Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electrode stack for a galvanic cell and a manufacturing method for an electrode stack for a galvanic cell.
- DE 10 2016 203918 A1 discloses a method for producing an electrode stack (10) for a battery cell.
- An electrode stack for a galvanic cell having layers, the layer sequence comprising at least one layer with cathode support material (cathode support layer) and a cathode coating and / or at least one layer with anode support material (anode support layer) and an anode coating .
- the electrode stack is processed in such a way that a chamfered surface or chamfer is created, so that the application of separator layers on the chamfered surface or chamfer is simplified, in particular that during application separator layers on a surface of the electrode stack, the inclined surface or chamfer can also be coated.
- the electrode stack has on at least one side at least one chamfered surface with an angle of at least 95 degrees to the interfaces between the layers of the electrode stack.
- the angle is between 105 degrees and 150 degrees.
- the coating of the beveled surface with separator layers is particularly simplified, without the beveling having too great negative effects on the other structure of the electrode stack.
- the anode and cathode can advantageously have the same lateral extension since the formation of electrical short circuits is avoided. Alignment requirements are reduced because the anode does not necessarily have to be larger.
- the space utilization can be optimized, since in the area of the cathode flag no additional separator protrusion has to be provided for the insulation.
- a bevel starting from the lower surface and a bevel starting from the surface of the electrode stack are applied, each forming an angle greater than 95 degrees or preferably an angle between 105 and 150 degrees to interfaces between the layers of the electrode composite. This can cause an application the separator layers from two sides and thus the application process can be improved.
- the electrode stack described and the methods described for the manufacture of an electrode stack are used in preferred configurations for an accumulator. In alternative configurations, they can be used for a fuel cell.

- the electrode assembly in galvanic cells in particular accumulators such as PLIT cells, is usually an electrode stack. It consists of a continuous sequence of anode, separator and cathode layers.
- the anode and cathode sheets can be cut out of a continuous band, for example by means of a laser process.
- the angle between the cut surface or cut edge and the interfaces between the layers (or the electrode surface) is usually approximately 90 degrees. Only the conical shape of the cutting edge through the laser process can lead to a slight deviation.

- the cathode should therefore be smaller than the anode and separator to avoid dendrite formation and direct electrical short circuits.
- the free-standing edge of the larger electrode usually the anode
- This must be taken into account in particular at the position at which the cathode flag emerges from the electrode assembly.
- Electrode stacks from other processes in which e.g. the separator layers are applied to one of the electrode sheets before cutting the electrode sheets, have the same problem with the insulation of the electrode assembly.
- FIG. 3 shows an electrode stack 3 which has a cathode carrier material 12 with a cathode flag 121, a cathode coating 11, a cathode coating 13, a separator layer 34, an anode carrier material 32, an anode coating 31 and an anode coating 33.
- the cathode flag 121 emerges from the electrode stack and is close to that which is exposed at the cut surface, i.e. there is no separator layer having anode carrier material 32, there is an increased risk of short circuit.
- Fig. 4 shows an electrode stack 4, which corresponds to the stack of electrodes in Fig. 1 in the layer sequence.
- Various electrode compositions can be used as the material of the cathode coatings, for example NCA, NCM811, NCM11, LFP or sulfur, plus binder and conductive carbon black.
- the material for the anode coatings can be, for example, metallic lithium or lithium alloyed with indium or other compositions such as carbon or silicon and carbon, plus binder and conductive carbon black are used.
- a conductive support structure such as a metal foil, an expanded metal or a conductive fabric, can be used as carrier materials.
- a beveled cut surface 400 is now hen.
- FIG. 5 shows the electrode stack from FIG. 4 after section along the sectional surface 400.
- a bevel or beveled surface 400 is created by the cut along the beveled cut surface. Between the bevelled surface 400 and the interfaces between the layers 13 and 12 or
- the contour cutting of the electrode sheets, on which the separator is later to be brought up, is carried out by changing the beam position in FIG. 4 in comparison to FIG. 1 so that a circumferential chamfer is produced.
- the circumferential chamfer has in particular angles between 30 degrees and 75 degrees to one surface (correspondingly between 105 degrees and 150 degrees to the other surface).
- the electrode stack from FIG. 6 corresponds to the electrode stack from FIG. 5, after a separator layer 60 has been applied to the surfaces formed by the outer surfaces of the coatings 11 and 13 and to the chamfered surface or chamfer.

Starting from the two surfaces formed by the outer surfaces of the cathode coatings 11 and 13, the electrode stack was chamfered by two cut surfaces on the side. The one cut surface starts from the underside (here formed by the outer surface of the coating 11) and the other cut surface from the upper side (here formed by the outer surface of the coating 13).
- a separator layer 70 can now be applied from above and below (one after the other or in parallel) in such a way that the chamfered surfaces on the side of the electrode stack are also insulated.
- the contour cutting of the electrode sheets takes place after the application of the separator to the surfaces of the electrode stack.
- 8 shows as the electrode stack 8 a cathode composite with a cathode carrier material 12, cathode coatings 11 and 13 and layers 84 (on layer 11) and 85 (on coating 13) already applied before the cut along the cutting surface 800.
- the beveled surface or chamfer along the cutting surface 800 corresponds to that of FIGS.
- the electrode stack in FIG. 9 corresponds to the electrode stack in FIG. 8 after a separator layer 96 has been applied to the chamfered surface or chamfer.
- a cathode composite 100 is shown with a cathode layer 12, cathode coatings 11 and 13 and separator layers 104 (on coating 11) and 105 (also coating 13) applied before cutting. Comparable to that described in FIG. 7, two chamfered surfaces can also be provided here as chamfer, onto which the separator layer 110 can then be applied.
- Various processes can be used to apply the separator layers, for example aerosol deposition, physical vapor deposition, chemical vapor deposition, sputtering, spray processes, screen printing. Possible materials for the separator layers include ceramic insulators such as aluminum oxide or titanium oxide and plastic insulators such as PP or PE.

Description
Beschreibung
Titel
