In particular, the information provided by the vehicle identification number includes model of the vehicle, make of the vehicle, country of production of the vehicle, manufacturing year of the vehicle, vehicle serial number etc.
[0003] The vehicle identification number may be provided at various locations on the vehicle. In case of two-wheeled vehicle, the vehicle identification number is often inscribed at inaccessible locations, e.g., on a portion of a frame of the two wheeled vehicle. Typically, the portion of the frame of the two wheeled vehicle where the vehicle identification number is inscribed, is covered under one or more panel members. Owing to such position of the vehicle identification number on the frame of the vehicle, getting access to the vehicle identification number and the information associated therewith, has hitherto remained cumbersome, difficult, and time consuming. SUMMARY OF INVENTION
[0004] In one aspect of the present invention, a vehicle is provided. The vehicle comprises a frame structure having a vehicle identification information inscribed thereon. The vehicle also comprises a panel structure enclosing at least portion of the frame structure. The panel structure comprises a first panel and a second panel. The vehicle further comprises a system for impressioning the vehicle identification information. The system comprises a first opening defined on the second panel of the panel structure. The first opening is disposed so as to align with at least portion of the vehicle identification information inscribed on the frame structure. The first opening is adapted to receive an impression creating member.
The system also comprises a second opening defined on the first panel of the panel structure. The second opening is provided at an offset from the first opening. The second opening is adapted to receive an impressionable sheet material. The impressionable sheet material received through the second opening is adapted to be aligned with the vehicle identification information inscribed on the frame structure.
The movement of the impression creating member inserted through the first opening causes creation of impression of the vehicle identification information on the impressionable sheet material. In an embodiment, the impressionable sheet material when inserted through the second opening is positioned between the frame structure and the second panel. In an embodiment, the first panel embodies a bottom panel and the second panel embodies a first side panel. In an embodiment, the impression creating member is one of a pencil and a pen. In an embodiment, the impressionable sheet material is a paper.
[0005] With the system for impressioning the vehicle identification number as disclosed in the present invention, the system comprising the first opening and the second opening, allows insertion of impression creating member such as pencil and a pen through the first opening, and allows insertion of the insertion of impressionable sheet material through the second opening. The movement of the impression creating member inserted through the first opening causes creation of impression of the vehicle identification information on the impressionable sheet material. Further, by providing separate openings for the impressionable sheet material and the impression creating member, chances of impressionable sheet material getting damaged by the impression creating member have been substantially reduced, by the system for determining vehicle identification information.
[0006] In an embodiment, the system further comprises a set of impressionable sheet material guides. The set of impressionable sheet material guides are disposed adjacent to the vehicle identification information inscribed on the frame structure. In an embodiment, the set of impressionable sheet material guides are disposed on the frame structure. In an embodiment, the set of impressionable sheet material guides are disposed on the second panel. In an embodiment, the set of impressionable sheet material guides are separated by a predetermined distance. The predetermined distance between the set of impressionable sheet material guides is equal to a length of the second opening. The set of impressionable sheet material guides appropriately align the impressionable sheet material with the frame structure wherein the vehicle identification information ( 150) is inscribed, thereby eliminating a need of having a separate stay, or member bearing the VIN, extending from the frame structure towards the panel structure.
[0007] In another aspect of the present invention, a method of impressioning a vehicle identification information of a vehicle is provided. The method comprises inserting an impressionable sheet material through a second opening defined on a first panel of a panel structure to align the impressionable sheet material with the vehicle identification information of the vehicle inscribed on a frame structure. The method also comprises inserting an impression creating member through a first opening defined on a second panel of the panel structure to contact the impressionable sheet material. The method further comprises moving the impression creating member, within the first opening while being in contact with the impressionable sheet material to create an impression of the vehicle identification information of the vehicle thereon. The method provides an easy and effective way of impressioning the vehicle identification information on the impressionable sheet material using the impression creating member.

Likewise, the second side panel (204) is connected to the second mounting member (148) of the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100). In one embodiment, the bottom panel (200) is connected to the body frame (130) via the first side panel (202) and the second side panel (204).
[00033] In the illustrated example, the first side panel (202), upon being coupled to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100) is positioned adjacent to the portion of the body frame (130) having the vehicle identification information (150), inscribed thereon. Further, the first side panel (202), upon being coupled to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100) is positioned at a predetermined distance from the first mounting member (146), particularly, from the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146). [00034] Referring now to Figures 5, 6 and 7, the vehicle (100) comprises a system (250) for impressioning the vehicle identification number (150) provided on the frame structure (140). As shown in Figure 5, the system (250) comprises a first opening (206) defined on the first side panel (202). In the disclosed embodiment, the first opening (206) has a rectangular profile. In other embodiments, the first opening
(206) has any other profile, such as rounded rectangular profile, square profile, without deviating from the spirit of the present disclosure. The first opening (206) aligns with the first mounting member (146), when the first side panel (202) is coupled to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100). More particularly, when the first side panel (202) is connected to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100), the first opening (206) is positioned over the portion of the body frame (130) having the vehicle identification information (150), inscribed thereon.
