Abstract

超伝導転移端センサ(以後、TESと呼ぶ)に流れる電流、又は信号パルスの波高値を補正すること無く、長期に安定して、高いエネルギー分解能で分析可能な放射線分析装置の提供を図る。放射線を検出するTES1と、TES1に流れる電流を検出する電流検出機構4と、電流検出機構4で検出した電流に基づき波高値を測定する波高分析器5と、TES1に流れるベースライン電流を検出するベースラインモニタ機構6と、TES1を冷却するコールドヘッドに設置された第一の温度計12の温度の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第一のヒータ13と、TES1の極近距離に設置され、ベースライン電流の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第二のヒータ14とを備える。

Description

放射線分析装置
 本発明は、超伝導転移端センサからなる放射線検出器を備えた放射線分析装置に関する。
 放射線のエネルギーを弁別可能な放射線分析装置として、エネルギー分散型X線検出器(Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy、以後EDSと呼ぶ)や波長分散型X線検出器(Wavelength Dispersive Spectroscopy、以後WDSと呼ぶ)がある。EDSは検出器に取り込まれたX線のエネルギーを検出器内で電気信号に変換し、その電気信号の大きさによってエネルギーを算出するタイプのX線検出器である。また、WDSはX線を分光器で単色化し、単色化されたX線を比例計数管等で検出するタイプのX線検出器である。
 EDSとしては、シリコンリチウム型検出器、シリコンドリフト型検出器、またはゲルマニウム検出器などの半導体検出器が知られている。例えば、シリコンリチウム型、またはシリコンドリフト型の検出器は、電子顕微鏡の元素分析装置に用いられ、0.1 keV ~ 20 keV程度の範囲のエネルギーを検出できる。しかし、検出器にシリコンを使用しているため、その性能はシリコンのバンドギャップ(1.1 eV程度)に依存し、エネルギー分解能を120 eV程度以下に改善することが難しく、WDSと比較して10倍以上エネルギー分解能が劣る。
 X線検出器の性能を示す指標の一つであるエネルギー分解能が、例えば、120 eVであるとは、X線検出器にX線が照射されると、120 eVの不確かさでエネルギーを検出できることを意味する。この不確かさが小さいほど、エネルギー分解能が高いということになる。エネルギー差が20 eV程度の隣接する二本のスペクトルからなるX線を検出する場合、エネルギー分解能が20 eV ~ 30 eV程度であれば二本のピークを分離できる。
 近年、エネルギー分散型でかつWDSと同等のエネルギー分解能を有する超伝導X線検出器が注目されている。この超伝導X線検出器のうちで超伝導転移端センサ(Transition Edge Sensor、以後TESと呼ぶ)からなる検出器は、金属薄膜の超伝導 - 常伝導間の急激な抵抗値の変化(例えば、数mKの温度変化での抵抗値変化が100 mΩ)を用いた高感度の熱量計である。TESは、マイクロカロリメータとも呼ばれる。
 TESは、一次X線や一次電子線などの放射線照射によってサンプルから発生した蛍光X線や特性X線が、TES内に入射した際に起こるTESの温度変化を検出することでサンプルを分析する。TESは、半導体検出器よりも高いエネルギー分解能を有しており、例えば、5.9 keVのX線に対して10 eV以下のエネルギー分解能が得られる。
 電子顕微鏡にTESを取り付けた場合、電子線が照射されたサンプルから発生するX線をTESで取得することで、半導体検出器では分離不可能な特性X線(例えば、Si-Kα、W-Mα、W-Mβなど)のピークを容易に分離できる。TESを備えたX線分析装置では、TESの極微小な電流変化を読み出すために、超伝導量子干渉素子型(Superconducting QUantum Interference Device、以後SQUIDと呼ぶ)アンプが用いられる。
 TESで高エネルギー分解能を実現させるためには、TESに流れるベースライン電流を一定にすることが重要である。TESに流れるベースライン電流を一定にする装置として、例えば、TESに流れるベースライン電流が既定値からずれて変動している場合に、その変動幅に応じて、TESに流れる電流、または、TESの信号パルスの波高値を補正するX線分析装置が知られている(特許文献1参照)。また、TESが設置されるコールドヘッドに組み込まれたヒータの出力とTESに流れるベースライン電流とが相関を有することに基づき、TESの信号パルスの波高値を補正する放射線分析装置が知られている(特許文献2参照)。この放射線分析装置は、予めヒータの出力とTESの感度との相関特性を取得しておき、実際の測定時にTESの信号パルスを取得する際のヒータの出力に対応するTESの感度を用いてTESの信号パルスの波高値を補正する。

