Definitions
- the present invention refers to a simulated virtual education platform for healthcare professionals and academics. This innovation is aimed at the field of education and health, with the final consumer, individuals, institutions and companies in the health area as clients.
- the education platform developed based on the Edgar Dale Pyramid, aims to educate health professionals and will have all the resources involving the different forms of methodologies, such as: theoretical classes, readings, audiovisual, demonstrations, forum for discussion, tests and tests, virtual simulator of clinical cases, social resources, learning by doing and teaching others by recording videos to be made available to other users.
- the objective of the invention is to provide a simulated virtual education platform for health professionals and academics that is a world reference with a totally innovative methodology. This platform focuses on learning, generating content and greater interactivity with the student.
- the present invention aims to provide a simulated virtual education platform for healthcare professionals that is a world reference with a totally innovative methodology.
- This platform has a set of functionalities in order to promote the complete learning of users through concepts presented in the Learning Pyramid of Edgar Dale, such as: audiovisual resources; Discussion Forum; resources to test users' knowledge through tests and tests with multiple choice questions; virtual simulator of clinical cases, where through a three-dimensional scenario, the user must perform the care of fictitious patients by correctly executing the pre-established protocols with specific debriefing for each action taken; video recording resources that can be made available to other users of the platform; social and evolutionary features, such as user profile, user groups, following users' posts, levels and “ranking” of scores.
- the present invention refers to a simulated virtual education platform for healthcare professionals that is a world reference with a totally innovative methodology.
- the educational platform has a set of functionalities in order to promote the complete learning of users through concepts presented in the Learning Pyramid of Edgar Dale.
- the case management system is based on the Web and allows the management of parameters, actions, protocols and clinical cases, in order to keep the simulator always updated and to increase the number of cases and variables.
- Each clinical case has a set of data and parameters, allowing the analysis of information by the user as soon as the correct care is performed.
- the stages of each clinical case are the stages that the patient can have within that service. Every clinical case begins with an internship (figure 4) that the user will use to identify the case and take the necessary measures.
- parameters (figure 3, 4, 5 and 6) and actions (figure 8) are defined, which can be created at any time, if necessary.
- the parameters are the patient's condition at that stage and if any patient parameter is not described in the stage, it will then be inherited from the previous stage.
- the list of actions, which are correct or incorrect, are possible to be performed at this stage of the process.
- the parameters determine the patient's condition.
- the parameters that can be configured follow: pulmonary and cardiac auscultation, capillary glycemia, cardiac rhythms, spontaneous breathing, capillary filling time, patient-reported pain score / scale, heart rate, regular rhythm, scale Glasgow, level of consciousness, gastrointestinal bleeding, respiratory rate, pulmonary percussion, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, central pulse, among others.
- Each action can have application options, such as defibrillation, where the user must choose the potency or drugs in which the user must choose the desired dosage.
- Protocols (figure 10) are standard services that must be followed for the treatment of a given situation. As soon as the user identifies a condition in the patient, he must start attending the protocol immediately.
- the steps are related through links, which can be edited and are represented by lines as seen in figures 11 and 12, where the actions are identified by the correct (1), incorrect (2) and partially correct (3) lines ).
- Each step can have more than one correct action, which may or may not be mandatory and have an exact order to be performed.
- a clinical case due to its complexity, may contain several protocols in its flowchart, as can be seen in figure 10, which contains 4 different protocols within its standard care.
- the protocols work similarly to clinical cases, having a flowchart that determines the steps, parameters and possible actions to be performed.
- the platform presents content in written form, through texts, documents and teaching materials and also through streaming videos. Video-type videos, as well as interview programs, where issues related to health will be discussed, will be made available.
- the platform has, in addition to the video classes, an interview program recorded in a studio with a specific scenario, where there will be a fixed presenter and each program will receive a different guest (s) who is a professional reference in the medical area, where the guest and the presenter will discuss a real clinical case from beginning to end, following a standard program script.
- the platform contains a discussion forum, where doubts and other related matters can be posted.
- the questions available in the discussion forum will be open for consultation and may be indexed by a search engine, such as Google. Only registered users of the platform will be able to register, reply and vote in the discussion forum.
- Both the question and the answers can receive positive and negative votes from other users, allowing both the questions and their respective answers to be ordered by relevance, making access to information faster and more objective.
- the user who created the question will also be able to mark one of the answers as correct, making that answer stand out on the question page.
- Each vote received in the discussion forum will convert into a score for the user who received the vote. This score will be counted in a ranking showing the most engaged users on the platform.
- the platform will have a scoring system that can be acquired through engagement within the platform, as an example, through the viewing of didactic content and videos, questions, answers and votes in the discussion forum, resolution of simulated tests, etc.
- the user's score will place you in the platform's engagement ranking.
- the user will be able to filter the ranking as he wishes, for example, general ranking of the platform, ranking among his friends and participating groups.
- All content on the platform will be related to previously defined tags, and these tags will serve as a filter for the content of the platform.
- Each user will be able to define in their profile what are their favorite tags, and with that, customize the content displayed on the platform according to their preferences and needs.
- the user will be able to test his knowledge through tests and tests with multiple choice questions. After performing the test, the user will receive their grade and comments on the questions.
- the user will also have at his disposal, on the platform, a virtual simulator (figures 13 and 14) of clinical cases, where through a 3D scenario, the user must perform the care of fictitious patients by correctly executing the pre-established protocols. Looking for greater realism, all actions, both correct and wrong, will generate consequences, and may even cause the death of the virtual patient. At the end of the procedure, the user will have a "checklist" informing him of his correct and incorrect actions, and complementary content to assist in learning.
- the user will have a platform where he can teach the studied content, recording videos and making it available to friends and other users of the platform.
- the recorded videos will be made available within the platform and may receive comments and votes.
- the platform will be programmed to join the words or phrases in a logical way and thus allow a more reliable interaction with the student.
- the student has different ways of asking the patient (virtual simulator) how he is feeling. For example: “How are you?”, “Are you all right?”, “Are you all right?” the program will be able to identify the different forms of the same question and will provide an adequate and standardized answer.
- the platform also has social and evolution features, such as user profile, user groups, following users' posts, levels and "ranking" of scores.
- This platform has the following benefits: greater dynamism in learning; increased likelihood of content retention; all the possibilities of content retention available for the student to choose the one that best fits his profile; greater interactivity with the platform and with other students and teachers; personal evolution; "Network"; access to free and indexed content on major search engines; content filtering using smart keywords; virtual simulator.
- Brazil is currently the country with the largest number of medical schools in the world, totaling around 310 colleges and it certainly will not stop there.