[00035] The first opening (206) has a predetermined length and a predetermined width. The first opening (206) is disposed so as to align with at least portion of the vehicle identification information (150). In an embodiment, the length of the first opening (206) is equal to the length through which the vehicle identification information (150) extends on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146). Alternatively, the length of the first opening (206) is equal or greater than the length through which the vehicle identification information (150) extends on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146). Likewise, the width of the first opening
(206) is equal to the width through which the vehicle identification information (150) extends on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146). Alternatively, the width of the first opening (206) is equal or greater than the width through which the vehicle identification information (150) spreads on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146).
[00036] It may herein be noted that although the present disclosure describes the first opening (206) to be present on the first side panel (202) and aligned with the vehicle identification information (150) on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146), in alternative examples a third opening (not shown) similar to the first opening (206) maybe present on the second side panel (204), instead of or in addition to the first opening (206), and such third opening may have a construction and function similar to the first opening (206), without deviating from the spirit of the present disclosure. Further, in such an embodiment the vehicle identification information (150) may be inscribed on a first face (not shown) of the second mounting member (148).
[00037] Referring to Figures 5, 6 and 7, the system (250) comprises a second opening (208) provided on the bottom panel (200). In an embodiment, the second opening (208) is defined as an elongated slit, having a length of about 210 mm. In alternative embodiments, the second opening (208) has a length of more than 210 mm or less than 210 mm, without any limitations. The second opening (208) is provided at an offset from the first opening (206). In particular, when the bottom panel (200) is connected to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100), the second opening (208) is positioned below the portion of the body frame (130) having the vehicle identification information (150), inscribed thereon. Further, when the bottom panel (200) is connected to the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100).
[00038] Further, the system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (150) further comprises an impression creating member (252). The impression creating member (252) has an elongated profile. In an embodiment, the impression creating member (252) has an elongated cylindrical profile. In alternative embodiments, the impression creating member (252) has an elongated cuboidal shape. In an example, the impression creating member (252) is a pencil. In other examples the impression creating member (252) may include a pen, marker, etc.
[00039] The impression creating member (252) has predetermined dimensions. In particular, the impression creating member (252) has a predetermined length and width. The predetermined width of the impression creating member (252) is less than the predetermined width of the first opening (206). Owing to such difference between the width of the impression creating member (252) with the width of the first opening (206), the impression creating member (252) can be easily inserted in and laterally moved within the first opening (206). In an embodiment, where the impression creating member (252) has a cylindrical profile, the impression creating member (252) has a predetermined diameter and a predetermined length.
[00040] The system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (150) further comprises an impressionable sheet material (254). The impressionable sheet material (254) has a thin elongated profile. In an embodiment, the impressionable sheet material (254) has a thin rectangular profile. In alternative embodiments, the impressionable sheet material (254) has a thin square shape. In an example, the impressionable sheet material (254) is a page of paper. In other examples the impressionable sheet material (254) may include a carbon paper, or any other sheet material on which visual impressions may be made by the impression creating member (252).
[00041] The impressionable sheet material (254) has predetermined dimensions. In particular, the impressionable sheet material (254) has a predetermined length and width. The predetermined length of the impressionable sheet material (254) is less than the predetermined length of the second opening (208) on the bottom panel (200). Owing to such difference between the length of the impressionable sheet material (254) with the length of the second opening (208), the impressionable sheet material (254) can be easily inserted in the second opening (208). The impressionable sheet material inserted through the second opening (208) aligns with the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed on the frame structure (130). In an embodiment, where the impressionable sheet material (254) has dimensions of an A4 sheet i.e., 210 x 297 millimeters.
[00042] The system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (250) further comprises a set of guides (256, 258). Each guide i.e. first guide (256) and second guide (258) of the set of guides act as impressionable sheet material guides. In one example, the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258), are disposed on the body frame (130) of the vehicle (100). In particular, the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258), are disposed on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130). In an embodiment, the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258), are disposed on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130) adjacent to the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed thereon. In another example, the impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) are disposed on the first side panel
(202) (second panel (202)).
[00043] As shown in Figure 3, the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) are separated from each other by a predetermined distance. In an embodiment, the predetermined distance separating the first guide (256) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) from the second guide (258) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) is equal to the length of the second opening (208) on the bottom panel (200). In an embodiment, the predetermined distance separating the first guide (256) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) from the second guide (258) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) is equal to or greater than the length of the second opening (208) on the bottom panel (200).