 しかしながら、上記のX線分析装置、及び放射線分析装置では、測定結果を得るまでの工程が複雑になるという問題があった。また、補正に使用する検出データの誤差による補正精度の低下や、生のデータに補正を加えることによるデータの信頼性の低下の問題もあった。
 本発明は、上述の課題に鑑み、TESに流れる電流、またはTESの信号パルスの波高値を補正する必要が無く、長期に安定して、高いエネルギー分解能が得られる放射線分析装置を提供することを目的とする。
 本発明は、上記の目的を達成するため、放射線を検出するTESと、TESに流れる電流を検出する電流検出機構と、電流検出機構で検出した電流に基づき波高値を測定する波高分析器と、TESに流れるベースライン電流を検出するベースラインモニタ機構と、TESを冷却するコールドヘッドと、コールドヘッドの温度の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第一のヒータと、ベースライン電流の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第二のヒータと、を備える構成の放射線分析装置を提供する。
 本発明の放射線分析装置によれば、TESに流れる電流、またはTESの信号パルスの波高値を補正する必要が無く、データの信頼性が高い直接的な手法で、長期に安定して高いエネルギー分解能が得られる。

 以下、本発明の種々の実施形態を図面に従い説明するが、それに先立ち概説する。上述のとおり、本放射線分析装置は、TESに流れるベースライン電流を検出するベースラインモニタ機構で検出したベースライン電流の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第二のヒータを備え、ベースラインモニタ機構で検出したベースライン電流が既定値からずれて変動している場合、その変動を抑制するように第二のヒータの出力を調整する。これにより、TESに流れるベースライン電流は一定となり、同じエネルギーの放射線に対して常に一定の信号パルスの波高値を得ることができるため、長期に安定して高いエネルギー分解能が得られる。
 また、本放射線分析装置は、好適にはベースラインモニタ機構で検出したベースライン電流と、第二のヒータの出力を調整するためのGUI画面を備えている。このGUI画面により、ベースライン電流が安定している様子を確認できるため、システムの利便性が高くなる。
 更に、本放射線分析装置は、放射線を検出するTESとは別にベースラインモニタ用のTESを設ける構成とすることができる。このベースラインモニタ用のTESには、放射線を遮蔽するための遮蔽体が設けられている。すなわち、放射線による影響の無い、ベースラインモニタに特化したTESを設けることで、高精度なベースライン電流のコントロールが可能になる。
 また更に、放射線分析装置は、好適には第二のヒータが放射線を検出するTESと同じチップ上に設置されている。これにより、より効率的に応答性よく、第二のヒータ出力によるベースライン電流のコントロールが可能になる。
 実施例1は、放射線を検出するTESと、TESに流れる電流を検出する電流検出機構と、電流検出機構で検出した電流に基づき波高値を測定する波高分析器と、TESに流れるベースライン電流を検出するベースラインモニタ機構と、TESを冷却するコールドヘッドと、コールドヘッドの温度の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第一のヒータと、ベースライン電流の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第二のヒータと、を備える構成の放射線分析装置の実施例である。
 図1は、本実施例に係る放射線分析装置の構成を模式的に示す図、図2は本実施例に係る放射線分析装置のTESの構成を模式的に示す図、図3に本実施例に係る放射線分析装置の一部の構成を模式的に示す図である。
 本実施例の放射線分析装置100は、例えば、電子顕微鏡、イオン顕微鏡、X線顕微鏡、蛍光X線分析装置などの組成分析装置として利用可能な装置である。放射線分析装置100は、図1に示すように、TES1と、センサ回路部2と、バイアス電流源3と、電流検出機構4と、波高分析器5と、ベースラインモニタ機構6と、スペクトル表示部7と、第一の温度計12、第一のヒータ13、第二のヒータ14、ベースラインコントロール部15を備えている。第一の温度計12と第一のヒータ13は、後で説明するコールドヘッドの内部に設置され、第二のヒータはTES1から略1cm以内の極近の位置に設置する。なお、一点鎖線で囲った領域は冷凍機25を模式的に示し、冷凍機内部に設置される要素を明確化している。
