Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for controlling and driving a window or door blinds or shades, a control mechanism and a method for mounting, controlling and protecting the mechanism.
  • Another method of electrical control of the blinds is to use a similar system which power source is the battery, optionally in combination with a solar panel.
  • This method of operation has the same disadvantages as the first method, but an even higher purchase price due to the need to buy a solar panel and a battery to store electricity.
  • Another major drawback is the battery discharging and the regular need to replace the battery and thus the reliability of the system is not guaranteed, which reduces the con venience of using the system.
  • Compared to the first, most widespread example there is no need to cut the electrical installation into the walls of the room, but such devices usually do not have the ability to operate the system remotely or even to completely lift or lower the blinds lamellas.
  • a new device comprising a control unit (10) and a drive mechanism (14) with simple mounting of the device to the blinds (15) or shades without the need to replace, disassemble or interfere with their design and control unit supporting several blinds(15) or shades operation via a single cable line (11).
  • a lower purchase price is guaranteed because of the need to buy only the mechanism (14) with the control unit (10), instead of buying new blinds with built-in electric drive and electronics and the need to buy only one more economically demanding electronics (control unit (10)) for several blinds.
  • the control of the blinds consists of mounting the mechanism (14) on the control chain (13) of the blinds or shades, whereby the chain (13) is guided by a wheel (4) comprising a portion of the ball chain negative, and is further guided in the rear part of the housing (5), which includes guide grooves and thus ensures its continuous guidance, whereby the control wheel (4) also contains a groove for the motor shaft (1), which drives the wheel (4) based on the control unit (10) and an electronic circuit (3) of the mechanism.
  • the system is able to not only raise and lower the lamellas of the blinds (16) or shades, but also to rotate and position the lamellas of the blinds in any position.
  • the method of mounting this mechanism (14) comprises placing (7) the rear of the mechanism housing (5) against a window (12) or door frame, inserting (8) a chain (13) into the guide grooves of the housing, then placing (9) the assembly of the wheel (4) mounted on the motor shaft (1), which is part of the front housing (2) of the mechanism and securing the system by pushing it on the rear housing (5) until the system is rigidly connected.
  • This method of assembly can be carried out in a matter of seconds, is requiring no intervention in the construction of the window or blinds (15) and even requires no tools or fasteners.
  • a great advantage for the consumer is also the method of control and protection of the mechanism itself (14), in which the mechanism (14) comprises an electronic circuit (3) into which power is supplied via connectors (6) and is controlled by the control unit (10), which provides control and protection of the motor (1) itself by detecting the current drawn by the motor (1).
  • the control unit (10) which provides control and protection of the motor (1) itself by detecting the current drawn by the motor (1).
  • the control unit (10) In the event of an overload due to the motor (1) being blocked by the end position of the lamellas (16) or shades, it safely disconnects the motor (1) from the electrical power, which is registered by the control unit (10) and turn off the electrical supply if all electric motors are already disconnected (1).
  • This unique way of controlling the mechanism (14) allows even lower purchase price, since it is possible to connect several drive mechanisms (14) to one cable line (11) run from one control unit (10). Thus, there is no need to route a cable from the control unit (10) separately to each motor (1), thereby achieving control of several blinds (15) by one control unit (10).
  • Another advantage of the invention is the possibility of applying the same device with the same drive mechanism (14) to other types of window coverings such as vertical blinds (15), shades and exterior systems. There is also no need for cutting the grooves for electrical installation, as the electrical power supply system works from a conventional household electrical outlet, and there is no need to install a switch because the control unit (10) contains Wi-Fi, which controls the system remotely.
  • Another advantage of this system compared to the systems supplied by the solar power is that there is enough electrical power to completely lift and lower the lamellas (16) at any time of day and night, and there is no need to purchase and regularly replace the battery to maintain sufficient power. At the same time, however, this solution does not exclude the use of solar energy as a source of electricity, if necessary.
  • Figure 1 shows a method of mounting the control mechanism. This figure best describes the invention and therefore this figure should be published with an abstract.
  • Figure 2 shows internal arrangement of the mechanism.

  • Embodiment 1 The structure of the system for performing the method of controlling the blinds 15 is shown in Figure 3, where the drive mechanism 14 is mounted on the window frame 12.
  • the blinds 15 itself are composed of lamellas 16 and is fastened to the top of the window or door frame 12.
  • the drive mechanism 14 is very easy and quick to mount, which is a great advantage for the user.
  • the control is performed by a ball chain 13 which forms a loop.
  • This chain 13 is guided and controlled by a mechanism 14 comprising an electric motor 1 and a wheel 4, which comprise a portion of the ball chain negative.
  • the mechanism 14 is controlled by the control unit 10 and the electronic circuit 3 which the mechanism contains.
  • the control unit 10 is programmed and offers a complete solution for consumers in which blinds can be handled remotely via computer or a smartphone.
  • the blinds control mechanism 14 can be fully automated by a light sensor mounted on the window. This light sensor sends signals directly to the control unit 10, which sends a command to the electronic circuit 3 of the mechanism that moves the lamellas 16 using the motor 1.
  • Embodiment 2 The embodiment of the invention is the same as in Embodiment 1, but the invention can be applied to a shades. By such an application it is possible to achieve automatic lift and lowering control of the shades by controlling the chain 13 using the mechanism 14 shown in Figure 2.
  • Embodiment 3 The embodiment of the invention is the same as in Embodiment 1, but a system of multiple vertical blinds is operated, all of which are controlled by a single cable line 11, allowing the user a more comfortable and faster assembly and a more esthetically pleasing impression.
