Abstract

Disclosed herein is an apparatus for simultaneous performing and visualization of thin layer chromatography (TLC). The apparatus may include a housing; at least one tank disposed inside the housing and adapted to accommodate a mobile phase and a TLC plate; a visualizing system including at least one array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) and at least one ultraviolet (UV) light source, both disposed inside the housing; and a transparent filter adapted to cover a front portion of said housing. Said at least one array of LEDs and the at least one UV light source are adapted to illuminate an adsorbent surface of the TLC plate with a light spectrum within 250 to 480 nm. The transparent filter may include at least one of a band-pass filter, and a UV-block filter; wherein the band-pass filter is adapted to pass a light spectrum with a certain wavelength emitted from one or more specimens spotted/deposited on the adsorbent surface of the TLC plate.