 TES1は、放射線を受けるとそのエネルギーを温度変化として検出し、この温度変化を電流信号として出力する。センサ回路部2は、TES1に接続されている。バイアス電流源3は、センサ回路部2を擬似的に定電圧駆動させるための電流をセンサ回路部2に流す。電流検出機構4は、TES1に流れる電流を検出する。波高分析器5は、電流検出機構4により検出されたTESの信号パルスの波高値を測定する。スペクトル表示部7は、測定されたパルス波高値を用いて、エネルギースペクトルを表示する。
 センサ回路部2は、TES1と並列に接続されたTES1よりも小さい抵抗値であるシャント抵抗8と、TES1に直列に接続されたインプットコイル9と、を備えている。センサ回路部2では、バイアス電流源3からバイアス電流が流されると、シャント抵抗8の抵抗値とTES1の抵抗値との抵抗比で電流が分岐される。つまり、シャント抵抗8に流れる電流とシャント抵抗8の抵抗値で決まる電圧値により、TES1の電圧値が決定される。
 電流検出機構4は、SQUIDアンプ10と、SQUIDアンプ10から出力された電気信号を増幅・整形処理するための室温アンプ11と、を備えている。電流検出機構4として、インプットコイル9を利用したSQUIDアンプ10と室温アンプ11を用いているが、TES1に流れる電流の変化を検出可能であれば、他の構成を採用しても構わない。
 図2に示すように、TES1は、吸収体21と、第二の温度計22と、メンブレン23とを備える。また、図3に示すように、TES1、シャント抵抗8、及びSQUIDアンプ10は、冷凍機により50 mK ~ 400 mKまで冷却されるコールドヘッド19の先端に設けられている。TES1、及びSQUIDアンプ10は、超伝導配線16で接続されている。SQUIDアンプ10、TES1や第二のヒータ14が配置されるTESチップ17、及びコールドヘッド19等は熱シールド20で取り囲まれている。なお、図3において、シャント抵抗8は図示が省略されている。
 本実施例に係るTES1の動作原理について説明する。TES1は、超伝導体が有する超伝導転移を利用するものであり、放射線の検出動作では、常伝導と超伝導の中間状態に動作点を保持する。これにより、放射線1個がTES1に吸収された場合、超伝導転移中に動作点を保持された状態において、例えば、100 μKの温度変動に対して数mΩの抵抗値変化を得られ、μAオーダーの信号パルスが得られる。また、予めパルス波高値と放射線のエネルギーとの関係を求めたデータを記憶しておくことにより、未知のエネルギーを有する放射線がTES1に照射された場合に、パルス波高値から入射した放射線のエネルギーを検出できる。
 TES1を超伝導転移中の動作点に保持させる際に、TES1の動作点は、TES1に流れる電流(以降、TES電流Itと呼ぶ)とコールドヘッドへの熱リンクとの熱バランスにより決定される。TES1のエネルギー分解能は、温度の関数であるため、可能な限り温度を低くした方が良い。コールドヘッド温度は、例えば、50 mK ~ 400 mK程度にしておく。TES電流Itは、以下の数式(1)で決定される。

 上記数式(1)において、TES電流Itは、TES1の動作抵抗Rt、TES1に設けられた第二の温度計22とコールドヘッド19を熱的に接続させるための熱リンクの熱伝導度G、第二の温度計22の温度T、及びコールドヘッド19の温度Tbにより記述されている。ここで、ベースライン電流とはTES1に放射線が照射されていない状態におけるTES電流を意味する。
 更に、TES電流Itとパルス波高値ΔIとの関係は、以下の数式(2)で与えられる。理想的には、TES電流Itが一定であれば、常に一定のパルス波高値ΔIが得られる。

 上記数式(2)において、TES電流It、及びパルス波高値ΔIは、TES1の感度α、熱容量C、照射される放射線のエネルギーE、及び第二の温度計22の温度Tにより記述されている。この数式(2)から分かるように、TES1に流れるベースライン電流が変化すると、同じエネルギーの放射線がTES1に照射されても信号パルスの波高値が異なる。また、数式(1)から分かるように、コールドヘッド19の温度が変化するとベースライン電流が変化する。つまり、コールドヘッド19の温度が変動するとパルス波高値ΔIが変動するため、エネルギー分解能が劣化する。
 TES1に放射線が照射された際のTES1の温度変化に伴う信号パルスの波高値は、上記数式(2)に従って、SQUIDアンプ10に流れる電流(TES電流Itと等しい)の増加に伴い、増加傾向に変化する。パルス波高値ΔIの一例としては、信号パルスをフィルターとコンボリューションさせた計算値がスペクトル表示部7に出力される。
