Description

An Improved Hoisting System
This application is patent of addition of the patent application 201611023656 filed on date 11/07/2016.
Field of Invention:
The present invention relates to a hoisting system for hoisting or lowering a suspended object and more particularly it relates to a hoisting system, having rope drum with annulus gearings inside.
Background of Invention:
Hoists have long been known in which a drum has a length of wire rope wound and unwound thereon as the drum is rotated in either direction to position a load held by the wire rope. According to one typical configuration of conventional hoisting system, it includes a rope drum that is configured with plurality of grooves on the surface thereof for receiving wire rope to be wound and unwound, a multistage planetary reduction gear disposed inside the rope drum and connected to an electric motor disposed in front of the face of a drum mounted on a carrying frame itself connected to the planetary reduction gear by means of a stem at its last stage for rortably driving said rope drum. In general, a long rope is attached at one end to a spool and the other end is fitted with a hook or other type of attachment. The hook is attached to an object that is to be moved and the spool (drum) is rotated to wind the rope onto the spool and thereby pull the object toward the spool.
One such hoisting system has been disclosed in US patent US5280880 that relates to a hoisting system includes a hoisting drum around which two hoisting ropes are wound in respective hoist rope grooves. The hoisting ropes are secured to the hoisting drum at one end, and extend down to a suspended device a crane hook. A slip-ring assembly establishes an electrical connection to the cable, so as to permit power to be supplied to the suspended device.
However, such conventional hoisting systems leave some scope of improvements. The drawbacks of this known hoisting system are its comparatively low reliability resulting from the rigid connection with the planetary reduction gear, and in the necessity of over dimensioning the drum required by the means for the transmitting of the torque from the electric motor to the first stage of the planetary reduction gear. Hence, it leads to over size and complicates structure of the overall system. The draw works itself can include a rotatable drum or spool upon which the wire rope or fast line can be wound or coiled (or unwound or uncoiled) by a power assembly that includes a motor. A dry brake can apply a counter force to the motor torque. The motor, or sometimes a plurality of motors, are mechanically coupled to the drum through a gearbox or transmission, using one or more belts, chains, or geared assemblies. The motor(s) and gearbox are fixed to a stationary structure adjacent to the drum. Because of the relatively high horsepower requirements, each of the plurality of motors is mechanically coupled to the gearbox through the mechanical coupling for providing torque to the drum. Further, the drawbacks associated with the conventional hoisting system are that it is having increased size and weight of the hoist. Thus, the conventional hoisting system is having comparatively lower reliability resulting from the rigid connection with the planetary reduction gear, and in the necessity of over dimensioning the drum required by the means for the transmitting of the torque from the electric motor to the first stage of the planetary reduction gear.
Hence, it is desirable to provide an improved hoisting system with greater durability and to provide reduced weight and size without sacrificing durability and pulling capacity.
Object of Invention:
The main object of present invention is to provide a hoisting system having rope drum with annulus gearing inside.
Another object of the present invention is an improved hoisting system wherein an annulus gearing and spacers of rings are single part of hoist rope drum. Yet another object of the invention is an improved hoisting system to develop rope drum with annulus gearings system in which gearbox of rope drum and motor at same end so it is directly coupled and no need of any long type and coupling arrangement of power transmission shaft from motor end to gearbox input end.
Yet another object of the invention is an improved hoisting system having to develop a rope drum with annulus gearings system having one side input and output shaft of gearbox at axis of a gearbox to prevent leakage of oil in case of partially filled gearbox for the splash lubrication.
Yet another object of the invention an improved hoisting system is to develop rope drum with annulus gearings system in which bearing housing works as a flange of rope drum.
Yet another object of the invention is an improved hoisting system wherein any further flange and coupling for power transmission to the rope drum are not required.
Yet another object of the invention is an improved hoisting system to develop Rope drum with annulus gearings system which can overcome the shortcomings and drawbacks of the prior art hoisting system. Summary of Invention:
The present invention relates to an improved hoisting system which comprises hollow main body having an open bottom to receive hoist rope having free end equipped with lifting hook being suspended downwardly for hoisting and lowering of loads; a rope drum longitudinally rotatably mounted within the main body; the rope drum has spiral cut grooves at outer surface and annulus gearing circularly at inner surface thereof, bearing housing disposed at the hoist rope drum alongside the first end of the body and bearing housing located at second end of the main body; multistage planetary arrangements being completely mounted within the rope drum. Thus, annulus gearing arrangement of hoist of the present invention is to reduce the diameter of the drum to elimination of separated annulus gearings.

It should be noted that the figures are not drawn to scale and that elements of similar structures or functions are generally represented by like reference numerals for illustrative purposes throughout the figures. It also should be noted that the figures are only intended to facilitate the description of the preferred embodiments. The figures do not illustrate every aspect of the described embodiments and do not limit the scope of the present disclosure.
