Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the technical field of mechanics, fluid mechanics, adulterated alcoholic beverages detection devices, and more specifically to methanol detection devices in beverages, since it provides a lid with an element to detect methanol in alcoholic drinks.
  • Alcohol is a colorless and volatile liquid that is present in various fermented beverages, in concentrations ranging from 5% to 20%, as is the case with beer and wines respectively. Some of these ferments are distilled by means of an alembic to increase their ethyl concentration up to 40%; This is how tequila, whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, anise, etc. are produced. Depending on the type of drink that contains it, alcohol appears accompanied by different chemical elements that give it color, flavor, smell and other characteristics (Encyclopedia Larouse Volume I. 1999. Editorial Larouse. 10 *. Edition. Barcelona, Spain).
  • Methanol (CH30H) is called methyl alcohol or "wood” alcohol because it was originally obtained from the distillation of this raw material in the absence of air. Currently it can be produced from natural gas, coal, wood, and even organic waste (cellulosic biomass). It is the simplest of the alcohols and is characterized by being colorless. It was discovered by Boyle in 1661 in wood tar (The Merck Index. 13 a . Edition. Merck Co. Inc. Rahway, NJ, USA. 1983. p. 853).