 この際、スペクトル表示部7におけるスペクトル表示画面は、横軸をパルス波高値ΔI、縦軸をカウントとして表示される。例えば、パルス波高値ΔIが100のとき、100の箇所に1個カウントされる。これを繰り返して、放射線スペクトルが形成される。
 同じエネルギーの放射線が照射されたにも関わらず、フィルター後の計算値が変化することは、パルス波高値ΔIがばらつくことを意味する。このばらつき度合いが上述したエネルギー分解能に相当する。つまり、高いエネルギー分解能を実現させるためには、同じエネルギーの放射線に対して、パルス波高値ΔIのばらつきが小さくなるようにする必要がある。
 パルス波高値ΔIのばらつきの一要因は、SQUIDアンプ10に流れる電流の変化である。そのため、高いエネルギー分解能を実現させるためには、SQUIDアンプ10に流れる電流を一定にする手段が重要である。
 以下、本実施例の放射線分析装置100の動作の詳細について説明する。図1に示した波高分析器5は、室温アンプ11から送られてきたTESの信号パルスから、信号パルスの波高値を取得してエネルギースペクトルを生成する、マルチチャンネルパルスハイトアナライザーである。この波高分析器5は、信号パルスの波高値を読み取り、縦軸をカウント、横軸を波高値としたヒストグラムにおいて、その波高値の箇所にカウントを1追加する。波高分析器5は、複数の放射線の信号パルスに対して同じ作業を繰り返すことにより、ヒストグラムを作成してスペクトル表示部7に表示する機能を有している。また、予め信号パルスの波高値をエネルギーに換算するためのデータが波高分析器5、またはスペクトル表示部7に組み込まれていれば、縦軸をカウント、横軸をエネルギーとしたスペクトルを表示できる。
 図3に示したように、コールドヘッド19の内部には、コールドヘッド19の温度をモニタする第一の温度計12が設けられている。第一の温度計12には、半導体、超伝導体、または金属酸化物が用いられる。例えば、第一の温度計12には、酸化ルテニウムやゲルマニウムが用いられる。第一の温度計12は、コールドヘッド19の温度と共に抵抗値が変化するため、予め温度と第一の温度計12から出力される電気信号を相関付けることにより、コールドヘッド19の温度状態を把握できる。
 スペクトル表示部7は、表示器、演算回路、及びメモリを備えている。スペクトル表示部7の表示器、演算回路、及びメモリは、例えばパーソナルコンピュータ(PC)の表示部、中央処理部(CPU)のプログラム処理や、専用のハードウェアで構成し、信号パルスの波高値を波高分析器5から受け取り、TES1により検出された放射線のエネルギースペクトルを表示することができる。
 TES1は、図2に示したように、吸収体21と、第二の温度計22と、メンブレン23とを備え、吸収体21は、X線等の放射線を吸収するための金属、半金属、超伝導体などである。吸収体21は、例えば、金、銅、ビスマスなどにより形成されている。第二の温度計22は、超伝導体からなり、吸収体21で発生した熱を温度変化として検知する。第二の温度計22は、例えば、チタンと金の2層からなる材料により形成されている。メンブレン23は、第二の温度計22とコールドヘッド19の間を熱的に緩く接続し、コールドヘッド19へと流れる熱の流量を制御する。メンブレン23は、例えば、窒化シリコンにより形成されている。
 TES1の抵抗値を常伝導と超伝導の中間状態に保持する際に、第二の温度計22で発生するジュール熱は、メンブレン23を通して第二の温度計22または吸収体21からコールドヘッド19に流れる熱流と熱的にバランスされる。ジュール熱とメンブレン23を伝わる熱流の熱的なバランスは、上記数式(1)で与えられる。上記数式(1)において、TES電流Itが、TES1外部からの熱変動Pexに影響されることを考慮すると、上記数式(1)は、数式(3)で書き換えられる。

 TES1外部からの熱変動Pexが増加すると、上記数式(3)を満足するように、左辺第二項のδItが減少する。なお、外部からの熱変動Pexの例としては、TES1を冷却するコールドヘッド19の温度変動、コールドヘッド19を取り囲む熱シールド20の温度変動による熱輻射の変動、または冷凍機内に存在する残留ガスによる熱シールド20からTES1への熱伝導などがある。
 パルス波高値ΔIは、上記数式(2)の通り、TES1に流れる電流であるベースライン電流が増加したとき、単調に増加する。すなわち、同じエネルギーの放射線に対するパルス波高値ΔIを一定にするためには、ベースライン電流を一定にすることが重要である。
