Description
HERB HAIR DYE PREPARATIONS
Field of Invention
The present invention relates to the field of dye preparations, more particular to hair dye preparations made of natural ingredients, namely herbs, which can be used in coloring human hair.
Description of prior art of the present invention
Known hair dye preparations are chemical hair dyes which contain certain chemical agents to alkalize, oxidize the hair coloring agents in order to keep the dyed color of the hair stable for long time. The commonly used chemical agents are ammonia, peroxide, p-phenylenediamine, diaminobenzene, toluene-2, 5- diamine, resorcinol, etc. The advantage of these chemical hair dyes is to easily obtain the desirable and stable colors on hair for long times. However, the chemical hair dyes have following disadvantages:
- Hair often undergoes the oxidizing or bleaching treatments that can lead to undesirable hair qualities, such as brittleness and hair damage while irritating the scalp.
- During dyeing treatment, it causes the users discomfort such as making scalp numb or painful, reducing or losing sensation in the scalp, or even leading to hair loss after 3 to 5 days after the hair dyeing treatment.
- People with gray hair need to monthly dye the roots of gray hair, making the risk of cumulatively damaging hair roots and scalp. Gradually, hair losses, scalp weakens, that leads the scalp to undesirably sensitive, itchy, scaly easily and inflamed status.
- The rate of hair loss is faster than the rate of hair growth, the newly grown hair even can be weak and easily harmed.
- Consequently, people with gray hair are afraid of dyeing their hair, but still have to dye hair because of their personal needs. In addition, a lot of hair loss is an obsession of a woman over 45 years old due to the vicious cycle of Gray hair - Dyeing hair - Losing hair.
- A regular and long-term treatment by such chemical hair dyes also affects health as well as increases the risk of cancer as their side effects.
In order to overcome the aforementioned shortcomings of hair dyes with chemicals, in recent years there has been an explosion in the trend of making hair dyes from herbs. The chemicals involved, if any, are just inactive excipients, so the dye is, in general, safe for humans.
In fact, the use of herbs as hair dyes is not new, even appearing long before chemical dyes. For example, the ancient Egyptians were known as the pioneers who used herb dye to color their hair both for makeup and religious purposes.
According to the history of hair dyes, herbs such as Hernia, Chamomile, Indio or a herb in northern Iraq that have good effect of dyeing hair, so many recipes for making Herbal hair dye has been developed since over two thousand BC. In ancient Greece (c. 500 BC), women used dyed hair color to distinguish their social classes. Accordingly, red-haired women are of aristocratic lineage, platinum-colored hair ones is of the middle class and black-haired people are poor.
Although herbal dyes are known to be safe for human health, they have the disadvantage of poor color, unstable and easy discoloration compared to chemical dyes.
In addition, known herbal dyes mainly use ingredients that bring color to the hair, but do not pay attention to hair and scalp protection, steadiness of the hair roots, avoidance of hair damage and loss.
Summary of the Invention
The purpose of the present invention is to overcome the above disadvantages.
Therefore, the present invention provides a herbal hair dye preparation made of existing herbs, not only effective in dyeing hair with variety of colors, but also effective in conditioning hair and scalp while keeping out of harm to users’ health.
The present invention will be described below with preferred embodiments. It, however, should be understood that these preferred embodiments are only intended to more understand the present invention but not to limit it in any ways.
Thus, the present invention provides a herbal hair dye preparation which comprises a medicinal group (A) having the effect of dyeing hair; a medicinal group (B) having effects of caring for hair and scalp, and stimulating hair growth; and an adjuvant group (C) creating adhesion on the hair, wherein: the medicinal group (A) comprises herbs including: Henna, Indigofera Tinctoria leaves, Eclipta Prostrata, Polygonum multiflorum root, coffee beans, black tea, Chrysanthemum indicum, Rubia cordifolia roots, Valerian roots, Terminalia chebula, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, and turmeric. the medicinal group (B) comprises herbs including: Platycladus orientalis, holy basil, Phyllanthus emblica fruits, Cassia Italica leaves, patchouli, Moms roots, Eleusine indica, Ginkgo biloba, Equisetum arvense, ginseng, Arctium lappa, Sabal serenoa repens, Bacopa monnieri, Terminalia bellirica, and orange peels. the adjuvant group (C) comprises xanthan gum, hydroxyetyl xenlulo, and Na CMC
Henna
This is a natural material used by humans for a long time to darken hair and nourish hair healthy, to reduce breakage. However, since the Lawsone content in Henna is quite low, the dye doesn’t last long.
In its fresh state, Henna contains heterosides, which are hydrolyzed (by yeast) to obtain a lawsone in the content of about 1% (dried). This substance crystallizes in red-orange needles, slightly soluble in cold water, much easily soluble in hot water. When Lawsone is bound to skin and/or hair proteins it produces a reddish-brown color. Because of this property, Henna has been used worldwide as a natural dye. Nowadays, to make it easier to use and preserve for longer, Henna is dried then ground into powder.
Indigofera Tinctoria
Indigofera Tinctoria has been known for its good effect on human health. The leaf powder Indigofera Tinctoria gives users’ hair a natural dark blue color while keeps them healthy and undamaged.
Eclipta Prostrata ~ Eclipta Prostrata leaves
Eclipta Prostrata has cool, sweet taste, giving positive effects to kidney, teeth, reducing symptoms of dizziness, blook pressure, blood vomiting and ill kidney.
Eclipta Prostrata works to strengthen the immune system, inhibit cancer, improve blood circulation to lead in smooth skin, smooth black hair.
Polygonum multiflorum root
Polygonum multiflorum root has the effect of nourishing blood, treating neurasthenia, darkening hair for early gray hair persons, making hair less dry and reducing loss.
Chrysanthemum indicum
In addition to its purifying effects and assisting in weight loss, Chrysanthemum indicum tea is also used as a raw material for herbal hair dyes because of its ability to make hair blond.
In one preferred embodiment, a herbal hair dye preparation of the present invention comprises: a medicinal group (A) comprising Henna, Indigofera Tinctoria leaves, Eclipta Prostrata, Polygonum multiflorum, coffee beans, black tea, Chrysanthemum indicum, Rubia cordifolia roots, Valerian roots, Terminalia chebula, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, and turmeric, each is proportional to an amount of percentage by weight (wt %) of 0.1 to 97% on a wt/wt % of the total preparation; a medicinal group (B) comprises: Platycladus orientalis, holy basil, Phyllanthus emblica fruits, Cassia Italica leaves, patchouli. Moms roots, Eleusine indica, Ginkgo biloba, Equisetum arvense, ginseng, Arctium lappa, Sabal serenoa repens, Bacopa monnieri, Terminalia bellirica, and orange peels each is proportional to an amount of percentage by weight (wt %) of 0.1 to 10% on a wt/wt % of the total preparation; and an adjuvant group (C) comprises: xanthan gum, hydroxyetyl xenlulo, and Na CMC, each is proportional to an amount of percentage by weight (wt %) of 0.1 to 2% on a wt/wt % of the total preparation.
