Abstract
The present invention relates to a handrest used as a right hand support during the performance of a musical instrument called bassoon.
Description
HANDREST FOR A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, ESPECIALLY BASSOON
TECH N I CAL FI ELD OF THE I NVENTI ON
This invention is about the improvement of a specific part called “HANDREST360” (handrest) of the musical instrument called “bassoon” used as right hand support during execution.
PRI OR ART
Bassoon is derived from “Curtal” which is a single pieced instrument with double reed, encountered in Europe of 16th century. Sound interval of bassoon is 3.5 octave and it is made of maple wood and metal joints. Bassoon is the developed version of a member folded in two and carved as a cone.
Handrest is used as right hand support during bassoon performance. There are many types of support called handrest for right-hand support.
I n the state of the art, the reason for the existence of a wide variety of handrest is related to both the different physiological structure of humans and the finger positions required by the work performed.
The fixed handrest present in the conventional system of the prior art provides comfort in some positions but not in other positions. I n the traditional system, this problem is tried to be solved by using different forms of fixed handrest.
I n the state of the art patent documents US7566825B2 and JP2008139766A are included. These patent documents describe handrest holders. The handrest and the handrest holders of the present invention do not have a practical structure for use in every bassoon. Figure-1 shows the shapes of asparagus holders of different bassoon brands. Each handrest holder has different screw locations. Opening new screw holes on the instrument for a new asparagus holder is not desirable for instrument owners. Since the bassoon prices are high, it is not preferred to open new screw holes by deteriorating the authenticity of the bassoon as it will hold a new handrest holder.
BRI EF DESCRI PTI ON OF THE I NVENTI ON
The current invention relates to a handrest that is used as a right hand support during the performance of a musical instrument called bassoon, which satisfies the aforementioned requirements.
The object of the invention is to facilitate thrills in all octaves used in the right hand in the bassoon.
Another object of the invention is to provide ease of access for curtains that are difficult to reach when played with fixed handrest as it maneuvers like a 360-degree car gear lever in all positions made with the right hand.
Another object of the invention is to provide universal performance for each performer regardless of the way of using the bassoon and the angle in which the performers using different bassoon conveying apparatus and es pipe can quickly eliminate the difficulty of playing at the different position given by this change due to the change of hand positions.
I t is a further object of the invention to control all inclinations and body contours of the body so that the handrest fits the performer.
Another object of the invention is to neutralize differences in physiological length and shortness of the fingers.
Another object of the invention is to minimize the orthopedic problems caused by the holding position of the bassoon, especially in the wrist region.

DETAI LED DESCRI PTI ON OF TH E I NVENTI ON
I n this detailed description, the novelty of the invention is illustrated only by examples which will have no limiting effect on a better understanding of the subject matter. Accordingly, in the following description and figures, an handrest is used as a right hand support during the performance of a musical instrument called bassoon.
Figure-2 shows the side view of the handrest holder. The handrest holder (B) is located in all bassoons. Handrest (A) is placed on the handrest holder (B) . However, handrest (A) of the prior art is fixed to the handrest holder (B) .
Figure 3 is a view of the handrest (A) of the present invention. The handrest (A) of the present invention is suitable for the handrest holder (B) in each bassoon. What makes the handrest (A) moveable is not in the handrest holder (B) but in the handrest (A) mechanism. Handrest (A) , which has the ability to move during bassoon performance, is centered on the handrest (A) by means of the tapered spring (3) after being used at any angle.
Hand rest (A) has;
• A finger rest area (1 ) where the bassoon performer places his finger on,
• A screw (6) that secures the handrest (A) to the handrest holder (B) ,
• A body (5) on which one end of the screw (6) is fixed and fits on the handrest holder (B) ,
• A bearing ball (4) which is placed inside the body (6) and enables the handrest (A) to move 360 degrees,
· To the interconnecting pole (2) providing the connection between the ball bearing (4) and the finger rest area (1 ) ,
I n one embodiment of the invention, handrest (A) has a tapered spring (3) that surrounds the interconnecting pole (2) and allows the handrest (A) to be centered after being used at an angle.
Claims
1 . A handrest used as a right hand support during the performance of a musical instrument called bassoon (A) , characterized by comprising ;
• A finger rest area (1 ) where the bassoon performer places his finger on,
• A screw (6) that secures the handrest (A) to the handrest holder (B) ,
• A body (5) on which one end of the screw (6) is fixed and fits on the handrest holder (B) ,
• A bearing ball (4) which is placed inside the body (6) and enables the handrest (A) to move 360 degrees,
• An interconnecting pole (2) which provides the connection between the ball bearing (4) and the finger seating ( 1 ) ,
2. A handrest according to Claim 1 , characterized in that it comprises a conical spring (3) that surrounds the interconnecting pole (2) and allows the handrest (A) to be centered after being used at an angle.