 TES1は、100 mK近傍まで冷却される必要がある。冷却手段としては、希釈冷凍機や断熱消磁冷凍機(Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigerator、以後ADRと呼ぶ)がある。前者は、ミキシングチャンバー内において、濃厚相から希薄相へ3Heが溶け込むときのエンタルピー差を利用して冷却する技術である。後者は、磁性体に磁場を印加することでスピンの向きを揃えておき、磁場を除去する際にエントロピーが増大することを利用して、磁性体に接続された物体を冷却する技術である。両者共に最も冷却される箇所にコールドヘッド19が設置される。希釈冷凍機、及びADRには、温度を測定するための第一の温度計12がコールドヘッド19に設置され、第一の温度計12から出力される電気信号をモニタすることで、コールドヘッド19の温度情報が得られる。予め電気信号と温度の関係を温度コントロール部18に登録することで、リアルタイムに温度を把握できる。なお、この温度コントロール部18も上述のPCなどで実現する。そのため、本明細書において、ベースラインコントロール部15、温度コントロール部18を総称して制御部と呼ぶ場合があり、この制御部は第一のヒータの出力と、第二のヒータの出力を制御することができる。
 希釈冷凍機においてコールドヘッド19の温度の安定化を図る場合、図3に示すようにコールドヘッド19の内部に第一のヒータ13が設置される。第一のヒータ13は、温度コントロール部18に接続される。温度コントロール部18に目的とする温度が設定されると、第一の温度計12の温度を元に、第一のヒータ13の出力を温度コントロール部18が制御する。ADRの場合は、第一の温度計12の温度を元に、磁性体に印加された磁場強度を制御することで、コールドヘッド19の温度を一定に保つ。以下は、希釈冷凍機の場合に関して説明するが、ADRに対しても同様の手法が適用可能である。
 数式(1)、数式(2)から分かるように、コールドヘッド19の温度が下がるとパルス波高値ΔIは増加し、逆にコールドヘッド19の温度が上がるとパルス波高値ΔIは減少する。コールドヘッド19の温度は、第一の温度計12でモニタされる。温度コントロール部18は、第一の温度計12の温度が一定になるように第一のヒータ13の出力を調整し、コールドヘッド19の温度を一定に保持する。
 ベースラインモニタ機構6は、TES1に流れる電流であるベースライン電流の変化を監視している。ベースライン電流は、安定時に定常的にTES1に流れる電流であるため、統計的な揺らぎを持っている。そのため、例えば1000個程度のサンプリングデータを平均化し、平均化された値をモニタすることが好ましい。例えば、室温アンプ11の出力である電流値を1MS/秒のアナログデジタル変換器(ADC)でモニタし、サンプリング間隔1μ secの多数のデータを得て、それらを平均化する。ベースラインモニタ機構6のサンプリングデータの処理は、上述したPC等で実現することができる。なお、このベースラインモニタ機構6の詳細な機能説明については、実施例の説明の最後で行うこととする。
 先に述べたように、TES1外部からの熱変動等によってベースライン電流が変動すると、パルス波高値ΔIが変動する。そのため、パルス波高値ΔIを一定にするためには、ベースライン電流を一定にする必要がある。ベースライン電流の安定化を図るため、第二のヒータ14とベースラインコントロール部15が設置される。第二のヒータ14は、ベースラインコントロール部15に接続される。ベースラインコントロール部15の、ベースライン電流と第二のヒータの出力を調整するためのGUI画面に目的とするベースライン電流が設定されると、ベースラインモニタ機構6から入力されるベースライン電流に基づき、ベースラインコントロール部15が第二のヒータ14の出力を制御する。
 図3においては、温度コントロール部18及びベースラインコントロール部15を別々の機能ブロックとして示したが、上述した制御部として機能するPCのプログラム処理として実現し、その表示部を用いて上述のGUI画面を表示することができる。また、このGUI画面を表示する表示部と、ヒストグラムを表示するスペクトル表示部7を兼用することも可能である。
 図4に一例を示すように、ベースライン電流と第二のヒータを制御するためのベースラインコントロール部15のGUI画面は、例えば、ベースライン電流設定値、PID制御(Proportional Integral Differential Controller)のPID値の3つの要素、及び第二のヒータのONを設定するためのベースライン電流制御画面24を表示する。更にベースライン電流制御画面24に、得られたベースライン電流と第二のヒータの出力の時間変化のグラフを表示する。
 第一のヒータ13のコントロールと第二のヒータ14のコントロールが干渉することを防ぐため、第二のヒータ14はTES1の極近距離、略1cm以内に設置し、第一のヒータ13の出力と比べて十分に小さな出力でベースライン電流を制御する。上述したように、第二のヒータ14をTES1の極近の位置に配置するため、TES1が実装されるTESチップ17上に第二のヒータ14を設置することが好ましい。
