Description
REMOVABLE SEAT COVER Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a washable protective cover which can be easily covered and removed by the user on the covers coated on the seats during the production of the vehicles and which has the same style and technical features as the seat fabric currently present on the vehicle.
Background of the Invention
The seats that allow the driver and passengers to sit comfortably, travel and slightly lie down when necessary are the elements belonging to the interior of the vehicle. Vehicle seats are comprised of fastening systems (with guides), backrest, seat cushion, headrest, frame, paddings and adjustment arms. The backrest is the part where their back part corresponds when the driver and passengers sit. The inner part is in the form of a spring frame and the upper part of the springs is coated with padding and a cover thereon. The seat cushion is the part where the passenger and the driver sit. The seat cushion part is spring-loaded or made of steel sheet metal. The lower part of the seat is made of sheet metal. During a sudden impact from behind, the head of the person sitting on the seat suddenly moves back. Since this situation may cause neck fractures, a part which is called headrest supporting the head of the driver and passengers is used. It is comprised of frame, padding and cover similar to the structure of the seat. Seat cushion, backrest and headrest are manufactured by fixing the cover on polyurethane foam. The cover cannot be removed and washed when it gets dirty during use, as it is one-piece with foam. Users do not want the seat covers to be dirty and worn during the life of the vehicle. The seat covers being dirty creates a disadvantage in terms of both hygiene and the appearance of looking old in the used car market.
To solve this problem, protective covers that are far from the original appearance and neglect safety requirements are used from the aftermarket. These covers purchased from the aftermarket adversely affect the side airbag deployment performance and cause wrinkling. On the other hand, these covers cannot easily be removed and covered by the user.
United States patent document no DE102005001400 (Al), an application known in the state of the art, discloses a seat cover to be used in vehicles. The objective of the present is to provide a simple supporting cover on a frame part of a vehicle seat, in particular a backrest frame that is easy to mount without rework.
Chinese patent document no CN107521389, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a headrest cover to be used in vehicles which can be simply detached with respect to a headrest, and can be arranged on an accurate position. A headrest cover which can be simply detached with respect to a headrest, and can be arranged on an accurate position comprises a first locking part for locking a portion of the cover with a stay of the headrest; and a second locking part for locking another portion of the cover with the headrest.
German patent document no DE102012020555, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a hook and loop cushion which covers the seat cover of sitting surface in vehicles.
United States patent document no US2019031062, an application known in the state of the art, discloses a hook and loop removable seat cover.
In French patent document no FR2781733A1, an application known in the state of the art, the vehicle seat is comprised of a padded section covered by a trim cover. The cover consists of an under cover, in contact with the padding and fixed to it and the trim cover is fitted to the under cover in a removable manner by its edges.
In French patent document no FR2911821 Al, an application known in the state of the art, for example a backrest has fixed paddings including four peripheral sides surrounding a support surface that receives a user seated on a seat. A removable cover covers the support surface and is connected to the paddings by a slide fastener which runs along two sides of the paddings. The cover is connected to the support surface by the slide fastener which is extended in a central part of the support surface.
The Problems Solved with the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a washable protective cover which can be easily covered and removed by the user on the covers coated on the seats during the production of the vehicles and which has same style and technical features as the seat fabric currently present on the vehicle.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a protective cover which does not affect the deployment performance of airbags integrated into vehicle seats.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a protective cover that does not cause any clumping or wrinkling during use by being fixed in its place after it is fitted on the headrest, backrest and the seat.

A washable protective cover (1) of the present invention can be easily covered and removed by the user on the covers coated on the seats during the production of commercial and passenger vehicles and has the same style and technical features as the seat fabric currently present on the vehicle. The problem of not being able to remove and wash the existing cover in case it gets dirty during use of a seat since it is one-piece with the foam is solved with a protective cover (1) of the present invention. A secondary replaceable cover is designed with a protective
cover (1) over an existing seat, which can be removed and washed. A protective cover (1) comprises a headrest piece (11) fitted on a headrest (B) which is positioned at the top of a seat and supports the seated user's head; a seat cushion piece (13) connected to the floor of the vehicle and fitted on a seat cushion (T) on which the user sits; and a backrest piece (12) positioned between the headrest (B) and the seat cushion (T) and placed on a backrest (S) on which the user rests when sitting on the seat.
A hook (15) and a loop (14) which is joined to this hook (15) are positioned on lugs formed at the lower part in order to fix the removable headrest piece (11) fitted on a headrest (B). There is at least one lug positioned at the lower part of a head rest piece (11), and a hook (15) thereon. The lug on which the hook (15) is provided is covered on the loop (14). A loop (14) and a hook (15) are connected to each other in order to prevent the vertical movement of a headrest piece (11) after it is fitted on a headrest (B), and fix the headrest piece (11) on the headrest (B). The detachable headrest piece (11) can be removed by separating the loop (14) and the hook (15) from each other.