Detailed Description of Invention:
Before explaining the present invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of the construction and arrangement of parts illustrated in the accompany drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiment, as depicted in different figures as described above and of being practiced or carried out in a variety of ways. It is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. The present invention particularly discloses the hoisting system for hoisting or lowering a suspended object in various industrial fields. Used in this invention the motor is a motor in which electrical energy is used to generate mechanical work by rotation. It should be noted that the term "hoisting member" may include (mechanical/tension, optical or electrical), steel wire rope, cord. Further, the term "working surface" includes an outer surface. Reference now to the drawings, more particularly Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, the hoisting system (1) according to present invention mainly comprises a body (2) with two opposite ends (2F, 2S) and having mounting flanges of square frame design to form a hollow interior therein and open beneath to permit a hoisting member (3) to extend downwardly in the manner as discussed below, a rope drum (4) being longitudinally rotatably mounted within the main body (2), a hoist motor (5) anchored with the mounting flange (6) at one end of the body (2F) through a fastening means (7), the rope drum (4) has spiral cut grooves (10) at outer surface and annulus gearing circularly at inner surface thereof, an electro magnetic hoist brake (8) anchored with the hoist motor (5) for holding a load in static position when the hoist motor (5) is in running condition, said break (8) is directly applied to the drive shaft (15) or some parts of the hoist rope drum (4), a shock resistant thermoplastic covered control panel (11) being linearly anchored with the body (2) in the proximity of the bearing housing (9b). The hoist motor (5) and the rope drum (4) are powered and controlled via said control panel (11), with one or more wires enclosed in. Under the control of the control panel (11), the hoist motor (5) and the planetary arrangement (13) causes the suspended device (12) to raise and lower as desired. It also comprises a bottom block assembly (24) having plurality of sheaves (25) around which the hoisting members (3) being extended from the rope drum (4) are passed. Said suspended device (lifting hook) (12) is attached to the sheave (25) and suspended by the hoisting members (3). The advantage of the arrangement of the annulus gearing is the total weight of the gearbox and total number of the gear box components is reduced.
It is seen that the rope drum (4) is configured by forming the spiral cut grooves (10) on working surface thereof so that the necessity of the rope drum as in conventional hoisting system is eliminated. Here, when the hoist motor (5) is actuated, the hoist brake (8) is released and thereby the hoist motor (5) is rotated that causes the rope drum (4) to be rotated. Hence, the hoisting member (3) wound on the rope drum (4) moves the lifting hook and thereby the load (object) to up and down. Thereby compact, high performing and maintenance friendly hoisting system (1) is achieved.
Further, as shown in Fig. 1, it should be noted that the hoist motor (4) is directly mounted to the rope drum (4) that eliminates the use of the external geared coupling between the gearbox and the motor. Thus, the complexity of the overall system is reduced and the maintenance of the component becomes easy. Further, it should also be noted that the motor is provided with a source of electric current for the driving of the same by any of the usual means, not shown and is preferably AC motor. The features discussed in foregoing description allow the suspended device (12) to move along the vertical axis. The mechanism for horizontal traveling of the suspended device (12) along a rail (not shown) in industries.
Now as shown in Fig. 3, the hoisting system (1) further comprises a cross travel gearbox (16) that may be planetary gear train, a cross travel motor (17) directly coupled to said cross travel gearbox (16), a trolley frames (18) having a pair of vertically extending trolley side plates (18a) being anchored with the body (2) and that are parallel and spaced apart by spacer (not shown) and also can be adjusted according to size of a lifting beam (not shown), at least four wheels (21) attached with said trolley frame (18) to suit the lifting beam and for performing horizontal translation of the trolley (18) along the beam by said cross travel motor (17). Here, entire hoisting system (1) moves horizontally along with the movement of the trolley frame (18) through said wheels (21).
Further, one end of said elongated hoisting member (3) is secured onto the rope drum (4). However, the free end of the hoisting member (3) is necessary to attach in some manner for lifting of the suspended device (12). For that, another end of said hoisting member (3) is attached with a wedge socket assembly (20). The suspended device (12) is attached to the wedge socket assembly (20) either directly via a jaw and pin formed integrally into the wedge socket assembly (20). Said wheels (21) are preferably made from, but not limited to, alloy steel. This material has high inherent vibration damping effect, is particularly gentle on runway and offer low noise running characteristics. It rotates on permanently lubricated antifriction ball bearings which guarantee for long service life. The suspended device (lifting hook) (12) is made of highly resistant drop-forged steel and is mounted on swinging cross beam. It rotates on a thrust bearing and has a safety device to avoid unhooking. Said sheave (25) is grooved mechanically and rotates on bearings which are permanently lubricated. Further, said sheave (25) is permanently located and supported by two pivots which allow it to be orientated depending on the vertical axis of the hoisting member (3). Here, the load to be lifted and lowered is suspended on the lifting hook (12).
Moreover, the helical teeth in all internal gears (planetary gears and sun gear) of the cross travel gearbox (16) are cut with great precision in cemented steel, assuring silent running, great reliability and long life. The drive from the cross travel motor (17) to the cross travel gearbox (16) is direct for avoiding of geared coupling which have a tendency to fail. All the gears are lubricated by oil bath in the interior of closed casing, machining of the gears location is made by high precision machine tools. Said rope drum (4) is also equipped with a rope guide (19) in spheroidal graphite cast iron that allows the wire rope (hoisting member) (3) to correctly fit in the inner spiral groove (10) thereof and also protects the hoist system against extreme loads resulting from pulling, swinging load and rope vibration.
Further, the control panel (11) includes a rotary geared limit switch (22) (shown in Fig. 1) that is axially mounted with respect to the rope drum (4) and the hoist motor (5) for controlling the up and down motion of the suspended device (lifting hook) (12) by tripping the motor supply.
The invention has been explained in relation to specific embodiment. It is inferred that the foregoing description is only illustrative of the present invention and it is not intended that the invention be limited or restrictive thereto. Many other specific embodiments of the present invention will be apparent to one skilled in the art from the foregoing disclosure. All substitution, alterations and modification of the present invention which come within the scope of the following claims are to which the present invention is readily susceptible without departing from the spirit of the invention.