 また、本実施例の放射線分析装置において、好適には第二のヒータが非磁性体であることが望ましい。これにより、磁場による超伝導転移端センサの感度への影響を防ぐことができる。例えば、第二のヒータ14は、金等の非磁性体を用いると良い。更に、本実施例の放射線分析装置は、第二のヒータがミアンダ構造、もしくは折り返し配線構造であることが望ましく、これにより、磁場による超伝導転移端センサの感度への影響を防ぐことができる。
 また更に、本実施例の放射線分析装置は、コールドヘッド温度の変動幅が0.1 mK以下であり、かつ、ベースライン電流の変動幅が0.1 μA以下であることが望ましい。これにより、測定される放射線エネルギーの変動幅を、エネルギースペクトルのビン幅として用いる1 eV以下にすることができる。すなわち、本実施例の放射線分析装置100では、常にコールドヘッド温度、及びベースライン電流を検出し、これらが既定値からずれて変動しないようにコントロールしており、コールドヘッド温度の変動幅は0.1 mK以下になり、TES1に流れるベースライン電流の変動幅は0.1 μA以下になる。その結果、測定される放射線エネルギーの変動幅を、エネルギースペクトルのビン幅として用いる1 eV以下にすることができ、長期に安定して高いエネルギー分解能を得ることが可能になる。
 図5のフローチャートを用いて、例えば、制御部であるPC等による測定準備の流れを説明する。冷凍機が十分冷却されたことが確認された後、制御部の温度コントローラ部18で基準となる温度を設定すると、第一の温度計12で取得される温度に基づき、第一のヒータ13の出力が調整され、コールドヘッド19の温度は基準値に到達し、その後基準値を中心に変動する(S1)。
 温度の変動幅が0.1 mKより小さくなった後(S2)、制御部のベースラインコントロール部15で基準となるベースライン電流を設定すると、ベースラインモニタ機構6で取得されるベースライン電流に基づき、第二のヒータ14の出力が調整され、ベースライン電流は基準値に到達し、その後基準値を中心に変動する(S3)。ベースライン電流の変動幅が0.1 μAより小さくなったときに測定準備は完了し、長期に安定して、高いエネルギー分解能での分析が可能になる。
 すなわち、制御部は、第一のヒータの出力を制御し、温度変動幅を0.1mK以下にし、第二のヒータの出力を制御し、ベースライン電流変動幅を0.1μA以下にする。また、制御部は、コールドヘッドの第一のヒータを制御し、温度変動幅が0.1mK以下になったら、ベースライン電流に基づき、第二のヒータの出力を制御し、ベースライン電流変動幅を0.1μA以下にする。
 以上説明した実施例1の放射線分析装置によれば、TESに流れる電流、または、TESの信号パルスの波高値を補正する必要が無く、データの信頼性が高い直接的な測定手法で、長期に安定して高いエネルギー分解能が得られる。
 実施例2は、放射線分析装置に複数のTESを設け、その1個をベースラインモニタ用のTESとして利用する構成の実施例である。すなわち、放射線分析装置100に複数のTESを設けることが可能な場合には、放射線を検出するTES1とは別に、少なくとも1個のベースラインモニタ用のTESを設け、ベースラインモニタ用のTESにX線などの放射線を遮蔽するための遮蔽体を設けることにより、放射線の入射によるベースライン電流の変化を防ぐことができ、より高精度なベースライン電流のコントロールが可能になる。
 すなわち、実施例2のTESチップには複数のTESが設置され、少なくとも一個のTESは、ベースライン電流をモニタするベースラインモニタ用TESであり、ベースラインモニタ用TESは、電流検出機構を介して、ベースラインモニタ機構に接続される。またベースラインモニタ用TES以外の放射線を検出する複数のTESはそれぞれの電流検出機構、波高分析器を介して、スペクトル表示部に接続され、スペクトル表示部は、放射線を検出する複数のTESの波高分析器の分析データを加算したスペクトルをスペクトル表示部に表示する。
 図6に実施例2の放射線分析装置のTESチップの一構成例を示した。図6に示すように、TESチップ30上に4個の放射線を検出するTES1が設置され、それらに近接してベースラインモニタ用TES31と、第二のヒータ14が設置されている。TESの下部のTESチップ30の裏面には次に説明するようにメンブレンを構成するための空洞32が設置される。
 図7は図6のTESチップ30のAA’断面を示す断面図である。同図に示すように、TESチップ30上に、複数のTES1を構成する吸収体21が第二の温度計22の上に配置される。なお、図2に示したTES模式図においては、吸収体21の上に第二の温度計22を配置しているが、実際には第二の温度計22の上に吸収体21が配置される。TES1の下部のTESチップ30の裏面には、メンブレン23を構成するための空洞32が形成される。例えば、TESチップの大きさは6×6mmであり、吸収体21、第二の温度計22は0.4×0.4mm、メンブレン23形成用の空洞32は0.6×0.6mmである。