In the central region of a backrest (S), a loop (14) is sewn on the top and sides with an existing seam (16). In the lower central region of a backrest piece (12), a hook (15) is sewn on the top and sides with an existing seam (16). A hook (15) is sewn to the lower part of a headrest piece (12). A backrest piece (12) completely covers the back of a backrest (S), and it is fixed with a zipper (13) which connects front and rear parts to each other from the side parts. The headrest piece (12) circumferentially surrounds the backrest (S). In this way, children sitting in the back are prevented from dirtying the back of the backrest (S) of the front seat with their feet.
The seat cushion piece (13) of a protective cover (1) is attached to the seat cushion (T) connected to the vehicle by a zipper (17) positioned therein and a hook (15). A hook (15) is attached to a loop (14) provided on a seat cushion (T), and therefore
occurrence of defects such as wrinkling, clumping, etc. on the middle part (central region) of a seat cushion piece (13) is prevented during getting on and off the vehicle. In the central region of a seat cushion (T), a loop (14) is sewn as strips on the top and side parts with an existing seam (16). A loop (14) is folded and connected with a seam (16) between a central fabric (T2) and a lateral support fabric (Tl). A hook (15) attached to a loop (14) comprised of soft fibers is connected with a seam (16) between a seat cushion central fabric (132) and a seat cushion lateral support fabric (131). By means of a loop (14) comprised of soft fibers, when a seat cushion piece (13) is detached from the seat (1), the user can continue to use the seat cushion (T) without feeling discomfort or their clothes getting caught. In the lower central region of a seat cushion piece (13), a hook (15) is sewn as strips on the top and side parts with an existing seam (16). A loop (14) is sewn on the top part of the lower surface of the seat cushion piece (13). A zipper lower piece (171), one of the parts of a zipper (17) attached to each other which enable the outer edges of a seat cushion piece (13) to be fixed on the seat cushion (T), is sewn on the seat cushion (T) and a zipper upper piece (172), which is the other part, is sewn on the seat cushion piece (13). A zipper lower piece (171) is sewn on the center of the side surface of the seat cushion (T) to surround around its entire circumference. A zipper upper piece (172) is sewn at the edge of side surface of the seat cushion piece (13) to surround around its entire circumference. The seat cushion piece (13) is stretched with the hook (15) from its rear part contacting the backrest piece (12) and it is attached to the seat cushion (T), therefore the seat cushion piece (13) is fixed with zipper (17) from its outer edges, with the hook (15) attached to the loop (14) from its central region, and with the loop (14) and stretching fabric from its rear part.
In one embodiment of the invention, first headrest (B) of a seat is removed in order to fit a protective cover (1) on the seat. Then, a backrest piece (12) is fitted on the backrest (S) from the top. Subsequently, a hook (15) on the lower central surface of a backrest piece (12) is fixed with a loop (14) in the central region of a backrest (S). A loop (14) on the lower part of the lower surface of a backrest piece
(12) and a hook (15) on the lower region of the backrest (S) are fixed to each other. By closing a zipper (17) behind a backrest piece (12), the dressing process of the backrest (S) is completed. After the dressing of the backrest (S) is completed, a seat cushion piece (13) is fitted on the seat cushion (T). The hooks (15) on the lower center surface of the seat cushion piece (13) are fixed with the loops (14) on the central region of the seat cushion (T). A loop (14) on the lower part of the lower surface of a seat cushion piece (13) and a hook (15) on the lower region of the seat cushion (T) are fixed to each other. By connecting and closing a zipper lower piece (171) sewn on the side of a seat cushion (T) and a zipper upper piece (172) sewn at the edge of the side surface of a seat (13), the process of dressing a protective cover (1) on a seat is completed.
In one embodiment of the invention, in order to remove or detach a protective cover (1) from a seat, first a loop (14) and a hook (15) provided on the lower part of a headrest piece (11) are detached from each other, and the headrest piece (11) is removed from the headrest (B), and then the headrest (B) is demounted from the backrest (S). Then a zipper (17) provided on the rear part of the backrest piece (12) is opened. The backrest piece (12) is removed from the backrest (S) by means of detaching the hook (15) and loop (14) on the backrest piece (12) from the loop (14) and hook (15) on the backrest (S). After removing the backrest piece (12), a zipper (17) on the side of a seat cushion piece (T) is opened. The seat cushion piece (13) is removed from the seat cushion (T) by means of detaching the hook (15) and loop (14) on the seat cushion piece (13) from the loop (14) and hook (15) on the seat cushion (T). After the seat cushion piece (13) is removed from its place, the headrest (B) is attached to its place on the seat and the removal of a protective cover (1) from the seat is completed.