[00044] Further, the predetermined distance separating the first guide (256) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) from the second guide (258) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) is equal to the length through which the vehicle identification information ( 150) extends on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130). In an embodiment, the predetermined distance separating the first guide (256) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) from the second guide (258) of the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) is equal to or greater than the length through which the vehicle identification information ( 150) extends on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130).
[00045] Referring now to Figure 8, a method (300) for impressioning a vehicle identification information (150) of a vehicle, such as the vehicle (100), is disclosed. The method (300) at step (302) comprises inserting an impressionable sheet material (254) through a second opening (208) defined on a first panel (200), such as the bottom panel (200). This aligns the impressionable sheet material (254) with vehicle identification information (150) of the vehicle (100) inscribed on a frame structure (130), such as the body frame (130). [00046] The method (300) at step (304) comprises, inserting an impression creating member, such as the impression creating member (252) through a first opening, such as the first opening (206) defined on a second panel (202), such as the first side panel (202). The insertion of the impression creating member (252) through the first opening (206) defined on the first side panel (202) causes the impression creating member (252) to contact the impressionable sheet material (254).
[00047] The method (300) at step 306 comprises moving the impression creating member (252) within the first opening (206) while being in contact with the impressionable sheet material (254) to create an impression of the identification information of the vehicle (100) on the impressionable sheet material (254).
[00048] During utilizing the system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (150), i.e., when it is desired to obtain identification information (150), like VIN, pertaining to the vehicle (100), the impressionable sheet material (254), like a sheet of paper, is inserted in the second opening (208) defined on the bottom panel (200). The length of the second opening (208) corresponds to the width of the impressionable sheet material (254) and therefore of the insertion of the impressionable sheet material (254) is quick and easy. Further, as the impressionable sheet material (254) is inserted in the second opening (208), the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258), guide the impressionable sheet material (254). The set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) therefore disallow the impressionable sheet material (254) to get folded or crumpled during insertion in the second opening (208). The impressionable sheet material (254) upon being inserted in the second opening (208), gets aligned with the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed on the on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130). In particular, upon being inserted in the second opening (208), a portion of the impressionable sheet material (254), gets aligned with the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed on the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130). The set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) facilitate such alignment of the impressionable sheet material (254) with respect to the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130).
[00049] Subsequently, the impression creating member (252), for example a pencil, is inserted in the first opening (206) of the side panel (202). The dimensions of the first opening (206) of the side panel (202) correspond to the outer diameter of the impression creating member (252) and therefore, insertion of the impression creating member (252) in the first opening (206) is quick and easy. The insertion of the impression creating member (252) in the first opening (206) is performed up to an extent when the impression creating member (252) comes in contact with the impressionable sheet material (254). Owing to the position of the first opening (206) of the side panel (202) with respect to the body frame (130), and position of the inserted the impressionable sheet material (254), the impression creating member (252) comes in contact with the impressionable sheet material (254), over the to the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed on the body frame (130).
[00050] Thereafter, with the impression creating member (252) in contact with the impressionable sheet material (254) with a predetermined pressure, the impression creating member (252) is moved laterally within the first opening (206). Owing to such pressurized contact and movement of the impression creating member (252) over the impressionable sheet material (254), an impression of the vehicle identification information (150) inscribed on the body frame (130) is created over the impressionable sheet material (254). Subsequently, the impressionable sheet material (254) may be removed from the second opening (208), and the vehicle identification information ( 150) can be accessed.
[00051] In light of the foregoing, the present invention discloses the system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (150) which is quick and easy. By providing separate openings, namely the first opening (206), and the second opening (208) for the impressionable sheet material (254) and the impression creating member (252), difficulties associated with inserting both the impressionable sheet material (254) and the impression creating member (252) in one opening have been eliminated, by the system (250) for determining vehicle identification information (150). Further, by providing separate openings for the impressionable sheet material (254) and the impression creating member (252), chances of impressionable sheet material (254) getting damaged by the impression creating member (252) have been substantially reduced, by the system for determining vehicle identification information (250). Furthermore, the system for determining vehicle identification information (250) also eliminates a need of having a separate stay, or member bearing the VIN, extending from the body frame ( 130) towards the side panels, because the set of impressionable sheet material guides (256, 258) appropriately align the impressionable sheet material (254) with the first face (152) of the first mounting member (146) of the body frame (130) wherein the vehicle identification information ( 150) is inscribed.
[00052] While few embodiments of the present invention have been described above, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the above embodiments and modifications may be appropriately made thereto within the spirit and scope of the invention.
[00053] While considerable emphasis has been placed herein on the particular features of this invention, it will be appreciated that various modifications can be made, and that many changes can be made in the preferred embodiments without departing from the principles of the invention. These and other modifications in the nature of the invention or the preferred embodiments will be apparent to those skilled in the art from the disclosure herein, whereby it is to be distinctly understood that the foregoing descriptive matter is to be interpreted merely as illustrative of the invention and not as a limitation.