 図8に図6のTESチップ30の上面にコリメータを設置した一構成例の図6のAA’に対応する断面図を示した。コリメータ33はTESチップ30を覆ってTESチップ30に接着される。コリメータ33にはTESチップ30上の4個のTES1に対応する部分に4つの穴34が形成されている。ベースラインモニタ用TES31上には穴が形成されておらず、ベースラインモニタ用TES31は放射線が当たらない遮蔽体付きの構成となっている。
 なお、実施例2の構成のTESチップを用いる放射線分析装置にあっては、複数のTES1はそれぞれ対応する電流検出機構4と波高分析器5に接続され、複数のTES1の出力が加算されて、スペクトル表示部7に表示される。一方、ベースラインモニタ用TES31は、対応する電流検出機構4を介してベースラインモニタ機構6に接続され、ベースラインモニタ用TES31のベースライン電流に基づき、第二のヒータ14の出力が制御される。
 以上説明した実施例2の放射線分析装置によれば、データの信頼性が高い直接的な測定手法で、長期により安定して高いエネルギー分解能が得られる。
 続いて、各実施例で使用されるベースラインモニタ機構の機能説明を行う。ベースライン電流とは、安定的に定常的にTESに流れる電流であるため、ベースラインモニタ機構6においては、まずTES1にX線が入射した際のパルス等を検出し、検出したパルス等を除去する必要がある。パルス等を検出する方法としては、閾値を設けて、閾値を超えた信号を検出する方法が一般的であるが、ベースライン電流自体が変動する際には使用できない場合がある。そこで、取得した信号の1階微分値を用いることで、現在のベースライン電流に関わらないパルス等の検出を可能とする。1階微分値は、ベースライン領域においては値がほとんど0になるためである。また、このように閾値を設けてパルス等を検出した場合には、検出点の前後にパルスの影響が残る領域が存在するため、その前後で100~1000程度の適切なサンプリング点数の信号を除去する必要がある。また、上述したように、ベースライン電流は統計的な揺らぎを持っているため、複数点のデータを平均化した値をベースライン電流として使用する必要がある。
 図9にベースラインモニタ機構6の機能説明用のフローチャート、図10にベースライン電流値の一例を示す。図10において、横軸はサンプリング点を、縦軸はベースライン電流値を示している。上述のように、ベースラインモニタ機構6では、例えば1000個程度のサンプリングデータを平均化し、平均化された値をモニタすることが好ましい。そこでまず例えば1μsec毎に1点データ、計1100点の電流値サンプリングデータを取得して保持する(S91)。その後、次の電流値サンプリングデータを1点取得したら(S92)、最新2点の差分が閾値を超えているかどうかを判定する(S93)。この差分処理は上述した1階微分値の近似である。
 差分値が閾値を超えていない場合(No)、1100点前から100点前まで、合計1001点の電流値の平均値をベースライン電流値とし、図1のベースラインコントロール部15に送る。ベースラインコントロール部15は、このベースライン電流値に基づき第二のヒータ14を制御する(S94)。
 差分値が閾値を超えている場合(図10の1137点目でYes)、新たに900点電流値を取得する(S95)。その間のベースライン電流値は、超える直前のサンプリングデータ取得時のベースライン電流値のまま変化しない。900点電流値を取得した時点で、最新1001点の電流値を消去する(1037点目から2037点目までを消去、S96)。その後、順次取得する電流値の数が1100点以上あるかどうか判定し(S97)。1100点ある場合(図10の2102点目でYes)、S92、S93・・・のフローに戻る。本例においては、2102点目取得時のベースライン電流値は、1点目から1001点目までの平均値をとって、15.014となる。
 なお、本発明の技術的範囲は、上述した実施形態に限定されるものではなく、本発明の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲において、上述した実施形態に種々の変更を加えたものを含む。すなわち、上述した実施形態の構成はほんの一例に過ぎず、適宜変更が可能である。また、上述した実施形態は本発明のより良い理解のために詳細に説明したのであり、必ずしも説明の全ての構成を備えるものに限定されるものではない。
