait lens such as the monoblock scleral anchoring lens known in the market. by Dr, Carlevale without the need to have the necessary stock that is made unfeasible due to the specificity of the lenses depending on the patient, or to require complex techniques or means of intervention or with the possibility that it does not meet the needs imposed by such a complex surgery .
Una de las ventajas principales de su uso, es que al poder transformar cualquier lente intraocular en una lente de anclaje escleral, el cirujano podrá emplear la lente inicialmente seleccionada aun cuando aparezcan posibles complicaciones en la cirugía, esto permite una respuesta rápida por parte del personal médico a posibles complicaciones en la operación de cataratas, minimizando los riesgos y daños que pudiera darse en caso de no ser solventados en el momento One of the main advantages of its use is that by being able to transform any lens intraocular lens in a scleral anchoring lens, the surgeon can use the lens initially selected even when possible complications appear in the surgery, this allows a quick response by the medical staff to possible complications in the cataract operation, minimizing the risks and damages that could occur in case of not being solved at the time
Similarly and intrinsically related to the above, the fact of using conventional intraocular lenses implies that hospitals always have stock, so it minimizes patient waiting in case of complication or can directly solve the problem in situ, avoiding having to intervene more than once on the aforementioned patient.
In the event that the lens falls to the back of the patient's eye (complication during surgery or postsurgical), it allows the use of the lens itself already used, with a new, more stable grip, which saves on surgical material.
All of this results in innumerable benefits both for the hospital center (fewer interventions, less bed occupancy, more operations, etc.) and for the patient himself (avoiding a second operation).