 更に、上述した各構成、機能、コントロール部等は、それらの一部又は全部を実現するプログラムを作成する例を中心に説明したが、それらの一部又は全部を例えば集積回路で設計する等によりハードウェアで実現しても良いことは言うまでもない。すなわち、コントロール部の全部または一部の機能は、プログラムに代え、例えば、ASIC(Application Specific Integrated Circuit)、FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)などの集積回路などにより実現してもよい。

Claims (14)

  1. 放射線を検出する超伝導転移端センサ(以後、TESと呼ぶ)と、
    前記TESに流れる電流を検出する電流検出機構と、
    前記電流検出機構で検出した電流に基づき波高値を測定する波高分析器と、
    前記TESに流れるベースライン電流を検出するベースラインモニタ機構と、
    前記TESを冷却するコールドヘッドと、
    前記コールドヘッドの温度の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第一のヒータと、
    前記ベースライン電流の安定化を図るように出力が調整される第二のヒータと、を備える、
    ことを特徴とする放射線分析装置。
  2. 表示部を備え、
    前記表示部は、前記波高値に基づくエネルギースペクトル、又は前記ベースライン電流と前記第二のヒータの出力を調整するためのGUIを表示する、
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  3. 前記表示部は、得られた前記ベースライン電流と、前記第二のヒータの出力の時間変化のグラフを前記GUIに表示する、
    ことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の放射線分析装置。
  4. 前記TESと前記第二のヒータが近接して設置されるTESチップを備える、
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  5. 前記第二のヒータは、非磁性体である、
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  6. 前記第二のヒータは、ミアンダ構造、又は折り返し配線構造である、
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  7. 前記第一のヒータの出力と、前記第二のヒータの出力を制御する制御部を備える、
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  8. 前記制御部は、前記第一のヒータの出力を制御し、温度変動幅が0.1mK以下にし、前記第二のヒータの出力を制御し、ベースライン電流変動幅を0.1μA以下にする、
    ことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の放射線分析装置。
  9. 前記制御部は、前記コールドヘッドの第一のヒータを制御し、温度変動幅が0.1mK以下になったら、前記ベースライン電流に基づき、前記第二のヒータの出力を制御し、前記ベースライン電流変動幅を0.1μA以下にする、
    ことを特徴とする請求項8に記載の放射線分析装置。
  10. 前記電流検出機構は超伝導量子干渉素子型アンプ(以後、SQUIDアンプと呼ぶ)と、前記SQUIDアンプから出力された電気信号を増幅・整形処理するための室温アンプと、を備えている
    ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の放射線分析装置。
  11. 前記TESチップには複数の前記TESが設置され、少なくとも一個の前記TESは、前記ベースライン電流をモニタするベースラインモニタ用TESである、
    ことを特徴とする請求項4に記載の放射線分析装置。
  12. 前記波高値に基づくエネルギースペクトルを表示するスペクトル表示部を備え、
    前記ベースラインモニタ用TES以外の複数の前記TESはそれぞれ前記電流検出機構、及び前記波高分析器を介して、前記スペクトル表示部に接続される、
    ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の放射線分析装置。
  13. 前記ベースラインモニタ用TESは、前記電流検出機構を介して、前記ベースラインモニタ機構に接続される、
    ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の放射線分析装置。
  14. 前記ベースラインモニタ用TESは、放射線を遮蔽するための遮蔽体を備える、
    ことを特徴とする請求項11に記載の放射線分析装置。
